This was our 2nd time attempting to try this pizza restaurant. The 1st time our order wasn't received for some reason. Between the restuarant and Uber eats who knows what happened. We tried again. Honestly from the photos their pizza looked delicious and on New Year's Eve we wanted to try something new. One thing I noticed with both orders to this restaurant is that the delivery time always gets extended. Ex. It may say it is going to arrive between 350/400 and then it updates to get longer and longer. Our pizza was supposed to arrive around 4pm but then ended up coming closer to 430. We ended up calling the store to confirm our order had been recieved. It did eventually arrive. The pizza was cold but I can't blame the restaurant for that on a delivery order especially. We ordered a pan pizza and a deep dish. Overall I would say the pizza was "okay". The deep dish was a bit salty. Both pizzas had pretty dry crust. The tops of the crust appeared to be a bit over done. The deep dish seemed to be lacking in sauce as well. Im usually a big fan of pan pizza but this one definitely did not hit the spot. Again not the worst pizza at all, just not the best either. And for the price we paid(roughly $20/25 a pizza it missed the mark. read more

The pizzas were either cut in pies or in squares. My favorite was an olive, spinach tasting one. The flavors were on par. Just catered for my husband's 50th and the food was so so delicious. Everyone was talking about it! The delivery man could not have be nicer and the entire experience was too notch. Our family favorite here is the thin crust margherita pizza. It has the perfect balance of garlic, basil, cheese, and tomatoes. We get the 18-inch Belly Buster, and it feed the 4 of us who like this type of pizza....which means we often order a second pizza so that there are leftovers for a late-night snack. They staple on a menu with a ton of coupons, and if you happen to be local chances are you have gotten a coupon or two through a mailer. I have been going to Pizza Italia Libertyville since 2005 when I worked in the area. Recent years we travel from the Schaumburg area every few months or so and pick up a butter crust pan. For years they have been great, crust buttery, not bread-like but pizza dough fluffy but with a crunchy outside. The cheese was always plenty and tasting great. This past Saturday we went in and picked up a 10" butter-crust pan, took it home to Schaumburg, and upon tasting were sadly disappointed at the flavor and texture of the pizza. The crust seems more plain, bread like, and not buttery tasting even though the cardboard was greasy looking to an extent. Very bland crust flavor compared to the many we have gotten over the years. As for the cheese...had a bitter after-taste to it, and an almost ricotta like consistency but thicker. I'm not sure what type of cheese they are now using, but it's bitter and not creamy like their mozzarella used to be. We were very disappointed not so much at driving all that way to get a bad pizza, but the thought that our favorite pizza in all of Chicagoland may be gone forever now if they have changed the way they now make the butter crust pan. I always wished this store could expand into the lower northwest suburbs because of how good their pizza, especially the buttercrust pan was, but now best not to.Very sad to see such a great pizza change to something soo bad. Either this location changed owners and ways to make pizza, or the current owners changed what was perfection into something bad you can get from any corner pizza store. I hope someone there reads this, takes it to heart, and decides to fix this. We have ordered from the Libertyville Pizza Italia for years. The Chicago style pizza is tasty but comes with a side of attitude and lack of quality control. We frequently have experienced issues: order was wrong, delivery was REALLY late, toppings slid all over during delivery, toppings not split half-and-half like ordered, etc. Upon calling to discuss issues, the phone staff is frankly rude. They actually block you from speaking to a manager and won't help you at all. They don't remedy your issue. In short, their customer service sucks. The pies are tasty. But I'm done putting up with their lack of quality and customer service. I am happier to pay another pizzeria for a worse product, if it's delivered on time, as ordered and remedied if something goes wrong. It's surprising to me that most of their customers haven't abandoned them at this point. And based on other reviews this is not an isolated incident. It's good when right, but a roll of the dice. While the food was good, there were several times where items were missing from our order. Our most recent order (literally 5 minutes ago) was missing an item that we specifically asked for. The we called and spoke to someone on the phone who was EXTREMELY rude and condescending and then hung up on us. We called back to speak to the manager and learned that the person who we were initially talking to was the OWNER! He actually said the words "if you don't like it, don't order from here again." Ugh!! Pizza Italia is the best pizza around; however, I was disappointed to see staff not wearing masks. Thankfully the person who was helping us was wearing a mask, but an angsty kid was not. He was first complaining about another customer to his coworkers, and then proceeded to interact with staff and customers without a mask. The irony of it all: there is a sign on the outside that says masks are required for all to keep their staff safe!
