Today was a solid 3 visit (unfortunately). It was parents weekend at ASU and our daughter invited us over for lunch. We decided on Pita as we normally can find something fairly healthy here. I wanted something other than chicken breast today so ordered the Ahi tuna dish- but was told they were out of the ahi for that dish. Bummer. So asked for the taco on the menu that was described as 'dark meat chicken in an asada sauce) and a cup of lentil soup. The soup was good; the taco was something else- chicken breast that was beyond dry in a taco. We were all hungry so I just threw some lentil soup and some of my daughters hummus on there to make it edible vs waiting for a correction. Somehow my picture of the taco is lost in space, but it was definitely chicken breast, not the dark meat I ordered. Daughter ordered the hummus with tuna- her tuna was marinated in something a bit bitter (and appeared then to be fried) and she said it was also extremely dry. The hummus was tasty tho Husband has a gyro bowl and was happy with it (yay!) My daughter ordered a Botanical Martini and she liked it as well- I didn't care for the cucumber taste. Our server was very busy, but made sure we had what we needed (Karie I believe was her name). I will say that our food runner brought our plates and we let her know we had no silverware- so she went and stood bored at the bar. We had to ask our server and she brought silverware right away. Bizarre I've been a fan of pita in the past, so assuming it was just an off day.

My long-time dining experience with Pita Jungle goes all the way back to my ASU college days in the 90's. I used to grab lunch at the original location on Apache Boulevard after class all the time. It was a big hit with the students back then and still is today. Pita Jungle opened its first Valley location almost 30 years ago in 1994 not too far from this Tempe location. Three ASU students spearheaded this place and today they have a location in the heart of Sun Devil nation on popular Mill Ave. Pita Jungle has locations all over Arizona. I have visited this location on a few occasions and enjoy the art work on the walls whenever I'm dining in. Pita Jungle serves healthy Mediterranean food. The menu consists of healthy sandwiches, bowls and wood-fired pizzas. They accommodate all lifestyles including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free. I'm always down for a Gyro or Chicken Shawarma with some hummus. I also love the Wood-Fired Pizzas, the Chicken Combo Platter and Tikka Masala. Definitely grab some tea with your meal. They are always refreshing and flavorful.

Pita Jungle is my go to in PHX, they have an excellent menu if you love traditional Greek food. This particular location in Mill Ave is always busy, and with all the food options around they have to earn that food traffic. Parking varies on the street, just check the street signs that day. The dining room is very large with ample seating spaces, and a cool bar to sit and have a quick lunch. The art and decor is vibrant and fitting for the area. Food wise I always get the Philly steak pita, I literally haven't tried anything else in over 5 years. It's that good! The steak is flavorful, the peppers and onions, wrapped in that warm soft pita make it a must have if this is your first time. If you don't like red meat, then a chicken pita is a good plan b. Pro Tip: Sign up for the rewards program, and instead of annoying e mails all day you will actually get some free desserts or BOGO's.

I had a great visit here for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Pita Jungle has a wide selection on its menu: wraps, bowls, salads, burgers, wood-fired pizzas, and several chicken entrees. This location is very large with ample seating. I was seated immediately and service was attentive throughout my visit. I opted for the Philly Steak Pita. This was served piping hot and was very flavorful: premium shaved beef cuts, roasted bell peppers and onions, roasted mushrooms, and mozzarella on a Greek pita. Pita Jungle has several locations around Arizona and, after this first experience, I would not hesitate to dine at another one again.

Shawarma Chicken and Chicken & Hummus Tacos

The food is fantastic! I stopped in solo and hadn't actually planned on eating but the cool vibes and Inflation Buster menu caught my eye. I picked out a cup of Lemon Basil Chicken Soup and 2 chicken tacos. The soup was very warm and hearty, and the tacos were overflowing with flavor. I liked the hummus & chicken better though. The service was slightly rocky, but ok considering it was a busy Saturday afternoon. Overall, good experience. My vegan friend raved about it too.

