Okay so this place is definitely worth the hype. A little expensive but definitely a nice way to treat yourself. So happy we got Ambere to guide us because she was giving us all the best tips. We highly recommend getting one of the fancy martinis (Salt & Vinegar for sure) along with the caviar bumps to really elevate your experience and get the night started off right. The food was made to perfection (especially the salmon bombs) -- the chicken nuggets with caviar weren't my favorite but honestly not bad. They had a super talented DJ that played live instruments during his set and they even have showgirls I hear if you get there early enough. SHIV is one of those perfect celebration places - huge space, great ambiance and live performers on Friday and Saturday. I went for a bachelorette/birthday celebration and it felt like almost everyone was there celebrating something! They had someone playing the Saxophone and even had like a birthday sparkler celebration and even cabaret dancers. It's definitely on the pricier side but I got the Short Rib Ragu and it was so delicious!! I can't stop think about it. Very large restaurant which could be cute but was trying to hard ( they want to be a supper club). It was really slow but they still needed to be asked to refill water. They did of course ask about more alcoholic drinks because they cost money. Salmon with caviar beurre blanc was excellent and perfectly cooked but side options were lacking ( we had truffled Mac and cheese and truffled fries which were too similar). Asparagus was good. Appetizers were all too fussy and I was at a work dinner and could have ordered anything. Like others said music was a bit loud. Despite the tasty fish I doubt I'd come back. I think if you're looking to get more people you'd either need to do more inexpensive small plates or revamp the menu so it had more choices where the side weren't over done ( too much cream and cheese or otherwise trying too hard). read more

The place itself is very beautiful, it's themed like a forest with different greenery on the walls, the bar has a tree in the middle and lots of wood accents. Definitely more upscale and for special occasions. My steak frites tasted great however I would have liked to see other options rather than steak. They have a saxophonist walking around but it was a little confusing when they had the DJ playing house music. It would have been nice to just enjoy his music or play something that fit it more. It also felt like the DJ was playing the same song over the course of our entire dinner, would like some diversify. Finally made it to SHIV Supper Club for a bachelorette dinner and it was exactly how I expected. The ambiance was top notch-- elevated, awesome lighting, beautiful plants with modern Boho decor. But the food, meh -- it just honestly wasn't flavorful, exciting or even good to be honest. After being offered a VIP menu for our group of nine girls - we saw chicken nuggets mentioned on it along with a few bottles and thankfully we declined given the price. But we were intrigued so a few of us ordered them. Man were we disappointed! They were literally so unseasoned and looked, felt and tasted like giant McDonald's nuggets. When we did the math, it was nearly 5 dollars a nugget, which is insane! What a disappointment. My friend ordered the steak and it was also just mediocre without a ton of flavor. The brussel sprouts were the highlight of flavor for the table. My friends also liked the pasta but as someone with a sensitive stomach that would've been too heavy for me personally. Our server was OK but one thing that stood out to me was that she told me to keep my silverware, even though they were soiled from the appetizer. For a fancy restaurant like this, I would think switching out the silverware would be a common practice. They did a great job refilling our water regularly though, haha! Overall I wish the food was better because the ambiance is definitely something I'd return for - but without good food I probably will not. My friends and I booked Shiv for a birthday celebration. When you arrive, the parking lot is valet only. if you choose to valet instead of finding street parking, the cost to valet is $30. You can have the hostess stamp your valet ticket which brings the cost down to $15 plus gratuity. From the outside, Shiv looks like just a random building but once you step inside, it is quite chic and beautifully decorated. We arrived early so we could have cocktails at the bar prior to dinner. The hostess escorted us to the bar which is located in the center of the main dining area. We were helped by several bar staff which were very friendly and attentive. Both the hostess and the bar staff offered to take pictures of our group when asked. We all ordered the same cocktail, the Hugo spritz, which was garnished beautifully and very tasty. When the hostess came to grab us for dinner, she led us to a small table that was right in the main walking path. It was a weeknight and the restaurant was fairly empty at the time so we asked if we could move to a more desirable table and she was happy to move us to a different spot in the restaurant