Pita GR surprised me a little bit. They are highly rated on Yelp but FOOD So far, I've tried the Beef/lamb gyro Pita and the Braised Lamb Pita. The protein, fries, pita, and other ingredients were all great. I don't have any complaints. Both were good but the Braised Lamb surprised me. It's not commonly offered at other restaurants and it was really tender and flavorful. SERVICE Friendly and good INSIDE There's a good number of seats and tables inside. It's comfy. The restroom is kind of strange. Not sure if the door locks. PARKING Shared, large parking in the rear. All of the stores here have a somewhat unique set up. The buildings are all up next to the street side. Only the sidewalk is between the shops and the street.

I was craving a frozen yogurt and noticed this place sells it! I ordered the frozen yogurt and This is the best frozen yogurt I have ever had! I usually like eating Greek yogurt because of the taste and the frozen yogurt doesn't taste like it's artificial! I taste like Greek yogurt, frozen! The service is fast and the ambience is really cute.

Came here again and the food was awesome! Plenty food for the amount you pay. The tempura zucchini is seriously the best I've had! Hands down. Service was good. I did have to wait a bit to get my takeout order, but the people were very friendly and helpful. Ambiance is casual and comfortable. Plenty of seating for those who want to eat there and even had some outdoor seating as well.

Nice sized, clean, restaurant. Restaurant is in a strip mall with plenty of parking. The service was helpful and friendly. The food was phenomenal. Hot, made to order, and delicious. My husband and I will be back to try other dishes.

This is a really great place. I've had pita fast pita. This pita is Great. On this visit I had the lamb pita. It's comes with a side of fries. Take a turn away from the normal burger and fries. This is an awesome change from the normal fast food lunch or even dinner. The service is top notch. So helpful if you aren't sure what you want. The ambiance is nice with Greek music in the air. Overall well priced.

I spotted this place while driving to See's Candies and decided to give it a try, so glad I did. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was on point. We were greeted right away, and the whole place had a warm, welcoming, homey vibe. The menu selection is solid. We ordered the beef gyro and the chicken souvlaki plate. The beef gyro was very tasty, the meat was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. The chicken souvlaki was also delicious, but the real standout for me was the hummus. It's made in-house, and you can absolutely tell, creamy, warm, and honestly one of the best hummus dishes I've had. It even brought back memories of Papa Cristo back in Mid-City LA, that's how good it was. If you're craving quality Mediterranean food, don't pass this gem up.

I went to Pita GR since I really needed lunch before a doctor's appointment that was in the same plaza and have been on a Mediterranean kick lately. I decided to give the Lamb Gyro Street Style a try. The portion size was okay. The meat was dry and not much flavor. I probably should have asked for more tzatziki sauce which have helped with that. The fries were good and I really like that they were topped with some cheese. I think it was feta. The staff were very nice abd helpful. The vibe was casual, and relaxing. The restaurant was clean and maintained. I'm glad I tried it but I probably wouldn't try it again unless I'm close by and need something fast.

I absolutely love pita gr! I come here regularly to dine in. On a Thursday evening about an hour before closing, I tried to order online and I think the system was down. Placed a call and was left on hold. I enjoy the food so much, I went to order in person. It did not appear to be busy, cooks and staff looked at me while I waited to order. After almost 10 minutes someone came to take my order. I ordered Zucchini chips, half chicken gyro, and a beef/lamb gyro wrap. Unfortunately the take out was not theirs best quality of food. Maybe because it was close to their closing time. Fried zucchini was burnt and when bit into, it tasted like grease. That was a bummer because their zucchini is one of my favorite dishes. I also did not expect the half chicken to be chopped into tiny tiny pieces like that. I should have asked that before ordering. Overall their food is great when you dine in, I do not recommend take out. Try their zucchini, spicy dip, zeus fries and their chicken skewers! Dine in food is delicious and it's always clean inside the restaurant.

