The food here is always awesome. Great pizzas and breadsticks. Their ground pepperoni is by far the best pepperoni I have ever had. They have a good variety of toppings to choose from and everything comes out hot and delicious. The train carrying drinks and other items is also a neat thing, especially for children. The only issue here is the cleanliness. The staff is not very quick to address the messes left by families with small children. While I believe folks should be cleaning up after themselves, if guests leave a mess, that should be cleaned up as soon as possible. Also, the furniture and decor are both very dated and beat up from years of abuse, to the point where it is probably impossible to clean things up. read more

Where do I begin? Upon arrival we were seated in the back left of the store. The back left of the store is nice. We had lots of time to check it out as we didn't see our server for 20+ minutes. After 20, I told the host we hadn't seen a server yet, as he started to reply, our server said she was dealing with her other tables. She had one other table. The reason this review even got one star was because of the cool train that brought us some refreshing Mr Pibb. We placed our order and it arrived in a timely manner. However, in hindsight, maybe the food should have stayed in the oven longer as we got a sloppy greaseball that was borderline edible. I had been hearing things about this place for as long as I can remember. Somehow, I never made it in before recently, something that seems odd now that I'm saying it. We visited here on a Friday night, so the crowd was not surprising. We got here around 17:30 and were seated quickly. Any later, and there would have been a wait, judging by the crowd gathering in the lobby when we ordered our drinks. Be prepared for kids. This is a popular place for people with kids for two (obvious) reasons: The arcade games, and the train that brings your drink. Each booth has its own tv, and is private from the other tables. This is a nice, but not enough to block out some of the noise from other patrons. No stars lost. Noisy kids aren't the fault of the restaurant. The establishment is slightly worn, but not dirty. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Most of the people working here are teenagers. Not surprising. I ordered a meatball sub and couldn't eat most of it. The portions are decent, and the food had a lot of flavor to it. We also ordered breadsticks, which were very good. They weren't smeared in butter like some other places do. Went here to celebrate our son's birthday, as he loved this place. Unfortunately THE OWNER was hostile and extremely rude due to us asking about a bigger section where we could all eat together (party was supposed to be eleven, but dropped to 8). We were told by hostess that we could do whatever we needed with the tables, that we could move however we needed. Instead of coming over and telling us in a professional manner that we could not set the second table at the end of the booth, he came over with guns blazing, saying we could not block the doorway, which was far from being blocked.. and when asked to make sure he tells his staff that, he said he was "the big cheese around here" so what he says goes.. and that he didn't have to tell his staff because he was telling us now. We have never been treated so badly, and we really liked this place. But we will never be back. Your host escorts you to a private booth, designed in the same light as a passenger car of a train- GENIUS! Not only does this booth offer you privacy from the hectic world outside, but also a personal TV with many pre-loaded video game classics for the kids. Not a gamer? then turn the channel to the local news to stay informed while your insides are about to get reformed from this magical meal that awaits you. You order your drinks as you peruse the menu, a few minutes go by and you swear you can hear the faint "choo chooooo" of a train whispering your way. You look up and lo and behold a TINY TRAIN HAS APPEARED to deliver your refreshments!! Absolutely brilliant. Now lets get down to brass tacks: the food. The bbq chicken pizza here has always been one of my favorites. They have simply mastered it. The balance of sweetness of the bbq sauce to the saltiness of the cheese and the tart red onions will leave you with a cheshire cat-like smile on your face. Personally I am not a fan of the Party Cut Pizzas (square slices) but here I will make a due exception because it really does add a little something to what they're workin with. I have been a loyal customer of Pizza King for many years. I know that this location has struggled to keep staff. Tonight's poor service, however, cannot be explained simply by lack of staff. I called in a carryout order at 620. I arrived at 640. I paid for the pizza and was told to wait. At 655 I went back up to the window having watched one couple wait 10 minutes for someone to come to the hostess stand and seat them. At the window I was told, "yeah it's here on the shelf." I asked why no one had called out my name and the young worker laughed. I said "it's really not funny." To which she responded they were short staffed. There were five people in their small kitchen. I suggested that at least an apology would be nice, and she just laughed again. I know getting workers is difficult but I would hope a small locally owned business could do better than this. read more

Visited 9/24/22 around 8:15pm. Posted on door closing time 10pm. Manager seated us. Waited on quickly. No one mentioned they would be closing early at 9 pm. Food came quickly. Pizza was good but could have been cooked a little longer. At 8:40 the waitress said the manager asked if we could go ahead and check out as they were closing soon. About 5 minutes later the waitress asked for our dishes. We gave her ones we were done with. She said the manager said she had to get them all and handed us a box to put the rest of the pizza in and some extra napkins to use as plates. She actually took the plates that we were eating from. Unbelievable! We packed up the remaining pizza and proceeded to leave. The manager let us out the door so we took a moment to express our displeasure and ask about closing time. His reason, "We are short staffed and most of us have been here 10 hours so I felt like that was enough". Hard for me to accept being a nurse who works 12 hour shifts! read more