which was very nice of her. There is a DJ which we were surprised to see at 6pm on a weeknight. Although the music was a little loud for dinner, we were still able to hold a conversation. Our waiter Adam was excellent. We were never left waiting for anything. He made recommendations on the menu and continuously checked in with us throughout the evening. To start, we ordered the Wagyu Carpaccio which was good but not very flavorful. Needed seasoning. We also ordered the Honey Baked Bruschetta which had Brie and apricot jam. Delicious. The proteins are à la cart so you will need to order sides. For dinner we split the Shiv'd Wedge which was topped with blue cheese crystals, pistachios and grapes. Very tasty. The sides are meant to share so we ordered the Crispy Brussels Sprouts topped with a cashew mouse and apricot honey. It was sweet but not too sweet. The Brussels sprouts were crispy. We also ordered the Apple Pie Mac and Cheese. Like the title implies, this is definitely a sweet dish not savory. It's topped with a sweet bourbon chutney. It wasn't my favorite but it was different and creative. I ordered the petite filet which was rendered with a garlic and rosemary rendered beef tallow. It was perfectly cooked to order medium. For desert. Adam brought our birthday girl a fruity pebble crunch ice cream Dish with a strawberry topping. Overall we had a nice time. The staff from the hostess to the bar staff to our server Adam were all great. If we go to Shiv again, I will order different sides that move away from the sweetness. I've been really excited to come here so made a reservation for our anniversary. When we arrived they told us they were running behind, so we opted to get a drink at the bar. No doubt the bartender in the front was working hard but they had one bartender for seated guests on one side and waiting guests on the opposite. It took 25 minutes to get a drink here, they should consider a second bartender for a high volume night. Once we were seated, the room is almost shaped like a backwards capital L and we were in the back almost corner. No tables were seated around us, we couldn't see the music and honestly, it's less aesthetically pleasing in this area and the dessert room next to it was totally empty. As we were seated, it took a bit for someone to come over. We ordered drinks and 2 caviar bumps. They immediately laid the caviar bumps on wooden spoons on the table even though we didn't have drinks yet- which didn't come for about another 10 minutes after asking twice. We ordered the blossom and bloom to drink- possibly the most horrific drink I've ever tried (we left the drink and they did take it off the check, the manager never came over and acknowledged anything though). We ordered the cream cheese cigar appetizer and Wagyu for dinner. The cigars came out and were a total miss. They weren't crispy- incredibly soggy and the sauce under it was terrible, a super sugary pineapple chutney. I think I've had better versions at any Chinese restaurant. They came back and stated they were out of the steak we wanted and offered a lesser cut, we just asked for our check from here and decided to go to Mastro's instead, who went above and beyond to make our night very special after such a rough starting point. Staff were running around trying to keep up, and many guests around us looked frustrated as well. Such a warm greeting by Sarah and Justin at the bar. Loved the pickled dip and black pepper+vinegar chips that arrived shortly after I sat. Cassie joined shortly after and was an absolute darling! I found it to be a bit bland initially though I did appreciate the hint of truffle and actually the aftertaste of the crispy mushrooms. The meat was very tender, just not as flavorful as I'd hoped. The whole dish was smoother in parmesan shredd and a creamy white sauce that tasted almost sweet, which I didn't care for. I kindly shared my first impression with Cassie when she checked on me. She was a darling and offered to take care of it though I let her know that wasn't necessary. I was happy to try it once. Second, I ordered salmon tartare...my tastebuds were confused but like this. Definitely glad I tried it. I actually liked it more as I kept eating it. Love the caviar on top. Had a few too many flavors floating around. I could do without the pear and apple. Loved the grapefruit/citrus. The salmon was a bit too fishy and not as rare as I hoped but still liked this one. Would I order it again? Sorry to say no. I asked for soy sauce to add some pizzaz. Again too sweet. Whoever creates their menu must have a sweet tooth. I did love the wafers that come with it. Love the burnt touch. Cassie made me a fabulous tart mocktail with mint that I loved! No lie this corn was all gas no breaks get out of the road or get ran over good , Truffle Mac and cheese 9.3/10, Honey buttah rolls 9/10 ,they gave us two Comped items these dill pickle chip things which were damn good 9.1/10 and they comped the wife this fruity pebble tasting ice cream 8.9/10 . The only grip I have about this place was they literally set my wife and I in the back as if though we were out cast . Like no joke we were