It really is one of those classic South Bay events that feels like the unofficial kickoff to summer. The entire downtown area of Hermosa Beach turns into a huge street fair with live music, food, drinks, carnival rides, artists, and hundreds of vendors spread throughout the closed streets. There were families everywhere, groups of friends hanging out in the beer garden, people walking around with dogs, and just a really fun community vibe overall. Pine Mountain Logs were great live and the Garden area had a relaxed energy with music going most of the afternoon. The vendor mix was exactly what you would expect from a big festival like this. Some really cool local makers and artists mixed in with a little random street fair chaos, which honestly is part of the charm. You can grab food from local Hermosa spots or festival booths, stop for a drink, wander the Makers Mercado, listen to music at different stages, or just people-watch for a few hours. It is busy, loud, and crowded in the best possible way. Really impressive that this has been going for more than 50 years. Events like this are part of what makes Hermosa feel like Hermosa. 5 stars

The weather was chilly and overcast but did warm up . My LO enjoyed the carnival rides. There are two ticket booths were you can purchase tickets. No cash accepted. Lots of vendors but I didn't really go look for anything in particular. Food - Yes, food is pricey but it's a festival so that's the norm. The food vendors do take cash, credit card, Venmo or Zelle. Parking - you can park at Northrop and take. Shuttle of there are numerous paid parking really close to the festival off of Pier Avenue. $25 to support Hermosa Schools for our parking lot and I felt it was worth it. There was a free succulent potting craft which was so fun There's lots of music and is definitely a fun way to spend a few hours over Memorial weekend.

He wasn't sure either and since their staff overheard it, they went ahead and explained. (Beef, middle part of the cow between the sirloin and the flank.) Along with a carne asada, chorizo and tripa. Hubbers had his usual al pastor. I wasn't a fan of their asada. I thought it was a bit dry, but everything else was fantastic. Who knew there was another beef choice, and yes, the suadero was something different but delicious. The tripa wasn't very gamey and the chorizo was tasty. I also love that they offered grilled onions and peppers at no additional cost and they helped us pack up a few sides and sauces. FOOD: 4.5. SERVICE: 5. As busy as they were, they were the most interactive and friendly compared to all the recent taco vendors we've hit. VALUE: 5. Worth it! PARKING: Street only since they're a street vendor. OVERALL: 4.75. So, yes, I will admit we came out looking for another vendor, but we're glad we found them instead. Makes me wonder if they do a schedule rotation of sorts, maybe... ? When I've ordered from El Chiapas Tacos in the past, it was an orange colored food truck. This time around, it was a blue colored one with a focus on seafood. I've grown to really like the carnitas tacos at El Chiapas and fortunately this blue colored truck still sold those. I got a plate of three carnitas tacos with beans and rice. I topped them with cilantro and onions, which you get at their self serve station. The tacos were delicious. The service was nice and quick as usual. I was a little disappointed with my experience this time around. They didn't have the pina agua fresca that I usually order with my food. Also, the truck was parked right in front of the car wash (it used to be parked in front of the gas station). The car wash was so noisy that it was difficult to order the food. That being said, I'll continue to come back to this place when I get a craving for good carnitas tacos. Where they can park is probably out of their control.
