This is definitely a kid friendly place. They have trains that run the center area between the tables and the trains bring your drinks. They also have small TV's at each table that you can use. There are individual TV screens in each booth. Service was pretty fast, starting with a greeter to seat me in booth number twelve. Shortly thereafter a server stopped in to take my drink and pizza order. I did peruse the menu and would have ordered a sandwich but I was in the mood for a pizza all week. I ordered the traditional thin crust with ground beef, green pepper and onions. The pizza was good with numerous ingredients but not as many toppings as my Mooresville Pizza King. Nevertheless the pizza was good and flavorful. I do love the thin crust. The thinner the better in my opinion. The restroom was clean and stocked. This is a national treasure. A pizza king that still has the drink train. A trip back in time to a different era. The inside of this restaurant is absolutely beautiful. There's a lot of train decore, beautiful hardwood, and tacky patterns. It's got a very 80's/90's look to it. Most of the seats in the restaurant are booths and drinks are served on a model train that does rounds. There are TVs in each booth, too. This is a great place to take kids. The servers were extremely friendly, too. The food is just standard pizza king pizza. But I like it. The sauce is really good, the bread sticks were warm and fluffy, and the pizza tastes great. In an era of cold stainless steel aesthetics and bland beige colors, this restaurant's interior stands out. It's definitely tacky, but in an inviting and comfortable way. And in a time of self service kiosks the friendly staff at this location is an amazing change of pace. You need to come here. Restaurants like these are are getting rarer and rarer. I have been coming to this pizza King for many many years. It was really great when the kids were small. The atmosphere is great. It is based like a train station. Each booth has a window in it that has a background scene and the drinks are delivered by a train. The kids love watching the train go by all through the meal and are especially excited when stuff comes for them. The server was great. She was very friendly, Young, and very helpful. She kept coming by to make sure we had everything we needed and took care of us very quickly. We ordered garlic bread with cheese on it and a pizza with pepperoni, sausage and mushroom. The pizza had a very crispy crust tons of toppings and cheese and was really great. It's one reason it is one of my favorites. The garlic bread came two slices with tons of cheese on top, pizza cheese. Garlic and buttery crispy crust and very soft bread. It was a very good starter for the meal. This was our first time at a Pizza King & we had a fantastic experience at the Bluff Road store. The location was clean, food was great & the staff were exceptional. They went above & beyond for my train-loving 4 year old & he didn't want to leave. It was great to hear from the owners (who took over in 2019 just before COVID) about their love & dedication to the franchise. They change out their trains to align with holidays/special occasions & put on a lot of collaborative events in their community. We will definitely be back! read more

Love the pizza here. Only 5 minutes away from my house. Ask for it extra crispy and they usually do a great job. Disappointed today as I went to use the app. If you get a 16" pizza you get free classic breadsticks. App is broken. Ended up having to order my pizza at the counter. I told them app was broken, they confirmed it isn't working. I asked if I went ahead and ordered the 16" pizza, can I get the breadsicks for free. Since the app isn't working. A big nope! This was my first visit to this location and any Pizza King in at least 10 years. I think I went once in college with my friends parents who were diehard Pizza King diners. We were greeted and sat right away. There were a few families dining but it wasn't overly crowded on aSunday around 12. The server was pretty friendly. We started with an order of cheese filled breadsticks with nacho cheese dip. They were ok. I'll probably eat anything with nacho cheese dip so I'm not too picky there. We also each ordered a personal size pizza since we couldn't decide on toppings as a family. I had the veggie. It was a little salty but not bad otherwise. The price for the amount of pizza you get is a little on the expensive side. But let's be honest. If you're dining here it's because you want your drinks delivered to your train via model train. It was such a fun experience. I know it's for kids but I'm 35 and I enjoyed it. I want all my drinks delivered via train in the future. The whole restaurant is train-themed with the lobby resembling a train station. I also loved just how big the booths were. TLDR: Classic Pizza King with a train and friendly staff. Breadsticks are forgettable, salads are terrible, but the pizzas are solid! Pizza is also great when delivered. Dining areas could use extra cleaning and a shame they use Styrofoam for to go drinks, as it's not eco-friendly. Four stars for food and service. --- Craved Pizza King on my visit to Indy and my mom and I went to this location. I have also had delivery the week prior. 1. Location is well maintained. Interior booths could use extra cleaning, specifically the train windows had kids smushed fingers prints all over it. 2. Service was very friendly. Our server was a teen girl who was extremely friendly and sweet. 3. The trains are still pretty cute. I could have lived without a big patriotic train though with eagles and flags all over it. But, Indiana loves its patriotic stuff. 4. We tried pretzel breadsticks at my mom's choice. They were bearable, but, I've never been a fan of Pizza King breadsticks. They were pretzel in look, but had no salt on them. I ate one and called it the quits. 