the only people back there and everyone else was in this main dinning area and we didn't like that but!!!!! It wasn't a bad thing I just thought it was odd and didn't like it . Dillon provided excellent service 9.7/10 . We also had a glass of red wine and a side car with Hennessy. Over all food plus being set at the back of the house was a 8.9/10 . Yes we will go back . A group of us came last night for the first time and were immediately impressed by the ambience. It's a truly stunning restaurant with fantastic live music and, toward the end of our dinner, some dancers. The drinks and drink menu (which does include a great selection of wine) is also really great! There are probably 20-30 serving staff walking around the restaurant, checking in, running food, and serving - this made service really well done! My downfall was the actual food. Between six of us, we shared to of the Easy Coast oysters (great!), the truffle bread (so good), the cheeseburger poke (good) and then we also shared four sides: mashed potatoes (meh), corn something or other (good), truffle potatoes (I think?)(good), and the apple pie mac (awful). Some of us got steaks, one w lobster. The bites of filet someone shared w me was bland. The salmon I ordered was borderline undercooked and I could not eat it. Wow I'm so glad I disregarded the bad reviews. This place is amazing. Every aspect executes to a high level. We made reservations on open table which I highly suggest. The ambiance is wonderful very calm and jungle vibes. Now onto the food. We went crazy as it was my wife's birthday so we wanted to try a ton of things. The highlights were the crab Rangoon cigars, the duck entree, and the crab and corn brûlée. The drinks were all very well balanced and tasty. Honestly I really wanted to love Shiv Supper Club. I've been eagerly awaiting its opening for months and was so excited when I saw a reservation open up for 6 to try the place out with my best friends. While it absolutely delivers on ambiance, unfortunately, the food COMPLETELY missed the mark for me. Let's start with the positives... The ambiance is 10/10. From the elegant lighting to the moody, upscale vibe, it definitely feels like you've been transported to a chic Vegas supper club. The live musicians and vocalist were incredibly talented, and the setlist was perfection. This place nails the whole "elevated night out" vibe. Classy, cool, and immersive. The cocktails were also a highlight! Well-balanced, creative, and beautifully presented. I'd absolutely come back just for drinks and the music alone. Now the not-so-great part... the food, ESPECIALLY for the price, just didn't deliver. The steak was overly salty, the apple pie mac & cheese was unfortunately as strange as it sounds, and the fries were forgettable. The only dish I truly enjoyed was the asparagus and a few bites of my friend's truffle cacio e pepe, which was pretty good. We ordered 3 steaks for the table and one came out incorrectly. Completely wrong cut. To make up for a mix-up on our steak order, the staff kindly brought out a complimentary Bananas Foster Baked Alaska, but it was burnt and not very enjoyable. On Wednesday night, my husband and I joined the SHIV Supper club in the early evening. We were greeted by the hostess when we walked in, but took a bit before she could seat us. We were a bit surprised how long it took, as the restaurant was empty as a weekday and 6pm. Neverless they read our request for seating, and granted it which was appreciated it. We sat down in a booth overlooking the large open space for dining and drinking. While we sat, we took in the appearance of the restaurant. The restaurant consist of at least three bar spaces, which includes a private back room that opens up to the public on weekends. The décor of the restaurant is very nicely decorated. The lighting is dim and sets the mood for the restaurant. In the middle of the rom, there is a DJ who was pumping out music. This is definitely a place to go for a night out on the town- but maybe more on the weekends and at night as entertainment on weekdays was limited to just the DJ. As for drinks....given how quiet the restaurant was- only a couple tables full, and at least 2-3 people working the bar, we were a bit surprised how long our drinks took. When we received our drinks we were pleased with the cocktails. They were solid. As for food...we were provided an offering from the chef- which consisted of chips and dip- seemed like a weird thing to provide in a more upscale kind of place- and the dip tasted like it came out of a container- I think it might of been an onion dip (with that said, I am sure that it was made in house). We were not too keen on the chips and dip. For dinner, I ordered duck, as mentioned it was a standout item- an item that they are noted for, according to the waitress- for 34 plus dollars, I was not impressed. It look like I got an appetizer- it consisted of something that resembled a leg and the meat was overcooked- usually restaurants ask how you want your meat cooked. I was informed by the waitress on how the meat was prepared- based on what she was saying it uniformly cooked one