Ordered the Deluxe Special for Carry Out and asked for banana peppers instead of green peppers and was charged extra. Really? Was told 15-20 mins, took over 30 mins. Custumers who came in after we ordered, eating in, received their pizza before we did. Pizza is subpar at best and we had to re-cut it. Won't be returning. I hate to see this pizza king get bad reviews! This first time I came to this location a few years back, it was an honest three star. My recent visit was nothing compared to past experiences! The menu has improved...giving more choice besides the good old pizza and sandwiches. They have a a handful of wraps and salads that are filling and delicious. I was also surprised by the beer options. They have some basics, but they also have a few local Beers. I give props to restaurants who support local breweries. The whole restaurant and overall experience was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and helpful with describing menu choices. I can honestly say a family of four ate all they wanted for $20. That's not a compliment. We've had good Pizza Kings before, and good Pizza Kings are great. This isn't a good Pizza King. The pizzas are unnecessarily greasy, tomato sauce is ... off, lunchmeat on submarine sandwich (normally a PK signature) tasted cheap, breadsticks were bizarre. Adorable concept with the trains delivering to each booth. My 2 1/2 yo son loved watching the train pass-- they sent it around with toys on it. It delivered our drinks but not the food. Only gets 3 starts cuz the food is not very good, even if my son gave his sausage pizza a "yummy in my tummy" review. I paid $12.79 for a 10 inch Royal Feast at the Cumberland location the week before. I was closer to the Bluff Road location and decided to order from them for carry out not knowing there are two different types of Pizza Kings, I ordered (2) 10 inch pizzas and was charged $13.25 for a cheese pizza and then they added $7.00 each for what they call the Deluxe Specialty for a total of $20.25 per pizza. Total bill for (2) 10 inch pies was $40.50 without taxes and what I consider a complete rip off compared to the Muncie affiliated that advertises their prices openly online. I am not sure what happened... They had the perfect pizza recipe, the perfect setup...who doesn't love receiving their drinks via a choo choo train?!? Past tense speaking. Our waitress was extremely rude and carried no personal skills what so ever. I was there with three of my nieces + nephews and the wait time for service, extra napkins, refills was completely offensive for being one of two sets of customers in the place. We nibbled on a salad, medium pepperoni pizza, and had every intention of trying the fresh baked cookies which were advertised in our booth. The pizza was mediocre, the salad had one third of brown lettuce pieces, and they only had one type of cookie of the five described by our waitress. My sister and I have been coming here for many years and for the past 3 times we've came in it's been around 830-9pm and they close at 10. The manager that works at nights makes a comment loud enough we can hear out in the lobby every time we arrive. The customer service is terrible for a business that is trying to rebuild. Pizza King is my FAVORITE pizza. I grew up in northern Indiana with Pizza King and we even had a Pizza King in our little home town. Everywhere I have lived in Indiana, I seek out the nearest Pizza King. Most get how a Pizza King pizza is made and what is required. This location does NOT know how to make a Pizza King pizza correctly. Pizza King pizzas should have meat MOUNDED on the pizza...not small amounts of meat where you wonder if you got meat at all. This location also does not put enough pizza sauce on their pizza. We asked for extra sauce on our last visit and there was no extra...some pieces did not even have sauce. Dry...dry...dry. We go because our youngest LOVES the train but we told him, this is the last time. We can hit the Pizza King in Mooresville, IN because it's closer and they make the Pizza King pizza right. read more

I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. My family came to support my sons school as it was a PTA night where a percentage of the check would go. We waited 30 minutes for the waitress to make her way back after greeting us and getting our drink order then waited another 35 minutes for a 16" pizza, nothing else just simply a pizza before finally deciding to get up and leave. During the hour duration of waiting I watched a family who got sat literally 2 minutes before us give their order, eat, get their check, box up their food and leave while we were still sitting waiting on one pizza. I walked up to the register to pay for our drinks (something that should have been free of charge given the situation) our waitress accepted my payment with no apologies or anything, simply said "well your pizza is coming out right now." I explained to her as calmly as I could the situation. No manager approached me, nothing was offered to fix the problem, not even an apology for the inconvenience! After reading previous reviews of the less than mediocre food, slow service and personally having a horrible experience myself, i will not be a returning customer EVER! read more
