Great diner for breakfast. I usually don't eat anything other than breakfast at diners but my fiancé likes their wraps.

Went with the wife for dinner. She went with a sautéed chicken and crabmeat dish and loved it. I got the crab cakes and I have to say they were probably the worst crab cakes I have ever been served. Nothing but mealy breading with almost no crab flavor served with the middle still cold. Very disappointing. read more

Took my elderly mother there for breakfast. Walked in around 10 AM on a weekday morning; the place was not busy. We stood looking at a sign telling us to wait to be seated by a "hostess." A nearby cashier pointedly ignored us while trying not to mess up her nails texting messages on a cell phone. Finally, the owner saw what was going on and told the cashier (who was also the "hostess") to pay attention. Trying to be gracious, he then showed us to a booth himself. I only wanted a muffin. Muffins are on the menu. I asked what kind of muffins they had. They had no muffins. They had no danish or pastries. I ordered toast. My mother ordered scrambled eggs and home fries, sausages, juice and toast. They served the eggs, home fries and toast. Completely forgot the sausage and juice. So, we had to call her back and have her complete the order. On the positive side, my mother commented that the bread was perfectly toasted. Waitresses and bus person seemed overall bored and generally disinterested, just waiting for a shift to be over. Maybe if the place had been busier they'd have seemed more lively. My mom said the food was adequate, no better. Anyway, we tried it, didn't like it. Won't be going back. Too many diners around here to go to an out-of-the-way place with poor service and mediocre food. read more

I've eaten here a number of times. Lately the food has gone down. Tonight I had turkey with mashed potatoes and corn; all was cold. Even the soup was cold. Also the wait staff does not know what Items go with the specials. At first the platters were plentiful not any more. Hope they bounce back. Also when I entered the waitress greeted me with "are you here for the soup" did you order the soup; very RUDE. some of the waitresses are nice others are not. read more

Better than average diner food (especially at b'fast), great prices (b'fast = 3 eggs, homefries that are way above average, toast and coffee for 3.99), and the best servers (especially if you're lucky enough to get Dawn at b'fast). Also, BYO wine. Very convenient parking. Why go anyplace else? read more

I've been coming here almost everyday for breakfast and have never been disappointed with food or especially the service. Since the new owner took over..Dee..everything really improved. Lunch is exceptional also. Haven't been for dinner yet but will try soon. The waitresses are friendly and very attentive to coffee refills. Even the busgirl is friendly. Very satisfied with all of the meals I've had here! The omelettes are amazing, with always fresh ingredients.. Not like most diners around here. My favorite though is the Mexican burger.. With delicious guacamole & sour cream, & the piston sliders.. Mini burgers with onion rings, wiz, & spicy ranch. So delicious!!!! I will definitely be eating here regularly! We stopped here one morning for breakfast and couldn't have been happier! Coffee is SO important to start the day well, and boy did they have great coffee...that was just the beginning. We met "D", the new owner, who proudly offered to show us around his clean restaurant and he wasn't kidding!!! the place is really clean - kitchen and all. Our breakfasts were cooked to perfection! And yes, we returned many times for breakfast and lunch and were very happy. We told allot of people about "this great place to eat". And one week my brother and sister-in-law suggested our weekly dinner outing there. Seems they have become regulars and quite big fans of the cook. The dinner menu is quite extensive, and very reasonable. We have eaten there many, many times each time trying a new dinner choice and each time leaving ever so full and happy! The chef is hands down far above what you would find cooking for an average diner, but then The Piston isn't average. read more

I want to love this place because the food is good and with a different spin from what is currently out there but it is lacking in good service. I have been here a lot and the food is always good, but recently the service is lacking. I have received my check without asking if I wanted anything else (which I did), I sat for over 10 minutes before I saw a waitress, I had toast that wasn't even tan or warm - I am not even sure it made it in the toaster, I had a waitress tell me 3 times she was getting me coffee before I finally received a cup and I could go on and on. The food is worth the visit but the service will kill this diner and I would hate to see this happen. From past experience, I have seen this happen time and time again...bad wait staff is bad for business. read more