5. We asked for potato skins but they were out, they have not been able to find a new supplier for potato skins so they are not offering them at this time. 6. I had a salad when I got my pizza delivered and thought it was a screw up - shredded iceberg lettuce like is served on tacos with one tiny chopped tomato and cubed mozzeralla on top. It was terrible, but the Italian dressing was great. Turns out this is how some locations serve their salads. I will not get it again. 7. Was happy to see our sodas and waters served in reusable plastic cups. I have been frustrated by the amount of single use plastic and Styrofoam in Indianapolis. The to go cups are Styrofoam. I really wish they'd move away from that and modernize to something more eco-friendly (paper or biodegradable). 8. 10" cheese pizza was delicious and hit the spot in that unique PK way! I'd go back to this location, but, would like to check out others next visit. The one I grew up with is in Greenwood and has moved from its original location. However, the trains are fun and a unique attraction. Four stars for the service, trains and pizza. p.s. I have been to this place a few times before and I had learned from my previous visits to steer clear of the pizza. The restaurant has a decent sized private parking lot and is currently not open on Mondays due to staffing issues. They also have a decent sized dining area that is on both sides of the entrance. They offer dine in and carry out. I come here because my little, little is going through a train phase and this restaurant has a train theme. It is decorated like a train terminal and the booths are like seats in a train. My kid gets a kick out of the train that brings the drinks out. I had to keep getting refills to keep him entertained. I wish the train could have a bigger role in the restaurant. It was boys night out so my son and I rolled up in here for dinner. I got an order of mac and cheese with chips for my son and I got a 1/2 Texas BBQ Boxcar Sandwich with fries. Like I said earlier, I was not impressed by the restaurant's pizza. It took about 10 minutes to get our food, which was cool because our booth that we were in, like every booth in the joint, had its own personal television. And wouldn't you know it, my little's favorite movie was on, Hotel Transylvania 2. My little like his meal and my sandwich was surprisingly delicious, Very flavorful. The fries were decent too. I highly recommend trying the sandwich. My meal was also filing and I left there with a full stomach. My server was very friendly and attentive. She had that train rolling with refills for me and even got me a to-go drink. The restaurant seems a bit older/nostalgic and is decorated like it is a train station. There are candy machines located at the front entrance. This is a fun, family friendly restaurant that is better than its average review. You just have to select the right food. You don't come here for the food. Let's just address that fact right now. The food is secondary or even tertiary. Pizza King food is what it is, and if you've had Pizza King, you know what I'm talking about. You either like Pizza King, or you don't like it, so I'm not going to write about how I'd pretty much rather eat any other kind of pizza, or that they cut their pizza in squares, or that they serve their pizza on cafeteria trays. I'm just not going to write about that. Instead, I'll focus on the fact that this restaurant has a miniature train that delivers your beverages! It's so neat! Each booth has its own little window that looks out onto the mini train tracks, and you can lift the door to receive your drinks when the train stops at your booth. When you need a refill, it will also be delivered via train. Only drinks are delivered by train, though -- no food. This is an amazing restaurant for kids, just for the train alone. It is such a unique experience. But this Pizza King is also cool for kids because each booth has a TV! And it's set to cartoons. As a parent, sometimes you just need the help of electronic devices to give you a couple of moments of peace and quiet, so you can focus on eating your square piece of pizza. So a personal TV in your booth is a win, in my book. Another reason why this Pizza King is great for kids is because they have old-school arcade games in the lobby. I saw Mrs. Pac Man, a claw machine, and a candy claw machine. Plus like two dozen 25-cent machines that have gumballs and little trinkets in them. Pizza Kings have become so hit or miss over the years, so I was both excited and unsure when I decided to check this location out. So glad we did. It definitely feels like an older location. The age shows, once inside. However, it did feel clean and that's what matters most to me. I'm a fan of vintage and nostalgia, so I was personally tickled to discover they have a train that delivers drinks and small items to the tables. My granddaughter really got quite a kick out of that. I ordered what I believe she said was a 10" deluxe Pizza. I asked for the smallest, personal size and she said something along the lines of that being the smallest size available. Not sure if they were out of that size dough or if they don't carry it...I was trying to manage a 1 year old and distracted. It's been so long since I've had Pizza King, but I swear there's a smaller size. No one complained about me bringing home leftover pizza so, win win. If you haven't been here and you have young kids, it really is a "must do" at least once, if for nothing but the novelty. The overall experience is what you're here for, and I think they know their target audience isn't exactly super critical. The booths are little train cars, your drinks come to your table on a little train that stops at your window, the entrance is set up like a train station - it's really cute. We got a few pizzas for our table to share - cheese for the kids and Buffalo chicken and supreme for the adults. The supreme was maybe a little undercooked (or maybe it was just the style to put some of the toppings on after?) but the other two were really great. I especially liked the