I frequented both the Pitfire in DTLA and Mohawk Bend. I loved this space and hoped something great would move in after losing Mohawk Bend. I am happy that its Pitfure. They do a great job at being in a community and their happy hour menu is a big hit with my family. We had a full dinner for under $50 and that NEVER happens lately! And the staff and space are great. The food was amazing--no doubt about it! Unfortunately, the only thing that made the experience uncomfortable was the person who took our order (and was also the bartender). He came across as rude, with a look on his face like he didn't want to be there. Since it was our first time, we took a little time reading the menu, but he seemed annoyed by that. The customer service really missed the mark, which is disappointing because the food itself was excellent. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile and menus by our lovely server Randy. Food was good. It came out pretty quickly. I like to have appetizer come out first though before the main dishes. Also I don't care for restaurants that make you order at the bar. It was slow enough that I think they coulda gone the extra mile in service. Place basically remained the same from what it used to be. Kids enjoyed their food. They were out of a lot of the drafts so we asked for recommendations and the bartender looked annoyed and didn't provide any help. Food runner slammed our food on the table and didn't say a word. I am constantly pleasantly surprised by this spot. As an east coaster, my pizza expectations are high and Pitfire does a damn good job exceeding them. First of all, the service is great. Notably Bobby & Will went above and beyond to make this a good experience. Bobby recommended the Naught Sauce nitro stout (out of this world) and Will made sure everything we got was up to our standards. We ate the honey bear pizza, caesar salad, and brussel sprouts.
