Still looking for great Mediterranean food and found Classic Red Hot Albasha (CRHA). Located in Chesterfield, MO CRHA is definitely a hidden hot spot since it took us twice to find the location. Located in a strip mall, CRHA has great food and a very diverse menu. While we visited for Mediterranean food based on Yelp Army reviews, several patrons were visiting and ordering their version of Chicago Hot Dogs. I know that may appear unusual, but CRHA not only serves delicious Mediterranean cuisine, but also traditional American food like burgers, wraps as well as hot dogs. (Try the Lemon Seasoned fries!). I was excited to see traditional items like shawarma, fattoush salad, hummus and other delicious foods. Restaurant was very clean but does have limited seating. Not sure if large groups could reserve seating but recommend calling ahead. Classic Red Hot Albasha is a great place and if you're in the area will provide a delicious experience. The food and service are amazing! The kabsa, mansaf, and gyro are the best. I've been visiting regularly for a couple of years.

Interesting in that you can go Chicago/sandwich or Mediterranean here, or combine the two. I combined them, which probably isn't the way to go. The two types don't really meld. But that's on me. Chicago dogs were straight up. Hit all the requirements for a solid creation. Fries that come with them were hot & crispy, if somewhat overly salted with their seasoning. Grape leaves and sambousik also were well done - standard but fine. read more

This little spot is a hidden gem run by a very kind couple with incredible work ethic. I have over several occasions seen them working tirelessly to prepare the meals from scratch and you can taste the difference in their food. This is as close as it gets to eating real middle eastern food in this area. Everything we have tried here was delicious. My favorite middle eastern dishes from this spot are their mixed grill platter, fatoush salad, and their gyro salad - which are all exceptional. The meat is juicy and cooked to perfection which the burst of flavors in the salad makes the combo satisfying. If you're not a huge fan of middle eastern food but you like to try unique American food/treats, then this spot is also the place to be. Went for a Mediterranean-Food fix and they clearly got high marks! I was fooled by the name "Classic Red Hots" as I rarely eat hot dogs. After having been to over 6 other restaurants, Albashas nailed the flavors we craved. Definitely going back for their Eggplant Baba ghanouj and a fork tender Lamb Mansaf which was plated on a bed of rice with lemon-pita sauce and crunchy fancy sliced almonds. The Mediterranean Persian Lebanese flavors really shine in this somewhat hidden gem with counter-service & takeaway. Enjoyed w pics 2022Nov02 outside for lunch. Hands down the best Gyro I've ever had! I'm from LA and have tried various versions, but this place has landed at the very top of my list! I got it with every on it...I think it's the yummy sauce they use that sets it ahead of the game! Great prices for the portions they serve! Love the simplicity of the shop and the heartwarming service here. Fast service as well! Perfect spot to stop with the kids! They loved their Hot Dogs (didn't take a pic) and the cheese fries have them asking me to take them back already! Lastly, the Deep Fried Twinkies...words can not describe! lol but I will try my best... yum, yum, yummy!!! The heap of fine powdered sugar on top is what gives it a similar taste of a funnel cake (the good kind you get at Six Flags or Disneyland) but then you hit the center and the cool cream balances out the fried outside. I go there often. The food is really, really good. Sometimes, I'll stop in just to get an order of hummus to go. They have the very best hummus that I've eaten in the St Louis metro area, and I've tried a lot. Th only negative would be the pita served it's the hummus; sometimes it's dried out and nearly brittle. We prefer soft pita with our hummus. Definitely try this place. Had craving for a Chicago hot dog on a hot day. Have been here before. First impression is outside sidewalk furniture is pushed to the side with sidewalk weeds and trash about. Both sides of the window is dirty with the look of being that way for years. Inside it looks as if they have added new tables and chairs. All the prices on this sight are very old. House special of two dogs, fries and a large soda has increased 60% to $11.89 from $7.49? The credit card machine is flashing and being difficult. I asked for a glass multiple times. Nice lady finally pointed to the soda cooler. It seems the fountain soda and ice maker is broken. That's not what I wanted but the order was in. The food was very good. Bottom line is they need to update the photos on here (and in the store) to current pricing. They need to clean (or replace) the windows and fix the soda, ice and credit card machines. Maybe take down the plastic Covid era sheeting so it's easier to communicate with employees that don't speak much English. Food is great here. They just need to work on the atmosphere. read more

