This was not the case @ J & G. We had dinner here and my husband had to twist my arm to agree to eat here. It had been a long time since I'd been to a really nice restaurant and I forgot how nice it was to have such great service. We were greeted and escorted by a lovely hostess to our table as soon as we arrived for our reservation. Our server appeared shortly after & took our drink order and provided some info about the menu. She took our food order and checked on us periodically while we waited. She was a great and attentive server and we never even had to ask for refills. Our food was brought out within a very reasonable amount of time. Plated beautifully and prepared perfectly. My husband had the fillet mignon and I had the halibut. We shared the grilled asparagus, roasted mushrooms & Yukon mashed potatoes. I was actually so full I had to take majority of the asparagus to go. I did however manage to share the warm chocolate lava cake w my hubby. This is a review of the Thanksgiving buffet. It was a major disappointment. We last attended this Thanksgiving buffet 10 years ago and it was a foodies delight. Literally rooms of different foods, elegantly served and delicious. It's always been a family benchmark on a great meal. We thought it pricey at $90 per head, but were pleased with food, atmosphere and service. We wanted to enjoy this location again and literally booked 90 days out to ensure we'd get our table for 4. Entering into the restaurant, I wondered where the rooms of food were as the rooms had been renovated There were no rooms of food. A seafood station yielded tasteless shrimp and cracked crab claws. The oyster display was uninviting in their size. A room with everything else had rwo carving stations for a small turkey breast and prime rib. The offerings were a major disappointment for the 2025 price of $175.00 per person!! Plus non-disclosure of a 20% service fee for buffet? Bill: $1081.00 for 4. Nah. Not to return. read more

We had a large dinner party of around 20 girls come on a Sunday. The service was great and prompt. The view from the restaurant is beautiful. I ended up going for the peppercorn steak which I ultimately regretted. The peppercorn was insanely overpowering and also had way too thick of chunks, so it was kind of inedible. I also ordered sides like the potatoes and mac & cheese, but unfortunately, they never made it to the table. I think they were forgotten. My friends, however, got the prefix menu which I was able to taste and actually really enjoyed. I thought their steak was a lot better than mine. We walked in around 6 PM on a Friday night and there was no availability except for the seats at the bar and lounge area which, in my opinion, were actually stellar seats because they were up against the windows with a gorgeous view of the sunset over the city. Not upset about it at all! Daniel really made the experience at JNG steakhouse. I had several dietary requests and Daniel was totally chill about accommodating all of them. We ordered the grass fed boneless ribeye, a ton of veggies, and the Kabocha squash soup, which was my favorite! I loved the coconut cream and toasted coconut flakes on top and am now inspired to try a recipe like this at home. The espresso martini has also made it into my top three in the city - thx Gabe! Came here to celebrate my wife's birthday in Scottsdale and we were recommended J&G Steakhouse. We came at 5:00 PM and the ambiance of the restaurant was very good. Hotel decor was very nice and fashionable. The outdoor deck adjacent to the dining area is nice and has a great view of Scottsdale and Phoenix. Service staff were very friendly and attentive even though we were there early. My wife had the salmon and I had a boneless ribeye we had a tuna appetizer and auGratin potato's. Everything was prepared perfectly and was delicious. The staff prepared a chocolate soufflé for desert for my wife's birthday surprise along with a nice note from the staff. I came with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant is very classy with beautiful views of the resort and mountains from the patio. We were greeted with a smile by the restaurant host, Tom. Tom was very nice and sat us immediately. Our sever, Chris, was simply outstanding. We were never left waiting for service. Chris was very knowledgeable, made great suggestions from the menu and a kind and pleasant person. Two of us ordered filets which were cooked perfectly medium. The other two in our party ordered the salmon which they said was cooked spot on. The sides we ordered included scalloped potatoes and creamed spinach. Both were tasty and not overly heavy. What a wonderful place to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The staff was fantastic attentive and professional. We had a window seat with a view of the valley lights. The ambiance and views are out of this world beautiful. The classy Christmas decorations were gorgeous and cozy also. I haven't had a steak this good at a restaurant in a long time. There was a thin, crispiness on the outside of my filet but juicy and super tender inside. Perfectly seasoned. A trio of sauces accompanied our steaks: peppercorn, hollandaise & miso butter. The hollandaise was so good. It was lemony, decadent, whipped and airy. Highly recommend with the steaks, holy cow. My husband got a bone-in filet, which we both thought was a pleasantly rare thing to see on a menu. We rounded out or meal with the black truffle fritters, a split Caesar salad and the cheesy shells with lobster. We also enjoyed a couple glasses of Caymus Cabernet Blend, one of our favorite wines. There was so much more on the menu besides steak that I'd love to try next time. However, we saw a neighboring table got the Tomahawk for Two, and it looked like a bucket list experience! The food looked appetizing and tasted very good. The service was fantastic. My sister who I was with got escorted to the restroom instead of being pointed in its direction. I ordered the calamari for an appetizer. It was very fresh amd cooked perfectly with a light flaky batter. For my entree I ordered the lamb T-bone and a side of mac n cheese. J&G was our favorite steakhouse of the 3 that we tried during our Scottsdale visit. The view, food and service were fabulous. This is a great place for a romantic dinner, anniversary or date night! We came here twice during the week we stayed at the hotel. The first visit we ordered salmon, filet and the mushroom side. They were so kind to have a handwritten note for my husband's birthday and a delicious complimentary dessert. The complimentary bread is so good! For the 2nd visit, we did the tasting menu which all 3 of us liked very much. Everyone does have to order this if you choose this option but it was a nice way to try a variety of items. Since the tasting menu has the same items you can order, if you have a bigger group or not everyone wants to do the tasting menu, you can just order the appetizers to share as well. It was nice to try the tasting menu but not sure I would get that again unless there were items on the tasting menu that you couldn't get otherwise. read more