The food is amazing. We had the pork pita and the beef/lamb pita with the Greek salad, the way the flavors blend together in your mouth, the fries had the perfect crunch, will definitely come again. Shoutout to the workers too, super friendly and their recommendations were definitely on point.

came here during my break to get lunch looking for something pretty healthy and honestly this is a good spot. i got a chicken salad it came with garlic fries, pita, and a really good salad with feta and red notions, and lettuce with kale it comes with sauce but tasted really good without it too the portion was also really big so i had a lunch for that day and the next. the fries are thin cut which i love and the seasoning was super good. everything was seriously a nice about to flavor, i don't like my food over seasoned so this was just what i needed. service was pretty fast especially since there were a few orders in while we came. even though i came here for takeout i saw each type of person come in: family, couple, pick up for catering, so they do it all and the vibe is chill yet corporate, it's like greek food made into a fast food restaurant, but i love it cuz honestly we need that, can't just be relying on that trip to vegas to have mad greek lol i'll def be coming back here again

This place was recommended by a Facebook Foodie Page, so I thought I would give it a try as part of my Mediterranean food extravaganza. I tried various dishes at over a dozen Mediterranean restaurants in a 6-month period. The flavors of the gyro were good. But I felt like the protein portion for the gyro was very small compared to gyros from other similar locations. Along with the gyro, I had the Zucchini fries. They looked great, just like the photos I had previously seen online. Unfortunately, they were very oily and greasy and not like I expected. The staff was friendly. Parking was super easy. The price of the gyro was comparable to other similar locations.

This is my most favorite Greek resto in Downey. They have the best lamb chops I have ever tried! Their food is delicious including their salads. I'm also addicted to their baklava lemon yogurt ice cream ! We have hosted our Christmas brunch party and my coworkers were very happy and full. Long before the pandemic, this place was awesome. The last three years however, it's no longer desirable. The manager is cool but he is not there often but when he's not there, his employees are rude and simply mean. They laugh at customers when they ask for a napkin. The blond with curly hair is a sad soul. Hate's people. She needs a job working behind a computer. The food is okay but now over priced. Messy tables. They thirst for tips snd it's just too expensive. The have the typical tips container which is fine, but then when you pay bill the computer provides options to tip ... horrible considering it's not a full service restaurant. I hate this place now. When you order take out you have to ask for eating utensils and napkins. They don't tell you this though. Yet they want you to tip them? Horrible service. It's a joke. Will never go back. read more

Pita GR was nothing but a disappointment & a waste of my money. The plate sizes are so small & the portions are even smaller. I ordered the lamp chop salad & for the same price (including tip) I paid I could have had an even bigger quantity of food with better quality. The lamb chops which first of all, were smaller than the palm of my hand - I am a small person 5'1"- second, they tasted like birria on a stick, tasteful & tender but not what I have had in the past. Personally, for me, I would not return. I can go elsewhere for better food, price, & quality. read more

I really do like this place. Their chicken salads and frozen yogurts with baklava are my favorite. However, the young guy that served us today was visibly sick and not wearing a mask. He was sniffing and his eyes were red and was not wearing a mask. We understand that it isn't mandatory anymore, but if you are working in a food place and are sick, you should be wearing a mask to not contaminate the food being served. At least that is our opinion. read more

I went here and I ordered the sweet potato pizza I pay $3 extra to get the zucchini chips and the Pita is amazing it is so flavorful the textures are phenomenal it's almost completely surprising to find that it has no meat on it because it's just really perfectly made now on the other hand the zukini chips although had a great flavor where beyond greasy to the point where I had to lay a napkin out just to attempt to get some of the grease off of it It's unfortunate to have to pay additional money for zucchini chips when gonna have to throw so many of them away they are just too greasy read more

I walked in to an empty restaurant which should have been a sign of the terrible food. The chicken was dry and the soup was cold. We waited at least 15 minutes for our food and we were the only table there. The prices were very expensive. If you want authentic Greek Food this is NOT the place. read more

This place has some of the best greek food. Fresh and delicious. It's more in the take out side but the food is just as good as any other place, if not better. We usually take it to go but the inside is nice to sit down too. I'm from out of town so anytime we're close we make it a point to stop by. read more

My wife has been to Greece, and its hard to find great taste and consistency, gyros are amazing. Lamb is not too chewy. Tzatziki is fresh and tasty. So walk in and look to your immediate left that's your menu but there's a hidden option: beef is available it's in the kabob form. Basically, choose your protein (lamb, beef, chicken or pork) then choose the size of your meal, pita bowl or a plate. They also have fountain drinks, delicious cucumber lemonade, Greek beer and alcohol. The food is very delicious. read more

First time and last time. They took a really long time for a $15 GREEK SALAD with chicken...I ordered it to go and at least 3 people who ordered after me got their food first. I let that go since depending on the order it can take longer. However, when I got home...I saw this. Very disappointed as I was craving a Greek salad. Too bad because the pictures on here looked good. Detoured 20 minutes off my way to stop here and not very happy. read more

