    Greek Gyro Pizza "Small"
    Nena U.

I was in the mood for pizza today - ordered take out - Small Greek Gyro Pizza $12.99 6 cut perfect to share (but today I couldn't). I love a good gyro and was so curious about this pizza. It was cooked just right - not overdone and.. with each bite.. I got different taste every time. Ingredients include: gyro meat, tomatoes, feta, provolone, black olives, onions and white sauce. I usually would ask for light on the onions on any pizza because sometimes they can overpower the taste but the amount of ingredients was just right. I did taste a hint of garlic too on the crust which was a nice surprise. I am always in search of establishments that have different or unusual items on their menu... from Mediterranean appetizers to Turkish Pizza.. Ephesus has that. This location is rather small only two tables in the dining area. I am looking forward to going back and trying something else.

Ephesus currently is the best pizza that will deliver to the 15202 zip code!! The pizza is really good (though no pizza will ever be able to compete with my beloved Fazio's in Bloomfield). Sauce is good, not overly sweet like more and more Pizzaria's seem to be adapting. Crust isn't thin, and I would say more on the thick side, but not super thick. Besides the pizza, they make a mean gyro. Love a good gyro that uses fresh ingredients and not frozen lamb meat. Also... One of my husband's favorites to order from Ephesus is there kebab platter. Keep in mind that they are a Mediterranean restaurant and do make some very good authentic Mediterranean dishes. Give Ephesus a try!!

The pizza is very good. High quality cheese, plenty of options for toppings (if you're into that), and they deliver fairly quickly. They also have online ordering, which shouldn't be a big deal in 2016 yet is in Pittsburgh (go figure). Will definitely keep ordering.

The sauce was another surprise. I've never said this in my life because I normally love sauce, but there was far too much of it, and it was pretty much flavorless. Instead of elevating the dumplings, it overwhelmed them without adding anything to the taste. Overall, the presentation is lovely and the menu has potential, but the dumplings need more filling and a more flavorful, restrained sauce to match their visual appeal.

The restaurant's menu lists pancakes, waffles, French toast, crepes, omelettes, salads, paninis, quesadillas, and many Mediterranean foods (e.g., hummus, falafel, kebabs, baklava, etcetera). My husband and I have eaten breakfast and dinner here. Employees told us that we could sit at a table of our choosing. After reasonable waits, two employees brought our beverages, foods, and bills. Here are our ratings for the foods: Pancake tacos - 4 stars - Pancakes were folded around eggs, cheese, and bacon. My husband said that the tacos were slightly falling apart, so he ended up eating the pancakes separately from the other ingredients. He would have preferred that the bacon be cooked longer to get crispy. Nevertheless, the ingredients were very fresh and tasty. Waffle Heaven - 5 stars - This waffle was a large size, and it was topped with Nutella, strawberries, bananas, caramel sauce, and walnuts. On the side was cream. I really enjoyed the flavors. Mushroom sauté - 4.5 stars - This entree had such a wonderful aroma! It contained lots of mushrooms, green peppers, onions, melted cheese, and some eggs (and no tomatoes at my request). It was similar to scrambled eggs with vegetables mixed in, but it contained fewer eggs. Sausages - 4 stars - My husband ate a few small sausages. I took one bite, and I thought that they tasted alright. My husband gobbled them up. Hummus and pita bread - 4.5 stars - The pita bread was fresh and warm and tasted very good. We would have preferred a slightly stronger flavor to the hummus. Vegetarian sauté - 5 stars - This entree contained eggplant, green peppers, onion, garlic, tomato, and potato, and I greatly enjoyed the flavors. The serving size was so large that I had leftovers for the next day. Chicken kebab - 4 stars - Chicken thighs were marinated and grilled with herbs. The meat was very juicy and cooked well, but my husband wanted a stronger marinade and different sauce. Baklava - 4.5 stars - I received a generous serving size of four pieces. I liked the phyllo dough and nuts. Beverages - 5 stars - We drank bottled water, orange juice, and mango juice.

Sides were mixed vegetables and a mix of rice and bulgur. Chicken Shish Kebab - 4 stars - The chunks of chicken were large and juicy and had a mild seasoning. On the side was rice pilav. Turkish Tea - 4.5 stars - This black tea was a good size and was served hot. Packets of sweeteners were available. The total price was $55 plus tax and tip.

We were quickly greeted and seated. It seemed as though the owner and family were working. The menu was interesting, not real large but sufficient. We had, who I believe is the owner, come to our table and ask what we typically like to eat and then she was making suggestions. We thought she was just being helpful. My wife finally looked at her and said, I'm sorry are you also taking flour order now? She replied well that's what I was trying to do. To me that was a little off putting. We all took her suggestions and ordered. The food came out fresh and warm. It was good. We all tried each others meals. We felt that what my wife ordered was the best. The vegetarian sampler platter is often my go-to, as an appetizer for sharing with someone or as an entrée for myself. I very much enjoy the pomegranate green iced tea here and our server was happy to keep providing refills while my friend and I caught up over 2+ hours after not seeing each other for over a year, and never complained about needing to turn over the table. Granted, we were early in the day, starting at 11:30 and continuing through lunch hour, and there were always a couple of tables open, but it did get relatively busy during the lunch hour. This is located in a strip mall and has maybe a little less ambience than my usual location closest to home in Mount Lebanon; the thing I appreciate about that location is that it has outdoor tables set up during beautiful weather like today. Here, they don't seem to have that option on the strip mall outdoors so you are going to be eating inside or taking out. In any case, the food remains consistent and fabulous and the service is always great at every location I've tried. We didn't get dessert today as we were both very full and I was headed next to celebrate Easter with my family, but you can't miss with the absolutely decadent desserts here if you choose to get one.

I was then picking between the pastitsio and the moussaka. I was told they both have a strong nutmeg flavor which was not a problem for me. I decided on the moussaka and it was so delicious.