way- given their cooking method if being made to order, they could cook the meat to customers likings. Given how they make the duck, I wonder how their steaks are- are they overcooked? We also had the Cesar salad- the salad was good- plenty of cheese and just the right amount of dressing. The size was enough for two people. My husband ordered cacio e pepe- which is a very simple dish to make- its all about flavor and making the pasta right-the pepper could not be tasted within the dish- when asked for more pepper we were provided grounded pepper shaker that you make see on fast food table- this was not the quality we were looking for. For dessert we had a spin off from the British sticky toffee pudding- it was ok, more cream was needed for this dish. In all, we felt the salad was the best dish. We expected better quality from this caliber of a restaurant. As for service- we felt the service from our waitress and her trainer were good. They were both very attentive. We appreciated the recognition of our special dinner with a sparkling candle- that was fun and a surprised. Given that Scottsdale is known for steak restaurants and my food experience, I do not think I would come here for dinner again. I could see myself coming for the vibe and drinks though if I was in the party mood. read more

We ordered the bruschetta which was great, I had the Steak Frites and my wife got the salmon. Both good but not knock your socks for a "steak house" I figured the quality would be a bit better. I will say the fries were amazing, super crispy and full of Parmesan. Overall as other have said, this is a place for maybe a before or after dinner drink. Food is over priced and just OK. read more

No other parking options on site. I believe there are off site street parking within a walking distance. Service: hostess, bartenders and waitresses were friendly, with a hint of snooty. Food: - Crab Rangoon Cigar - gimmicky, but fairly tasty - Filet Mignon - this might be the worst steak I've ever had at a "higher" quality restaurant. It was unequally salted as a few bites resembled the ocean while others were as bland as attending a weekend seminar on the history of underwater basketweaving. The texture was simultaneously stringy and mushy. - Pasta - short rib agnolotti. It was cooked unevenly and cold upon arrival - Duck - solid dish, I enjoyed it - Halibut - I felt the sauce complemented the fish quite well. I enjoyed this dish. - Corn - this is a pretty similar concept to Dominick's crème brûlée corn. The candied pepper added some color to the dish. Probably our favorite dish - Brussels Sprouts - no complaints - Apple Pie Mac and Cheese - gimmicky and I did not feel there is any synergy between the "Apple pie" and the Mac/Cheese. Pass! Ambiance: I didn't choose a supper club for its food as I expect the entertainment would elevate the experience. It was quite unsatisfactory. Performances were low energy filled with elevator music between performances. Overall: Service 3.5/5, Food 2/5, Ambiance 1/5 The combination of higher expectations mixed with an off night (Thursday evening) underwhelmed my experience. Oh and then I see that they are hiring an assistant general manager, and paying as low as $34k a year (approx $17.50 per hour equivalent if an 8 hour day - and less if longer days or 6 day weeks). First time visiting Shiv and it was a great experience. Unfortunately forgot our servers name but she knocked it out of the park and Made our dining experience unforgettable. Shiv reminds me of a burlesque 1920s settings with the dancers and entertainment having just enough of a presence where you know they're there but are not distracting you from your intimate dinner. We had the chance to visit Shiv Supper Club on opening night, and I have to say--this place is stunning. The design and attention to detail are truly next level. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed. The guys outside were super welcoming, and the hosts were sweet and accommodating. They even had girls on-site specifically to help guests take photos--which is brilliant, because you're going to want pictures here. It's that beautiful. Now onto the service and food... Our reservation was at 8 PM and we arrived a bit early at 7:45. The hosts let us know they were running slightly behind, which is understandable on opening night, so we hung out by the bar. Unfortunately, the "few minutes" delay turned into a 30-minute wait. Eventually, they offered complimentary champagne (which we appreciated) and seated us--though our original table was tucked away in a dark back corner with no view of the live music. We requested to be moved and, after a short wait, were relocated to a much better table. Appreciation to the staff for handling that kindly. Our server was very nice and brought us a complimentary dill dip with chips--super thoughtful. However, while bringing the champagne, he accidentally broke the glass on our table, spilling it on my friend. He walked away initially without saying anything (possibly in shock?), but came back shortly after to apologize. Accidents happen, so we didn't hold that against him. We ordered oysters and