Wow! I read all of the positive reviews and at first was a bit skeptical. In fact, I though to myself "How can a place be so good?" - but it was. Everything really was SO fresh and and made with care. The crew there was also super friendly. I really can't rave enough. I think my biggest regret now is that I hadn't stopped here earlier since I pass it every day after work. One other tidbit I must point out is that their baklava rocks too. What looks like a modest no-frills take out joint is actually a 5 star restaurant in disguise! Up until now there was only one place in all of NYC that made a chicken kebab platter good enough to entrust my stomach with. Pita Palace has now taken over as my main kebab or falafel place. Best food and best service around! My husband and I have eaten here several times and the food is always fresh, piping hot, flavorful and delicious. My go to is the chicken kabob platter which comes with the most incredible chicken, several salads, pita and rice. My husband loves everything, but his new fave is the kufta kabob. I really love this place. Whether it's an expensive meal at a Michelin starred restaurant or a hot dog from a cart, there are a few things that separate "the best" from "the rest;" Care and thought put into both the food and service. Pita Palace really does right by the food and the customer. You can tell they are serving fresh food and preparing it properly. This is a family run place, and they are incredibly friendly people that take great pride in the food they serve you. The platters come with an assortment of fresh salads and sides prepared just right. The kebabs are made with fresh ingredients and cooked expertly. I was even delighted to see my falafel hand scooped and formed before being dropped into hot oil, babied before emerging with a crust of perfectly crisp peaks and valleys and an impossibly moist and fluffy interior. It may be the best falafel I've ever had, and I think it's even better than the specimen at Taim in NOLITA. This would be enough for most, but it was nice to recognize the extra thought put into the rest the platter. A small section of white onion griddled until lightly marked was a pleasant surprise, as was the fresh herb garnish. It's apparent to me they are serving you a true meal here...an experience. Not just food. The Pita sandwiches are equally as admirable, but if I had one criticism I would like a slightly fluffier Pita. But that's nitpicking. And it's all extremely affordable. I'm not comparing Pita Palace to a fine dining, Middle-Eastern restaurant. But it's amazing for what it is...good, honest, true-to-the-culture food. I even think the falafel alone is destination-worthy if you live in another part of the city. Pita Palace deserves your attention. read more

When I finished moving into my apartment on a Sunday, I was hungry and Pita Palace reignited my faith in ethnic food places in Williamsburg that gentrification can't do away with. I was a bit skeptical when I saw 5 stars and thus had to see if this was true. As soon as I stepped in, I was greeted and welcomed by 3 people behind the counter, one - the owner's niece - even came around the counter to talk to me since she found out I was new to the neighborhood. After ordering the chicken kabob sandwich, I rushed home to devour this manna/food from heaven and my tastebuds were liberated. Chicken is cooked, seasoned and spiced to PERFECTION, vegetables taste fresh and complementary to the taste, and remembering that family-style customer service from the owner's niece and two sons made me realize why this place exists with 5 stars. And for any of you non-believers thinking this might be a one time thing or beginners luck, I went again yesterday and ordered the chicken kabob platter (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) and was thoroughly impressed with the food (the bed of rice they serve with the plentiful kabobs is amazing). I also saw the sons consoling a customer and talked to the customer - who was clearly going through a rough time - outside and sat on the bench extending a warm hug and bountiful smiles. Only a few bites of salad and not as much hummus as one expects, tho the chicken portion was good. Though everything is reasonably priced, I favor paying more for a platter than a sandwich, for a bigger meal. Maybe they'll get the note and I'll become a weekly regular, because fresh mid-eastern food is great to have nearby! I thought Oasis was the best falafel restaurant, but Pita Palace Corp is way better. The fillings (cabbage, turkish salad, tabouli, pickles, banana peppers, and more) inside their falafel are all so delicious. The falafels were cooked immaculately. I've never had zatar pie before, but this one tasted so good. The olive oil on top added great flavor. The rice pudding is a must try! It was the perfect dessert. The prices are very affordable. This was probably one of the best falafel sandwiches I have ever had. The falafel was crispy on the outside, and piping hot on the inside. The pita was fresh and didn't fall apart as I was eating the sandwich. The cucumbers, tomato, and cabbage, as well as the hummus, tahini and hot sauce were just the right amount and were evenly disbursed throughout the sandwich. It was super cheap, at about $7.
