Thanks to the Yelp app, I found this awesome little barbecue joint en route to a show at Cynthia Woods. We were on a time crunch, and needed to get in and out as soon as possible. And the staff here made that happen without us even having to ask. My friend ordered our drinks and food as I went to the ladies' room to put on my contacts; and not a minute after I sat back down, there was my pipin' hot barbecue loaded baker. And I must say, I now crave that baked potato. Now most people think that it's easy to make a great baker - but I believe the contrary. I haven't had one like it since Buffalo Bill's off Hwy 6 and Clay closed back in 1999. It was called The Kitchen Sink and was ever popular amongst all the locals. A great baker's gotta be sizable, cooked perfectly, beat around the outsides to soften it up, injected with loads of butter, sour cream, cheese and topped with tender chunks of barbecue dressed in sweet and savory sauce. And this was exactly that. Service was outstanding, the ladies "powder room" was impeccably clean - and very girly - and the saloon-type decor and neighborhood ambiance makes this place a great local restaurant. Dry brisket and the house barbeque sauce is way too sweet. The worst, though, was the service. There were only 4 tables seated, so each server had a table... and we had the worst one. I actually had to get up and go to the hostess stand to get a refill - our server never came by to check on our drinks. I'm usually not one to leave reviews, but I had to make an exception. The brisket here is dry and has almost no flavor, like it was boiled and not smoked. It wasn't fresh for sure. I decided to give them another chance and got the pulled pork, again, dry and tough. Doesn't have the consistency that pulled pork should. For what you pay for these meals, I'm utterly disappointed. The only thing on the menu I actually enjoy is the hotlink sandwiches. It's kind of hard to mess up sausage. I suggest spending more time on your smoked meats to get them to perfection. A random trailer on the side of the road never smelled soooo good! The sign outside claimed them to have the best BBQ in the Woodlands (even though it's Spring? No clue, I'm confused as well) and after chowing down the brisket baked potato, I agreed! Service was friendly and kudos to them for being patient with me as I tried to figure out what I wanted to eat and as I was overwhelmed by their soda pop selection! I normally go to the pit masters on sawdust. We went to the rayford location yesterday to save us from that awful traffic. It was awesome! I think their food is really good. They have the same quality at both locations. The rayford location is an actual restaurant. Unlike the sawdust shop, the guys at rayford opened the door, sat us down an waited on us. The service was excellent!!!!! My husbands tea was never empty, they came by to check on us frequently and they even timed our to go order perfectly with the check. As we left Everyone said goodbye. Had the brisket, hot links, beans and fries. The brisket was solid, moist and tender with a hint of smoky flavor. The hot link was similar, however the spicy version was too light on the heat. The sides, beans and fries, were done well but nothing special. Beans were just beans and sauce with no meat/pork in them. Price for the brisket/sausage and two sides was 11. I would have preferred a larger brisket portion. If you want a draft beer your choices are bud light or miller light, so don't expect a wide variety. Well I'm no BBQ expert but this place is pretty darn good. Came in with one of my bros to have meal worthy of a king. Indeed we had one,I ordered the tall Texan due to so many of my fellow yelpers raving about it. I was not disappointed it consists of chopped beef,sausage links, american cheese,swiss cheese and onion rings all squeezed in between a nice burger bun. My husband has been raving non stop about the brisket he had here so I stop in to order one myself. Now im from up north and I've only had brisket a few time down here in texas. One being the famous salt lick in Austin and the other was the corkscrew bbq. So you see my comparison standards is high. Their sausage reminded me of Kabasa but slightly more smoking also cooked perfectly and sliced to eatable portion science!! The coleslaw has a southern thang not traditional, it's vinegary and seems like it has celery seed opposed to the mayonnaise and cream coleslaw so many of us are used you but very tasty. There peach cobbler was also very tasty the only thing that it was missing was whip cream and it would have been perfect l! It's our first experience and we will be back for sure! I absolutely love the pulled pork sandwich, potato salad, and a Frostie grape soda. Once I find