We hosted our kids' birthday party here last year and it was incredible! Mai and her husband went above and beyond to make everything seamless. We chose a paint-and-gaming party with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme, and they were completely open to customizing the painting. If you want something unique, you're not limited to the samples on their walls, which is fantastic. Because our guests were ages 5-8, they even pre-drew the painting template onto all 25 canvases, which was such a thoughtful touch. The studio has a great backdrop wall for photos, and they even added custom birthday graphics on their TVs. Mai and her husband also helped with setup, and they were so easy and enjoyable to work with. We were able to rent out the entire studio as a private event, which meant we could bring our own drinks. There's plenty of space for adults to relax while the kids paint and game, plus lots of room for food. They recommended the pizza place next door, which made catering super convenient, and there's no fee for bringing outside food. I would absolutely recommend this place for parties. We came in on a Sunday early evening for a friend's son's birthday party. Pixels is located in a nice small plaza area in south San Jose off Monterey Road. Parking is easy and accessible in the plaza parking lot. As soon as we walked in I was blown away seeing all the multiple activities that was being offered for the kids. There was a private gaming room in the back with several TVs mounted on the wall and a foosball. In the front room there was an area with tables and mini easels for the kids to do a Pikachu painting tutorial. There was even a cotton candy machine for everyone. The kid friendly party atmosphere was very lively and energetic. There was music blasting out loud while food and alcohol/ soda/ kids drinks were provided by our party host friend. It was also nice to see previous art work on display on the shelves and walls. We met the owner and she was very friendly and accommodating. Her and her husband were really good with the kids. Hands down the best Birthday party destination for your kid and their friends! After researching a lot we settled on Pixels and couldn't have been happier with our choice. From every single email to msg to coordinating everything, it was all done seamlessly. We did a glow in the dark slime party and my son and his friends loved picking the glow colors of their choice and started making their slime. The pixel team were such great coordinators and each and every child listened to all the instructions they were given. After enjoying the slime activity, they promptly arranged the table for food and the kids got on with that right away. We did cake after and I loved that birthday child had a stool to stand on (such a minor but imp detail that made all the diff). After everyone enjoyed some food and cake, the team brought out the cotton candy machine which was such a hit! It was the first time for some kids and every child loved it. This was then followed by a glow in the dark dance party with a fog machine.. what an amazing end to the party.. because after enjoying that much sugar, the kids needed to release all their energy via some cool dance moves. The pixel team coordinated everything so so so very well that as parents we didn't have to worry about anything.. the kids enjoyed their party while the parents could chat and enjoy adult company :) I also liked that Pixels had a lot of flexibility in terms of what food you could bring from outside, decoration, set up etc. a lot of places limit these things and that makes it harder for everyone but this was straightforward and very convenient. We had our daughter's 5th birthday party here and Mai and her husband made the whole experience fun and easy. We went with a combo glow in the dark paint and dance party. Mai was an excellent instructor with the kids. She had control of the room (~16 kids 5 and under) and they were having fun. The glow bar is essential for keeping them entertained and the dance party was the best. They broke out the fog machine and took music requests which put the party over the top. We had our daughter's 5th dinosaur themed bday here for the combo paint & slime party and it was a blast. We worked with Mai to design the perfect triceratops artwork & rainbow to paint. It's a great event space for a bday party, we had approx. 25 people attend. Starbucks in the plaza and pizza next was great and we got to bring in outside food. We also brought in our own decorations & cake. Mai and her husband are a great duo. Mai is so good with the kids and awesome hostess. Mai was very responsive with the planning and even can help with the digital invite. She kept timing for our 3 hr party. We just attended a birthday party here at Pixels and it was a great experience. It was a two hour party. They had to lights off with black lights, so all the colors shined. They started off with the painting portion of the party. The instructor was just fantastic. She easily and passionately taught the kids each step of their painting. After painting, the kids ate pizza (provided by the family of the birthday girls), then they had cake. After was some cotton candy from their cotton candy machine and finally a dance party. I had my son's 6th birthday party here and it was such an amazing experience for the (20) kids! SO many smiles and the parents were all in awe. I echo many of the reviews here: Mai and Joe are super hosts and super accommodating! With