Comfortable, quiet sit down restaurant with cloth napkins and silverware. Very appealing upon first impression. The hostess went over some of the menu items making recommendations. On her recommendation, my friend and I tried the vegetarian lasagna. Joe, our waiter was excellent, professional yet friendly. The lasagna was the best vegetarian lasagna I have eaten and as a vegetarian, I've eaten vegetarian lasagna at many restaurants. My friend and I agreed, the red sauce was perfect; not at all acidic with just a touch of sweetness. Layered with sweet ricotta, spinach and mushrooms - topped with shaved cheese and fresh basil. I'm surprised this place was not packed on a Saturday night. Very romantic small restaurant to the side of Spoke and Wheel at Los Abrigados. My husband and I had 2 vouchers from an unfortunate mishap from the resort, so we decided to try it, as it looked more upscale than Spoke and Wheel. We gambled and won. As we were the only customers in the place (it was about 7pm on Sat), customer service was very attentive. My husband ordered an old fashioned, very tasty. I ordered a malbec and it was excellent. They have a bunch of awards on the walls for their wine so I recommend trying it. The food was great. We had the crab cake appetizers and the elk and buffalo meatballs (not terrible but wouldn't order again). We had the lasagna and salmon entrees for dinner. Delicious! We will return again. Our server was even cool with our 8 month old baby and brought her a side of pita bread to munch on. read more

Normally I don't rate but was kind of disappointed with this place. The Ambiance was nice but the service could have been a lot better. The food was not great we ordered meat balls that came 30-40 minutes later as an appetizer they were over cooked to the max felt like I was eating rubber. The food came almost an hour later which we got a pizza and lasagna. The lasagna was overcooked, noodles with way too much sauce and cheese, the pizza for it to be wood fired, was soggy in the middle to show that it had been sitting for a while before getting served. The table next to us had to send their pasta back because they had all sauce and no noodles. We got dessert which we got peach cobbler. I didn't know Peach cobbler was a bread pudding, so it was terrible and not a lot of peaches in it. Only went to this place for the reviews and I'm highly disappointed, although staying at the hotel would not go back to this restaurant or the restaurant that is in there with it. read more

I made a reservation at Timo and mentioned that we were in Sedona celebrating our anniversary, requesting that if they had a nice, private table, we'd appreciate that (we made a 5 PM reservation because that translated to 8 PM EST, so we figured it wasn't too much of a dick request/move). When we came in and mentioned our name, the host made a point of telling the waitress the specific table to put us in, despite the empty restaurant, and then told us it was the best table in the house - right in front of the huge fireplace. It was gorgeous inside with dark wood, wine bottles, and the glowing fire - more gorgeous since we really had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Our server was wonderful - I wish I had her name because she deserves recognition, but she was so sweet and accommodating, and really made our celebration special. We started with wine (red for me, white for bf), as all good meals should begin with. We then focused on carbs, ordering the English popovers (a MUST order, they were amazing), the warm Timo bread (I told you, carb focused), and then... bruschetta (the apple, fig, and brie as well as the tomato, brie, and basil). We held on to a menu, and our server suggested we not order anymore until we saw the amount of food that was going to come out. All of our appetizers were incredibly prepared, came out hot, and were delicious - we couldn't finish, so they were boxed up (which, after continuing to order more wine, became a delicious buzzed snack for later!). Since carbs alone do not make a meal (though they could have) we did order dinner as well. I was pretty full, but felt a veggie was a good choice, so I ordered the crispy kale Caesar salad (which is crispy - the kale is basically kale chips; it's an awesome recreation of a regular salad!), and BF ordered a steak entree, which he said was perfectly cooked. The ambiance, quality of food, and positive/attentive servers really helped to make our night such a special one. I wish there was a Timo in NYC, because it would become a regular rotation. Some of the Yelp reviews had me concerned of potential food poisoning or issues, but the experience we had at Timo was truly 5 star. read more