something I like at a restaurant, I almost always order it every single time I eat there. And since I love this combo I order exactly the same thing every visit. That being said, I tried the cobbler for dessert one time, and wasn't a fan. The topping wasn't sweet enough for me. The pulled pork is Memphis Style (dry rub not sauce). I like their BBQ sauce and just add more at the table. The potato salad has extra fresh dill (yum!). And yeah, I like grape soda....Frostie's not my favorite, but it's there so I'll drink it. This is by far my favorite BBQ place, and it just happens to be close! The decor is old-time saloon, and creates a wonderful vibe. On weekday lunches, the place is always packed, so be ready for that. The evenings are a little bit slower. The food is fantastic. I highly recommend the pulled pork, the smoked turkey and the potato salad, although that hasn't been anything there I haven't liked. If you're truly hungry, go for the Tall Texan, although beware, you aren't allowed to change anything on it, so don't ask. We have office meetings of about 6 folks there somewhat regularly, and it's by far our favorite place to go. Perfectly suitable for both family and business. We've taken our 4-year-old and baby there many times, although I wouldn't say that it's geared toward kids. read more

Have you ever been served good Texas BBQ by a large Rugby playing man from Wales? Well after last night I can say that I have, and it was fantastic. It was decided this week that the guys should all meet up at a more family friendly environment so that we could bring our wives, girlfriends and children along, but still have the ability to indulge in a beer or too should we so desire. I searched and searched and searched and out of blind faith decided to give Pit Master BBQ a shot. I called them up yesterday morning and asked if I could reserve room for about 30 people (what-and-with families coming and all), and the lady on the other end surprisingly said, "no problem!" Well fast forward to 8 hours later when it finally comes time to show up and I walk in to claim our table, and to be honest I was nervous. I had not told them that we were a group of surly leather-clad bikers that would descend on the place of business like a horde of roving barbarians. Luckily the staff did not blink an eye, and for the most part the customers didn't either except for some bemused looks as this very nice establishment was washed over with a wave of bikers. They let us rearrange the tables out on the patio which was nice of them, and our waiter Johnny was great. He didn't screw up a single order and never lost his patience with us. He really helped make the night. Be sure to ask for him when you are there. You can't miss him he is a hulk of a man with an unmistakable accent. He didn't complain about splitting checks or anything else like that and he made sure our glasses or bottles were never empty. Very kind to have put up with us like he did. It was as quiet G-Rated night as we had age range from 3 to 70 there to enjoy the food and everyone, myself included, loved their food. I was trying to find a good BBQ place not too far away from my place in the Spring/Woodlands area so I hopped on to Yelp. I was a bit skeptical after the last place I tried, Pappas BBQ. which I found to be an affront to BBQ. My girlfriend and I decided to try this place out on a Saturday afternoon. Her favorite place is County Line and she is a pulled pork sandwich person. The interior is a nice western cafe style setting. We were promptly seated. The wait staff was very friendly, courteous and prompt. Within about 5 minutes of placing our order our food arrived ready to eat. I had the Pit Master Special (brisket, sausage, ribs) with potato salad and BBQ beans. The brisket was good, but not the best I've ever had. The sausage was very flavorful and I loved the ribs. They fell right off the bone and had a wonderful smoky infusion. I tried the meats without their sauce the first time and then tried them with sauce. The brisket was better with, but neither the ribs or sausage needed it in my opinion. To each his/her own! The potato salad used red potatoes, which I prefer. It was pretty good, but I have yet to find a potato salad I like as much as my Mom's homemade version. The baked beans had some BBQ meat in them and they were some of the best restaurant beans I can remember having. My girlfriend was a huge fan of the pulled pork sandwich. She is a sauce person and their sauce wasn't quite up to her requirements, but she said it was still fairly good. She also had the fried okra and she said she's had better. She like the unsweetened tea a lot. Overall it was a very good BBQ place and I will definitely be going back in the future.