an elementary teaching background, Mai really knows how to communicate with kids and keep the energy going. Within the 2 hour time frame, there was painting, eating, cotton candy, and a mini dance session to top it off. Everything was very well organized and efficient. What a wonderful hidden gem! We came here for a 4 year old birthday party and our son loved painting with his playmates. They had face painting and an option to paint a ceramic of their choice. Mai and Joe truly went above and beyond to make our baby shower a special occasion! Booking was easy and they were very responsive in our email interactions. Pixels is a great venue for a fun party for families, kids, and adults. We were able to bring our own food and drinks, and even put some items in their kitchenette fridge to keep fresh for our guests. They were very attentive and actively helped us put up our decorations; including our big balloon garland for the photo area. That was tricky to put up, but the end result was so lovely! The venue is clean and well decorated, with ample space to walk around even with our party of 25 adults. Upbeat background music played over their speaker system while our party ate and played baby shower games. We also had the opportunity for our guests to paint ceramic or wooden trinkets. Some guests had to leave the party early, so Mai gave them a little to-go kit so they could paint at home. And the cherry on top was the sweet canvas keepsake Joe and Mai created to commemorate the occasion - a little red pram with balloons. Our guests took turns adding balloons to the canvas under Mai's direction, and it turned out so beautifully! The venue is pretty spacious; they have a game room, plenty of space for painting, and a couple of big tables for more activities. They even have a kitchen with refrigerator and freezer if you need to place a cake in there. My sister rented out the place for my niece's bday party. The owner, Mai, is so sweet and very accommodating with everything. When we came, I expected to decorate the dessert table, but to my surprise, it was already decorated! They had the backdrop, table cover and balloons for us. They also had a few slides saying "Happy Birthday Hailey" on the monitor. Such a cute addition to make the birthday girl feel special! They let us bring in food and drinks. Parents dropped their kids off and felt very safe doing so. They came back when the paintings were almost done. Mai taught the kids how to paint Cinnamon Roll. Those that didn't want to paint Cinnamon Roll could paint Roblox avatars! I love that each child was able to use their creativity and made their painting their own. Are you looking for a fun place to hang out with your kids? Do your little ones enjoy video games and art?? If so, you definitely need to head to Pixels. My two sons, my husband, and I had a blast during our recent visit. We loved everything from the friendliness of the staff, the ambiance, and the activities that they offer. Right when we walked in, we were greeted by a staff member who gave us some information about their DIY painting experience and their gaming section. I noticed that the interior ambiance/atmosphere is so crisp, clean, airy, and bright, with a calm vibe. There's also a photo op at the front where you can snap a picture of your art piece or just to take a selfie. Also at the front of the room there is a variety of figures and canvas that you could choose from for painting. I like how they're pretty transparent with their pricing, as it is listed with each item. In the middle of the room is the painting area. Towards the back of the room is a gaming section for anyone to play video games. Along with that there's a Foosball Table and a VR system. My one son decided to paint, while the other, along with his dad checked out the gaming area. Once we were ready to paint, one of their staff members offered and served us the colors of our choice and handed us our materials- from brushes, to paper towels, and aprons. Staff were really attentive and encouraging towards my 3 year old, which was nice to see since I am always afraid of him making a huge paint mess all over the place. As for the gaming section, since there were several stations available, my older son didn't have any trouble sitting comfortably to enjoy a few minutes of video game time. He loved how he could choose from so many games. He played for an hour and pricing for that was very reasonable compared to other gaming places that we've been to. We had such a great first experience here that when we found out that they offered a "Parent's Night Out" once a month (where they care for our kids for a set price, while we parents enjoy some time away for ourselves) we immediately jumped toward the opportunity. For their Parent's Night Out event, my husband and I dropped off our two kids at 6:30pm. They offered dinner, snacks, beverages, painting, video game time, and board game time for all the kids. With all that was offered, as well as the timing, I think pricing was great! Plus, I loved receiving photos of my kids during their time at Pixels. I felt like they were cared for and treated so well. I had no doubt or worry that things weren't working out for them. As for what my two kids thought- let's just say that they had such a great time that they didn't want to leave when we picked them up around 10pm, on a Friday. They were all smiles from head to toe, asking when they can go back! Glad that we ventured here as a family and have found this hidden gem.