I had a bad first impression when I opened the menu and there was an old sticky sauce from someone else's lunch on the first page. but i did like seeing most of the sandwiches came with a cup of soup, coleslaw, pickle, and fries. seemed like a good deal. I tried the cream of chicken soup over the tomato orzo, and it was very tasty. our waitress was not very attentive though. she didn't notice my husband needed a refill on his drink after walking by our table twice. my reuben came out as open faced, not advertised as such, and with an overabundance of sauerkraut compared to the pastrami. i mean this was seriously lacking pastrami, I was pretty surprised by how little meat was on this sandwich. my husband asked for his chicken sandwich on a Kaiser roll, but received a ciabatta roll instead. I couldn't even eat my sandwich it was so unappealing and I didn't even get the pickle or coleslaw on my plate. the waitress seemed baffled when I said I didn't care for it. they did comp the reuben, and that was the best thing about my lunch. we will not go back. read more

I had the pleasure of visiting the Piston Diner with my sisters this past weekend, and I could not have been more pleasantly surprised. First of all, the look of the diner is quite impressive..retro 50s with a modern flair, and SPOTLESS!! The owner greeted us at the door and I immediately felt at home. Our waitress was a delight, the menu an epicurean adventure and the food was plentiful and delicious! When we had completed our meal, the owner, D, sat down with us--what a treat!! First & last time here unpleasant experience. I had asked a few questions on items on the menu & my young waitress didnt know and never tried to find out. Despite the 9 inch artificial nails on her that NOWAY should be handling food, our food took forever maybe because she was standing around giggling & then complaining how tired she was. The so called (owner ) and his tattooed all over waitress were talking about the other employees, while flirting.very very unprofessional, i don't feel taking my family out to dinner should be subject to hearing & seeing what went on. A friend of ours had recommended piston for breakfast, so we decided to check it out. She had failed to tell us about what type of servers they hire & the language between employee & owner speaking of his other employees to a server that looked as if she should be working in a corner bar with all the tattoos & language. read more

Decided to go here, after wanting to try it for a while... When we first got there it was pretty empty which was a little discouraging since it was around dinner time. There were a few tables besides us. The service was great but the food wasn't much to write home about. Tried out this new diner in Westville....the piston sandwich rocks!! Its a cheesesteak with scrambled eggs and green peppers and onions if you want. I went with my mom and she had the stuffed french toast with blueberries. She really liked it. we brought it home and I finished it and it was really good. I would definitly recommend this diner to anyone in the area. It has a fresh decor unlike other diners in the area which are getting kinda old and boring. read more

I have been here with a group of friends several times and I must say, food is good but the service is lacking. I went this past weekend with another couple and we were happy with the food but not the service. The coffee was spilled in the saucer on three of our cups and when someone in our party picked up the cup, coffee dripped on her shirt...we all then soaked up the coffee on our saucers with napkins so it wouldn't happen to us. We had to ask the waitress for more napkins and spoons, and she informed us "there were no clean spoons when they set the tables and she would need to see if there were any cleaned." Another thing that is unacceptable, we ordered the special and received our juice in a flimsy bathroom size Dixie cup. We rather not even have the juice, classless and cheap. Are things so bad you can't afford a dishwasher? We would think it has to be less expensive to use plastic or glass juice glasses over Dixie cups, and definitely more class. I can't think of one other diner that uses paper cups. I do feel as they improved on some of the other reviewer's comments, our toast was cooked perfect and coffee cups were refilled promptly but there is still a way to go. Bad service will kill a diner in this area. read more

Not impressed by the new management..or the food. Staff seem like they're bored/not interested in giving good customer service. The so called "hostess" didn't seem to care about seating her customers, but cared more to socialized with the servers, who were also not taking care of waiting customers. Nothing special about this diner. Just a typical place to eat. Defiantly will not be returning. read more
