While the gentlemen in there were really very nice humans, the salad was something I could make at home and the pizza (sausage) BARELY had enough topping. It was a bit disappointing. The homemade turkey sausage. So good. I get it by itself with spinach and other veggies-- marinara is too acidic for me. That sausage is delish. The garlic knots are also to die for. So much cheese, so much butter. So bad but so good. Then there's the traditional NY pizza, and other Italian food, but I always get the same things. Somehow im back to the turkey sausage. Inside reminds me of Brooklyn NY. And before this review. People do need to understand pizza in Manhattan and pizza in Brooklyn are very different. "NY PIZZA" isn't just one part of NY. Let's get into it. Upon walking in I was greeted immediately. Asked what they recommend. They said the cheese or pepperoni. I ordered a whole cheese and pepperoni pizza with extra marinara. Pizza was done in a very timely manner. I sat inside to wait and just chilled. Had not a single issue. My order was 100% correct. Price wasn't too bad either. So why the 3 and not a 4 or 5? Dough tasted a bit off. The crust just wasn't tasting 100% too me. Compared to places I've been to IN NY. The cheese and marinara on the other hand? Perfect. Tastes exactly like NY. I will definitely return here and give it another go with other menu items. And maybe upgrade my star rating. I like that it's privately owned and operated. My fiancée and I dropped in, feeling romantic about our love for NYC. Brooklyn Brick Oven Pizza was just what we were looking for! Bobby, the owner, pleasantly greeted us as dine-in guests. His New York accent and authentic East Coast demeanor (the cool kind) made us feel immediately welcome. We ordered a 16 inch New York style pie with pepperoni, mushrooms, and black olives. It was DELISH! The crust was perfectly thin which allowed for the sauce, cheese, & toppings to shine. To our happy surprise, we finished the whole pizza because it wasn't all "dough and crust". Dave Portnoy would be impressed! We've had the Lazarro's in Manhattan NYC that he gave 9.3 (?) ... I'd bet this restaurant would achieve a similar grade, if not HIGHER! Service was kind & attentive, not fawning. Jordan and Bobby Jr made a great house salad that complemented the pizza well, and the cannoli Bobby offered made for a fine finishing touch. A coupla local beers added a nice glow to our appreciation of the decor, which consists of multiple pictures of NYC from several angles. We especially loved the photos of The Brooklyn Bridge, where I proposed. We're not locals to Manhattan Beach, but now we wish we were! The place looked interesting but the food was a letdown. I had eggplant pasta which turned about to be what tasted like canned spaghetti. The sauce seemed watered down and very little eggplant. My salad was also very average. I tried a cheese slice but didn't like it and there was very little sauce on it. I would rate 2 stars as the prices are higher but the guy working there was friendly and professional so I bump to 3 stars. Not a repeat visit for me. read more

This is the closest I was able to find a Brooklyn style pizza in LA but not exactly. It has the thin crispiness to the bottom and top of the pizza, and it tasted great. They didn't seem to have the same amount of cheese that I'm use to but that's okay. Inside is like a dive bar. It has rock music playing. It's a bit dark as the only windows are at the front. Parking is okay. It's located in a plaza with other businesses so it may be hard to find parking at certain times. read more

This is one of my favorite New York style pizza places so I wanted to bring my friend who was born and raised in Brooklyn to see what he thought. I ordered the garlic knots cause I know they're delicious and I wanted him to try it. The knots may be bite sized but they're delicious and you can use the rest of the butter and garlic to dip your pizza crust into. We shared the extra large NY slice pizza with half mushrooms and half pepperoni. He loved it! He loved how the crust has a nice crispy bottom. I love that about their pizza too. I think people in Los Angeles have forgotten what a truly wonderful home-cooked meal is like-- I certainly did. So often you go to restaurants that try so hard to be different that they forget their roots entirely, and it turns into some forgettable dinner. This place, however, took me back to when I lived in New York. The ambience was perfect, Goodfellas poster and all! The owners were so funny and earnest, it is a family business in every way. This place is clearly very polarizing. Im from the east coast and the reason we even went here was because of Bobs take on negative reviews. People would bitch about this and that and unlike every other other place, Bob basically says "yeah - fuck off". She finished it which means she liked it. 3. My 10 year old loved. the chicken fingers and drained those while still stealing pizza from me. 4. I got the two cheese slice lunch special and enjoyed it enough to order it again. I ordered it a little well done and it was thin, crispy, and i loved it. Bottom line. - Manhattan beach has changed over the course of the long history of this restaurant - demographics are different, MB restaurants, which i love by the way and have been to all the top ones many times are great. This restaurant has stayed the same It's an old school, salt of the earth, remind me of home joint that was on every corner where i grew up. , East coast peeps are possibly an acquired taste here in LA. No pretension, overly direct, etc . But what comes with that is good food, easy to talk with people, all things that are staple to any joint like this in Boston for example are here in spades. This small, family-run restaurant has a gentle giant of a dog mascot. There are tons of draft beer choices listed on the chalkboard. The owner is friendly and went out of his way to make us welcome. I visited this place with my partner the other night to pick up an order. I waited outside while he was informed by an older, serious-looking man that the order would be ready in ten minutes, without making eye contact and with a dismissive attitude. After fifteen minutes had passed, I decided to go inside. The older man was preparing dough and did not even turn around to acknowledge me; he simply stated, "It's not ready yet." I asked him how much longer it would take, and he replied, "I don't know, we're busy." I stared at him, wondering if this was a joke, thinking to myself, "You work here!" When I didn't respond, he added, "A few more minutes." His colleague was polite when he handed me the order and apologized for the wait. We considered buying a slice while we waited, but the older man's attitude discouraged us from even stepping inside the restaurant. It was also strange that when his colleague, who looked similar to him, arrived later, the older man's demeanor changed completely, but he still did not treat us kindly, as we are brown skin... go figure This review is solely based on the old man's attitude, as I did not try their food and never will. It looked good and when I saw it I was excited to dig in. The dough was light and had a little crunch on the crust. Tang exists but I was hoping for a bit more. overall good but a bit underwhelming when I go through the whole experience.
