We usually love the pizza from Pizza Villa, but not this evening. We ordered our usual super delux with seven toppings for pick-up. We live about 20 minutes away so from the time we order to the time we get there, the pizza is just coming out of the oven and is hot and fresh and stays warm for the ride home. When we got back home and opened the box, we had the wrong pizza with pineapple and bbq sauce. Not something I could eat. I called and was told we would be given a credit, but I wanted the pizza we ordered. I was then told we would receive some kind of credit but after driving the 20 minutes back and returning the pinapple pizza, there was no credit for the mistake. We were given our original order which by that time was only luke warm and cold by the time we got back home. They could have at least given us a coupon for something off of a future pizza order, AND what did they do with the pineapple pizza? They didn't toss it out so did they hand it out to another person? With covid still some concern I hate to think they gave our pizza to another person and just restapled the box to hand it out to us. One bad experience will not stop us from getting another pizza from Pizza Villa, but I had to let others know about the bad experience we had this evening. read more

Maybe I'm biased since I grew up here but to me there is no better pizza in the world then pizza villa. I've had "the best" pizza in NYC and still found it lacking compared to villa. Its not like pizza hut, papa johns, or dominos. Its soft, greasy, thin crust pizza that is amazing. The sauce and cheese combo is perfect. The beer nuggets are great and almost a tourist attraction. Most pizza nights it is a tie between this and Vinny's...but I usually always end up getting pizza villa. Their pizza sauce is amazing, perfect amount of seasoning and saltiness. Their pan pizza is my favorite and I am also a big fan of their breaded mushrooms. The service is great and delivery is speedy too for the time it takes to make the pan pizza. read more

This place has great pizza, the crust tastes sooo good. I know some people complain its a cracker crust but it is a nice change from the thick crusts. I like a good crispy crust. The salads are good to and so is most of the rest of the menu. read more

I have been going to Pizza Villa since my days at NIU, way to far back to admit. But this , for me, is by far the best thin crust pizza I have ever had. So much so, that I used to bring 10 frozen pizzas back to Michigan during my six year stay in Battle Creek. For those who don't know this, the State if Michigan has no idea what a good pizza is. But, I digress. Yes the pizza can be greasy, but, alas, that is where the flavor comes from - for sausage lovers, like me. It is authentic Italian Sausage, with fennel, and plenty on the pizza. Surprisingly, I have not tried the beer nuggets, but will on my next visit. Yes the clown is weird, but he has been doing his flips for as long as I can remember and is a tradition - so you really shouldn't complain about him. I did try the deep dish one time and was not impressed. But I'm really giving the 5 stars on the thin crust. Now that I have written this, I need to go back soon. read more

While the outer crust of my pizza was buttery and delicious, the rest of the pie was soggy and bland. And don't get me started on the pools of grease floating atop the pizza. Sad to say, but I'd compare this place to a Papa John's or Pizza Hut. read more

PV is on my top 10 Chicagoland pizza places at number 6. The best sauce I've tasted overall and the crust is flaky and not to hard. Fun restaurant with space for groups and very family friendly. Bring quarters if you have kids and an empty stomach. Deals during the week make the fairly high prices tolerable. Usually a bit full so calling ahead is wise. read more

Rubbery cheese on our sausage and cheese pizza and the white sauce with garlic, spinach, tomatoes and red onions-well, if you like A LOT of garlic this is for you! Whenever we visit NIU, we always come to Pizza Villa. Nothing can beat it. We always get an order of beer nuggets for the table(have never had better beer nuggets then here) and a large bacon pizza. We brought my "foodie" neighbor here from Chicago a few weeks ago and he said it was the best pizza he has ever eaten in his life. It really is fantastic and a trip to Dekalb is never complete without it. read more

We like the taco pizza - its original. The crust is thin but leans on floppy so best to order it extra crispy. It's a good place to bring a hige group as you can get the downstairs dining room. There's games and fun stuff for the kids to keep happy. read more

We have been coming to Pizza Villa for decades, even before it moved to its current the location, and it has always been a favorite enjoyed by us, our children, and then our grandchildren. Now it is just a disappointment. There is something "off" about the sausage, the sauce was negligible and the service was horrid. We sat up in the balcony watching our pizza sit under the warming light while 5 workers stood around chatting and drinking sodas oblivious to their jobs. Very frustrating and disappointing. There are so many more food choices in the area than there were when Pizza Villa first opened. It has survived because of customer loyalty to a tasty product and good service. With both lacking, why come back. read more

I've had good food from Pizza Villa in the past, but generally prefer the dinner entrees to the pizza. I had a coupon that was for $10 off the price of a pizza. I called the restaurant and asked if i could use the coupon for entrees instead, and the employee I spoke with verified that I could. I called back a few minutes later and placed an order for $20 worth of food items for carry-out, and again mentioned the coupon. I was told to just present it at the time of pick-up, and it would be honored. When the coupon was presented at the carry-out window, it was refused, by a person who said he was the owner. He said the employee had no business authorizing the use of the coupon for anything other than pizza, and that he and the staff would eat the food rather than sell it to us and honor the coupon. I've decided I will never again do business with an individual that would have that much disregard for his customers, and such a lack of respect for his employees. read more

when you go to pick up your pizza and they tell you they gave it to another person with the same first name, the owner's kid tells us he'll remake it and deliver it to our house, but the delivery guy beats you back to your home, SO you know it is the same pizza that the other person with your same first name brought back because you passed him when walking out the door and heard him say he got the wrong pizza!!!! now you have two pissed off customers and when the owner's kid lies to you after ordering from this pizza place for over 40+ years and should know that it is illegal to give out food that has left your business I don't think we will ever order from the Villa again! finally got our fresh pizza at 830pm Thanks C.J. read more