    Chicken street stir- fry

The visit didn't start off great, in all honesty. But to be fair, I think there was a miscommunication. I had just given blood and spent a few hours studying, so I figured I better get something healthy yet hardy for lunch, I walked in what I assume was the back end. A guy looked at me, and I said, "Hi, it's just me." To which he pointed and said, "Over there." Which I thought meant to grab one of the many open tables, but I guess what he meant was to go to the hostess booth, which I didn't know was there, so I sat down, and waited, and waited, and waited. Finally, the waitress asked if I had been helped. I told her that I had not, and she apologized and got me a menu. I quickly ordered my drink and food. I was so happy that my guava lemonade wasn't too sugary but had enough substance to be refreshing. It was needed after the weird feeling of lacking blood. Haha. If you want a great spice kick with a cooling combination. I highly recommend the Street Stir-fry with chicken and the regular hummus. The spice and delicious combination of the street stir-fry was completely mind-blowing. The chicken was cooked beautifully, and all the vegetables were perfectly proportioned, as well as the moments of ginger were great. As spicy as my dish was, it was not overwhelming, but when a slight spice would build up, the pita and hummus were the incredible touch of coolness that I needed. It felt like my taste buds took a needed swim after licking a jalapeño on a dare. I also got the kneffe cheesecake... which was... interesting. It wasn't bad.... but it's not something I'd get again. The texture was just off and not my cup of tea on the flavor either. But I refuse to waste food and, of course, ate it all. However, the opposite can definitely be said about the rice pudding... in all the right ways. Meaning, it was delicious and not too sweet but flavorful. Soft and went well with the cinnamon and strawberries. Next time I come back, because there will be a next time, I will be sure to check in at the hostess booth first.

This is our favorite before seeing a show spot- Allie was great and made wonderful suggestions. I really appreciate the level of teamwork here. We'll be back!

Great ambiance. Conscientious staff. I asked our server for no ice due to health condition and when she brought me my delicious guava lemonade ice-free. The portobello mushroom burger was muah!

This place has a lot of vegan options and non vegan for everyone else, which is great since I had not been to any of their other locations after their Pasadena, CA location closed and the vegan menu back then was more limited. The cilantro hummus was delicious as I remember. Their wraps snd sauces were also great! The staff was also very friendly and the restaurant has a relaxed vibe. I would definitely return to try some of their many other vegan items.

    Keto and Paleo Platter

After a day of seeing the Botanical Gardens, we decided to stop for lunch at this establishment. I'm shocked this location isn't more popular. Large selection of vegan and gluten-free alternatives on the menu. It's a great place to hang out. Great customer service at a reasonable price. Everything is scrumptious, too. A return visit is long overdue. We had the steam veggie, nordic super green salad, keto and paleo platter and the garlic dip, pita and olives, all were great. It's a little blank but what else do you expect from a green and veggies option. I was a little concerned about the sit-down vs. order at the counter situation, but the service was quick and attentive. I would definitely come back here again. The employees are courteous and helpful. While it took a while for the manager to respond, he eventually came over and assisted. Hopefully I'll be back in the neighborhood soon enough to pay you another visit.

Mediterranean tofu (fried with no pickles)
    David L.

They have a vegan menu with a bunch of interesting items on it. I enjoyed the Mediterranean tofu with garlic fries. Combining the two into one plate made them even better. Adding friends to my meal was only an extra $2.39 and they gave a pretty big portion. The server was good, made my tofu a little crispier than it usually is due to me asking. $13.38 and I am a full and happy man. My first time at pita jungle and I enjoyed my experience. I will be coming back to try the fallafal and other dishes on the vegan menu. Only negative part about this place is the parking. They only have two free parking spots, every other parking spot is $3 per hour.

    "The Most Excellent Lamb Burger"
    Mark G.

I had "The Most Excellent Lamb Burger"and it truly was most excellent! This burger goes down as one the THE best burgers I've ever eaten. A must try if you're eating at Pita Jungle! The service was amazing as well. Thank you for a great experience!!

    Kristen L.

The curry was underwhelming in that it was watery. I was expecting it to have a more robust flavor and texture like found in other restaurants. The presentation of the food was beautiful. The pea sprouts were fresh and tasted like snap peas. The restaurant was quiet on the weekend when I went. The server was nice. The restaurant was clean. The decorations was interesting with pictures drawn here and there in the restaurant.

The patio is nice with lots of shrubs right outside the rail. The murals on the wall are pretty darn cool - - they're like enlarged historic photos of the area. I love them! There's the regular loaded fries and wings, salads, and a nice election burgers. We ordered the Philly Salad and the Very Summer Salad with a side order of fries. They make their own ranch, and it is good. I will say they don't seem to skim on salad ingredients either - - the Philly salad was covered with shaved beef, and my berry salad had a lot of chicken and tons of blue cheese. The fries were delicious - - slightly seasoned and crispy. This place is clearly dog friendly. In fact the day we went there was a sweet Pitbull named Daisy who literally hopped up on a bar stool and sat there like a little angel the entire time. The bar had a dog full of water that they sat down on the counter next to her owner's beer. They also have dog biscuits to give. It made my day to see that sweet little dog hanging at the bar having a treat. This really is kind of a spot that feels like it's probably the hangout spot of many people. Great bar food and a good selection of beers. What's not to love?

