The food was really good, but the service was terrible. It took a long time to get our pizza, then one of our pizzas was not put it, and when we decided to cancel it because we were ready to leave, they acted like it was our fault and became very rude to us for canceling the pizza. My daughter and her friends went this past weekend and the server was extremely rude to them- in fact, accused them of lying. The kids has spent all morning volunteering with a group who were painting many of the buildings on Commercial Street. For their time, they were given vouchers for a free meal. One friend had to leave due to a time constraint, but left her voucher there for the group to use- in fact, she stated "use it to get pizza to feed someone less fortunate". The server never explained the vouchers and there were no rules given when they were handed out. When the girls ordered the waitress snatched up the extra voucher and told them she wasn't falling for that. Falling for what? Redeeming a voucher they rightfully earned? The server never came back to the table and refused to even acknowledge the group after that. Very disappointing to hear a group of hard-working kids were treated that way after they spent their free time helping to improve the look of Commercial Street. They didn't steal the voucher, they earned it. Seems like the server needs to lighten up a little. Try explaining things instead of treating them that way. We've always enjoyed going there, but won't be going again, as this is just the last straw. The last few times I have been the service has been lacking to say the least. I remember this place from it's earliest days on Glenstone, but somehow had never been through the doors. However, a friend wanted me to meet him there, so after more than 50 years I finally went to Springfield's oldest pizza joint. The buildings are old (very) high ceilinged relics from the days when the Frisco railroad was the core around which Commercial St. was built. Kitchy, historic, casual, colorful. Most of the seating is in booths, but there are a few tables and chairs. Floors, ceilings, and walls are all hard surfaces so with even a few customers the background noise becomes very high. The evening I was there had was moderately busy. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. The service seemed competent and there was sufficient staff. Sadly, this was easily the worst pizza I have had in at least 25 years - and that is all they serve. Many of the reviews emphasize how their pizza is the same as it was years ago. I think that is probably true: greasy, tasteless toppings on thin crusts burnt around the edges without being crispy in the center - just the way I remember pizza at any number of chains 40 years ago. If you pine for pizza the way it was back in the day, Pizza House will bring back the memories for you. Personally, I'd just as soon forget. read more

Tonight we were passing through town with friends and I recommended Pizza House. We arrived around 5:30 before the dinner rush, and seated ourselves as the sign at the door stated. We finally were waited on after 15 mins we ordered salads and 2 large specialty pizzas. Salads were a none issue. The first pizza was delivered to our table by a different waitress and we waited to start eating for approximately 5 mins before we were told that the other pizzas wasn't even ordered and they would get it started. We had small children so they ate. We waited on the other pizza over 20 mins. I had to ask the manager where the pizza was before anything was done. We were never offered an apology or discount. The waitress was even standing by the cashier when we paid. For the money don't waste your time, pizza is good but not worth the hassle. read more

Just passing through town and looking for a pizza place not far from the interstate. Found this gem of an old fashioned pizza parlor in part of old Springfield. Menu was small, but adequate for what we wanted. Had a nice salad and small deluxe w/ham pizza. Was excellent. Staff was very friendly. We highly recommend this place! read more

We were loyal customers, were. We've has our son's birthday party here after the St Pat's parade for the last five years, this year we're to much hassle. We were given a day's notice to find somewhere else to hold his 13th birthday party. We used to stop in before an event on a Friday night, if we had a rare lunchtime together we'd head over for some pizza, no longer. If you don't want my business, then don't worry I'll never spend another dime there. In fact I'll encourage all my friends and family and even casual acquaintances not to go either. read more

Stopped here on a business trip after reading other reviews. It's definitely a mom & pop shop. It was founded in 1958 and not much for atmosphere. The menu is very limited. No appetizers with the exception of a basic salad. If you like really thin crust pizza, though, the pizza was good. I had the deluxe and the sausage was especially flavorful. First of all the thin crust pizza is good and the beers are bottled and cold. The waitress took our order and the next time we talked was as the pizza had just been delivered she asked if it "looked" good. We never saw her again until we were done eating she brought the bill. Between the pizza being served and the bill being served we wanted another beer. I was only in town for three days. After landing, we made a bee line to Commercial St to the new location of Pizza House Pizza before they close. There are only a few places left of the real Springfield...Pizza House is one of them. I have to say, the new digs are great...but the pizza is the superstar here. Best pizza ever. First visit was in October, 2011, because my sister wanted to go there for her birthday. Was a bit bummed about having to drive from Nixa to north Springfield just for pizza....but once we got our food, it was very much worth the drive. It's now a family tradition to go to Pizza House every other Saturday. We get the meat lover pizza (not exactly sure what they call it) and add breakfast bacon. It's so good....we all think it's pretty much the best pizza in Springfield. Wish they would open a south side location! By the way, my son, who is 5, will no longer eat those big chain pizzas...he insists on Pizza House when we are having pizza! read more

It has been a staple and the best pizza around springfield for as long as I can remember toddling in when I was 3. To another note. I am a manager at a very large company downtown and my guys got a pizza party today. We had Pizza house and all I heard was, best pizzza ever, melts in your mouth, whens the next one? Mortified that the girls that picked it up forgot to tip the wonderful gal that helped us. I will remedy that next time, which I am very sure will be soon. I have been eating at Pizza House since 1961, now I have 3 generations eating there and we are still waiting for our first bad pizza. I am so proud Stacy retained the integrity of the pizza when she took over. Hmmmm, The Pizza here is ok at best . I have been here about 5-6 times over a 4 -5 year span and it's nothing to write home about. Thin but not so crispy, it is actually pretty soggy. The lack of sauce is the real downer here. It kind of tastes like dough , cheese and toppings and that's about it. It does have a pretty good flavor going on but not enough to make me want to come back and the prices are not cheap. You can definitely eat a large on your own. If you want a really tasty thin crust pizza go to Jet's , plenty of tasty sauce, a perfect crust and better prices make it a much better option. And no I do not work for Jet's. But make sure you order the thin crust if you go. read more

VERY good flavor, however real thin. The actual size of the pizza is always less than the size you pay for, and not all the staff is friendly.