We've been coming to Pizza Villa for almost 30 years and drive over 30 miles to get there. It WAS the best pizza anywhere. Last week we drove out and were extremely disappointed, the worst experience we've ever had there. It may be because Larry, the owner had retired and like most places when this happens, the quality goes down. The sausage was chewy and less flavorful than before, missing its signature cumin taste. The cheese was also chewy and the pizza seemed greasier. The thin crust, which was always a highlight, was soggy. When I commented to the server, she said she was hearing the same thing from many of her customers. PLEASE, LARRY COME BACK! Now we don't know what to do, take a chance and drive another 30 miles to maybe be disappointed again, or stay local. I hope management reads this and takes steps to correct the problem, we will miss not returning. read more

First time at Pizza Villa last night & I enjoyed it. I was hot, hungry & tired, so it's possible that skewed my view a bit, but still tasty. Big points for having gluten free crust. It was actually really good too. Crisp, crackery crust, no off flavor or gumminess at all. Obviously didn't try the regular crust, but everybody else in our party(of 14) loved it. The whole paying twice thing is sort of a bummer, especially when you have a large party & you're ordering beers, but we worked it out. The pizza was hot & gooey, not greasy & not too salty. It did seem a little old & musty inside, peach toliets & sinks in the ladies washroom. The whole 5 floors thing is fun though. Our chairs were dirty & they hadn't cleaned the table when they sent us up but the waitress took care of the table right away. She had a tendency to disappear for long times, but overall, the service was passable. I enjoyed my food, my glass of chianti, and my Richard Jenkins sighting. Yup-he was walking out as we were walking in, I heard fellow DeKalbian Cindy Crawford also makes an appearance now & then as well. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in DeKalb. read more

I grew up on pizza--it's one of the four basic food groups for me--and I have never, ever, thrown away half a pie (that's usually called breakfast). There is a first time for everything, I guess, and this was it. This pizza was totally unpalatable; rubbery, tasteless cheese, covered in pools of grease. Granted, I'm from Chicago, so I've been spoiled by the best, but I'd eat a cheap frozen pizza over this stuff any day of the week. Truly awful. The nuggets ARE good, though, and I might get an order of those again, but I will never order this godawful pizza again. read more

My favorite DeKalb Pizza Restaurant. Although the name is Pizza Villa. It is a well known pizza place in the DeKalb/ N.I.U. area. My favorite is just traditional thin crust pepperoni or sausage. The taste of there pizza is soooo original, I have never been disappointed with the quality and the amount of cheese they put on the pizza is soooo tasty. Others I know love the taco pizza as well. If you eat here you MUST try both the original beer nuggets and the cinnamon beer nuggets (fired pizza dough) the are soooooo yummmmmmy. Pizza Villa is a great place to chill' out at or to bring a large group of people to. (I used to go there all the time as a kid with my softball teams). There is a fun arcade downstairs too for the kiddies. read more

The pizza OK, but nothing to write home about. A big concern is the sheer volume of grease on the pizza. We went through a large chunk of the napkins at the table trying to dredge some of it off. I like thin crust, but not paper thin crust. For the amount you're paying for the pies here, you should be getting more whether it's crust, sauce, cheese, or other toppings. read more

Poor packaging for delivery order. Ticket # 114 on Saturday 9/29/18. We ordered a thin crust pizza and two chef salads to be delivered to a local hotel. The delivery was quick and the driver courteous. Upon opening the bag containing the salads, the blue cheese dressing (served in plastic container with lid) was stuffed in the side of the bag, and the lid had come off. Needless to say, the dressing ran all down the inside of the bag. It got all over the bottom salad container - basically one salad was eaten without dressing! And they charged extra for the blue cheese dressing! And the size of the onions, peppers and tomatoes in the salad?? The tomatoes were half of a slice, the onions and peppers were the size you'd expect on a shish-ka-bob skewer, not a salad. Wouldn't have been so frustrated if we were able to CUT the salad ingredients. However, NO utensils were included with our delivery order. You'd think if a take out salad was ordered, utensils would be included. Luckily the hotel manager was very accommodating and provided us with utensils. Lastly, the pizza - thin crust cheese was extremely bland. No taste whatsoever in the sauce. If you are in DeKalb avoid this place - $40 plus tip was NOT worth it. A different pizza place was recommended, however they were extremely busy (I can see why, probably better), so we called Pizza Villa. Shame on us! We definitely won't be returning there. read more

Terrible experience. The outside of the restaurant looks like a vampire lair. The inside creepy and there is a clown that flips around on the wall. You order food and pay before you seat yourself, but you do not pay for drinks until you are served by a waitress. It is confusing, creepy, and the food is not very good. Same as when I was a teen! Went after a recent graduation for a slice or two. It's a college town folks, ya gotta pay for your pizza before you sit. No big deal. Great pizza, soda is reasonable, beer was cold and they had seating for our table of 8 no problem. Simpsons and teenage mutant ninja turtles video game for quarter? Cowabunga Man!! Seriously got out of the place for under $100.00 bucks for 8 people with plenty of pizza to go...Try the combo nugget appetizer, just remember to leave room for the pizza... read more

I have worked for a number of pizza places during my teens and early 20's. I consider myself a pizza connoisseur (snob is more like it). This. Pizza. Is. AMAZING! Crust is pure bliss! Thin and crispy, almost melts in your mouth. Sauce has just enough spice and sweetness. All fresh ingredients make for excellent flavor....nothing too overwhelming. Loved that the sausage was not too spicy. And, the real test...how good is it cold? Exceptional. This is really great pizza, and yes it is a bit pricey, but totally worth it. read more