Timo has a very nice and quiet atmosphere with a decent selection of wine. I ordered the ribs and my husband ordered the rib eye steak. The ribs were not only tasty, but they were falling off the bone! My husband"s Steak was cooked as ordered, medium rare and very tender. We had a choice of asparagus or chard, I ordered the chard which was cooked in a vinaigrette and my husband ordered the asparagus, both very tasty. The service was accommodating yet unobtrusive. The new chief's culinary skills are excellent and he should do well here. The only thing missing is the dry aged steak which was discontinued by management. I've been to Timo's in Phoenix, so I decided to check out the Sedona location when I was visiting the area. It's one of the restaurants located inside the Abrigados resort. It had a much different vibe than the urban location in Phoenix. For a Friday night, the restaurant was pretty empty at dinner time, which made it feel really quiet. But, it was nice to not have to wait for a table. I started with the French onion soup. It was delicious and a very generous portion. For a main course, I had the Filet Mignon. The steak was tender with a nice char on it, and cooked well. The sides were disappointing. The mashed potatoes were cold and tasted like they needed to be heated up. The asparagus was just ok. I was bummed that the espresso machine was broken, so I couldn't end the meal that way. The service was friendly and accommodating of my requests. However, they seemed a bit overly formal for the atmosphere and my taste. There are so many good spots in Sedona that I probably won't go back to this one for a while, but still really like the Phoenix location. read more

Last night my wife and I had the extreme pleasure of eating here. It was an absolute delight! The warm, relaxing and inviting interior set the tone for the culinary delights we were about to experience. I had the aged NY Steak and my wife had the Ostrich Meatballs. Both dishes were beyond belief! My steak was supported by a generous serving of Baked Mashed Cauliflower and Shallots sautéed in port wine and then grilled. Fabulous! The Ostrich Meatballs were resting in a delightful and flavorful sauce that made my wife squeal with delight. The service was impeccable and we can't wait to get back. This place I had mixed feelings about. We went for my mother-in-laws bday. They say on the sign both out front and where you see the hostess for reservations that they have wine tasting. When they give you their menu, it says nothing about it. The menu has an ok variety of wine selection both by the glass and by the bottle. The prices vary in all price ranges. I asked the waitress if they did wine tasting, and there is another menu (I guess you have to request) that you choose 2-4 wines they will bring you a 1 ounce pour of. 3 out of the four did this which ended up being a nice way to try different things. We ordered a cheese board to share, along with some melon, and fresh baked bread with pesto and citrus buttered ordered smaller entrees. I ordered the lobster bisque soup, which was WAY too salty. We sent it back, couldn't even eat it. We ordered dessert 3 baileys Irish creme creme brûlée which they torch table side. It was pretty good. On the menu it says they have candles available for a birthday, but when we asked they were out. Overall the service was good, the wine was good, and the food was ok. read more

Timo deserves a solid four star review for serving some delicious meals and providing excellent service! We came in on a Thursday night looking for a nice meal that was slightly upscale. They have a pretty good wine list from what I could tell and our sever was knowledgable. We started with the English poppers and butter. I have never had these so I cannot compare but they were good. Very eggy custard type consistency that served as a good starter. For my meal I chose the glazed salmon with corn and edamame. It came with a side of mustard sweet vinaigrette that was surprisingly complementary! My boy had the steak with kale and potatoes and said he was very pleased. For dessert we had the recommended churro pie that came topped with Nutella, caramel, ricotta, banana, strawberry, whipped cream and ice cream. The dessert was ridiculous in that it was huge, sweet and tasted amazing! We left feeling very full, well served and happy. The only reason I failed to give five stars is that the menu is not particularly original. While the cooking is well balanced and done to near perfection, the combinations could be expected at a typical steak house or new American style restaurant. Ok, what a bad situation! Found this restaurant on Yelp, I called them to book....they answer the phone and say, Timo!! I ask for a reservation and they say they don't take resies for parties of less than six. So we get back from hiking rush there and the woman at the reception area says Timo is closed!!! I said, wait, I called this afternoon and you said your open but don't take reservations for parties of two so we rushed here at 5:00 when you open!! The girl goes onto explain that they answer the phone for Timo even though they are closed but they have another restaurant next door that is open so they are sending all people that call for Timo there!!! The restaurant is a pizza shop with sandwiches and salads and it's nothing like anything in the pictures in Yelp of Timo!! So in a bad attempt to Bait and Switch us, to a bad restaurant....we walk out super annoyed and now here you go...your review for wasting our time and not being honest!! read more

