This is a follow up review since the place is under new ownership. First off I do miss the old owners and staff. I adored them all. I don't know the new ones much yet but so far they are very nice. We stopped in for an early dinner pizza. Thankfully the crust is the same! And it was hot and delicious. A couple of things are different now, they use more sauce and slightly less toppings. Fine by me. I like the sauce it's flavorful and yummy. As for less toppings I'd like to see another handful on there but all in all I'm cool with it. Down to earth people and great food and a great atmosphere for people to come together and feel like they can socially interact

We went to Socrates for grinders. Hubby decided to bless them by paying cash so they didn't get charged a percentage, given they are a small shop. The shop keeper kept $10 of his money. When hubby called him on it, no apology, no "my bad", and handed him ones. Hubby took them and left. When he got to the car, he counted them. $9. What are the chances the shopkeeper miscounted twice? Grinders were only "so so". Sigh. We are never going back. read more

My family lives 2 homes away from Socrates pizza. We order from here frequently and have always enjoyed the food. Tonight we have experienced something truly bizarre and disappointing however. We called multiple times to place an order, and the person keeps putting us on hold without even speaking! We have been on hold combined now for close to 45 minutes. Nobody is picking up and we are STILL on hold. We understand things get busy and being short staffed but however, instead of being rude to regular customers, it's okay to clearly say you're busy and the wait time will be exorbitant. This is very unprofessional and makes us want to spread the word to all of our fellow neighbors on Chopmist! This place is clearly going downhill. read more

Affordable and surprisingly really good pizza, the only place I would pay for food in North Scituate. The dough is so light, airy, crispy and their pepperoni is unreal. It's better than Famous which is just too greasy and has went down hill. Socrates' grinders are pretty good, but I'm sticking to the pizza each time I come. The employees are so nice over the phone and in person. Don't listen to the person who gave them one star. Definitely recommend! read more

Our daughter and her family live out in the boonies. And it is within five or 6 miles of Socrates, pizza, and that is a very good thing. Each time we go to visit we have Socrates pizza for dinner at least one night, and it has consistently been very, very good. And we really appreciate that. They have a gluten-free offering. That's important to a lot of people. read more

Stopped by while in town with some friends, and the pizza was FANTASTIC! I got a bbq Hawaiian with black olives, and there was a lot of toppings and cheese with the perfect amount of sauce. Ordered from here a few times margarita is always amazing. Added a sub to the usual order I would suggest asking for the bread toasted if ordering an eggplant. Sandwich was amazing didn't know it came non-toasted. Would also add cheese and peppers to it, hit the spot other than that. Excited to try some of the other subs! read more

Not sure what there definition of large is but the large pizza in my opinion is not large - more like a medium in most pizzerias. Pizza is on the average side and more like one you get in the frozen section of the local supermarket. During he height of the Covid pandemic the guy behind the pizza counter making pizza was complaining how busy they were - he should have been lucky that we were actually out supporting the local businesses. Never again! Ordered 2 small pizzas & when driving there to pick them up they "didn't have the order" the owner was so condescending & rude.

Great experience all around! From the phone order to the warm smiling faces when I walked in. Everyone is very nice here it was a fantastic first impression and is enough to want to go back again. I ordered a large half pepperoni half mushroom and an antipasto. The antipasto has nice rolls of meat and cheese and some of the other typical antipasto ingredients. The pizza wasn't quite what I personally would call a large, however, I like the small pepperoni slices because you don't have to worry about pulling one off and all the cheese comes with it like those large pepperoni slices. The dough is a little thicker and has a nice structure, so you don't end up with floppy mess. I also would like a dash of extra sauce on my pizza, but I'll ask for that next time because I will definitely be going back. The interior of the restaurant is nicely decorated with lovely wood accents that I hear Socrates himself installed. read more