Well hubby and I came here after seeing some Instagram hype and we were disappointed. We paid $46 for 2 items and 2 drinks and all hubby got on his plate was 4 skrewers of chicken and he ordered also a side of fries that tasted like mc donalds fries with some sprinkles of cheese. I was able to get 2 chicken skrewers with rice and salad. The food was good on flavor, but small on portion because even the chicken skrewers were very small. We wouldn't go out of our way to come here again. read more

Every item ordered was well seasoned, garnished and tasted like food I would expect to get in a hip, popular, hole- -in-the-wall joint in Hollywood and New York neighborhoods. Super impressed. If you want a taste of street Greek food, you need to try out Pita Gr! Their gyros are to die for and don't even get me started on their appetizers! This is my new go to for a post workout meal. Whether it's for a salad or one of their delicious street style pitas paired with a fine wine, you can never go wrong! In general, I don't like the marriage of Instagram to food, as it seems to lead to places making food that looks nice with taste being an afterthought. I happened to see a picture of the lamb pita with crunchy garbanzo beans on IG and fell to the temptation - with no regrets. The lamb pita was quite tasty and had fun textural contrasts. It's a somewhat simple snack and slightly expensive, but it was constructed well and everything in it tasted fresh and of great quality. I found it cool that there was small batch hot sauce on the tables. I dropped a little on spots of the pita that didn't have much of its native sauce, and it added a nice smokey, spicy touch. I decided to try this dessert, the name of which I forgot, but it was similar to galaktoboureko. Try it! Everyone working in the restaurant was super nice, and seemed to take pride in their food. That's a combination that I appreciate very much, and it makes me happy to support the establishment. read more

How hipsters ruined gyros. Sriracha doesn't belong in tzatziki sauce. French fries don't belong on gyros, neither do avocados. And that's not even close to greek salad. Most people probably love the chunks of lamb instead of classic gyro meat. No. Not when it's mutton flavor is overbearing. And really $10 for a gyro is ridiculous. read more

We love this place! The people are super friendly, especially Dino. You have to see the menu...you can't go wrong with anything. The lamb chops are unbelievable. The sauces, the pita bread...it's all amazing! We can't say enough great things. I can't wait to go back again. Just stopped by Pita GR for some Greek eats and it didn't disappoint. I got the Zeus fries loaded with beef/lamb gyro meat and it was massive - totally hit the spot. What I loved most? They don't skimp on the tzatziki sauce here, unlike other places. The fries were just the right amount of crispy and the gyro meat was spot on - well cooked and seasoned. My wife had the braised lamb pita, which was good, but she kept eyeing my gyro meat. Can't go wrong with the classic. Service was a tad slow giving us our food, but it was all good. It happens sometimes. This was our 3rd time coming here and this seemed like an outlier. The place has a really cozy feel to it with all the warm, bright colors, perfect for this chilly evening. I love all the string lights casting a golden glow. Plus, there's plenty of parking, which is always a win. Prices are reasonable too compared to others. Finally a little touch of creativity and originality in Downey. I've been waiting for a strong Greek concept to come to Downey. I grew up with lots of Greek friends and have attended the Downey Greek Festival since I was little. Pita GR brings a much needed highly developed menu without the stuffiness of a full service sit down restaurant. The food is incredible. I recommend that you order things "family style". Last time, my friends and I ordered a few different "Kilos" of lamb and pork and a few different sides. It was more than enough to eat but the real treat was the quality of the meat and vegetables. I ordered the chicken gyro with the chef's modern take on it & I just felt it was drenched in sauce, it felt too heavy, the chicken was burnt on one side so it tasted over charred & nothing about the contents of the gyro was fresh. The fries weren't anything to write home about, but I did add an extra star for the customer service because they were pleasant. I was hoping for a chicken gyro with fresh juicy tomatoes inside & some crunch, but unfortunately the flavor profile was one dimensional: salty with a side of burnt. Won't be back. read more

This little gem was quit the experience. After coming back from a trip to Greece this past summer I was thrilled to fined a Modern Greek Restaurant that served all my favorites. My pork "Yeeros" was spot on. The Pita was the perfect chew to fluff and pork belly Yeero inside was the perfect crisp to spice top all that off with that Bomb tzatziki and boom a successful expierence.
