This place was by far the best restaurant all around. Customer service was unbelievably amazing. The owner sat us and made us feel very comfortable. My daughter was upset at our choice of pizza and he took the time to question her what her liking was and told her he was going to make her one just for her on the house. Who does this nowadays? I came with my family on a Saturday afternoon and it was amazing! The owner was super nice and friendly. He was the only one working at the time but was always attentive. The place itself was super cute and clean. They even have a patio area! Last but not least the food was spectacular!! Buffalo and mango habanero wings were great. I love that this place is walking distance from my crib. The pizza is super thin crust and plenty of original options including a pizza of the month. The wings were a big surprise... well done on the outside but still juicy on the inside. I'm thinking they were oven baked not fried, and big! Ok... ordered as a delivery and was kinda surprised by what is named the San Diego pizza... double pepperoni, 14 wings, and cheese sticks. Ordered on the Slice app, so really thought it was like a family deal and was just glitchy on the app description... Nope, the app was right and I was an idiot. Lol. Superb pizza in the Neapolitan style, but without the annoying floppy sogginess in the middle. Very tasty crust with a decently puffy corniccione, if a bit overdone. My only other complaint is that the sausage on my pugliese pizza had an extremely sparse amount of sausage on it, which could barely be seen or tasted. Just ask for it to be not burnt and with a decent amount of your chosen toppings. read more

Fantastic pizza/beer place a mile away from balboa park! This place was a fun find after a day at balboa park located really close by bankers hill. Parking can be challenging in that area but the food was worth it. Really delicious thin crust pizza clearly handmade and wonderful flavorful sauce. Pasta was excellent too and not too mushy with a nice light marinara. Service was fantastic and friendly and the ambiance was casual with lots of tv's for local games and sports. Second time I have visited Pizza e Birra. The first time was during pandemic with restrictions so I got take out. The second time was yesterday for dine in patio area. The first time I tried the pizza, wings and shrimp appetizer. This time I had the garlic parm wings well done, pizza fries, and a sausage and grilled onion pizza. We also got a beer. Good price for the portions. Huge portions...we got 1 large pizza and 1 Notorious PIG and it filled 2 people up and was enough left overs for 2 more meals (of one person each) for $50. I really loved the dough that was used for the Notorious PIG bread as well as the dough used for the thin, crispy, chewy, soft pizza. We were fortunate to be able to sample the fried goat cheese and that was amazing as well. The service was really great as well. While I thoroughly enjoyed the food. I think the items I ordered, while really good, may have had too much going on (too many ingredients that all ran into each other). This made it difficult to really appreciate each individual ingredient. We ordered the Genovese Pizza with the added topping of chicken. Rating this place based on their customer service. Table was not cleaned and when I asked the server if it could be cleaned his response was, "Nah-nah-nah, (as he waved me off with his hand) not right now I'm the only server here." I understand being the only server but that response and attitude was unprofessional and embarrassing for their restaurant. We have been in search of a new wings spot as we don't like driving as far to go to Dirty Birds. This place is definitely a winner! Not only does it have great, crunchy wings but the pizzas and beer selection are worth going as well. We've been a couple times now and order the buffalo chicken wings (comes in other flavors), one small pizza (our favorite is just the pepperoni), and a couple beers. This place is one of our solid go-to places that everyone can agree on. The Genovese pizza is our favorite pizza there. I really like the ordering a side of their marinara to dip the crust in. You never would guess but they have amazing wings. The lemon pepper and the garlic Parmesan are delicious. I like that they are naked and not see fried. The food was all on point. I've tried over 20 different pizza places in San Diego and this pizza was really good. You can tell the difference in the quality. I thought I had pretty much all the good pizza in San Diego but when I tried this it was just different. They have plenty of seating on the inside and some seating on the outside. While I certainly partook of the birra, I decided to save the pizza for another time. Instead, I went with the Speciale sandwich. It's pan grilled eggplant with mushrooms, peppers, cheese, tomato and lettuce. All The fixings were cooked to perfection but perhaps my favorite part was the bread. It was a super soft, warm and buttery and had grated Parmesan on top; sort of like having a sandwich on Crazy Bread. Tasty stuff. We had a spinach salad with balsamic vinegar; parmesan wings (these were just wonderful as usual); meat balls (these are really great too; love the marinara sauce that is plentiful and baked; and meat lover's pizza (tasty too). I prefer more tomato sauce on my pizza and a crust that is more well done--that is my suggestion. We had the most adorable pizza box to pack our leftovers-it was a leprechaun box where you could put your head at the top and then use the "body" as your own.
