I really wanted pizza on my birthday from Pizza Cassette but they are closed Mondays so I decided to try this place. My husband told me it used to be Mom and Dom's pizza and we hadn't liked it then but I was determined to eat pizza on my birthday. I ordered the 10" spicy pepperoni which is tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, ricotta and jalapeños. The pizza was warmish by the time it got home and I took a bite and it was meh. The ricotta was like no other ricotta I have ever had. It was a thin, creamy texture that seemed more like sour cream than ricotta. I thought maybe I don't know what ricotta cheese looks like but a quick google search shows it looks like cottage cheese. As you can see in the pics this looks nothing like cottage cheese. The jalapeños, probably because they were cooked lost heat and were not very spicy. The dough was mid. It was not too thick or chewy but was not very memorable. Pizza pre-tax was $14.85 after tax $16.74. Not the worst pizza I have ever had but not the best. So my favorite pizza food truck has a retail location. I follow them on Instagram and have seen that that they started doing my new favorite style of pizza, Detroit style. Well today, I was randomly free and thought what not. I went to place an order in line from their Google page and got a time estimate of 35-40 minutes, which I really wasn't up for. I decided to call and they said 15-20, which worked because that was just driving time. I asked the person I was talking to if the small salad was enough for 2 people. He said not really, but I still went with it. I can tell you that he was correct. If someone is really wanting a salad, it won't be enough. If it's just a couple bites if not pizza, then it's fine. I ordered a Detroit Holy Pepperoni. If your from Detroit, you're probably saying it's only Detroit style if it's made with Wisconsin block cheese, well it is. It probably took me 10 minutes to drive there and the pizza was ready a couple minutes later. While waiting I saw they had pizza by the slice and those caught my eye, so I added 2 slices of the Sweetie Pie to my order. I was really surprised with how spacious the retail location was. Lol of interior seating available if you're not just trying to do take out. They even have games available. A lot of pizza places just try to keep a minimal place store front and I appreciate that they didnt. With great service, helpful staff and great pizza... I am very glad this place has a retail location. For me I look at pizza pictures and I can tell a lot if I'm even remotely interested. So look at the NY style Sweetie Pie and the Detroit style and judge for yourself. I will say, Detroit style looks like Chicago Deep Dish but it's not as heavy as that style. read more

Ordered a neapolitan mushroom pizza online. They do a lot of take out so I got there and still had to wait about 20 minutes for my pizza. Only one guy managing the whole place. But, the text message time estimate was accurate. When I ordered, the estimated time was 40 min. Pizza smelled great when I got it. Looked good too, but the flavor was just OK. Mushrooms were canned which I didn't necessarily mind but there was just a lack of flavor. The onions weren't caramelized enough and were a bit flavorless. The pizza was made hot and fresh with our variation on the, 'Wise Guy New York 18"' - Instead of mushrooms we swapped the shrooms for Jalapenos... My wife hates shrooms but she'll take 18" all day of this pie... what are ya gonna do... I'm now a Wise Guy at heart because these flavors were absolutely insane. Not overly salty, I could still taste the pepperoni and sausage mixed with the creamy ricotta cheese which took the bite off the pickled jalapenos that made you sweat just enough to go back for more. This was an overall surprising experience for me. I'm a massive fan of East Coast pies and San Diego doesn't do a very good job of making anything resembling a NY Slice. They now have their brick and mortar location open for business in Claremont where Mom & Dom's Pizza used to be located. My boyfriend wanted to order pickup from this place because he's curious to know if their pizza is as delicious as the pizza place that use to be here at this location (Mom & Dom's). They were both muted but we still thought it was interesting, and the music turned up after a bit when we were there, which i dont really enjoy. But would go here again, it was handicap accessible.
