Located in Old Town, Pizza Bella has been around for years but it's been some time since I dined here. I was a bit taken aback to walk in and be told by a clearly flustered waiter that it would be about 10 minutes before he could take my table even though there were ample empty tables in the restaurant. Fortunately there was a female server who was able to seat me and wait on me after a couple of minutes. Even if flustered I would not recommend that being the welcome provided to customers entering the restaurant. I let the non-welcoming initial impression pass because I have always loved their bruschetta and had a taste for it. I ordered the above mentioned bruschetta and a personal size pepperoni pizza with extra pizza sauce. As I've mentioned the Bruschetta is probably the favorite bruschetta I've had anywhere. It might not be the most authentic Italian bruschetta but it is just SO good. Everyone I have ever introduced to it has loved it. Today was no exception. The bread was perfectly toasted and the perfect amount of ingredients were used with a wonderful balsamic glaze spread beautifully across the plate. You can look at the picture to see what it looks like. The pepperoni pizza with extra sauce was good. I wouldn't say great. The pizza here has never been what I would call great and today was no different. It's good. There's plenty of cheese and ingredients. There just isn't a ton of flavor in my opinion. It's not something I would crave like I would some other pizza establishments. The other thing I would say is that their prices are a little high for what you get. An appetizer of bruschetta shouldn't cost the same as a pizza, no matter how good it is. And the personal 8" pizza started at $15.95 for only cheese with each additional ingredient bumping it up further. My waitress was pleasant and friendly and did a great job getting the food out while hot and ensuring the meal was good. I didn't catch her name. Pizza Bella has parking available in the rear of the building and they offer both indoor and patio dining. The building has shared restrooms with the other businesses. I took off a star based on the initial non-welcome, the somewhat elevated pricing and the fact that the pizza is good, not great. read more

We came here one night at Old town and we were waiting for a table for about 2 minutes. We were given a table and we ordered drinks and food a few minutes later. It takes a little under 20 minutes to get our food. It's alright. The pasta is good but the pizza is okay. I don't understand how this got best pizza of the year. I know better pizza places. It's also really expensive so this costs like a little over a really fancy restaurants food but overall, I would recommend this to a pizza or pasta lover. We received a "dinner for two" coupon and decided to give Pizza Bella a shot - we are so glad we did and will definitely be coming back for more. The restaurant itself is cozy (we did have to move our table just a little as we were quite literally back to back with the table behind us), but honestly it wasn't a big deal. They have a patio area but we didn't venture out since it was chilly the night we went. The service is great, they check on you enough without being overbearing. I've been here a few times- the service is good however the food is strange. I got a veggie sandwich which was ok but the bread is so thick and just so much. My friend and I got a pizza to go with veggies- the pizza came with CARROTS on it. This is the most strange thing I've heard of. Carrots on a pizza? How odd! What a gem that I stumbled upon after arriving to the San Diego airport. I took the free San Diego Flyer shuttle bus to the Old Town Transit Center a couple of miles away. I had over an hour to kill for the next Coaster train to Oceanside so I walked towards the strip and this Italian restaurant is the first you come upon just a few hundred feet from the transit center. I ordered a yummy lunch and sat out back in the lovely 65 degree weather (it was in the 20s this morning when I left DC). The server was great. I ordered the Penne Primavera pasta which came with garlic bread and side salad. All was very tasty and healthy. To drink I had a yummy iced tea and a wheat beer they had on tap. It wasn't super busy when I arrived, so I was able to pick my table but it started to pick up after I finished my meal. The food was good! I wish I could've tried more items, but since it was just me, I only got a couple of things: - The Works Pizza (personal) 4/5: It was very cheesy with a nice crust that was like a middle ground between thin and thick crust. As the name implies, it has a bunch of toppings (pepperoni, sausage, ham, onion, bell peppers, olives, mushrooms). My only complaint is the price ($18) for the personal size pizza. - Tiramisu 5/5: This was highly recommended by the waiter and it did not disappoint! I loved it and will probably have it again next time. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, but it does get kinda cold outside in the evening. After I finished my food, I did not get the check for over 20 minutes, so I ended up walking to the counter myself. Other than that, my experience was very pleasant. This hole in the wall is so good I was about to post a 5 star review before our pizza even arrived because of the service. The service is top tier, Andrew greeted us, seated us, and served us during our visit. He's basically running the joint and offered us refills before we even asked. My husband ordered the "Eggplant Parmesan" ....it should've been named for the Wilted Spinach Parmesan. It had 3 small pieces of thin over cooked pieces of eggplant topped with a ridiculously huge amount of raw spinach under a blanket of cheese. The Eggplant should've been the star not the spinach. Pizza Bella While visiting San Diego, my wife and I were on the hunt for some great pizza. After browsing Yelp and TikTok, we discovered Pizza Bella, and it absolutely lived up to the hype!