the crab Rangoon cigars as appetizers. Both were outstanding--especially the cigars. Crispy, creamy, and paired with the perfect sauce. Highly recommend those. Because food was taking a while, we placed our dinner orders early: shrimp Bolognese, New York Wagyu strip steak (medium), and a Caesar salad. The apps arrived after a decent wait, but dinner took way too long. It was frustrating not getting updates unless we asked. When the food finally came: * Shrimp Bolognese: Delicious! * Caesar Salad: Fresh and flavorful. * Steak: Unfortunately a big miss. Not only was it the wrong cut, but it was also extremely rare--borderline slimy. We had asked for medium, and the waiter had confirmed it should be slightly pink. This wasn't even close. To the restaurant's credit, the waiter did apologize and took the steak off the bill. Live music was a beautiful touch, but I wish they didn't have tables in spots where you can't see the performance at all. That's a detail I hope they improve--everyone should get a piece of that experience. Final thoughts: Yes, service was rocky and the kitchen was very behind. But it was opening night, and it's clear they were overwhelmed. That said, I still have high hopes for Shiv. The ambiance is unmatched, the staff is kind, and the apps were fantastic. I will definitely be back to try more dishes once they've had time to get in rhythm. Scottsdale's been needing a place like this--it's a vibe, and I'm rooting for them to succeed. We had an absolutely terrible experience at Shiv on NYE! Warning, this is a very lengthy review, but only because I need to accurately describe how insanely terrible this night was. We made a dinner reservation at 9 and another reservation for their after supper NYE countdown at 10:30 (we were told you needed both reservations if you wanted to stay past 10:15 when dinner ends). To start, we were seated towards the back corner of the restaurant, off to the side and away from the main dining area. We had no view of the stage or entertainers, only a large pole. When we asked if this would be our table for the whole night they assured us we would be moved to the main dining area for the after supper NYE countdown, where we would enjoy our VIP bottle package. The food and service were average at best. Missing forks and plates, our waitress forgetting we ordered bottled water, etc. Our table sent back what tasted like frozen chicken nuggets you buy from the store. We're usually pretty easy going, but when you're paying hundreds of dollars you expect decent service and above average food. We finish dinner and are ready to be moved and it's like we were completely neglected and forgotten. Every time we asked our waitress there would some excuse that they were still setting things up or they were waiting for people who reserved dinner only to get up. At 11:30 she finally says we can move to the other table to enjoy the bottle service we ordered. We get up, follow her to the middle of the restaurant, only to be told there are no tables. She said another party was seated at our table, and she rushed off to find the manager to ask what to do. Our group was just standing in the middle of the restaurant, frustrated and confused, with people just staring at us. At this point we were done. We asked for our check, canceled the bottle package, and left 20 minutes before the NYE countdown with no plans or place to go. I frequent all of the fine dining restaurants in Scottsdale and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had! I wish we would have trusted the bad reviews and went somewhere else! With food and customer service like this, Shiv won't last long in Scottsdale where there are so many better options. read more

Had an amazing night at Shiv! The tomahawk steak was perfection, and the appetizers--especially the poke and crab rangoon cigars were unforgettable. The cocktails really stood out too: the Cry Baby was a favorite, and the salt & vinegar martini (served with chips!) was such a fun and clever touch. Huge shoutout to our fantastic waitress, Kayleen--so friendly and on point all night. We also appreciated how several staff members checked in on us throughout the evening. The service was top-notch from start to finish. Our 7:15 reservation ended up being the sweet spot--we caught the tail end of the dinner crowd, then got to enjoy the shift into a livelier, more energetic vibe with live music and dancers. The SHIV, Scottsdale newest Supper Club is getting a lot of attention... and rightly so! The ambiance is electric, service is excellent, entrees superb and the halibut was to die for, sides were wonderful.. John has lived and worked throughout the world and said the "Cosmopolitan" was the best he's ever had. Our waiter Gilbert made the evening a joy .. he was extremely knowledgeable about every item on the menu and his recommendations were spot on. Gilbert took pleasure in meeting our every need, he welcomed us as if SHIV was his family's home. Yes it's expensive .. save up you deserve it! Dress was from casual to evening wear for a 5:30 seating.... soon the SHIV will develop its own customer base. Give it a try, you won't be sorry.
