We were big patrons of Mohawk Bend and this is the first time visiting since Pitfire opened. Happily surprised by food, drink & service. Menu was large but not too large where you start to compromise food quality. Service was great and the drinks were 10/10. So sad to see Mohawk Bend go, but this is a happy addition to the neighborhood. read more

Disclaimer: I did go on opening night and could be slightly biased here having been a big fan of Mohawk Bend (the previous tenant in this space), but all in all this was just OK. Upon initially being seated in the beautiful indoor patio area, my girlfriend and I were told we had to order everything at the bar (a completely different area). We were then charged for our entire meal upfront when placing the order, and asked to consider adding a tip having received virtually no service at that point. Then despite being given a number for our table we still had to stand there and wait for our drinks to be made before finally going back to our seats. I know it's post-pandemic dining here so I maybe I shouldn't be surprised by this sort of thing, but there seemed to be ample staff walking around (enough to have several people going to check in with tables later in the meal) so I don't really understand the lack of proper table service and making diners do most of the legwork. Vibe killer. As for the food, the pepperoni pizza was serviceable, but after eating half of the pie (3 slices) I did not find it filling whatsoever. In fact, I was hungry again by the time I got home. Your mileage here may vary. We were given a coupon upon entry that entitles us to a free pizza on our next visit, but I don't know if we'll bother making it back. read more

He was so nice and so funny and made me feel so welcome that I didn't feel funny at all being by myself, and the margarita pizza was excellent! Pitfire is a nice family-friendly option for pizza in Echo Park. This location is quite large so there's always space, and they play games on the TVs in the bar area. The pizzas themselves won't change your life, but they are pretty good. They sometimes over char the crust, leaving them inedible and burned, but the servers are always happy to have the kitchen remake the pies, so it's not a huge deal. This location also offers a variety of vegan and vegetarian options! The whole staff is really nice from the cooks to the bartenders to the servers and maître d's. Service is one of their biggest pluses! read more

Had a solo date here while visiting LA and am pleased to say it was probably my favorite dining experience in the city. The service was impeccable. Mara was incredibly knowledgeable and made me feel like a VIP. I don't think you can go wrong with any slice, but the Honey Bear blew my mind and eating the leftovers cold from the fridge the next morning was a wonderful way to relive my fabulous meal. Loved the look of the place especially the fireplace at the far end of the restaurant but the food is the real killer. I was happy to see that they more or less kept the space in tact and added a bar with a few tvs- I sat at the bar to watch the game and was helped by the super friendly bartender Will. He helped me choose a beer (there are a ton to choose from!), recommended some customer favorites off the menu, and overall had a nice chat. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent! My first time at a Pitfire was to visit this new location in my neighborhood. The space is a converted movie theatre, which was very nicely executed. It's spacious, but without being cavernous. There is plenty of bar seating and more casual high-top tables, and then a beautiful dining room with a fire place if you want that vibe. It smelled like an NYC pizza parlor when I walked in. The staff was genuinely friendly and attentive. The beer list was impressive, featuring old favorites and then some producers I rarely see on the west coast. The kale salad and mushroom pizza were delicious. I will be back to try more! read more