Buffalo chicken, which I don't normally go for something that spicy. I have been going to this Pizza King location for years now. I love all of their food, and have nothing but good things to say. If you ever visit this Pizza King location? You HAVE to try the Cheese Filled Breadsticks, with Nacho Cheese dipping sauce. They are the most buttery, delightful, mood lifting, delicious, cholesterol filled morsels that are worth every single bite. They are always crispy on the outside, yet fluffy and dreamy on the inside. The butter that is brushed on top is my favorite part, it explodes the flavor x's 10. They're golden-brown and baked to perfection. I know that many people have difference sauce preferences, but the Nacho Cheese is my favorite. It's always piping hot, blends with the breadsticks like you wouldn't believe, and you get a pretty hefty sized cup of it too. Yeah, I suppose it's 4-stars for kids and 2-stars for adults. Thus, this review is 3-star listing. We were seated within ten minutes, that's cool. The bathroom was a mess, that's not cool. There was a model train that brought our drinks, cool. The pizza was average, meh. The breadstick sampler was actually pretty awesome, I'll give you that! The kids also loved having the individual TVs in each booth. That allowed us to find something good to watch. No complaints there. The service was okay. A really friendly teen-ager, but he wasn't quite as attentive as he was chatty. The decor is straight out of 1985. Yuck. It's also fairly grimy feeling. I'm okay with dated if it's also really clean, but this place just looked worn. The price was about what you'd expect. I hate onions, especially raw onions. Yuck! The best breadsticks in order are pepperoni, garlic, cheese, pretzel. Cheese sauce is perfectly spicy. Marinara wasnt that great. Pizza. Piece had way to much pepperoni. They use the chopped up little pieces. Next time we go it will be cheese only for us. We both loved the crust. Our server was good, on time, got us everything we needed when we needed it. Manager did take off the sandwich after I asked for it to be taken off. I asked the server to smell the sandwich smelled onion, asked her to take it to the manager they smelled onion... manager said they were unsure how it got that way unless whoever made it had also touched onions after it came out of the oven. So I was like... you thi I you could ask the manager to take off the sandwich then since it was just a bad sandwich all together. They did. I would have paid for it, however sandwich disnt come with onion, I didnt request onions... so I didnt want onions smell or flavor. Pizza King has been such a southside classic forever and every time I eat there I remember why. From the square cut pieces and the tiny chopped pieces of pepperoni to the in-restaurant train delivery, Pizza King is a must. The last time I had Pizza King, I ordered carry out, went in to grab my pizzas and pay, and the person at the counter asked me if I could wait a few minutes as the cheese had partially slid more to one side when they were moving it around the oven. I waited and, when everything came out, I was surprised to find an extra pizza in my order. I asked why and they said that the one with sliding cheese wasn't up to their standard so they made me a new one, but they still wanted me to have the first one if I wanted it. I looked at it and there was definitely one side with more cheese than the other, but it was completely edible and delicious! I was so surprised and pleased with their customer service. I've been coming here for delicious pizza since I was little and nothing's changed, which I truly love. It's so nostalgic from the arcade games in the front to the booths around the dining areas. I used to bring a respite kiddo of mine here every Thursday. We did this routine for probably 2 years. He even has a pizza king T-shirt and name tag that a previous manager gave him for a birthday. Then he and his family moved to California. When they come visit we still come here because he loves the train and the personal TV we can watch in our booth. Tonight was our first time eating here since May. We were very disappointed, the food didn't taste as good, the service wasn't as friendly, and they took away the dinner specials. My son loves this place. The train bringing the drinks makes his day every time. Pizza King pizza with square slices and thin crust make me remember my own childhood. I remember roughly twenty years ago when they branched out to the Station concept and these things were all over Indiana. This is the last one now. Unfortunately, this place has seen better days. It doesn't look like they mop the floor anymore and on my last visit, they had a sign up saying that they no longer have beer and wine. The food here is always awesome. Great pizzas and breadsticks. Their ground pepperoni is by far the best pepperoni I have ever had. They have a good variety of toppings to choose from and everything comes out hot and delicious. The train carrying drinks and other items is also a neat thing, especially for children. The only issue here is the cleanliness. The staff is not very quick to address the messes left by families with small children. While I believe folks should be cleaning up after themselves, if guests leave a mess, that should be cleaned up as soon as possible. Where do I begin? Upon arrival we were seated in the back left of the store. The back left of the store is nice. We had lots of time to check it out as we didn't see our server for 20+ minutes. After 20, I told the host we hadn't seen a server yet, as he started to reply, our server said she was dealing with her other tables. She had one other table. The reason this review even got one star was because of the cool train that brought us some refreshing Mr Pibb. We placed our order and it arrived in a timely manner. However, in hindsight, maybe the food should have stayed in the oven longer as we got a sloppy greaseball that was borderline edible.