Our server was so kind and welcoming, the views are lovely, but the food just ok. Bread to start is ok. The tomato salad looks beautiful, but needed salt. Caesar salad is very heavily dressed and a bit pale looking with croutons that didn't add anything special. King crab tasted fine, but quite pricey. Lobster mac is very rich- more of a cream sauce than cheese, with big chunks of perfectly cooked lobster. A nice splurge if you have a group to share bc a few bites is enough. The sauteed spinach had a strong spice/herb that I wasn't expecting and didn't love. The staff is friendly, but service was a bit uncoordinated. Dishes were delivered without serving utensils. Plates and utensils cleared after the first course, but not replaced. Fine place to go if you want to get dressed up and sit somewhere pretty. One of the best steaks that I have had in the desert. Visiting town from Los Angeles for the weekend so we wanted a special place to have a great dinner. I have stayed at the Phoenician a few times before so have known about J&G for quite a while but last night was our first time trying it. It has great views of the valley and is very large and open on the inside. They have a large and long bar with live music on one side and then a lot of seating options next to that. We reserved a booth by the window however there was a booking issue so we had to sit at another table. Our server was very polite and prompt, and made up for the seating mishap a bit. I chose the Heirloom Tomatoes with Roasted Peaches, and the Filet Mignon 12oz. The heirloom tomatoes were very tasty although the dish was very small in portion size. I wouldn't really call it an appetizer, it is more a starter or tapas sized portion. The steak, however, was delicious and cooked perfectly. Definitely one of the better steaks that I've had in the desert and I would certainly order it again. Overall a really great dinner with great service and a great steak. The only issue we had was the seating mishap, but aside from that it was a great dinner overall and I would definitely recommend it. read more

Walk through the open, airy lobby and take the elevator directly to J&G. As soon as you step off, you'll notice a round table with a beautiful floral arrangement and as you walk around you are able to see the dinner menu offerings propped on the table as well as drinks and cocktails menus on the other side of the table. Then you will notice the hostess stand at the end of room that opens to a grand bar and lounge with a spectacular view of the resort and the city of Phoenix. While the patrons' attire ranged from neat, resort casual to formal and dressy, this restaurant is definitely a place where you can enjoy from having an intimate dinner to having a large party celebrating a special occasion. A few weeks ago, I booked a reservation for my wife's birthday. We arrived at our appointment time, and the hostess looked up our reservation, turned to my wife, and said, "happy birthday!" We knew we were in for a wonderful experience. The manager quickly seated us with a nice view, introduced himself, wished my wife a wonderful birthday greeting, and then introduced "Jeff," our first waiter. From then on, each server wished my wife birthday greetings, and both our servers, Jeff and Austin, made sure our dinner experience was memorable. Jeff gave excellent menu recommendations, followed by the manager asking if we wanted him to take a few pictures, with the looming sunset and views behind us. We said, "yes!" The food was amazing. My wife had the filet mignon, I had the sea bass, and we shared the lobster/macaroni shells. Delicious! Our evening concluded with Austin gifting us with a nice birthday dessert for my wife. The price was consistent with what you'd expect for upscale dining, but it was the service that made our dining experience memorable, and worth recommending to others. Had a fantastic dinner here while staying at the resort. The view was great, the wait staff were nice and attentive, and the food quality was top notch. We started with some cocktails which were unique and flavorful. Then, we had the tasting menu experience and really enjoyed it. Most of the time I'm not a fan of truffles because it just seems like a gimmick, but it was delicious in this dish. The tuna tartar was creamy and delicious and the acidic flavors highlighted the dish. The risotto was good, but could have used more pizzaz. The star of the show of course, was the filet mignon and lobster. Both were cooked to perfection, and honestly I really enjoyed the dipping sauces that came with the steak. I'm usually a no sauce guy when it comes to steak, but I enjoyed them. Finally, the dessert. It was honestly the only disappointing part of the meal. Cutlery is provided for each course and you're not made to keep your used cutlery for the next food served like in most restaurants. Water is replenished and table checked at appropriate times.