Visited Sedona for a long weekend and was searching for a romantic, non-touristy spot for dinner. Alas, a quick search on Yelp provided the answer in Timo! My fiance and I both had some issues opening up the Sedona location menu on their website. With Timo's only other location being in Phoenix, we figured the PHX location's menu had to be pretty similar to that of Sedona. Bringing our appetites for oven baked pizzas and some of their specialty plates we were pretty surprised and somewhat let down to find a much more limited menu at the Sedona location. We didn't feel like journeying elsewhere to eat on such a busy weekend so we opted for the popover bread appetizer to start, followed by herb chicken (quarter chicken with mashed potatoes) ordered by my fiance and a sample of 4 different bruschettas (trying to make up for that pizza craving) for myself. Everything tasted amazing, came out fresh and warm, and was of a sizable portion. We closed with creme brulee that was warmed table-side with a flame torch by our server - also just absolutely delicious! This is a must try in Sedona. Located in a tucked away resort behind the Tlaqueapaque shopping area, Timo is a place for good wine, good food and outstanding service. The decor is like visiting a private wine cellar, dark and intimate, but welcoming. The menu is based on the small plates style of dining, sharing a few items and trying new things. This also goes for the wine list, which has a good selection of new and old world, and some local wines as well. If it is available, try the wine flights - 3 ounce pours for $4-5 each. A great way to sample the wines they have on tap. They also have a good selection of bottles. The menu is diverse with excellent Bruschetta (try the Mushroom and onion or the Tartare) and other offerings. My wife loved the Lobster Bisque and I am a big fan of the Organic Beet salad. What made the visit was our partner for the evening, Nathan. One of the best servers I have had the pleasure of dining with. Friendly. Knowledgeable. Interested in making your experience the best it can be. His attention to detail and ability to help us make the best selections for us, it just made it an excellent experience. New on the block. A new restaurant at Los Abrigados in Sedona and a home run. The decor drew me in from the moment I walked past the hosting station. Particularly pleasing was the fireplace, which can be seen by all tables, and completes the intimate (even romantic) feeling of the decor. I'm not great a remembering granular details, but the bruschetta seemed to me the best tasting and most creatively conceived I've had in recent memory. The plank salmon was as good as any I've had. Salad ingredients seemed fresh picked and flavorful. Our waiter deserves special note. He listened to us carefully and offered casual but useful feedback on every inquiry, suggesting the appetizers and portions. He helped us narrow down our wine selection and brought us tastes of the remaining choices. At the end of our meal, he treated us to a tiramisu (it was my birthday). The ending price was affordable and in keeping with the overall excellence we experienced. I'm hardly a connoisseur, but as a New Yorker, I'm used to fine dining at most price levels. This was a memorable dinner. I can think of no improvement to the evening. I hope to return again and again. read more