Cocktails were made well, I'd come back and try others. Our friends suggested The Hudson which worked for me, it's been sitting on my list for a while. Bar food was pretty good. Next time I'll try a burger since people like them a lot in reviews, and I love a good burger. This visit we had the carne asada cheesesteak with some onion rings and boneless wings. Both items were good. I think for me, 4 stars seems right since there's an element of having to order at the bar and then come back up if anything is needed. Making it feel somewhat self service but I'm sure we tipped like full service. And at first we were trying to figure out the menu, where to order, and apparently we had a learning curve that night. Brains were tired. We sat outside with the misters at night. That was totally fine. It wasn't one of the nasty hot days.

They still have the…read more"scan this code to view the menu and order" system, which I'm guessing came from COVID ... the system is annoying and not easy to use, even for techie people. Modifications, re-ordering drinks, even just reading the menu, etc... just not easy. I'm with the boomers on this one - just give me paper! I suppose it is nice that I can get a drink without waiting for someone, but at the same time service is not great because people don't come to check on you unless you order through your phone. They still want an auto-gratuity if you're with more than 6 people, even though we all ordered separately. I understand that's pretty normal - but what service did they give us besides putting the food on the table? None! The food itself is pretty good, not fantastic but good enough for the kind of place it is. The games are fun and there is a good selection. The ordering system and lack of service just really brings it down, though - it kinda feels like better quality fast food at that point.

We arrived in time for sunset, and it did not disappoint. Watching the sunset over the Phoenix skyline made for a beautiful evening, and the restaurant itself has a unique atmosphere. We had a 7:30 reservation and were checked in right on time, we were seated outside, but there was very little shade, and unfortunately it was a hot, humid, and windy evening, so it wasn't the most comfortable dining experience. Our server, Sergio, was friendly, but we had to ask several times for water refills. One of the highlights before the meal was the complimentary bread service. The bread and butter were delicious, and the staff member who brought it out took the time to explain each item on the board which was a nice touch. The food was good. The 8 oz filet mignon was cooked perfectly and was the highlight of the meal, tender, flavorful, and worth ordering. We had enjoyed the desserts. The chocolate mousse was rich and creamy, and the Pavlova was light, fresh, and beautifully presented with berries. That said, the outdoor seating wasn't quite as relaxing as we expected. It was pretty windy the evening we visited, which made dining outside a little uncomfortable. The resort Pool is directly below the patio, and there happened to be a party going on, so there was quite a bit of noise. The restaurant also overlooks the freeway. Traffic wasn't heavy during our visit, but I imagine the road noise and air quality could be more noticeable during busier times. Overall, if you are looking for a scenic dinner with a memorable sunset, top of the rock is worth visiting. Just be prepared for the weather if you sit outside and know that the ambiance can depend on what's happening around the resort. The steak alone is reason enough to come back.

Hostesses and dining room staff were friendly and provided excellent service. Unfortunately, the kitchen had an off night. Free valet parking is available (tips appreciated) and they do have a handicap ramp, but it's a long walk and it wraps clear around the restaurant. We were told that there was an elevator from the downstairs event area, however the door was locked, so we ended up taking our time and my 93-yo mother-in-law walked up the multiple level of stairs. DRINKS: We tried the non-alcoholic Basil & Lemons ($12) and a Berry Limeade ($16.50). Both drinks looked great, were well made, and tasty. Nice cocktail menu and a decent wine list. Unfortunately, I didn't hear if they had a corkage fee or allowed you to bring in your own bottles. FOOD: Kenny waited on us and the service was excellent (5 stars). He started us out with some complementary bread, including cornbread and focaccia with two different types of butter. We chose to share the Oyster Rockefeller ($21), which comes with five pieces and then for our entrées, we had the Calabrian Shrimp Toasts ($19), the Seared Duck Breast ($46) with Shiitake mushrooms and a blackberry glaze, and the Black Truffle Scallops & Risotto ($51) with wild mushrooms. The oysters came out shortly after our cocktails, and they were delicious. The issue was that the kitchen must have forgotten my scallops, as we waited about 45 minutes (maybe more) for our entrées. When they finally arrived, my scallops were fresh off the grill and hot, but the shrimp toast and duck were barely warm. It seemed like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. My wife sent her duck back to be reheated, and unfortunately it didn't really make it that much warmer, and it cooked it a little past the medium rare temperature she requested. I will say that Kenny apologized for the long wait and comped us a dessert. We tried the French Opéra Cake ($16) which was amazing! The scallops & risotto were delicious, and the shrimp was good, but the duck dish was sorely lacking. Overall, we had an okay experience, and I hope it was just a fluke night for the kitchen. I would return and give them another try, as the service and most of our food and drinks were good. In better weather, I'd like to try the outdoor deck, as the views in the evening are spectacular!