I enjoyed the Chicago dog here but was disappointed it wasn't the traditional Vienna Beef with natural casing, which provides a distinctive snap and taste with each bite. I was looking forward to the dog you get in Chicago--especially since the Vienna Beef logo is all over the restaurant. Crisp and seasoned fries were just like those you get in Chicagoland hot dog stands. A bit slow: four customers awaited their orders when I stepped to the counter. I just moved into the area, never really got anything from this strip mall except firehouse subs. I really wanted a gyro, gave this place a try. Ordered directly off their online menu, that was super easy cause it was done through grub hub. Upon entering, the man at the counter was extremely rude. He asked for my order, I had to repeat it about 10 times, said my name, my order number, the items on the order, even showed him my receipt, and it was as if he didn't believe I had placed an order. After finally receiving my food, I got the Chicago dog and a beef (what I thought was going to be beef) gyro. Chicago dog was ok, bu the beef if you can call it beef gyro was interesting. First of all, super salty, second the "beef" was more like mystery meat. I thought it was beef, tasted more like a breakfast sausage, could've been lamb, was cut into these rectangular slabs. I stumbled across this treasure looking for middle eastern food in West County. All middle eastern food is made from scratch, and it shows. The couple who run this place are very welcoming and it feels as if you are at their home eating home-cooking. I can't speak to the dogs and burgers, but there was a time when St. Louis was spoiled for choice when it came to middle eastern food. But today, this place is the only one worth going to. The lamb mansaf was incredible and this is the only place where you can get it DAILY. But the true test of any middle eastern restaurant is the falafel and hummus. And this place delivered the best hummus I have tried in St. Louis. The portion sizes are generous; the condiments are authentic. The shawarma was fantastic and the baba ghanouj was on point. The last couple times I've been in here the woman is very unpleasant and doesn't listen carefully to your order. Although the food is good when you order something she insist sometimes you ordered something else. Great option for a cheap lunch! I ordered a falafel wrap and lentil soup ($2.29 for the soup!!! That's unheard of), and my total was less than $8 before tip for a filling, healthy meal. The lentil soup was tangier than I am used to, but I still enjoyed it. The falafel wrap tasted great. You wouldn't think that it would be too difficult to screw up the cooking of a hot dog. Incredibly, many places do in the STL area, but Classic Red Hots is not one of them. I am happy to have found a place that offers the "true" Chi dogs with the same consistency and taste of my former stomping grounds. Not easy to find, as it is buried in the back in a strip mall, an associate from Chicago turned me toward CRH. A simple hole-in-the-wall with a small counter and 5 wedged in tables, CRH offers dogs (Vienna Beef) , Italian beef, and deli-style sandwiches. The traditional Chi dog (a special with two, fries, drink for @$8) is cooked perfectly with a nice combination of the usual toppings of relish, mustard, pickle, etc., Relish was quite good. The chili dog was decent, but quite a mess. The chili had a little punch to it, but was too runny. It was more of a dog/bun dropped into a few ounces of chili. There is a reason they provide a knife and fork as there is no way to pick up the sloppy mixture. The fries were unimpressive and overcooked. You can obtain discount coupons from their website, which makes it reasonably priced. Is it up to the places like Portillo's in Chicago? No, but this is the STL and CRH has probably the best dogs in the area. read more

Absolutely wonderful! My husband picked up Labeneh, fattoush salad, beef kabobs, and a gyro. The hummus that came with the kabobs was incredibly fresh! The fattoush salad was an incredible mix of flavors. I ate the entire thing and only had room for 2 kabobs but I can't wait to eat them for lunch tomorrow. Easy to miss, but absolutely amazing. A while back I was picking up an order for third party delivery. While waiting, I chatted with the owner for a good bit. I could tell that he takes great pride in the food he prepares, so I decided to return for a gyro for myself. Extremely filling and delicious.