Stay away! Food poisoning alert!! My boyfriend and I ordered the steak and truffle bruschetta for two, came out rather cold and the meat was raw. He asked the waitress if it was supposed to be that way and she said "yeah, it's tar-tar" Ok, well first off, it didn't say tartar on the menu. You don't just spring tar-tar on people, they should know what they're getting into. Second, I've had tar-tar before. For meat to be served raw it needs to be of the finest quality. This was not. It was large cubes of chewy garbage, which brings me to my third point, he vomited and had explosive diarrhea all night from what was likely a bad piece of their "tar-tar". Not an exaggeration. I've been a fan of Creekside for many years, and just recently tried their sister restaurant, Timo. I think I have a new favorite spot! The newly renovated space is gorgeous and ambiance is very inviting. My friend and I each had an appetizer and main course. The food was amazing! Drinks were delicious. My date had a very good local wine from Page Springs Cellars, while I had a yummy margarita. (I'm a self-proclaimed margarita snob!) We finished with a homemade Limoncello. Well done, guys! Service was above and beyond. Our server, Nathan, was not only extremely knowledgeable and so accommodating to our every need, but his timing was impeccable. My mom and I went to Sedona a few weeks ago and it was recommended that we stop at Timo during our visit. We got their early hoping to do a wine tasting, but unfortunately they do not do wine tasting anymore. Although we were disappointed at the beginning we were pleasantly surprised with our experience at the end. We each enjoyed a glass of wine and split a few small plates including the Apple Gorgonzola Salad, Bruschetta Plate, and Crab Cakes. Our favorite by far was the Bruschetta Plate, which comes with three different types of Bruschetta. I will start with the positive. The food and service is excellent. We had the shrimp scampi salad and brussels sprout salads to start - both were excellent. We then did two small plates: the sea bass which was wonderful and the lamb chops which was flavorful but over done. The place was very hard to find. We had to call to eventually find it and got laughed at by the hostess. It turns out the sign in front was burned out. Also, this is not a wine focused restaurant. Since I can't leave 'no stars', I'm forced to leave one. And to be honest, that really isn't surprising because the restaurant already removed any dining option for me this weekend anyway. My wife and I used Open Table to make a reservation weeks prior. It was confirmed. Multiple reminders were sent. And immediately before our reservation time, we were marked as 'no shows'. Certainly an error, so we went over to the restaurant and found it closed. They had a wedding reception going on! It feels like anyone of the managers or assistants could have informed Open Table. Nope. So on our anniversary, we were left scrambling at 6pm to find a decent place to enjoy what was left of our evening. Thanks Timo. We stayed at the Los Abrigados resort while visiting Sedona the week of Christmas. This is one of the two restaurants located right at the front of the resort. Timo was quite small, with very limited seating, so it seemed they always required a reservation. We had wanted to try it Wednesday night, but they were full up with reservations until 8pm in the evening. So we made reservations for dinner on Christmas Eve. We had Nicole W. as our waitress, and she was amazing. I mentioned in another review (for Creekside Sedona, which I believe has the same owners as Timo and the neighboring restaurant Spoke &Wheel) that my in-laws can be a handful. They are the type to start conversations with strangers, whether the situation calls for it or not. It's not unusual for them to hold up a waitress or waiter with stories or banter in a full and busy restaurant, and honestly, most people don't really know how to react aside from try to laugh at jokes and get away so they can work. Nicole, however, handled them beautifully. She was smooth as she bantered back, and was still able to work efficiently. Not only that, she was very helpful with the menu, answering our questions clearly to help us make our decisions. The restaurant serves two types of bread, a signature one and popovers. They were out of the signature bread for the night, but Nicole recommended the popovers. They were SO GOOD! They were a wonderful way to start our dinner. What's neat is that a lot of what they serve are small dishes meant to share, and to taste with wines. The menu was small, so we didn't get overwhelmed with options. FIL got the bruschetta sampler, MIL got rosemary chicken, and they enjoyed their meals. Forgot what aunt and uncle got, but they really liked their dishes. Hubby got a saffron angel hair pasta dish that he said was light and enjoyable. I had the elk and buffalo meatballs, and they were delicious. They came with pita, and for a small plate (4 meatballs), they were surprisingly filling... although that could have been the popovers. Also had a Bellini, and it was very good. I'm one that can't stand the taste of alcohol, but this was sweet, fruity, and refreshing. For dessert, MIL had a Bailey's creme brûlée that actually the entire table (minus me) tasted and loved. I had the tiramisu parfait, which was like a mousse trifle with ladyfingers. A bummer was that they can't share menus with their sister restaurant. We were eating at Spoke & Wheel, but I really wanted the popover bread again, and they said they weren't able to bring it over. The Spoke & Wheel waitress also said that they don't do take-out orders, so we couldn't just order the bread to go. I thought that was very strange, but I may be spoiled with a restaurant in Pasadena that will bring a dessert over from their sister restaurant. But I was sad that it seemed I couldn't even order the bread to go (although note that I didn't try; I just went off what the waitress told me). Also, I think the two (Timo and Spoke & Wheel) may share the kitchen as they are literally next door, so sometimes the food can be a bit slow coming out. Overall: all the food was delicious, the service was awesome, and the atmosphere was very nice. Would love to be back if we visit Sedona again. Try the popover bread. read more

The food, service and wine menu are really great here. We started with some of the bruschetta and were very happy with our selections! The tomato one was especially delicious with amazing tomatoes. I'm not sure where they got them, but I wish I could find them in the store. We had the NY Strip, which was recommended by some former servers who now work in Cottonwood and it was spot on. It came with a tasty cauliflower rice thing that I need to replicate. We also had the roasted chicken that was crispy, juicy and so full of flavor. Maria was our server and she was really great! My only complaint is that I called 5 days ahead and specifically requested the table in front of the fireplace because we were celebrating a birthday, and was told they would reserve it for me.
