Don Cheech's Steak
Eva C.

The Don Cheech's steak I ordered was very tasty. Definitely satisfied my hankering for a steak sandwich. Nice quality of beef that was seasoned just right, fresh tasting bread, and perfectly melted cooper sharp. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A good set of patrons were dining in and the interior is really very nicely appointed, clean and inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Thanks to my fellow Yelpers I've added a new place to my "will return" roster.

Italiano

Pretty good food and at reasonable prices, a big upgrade from the unfortunate places that used to be in the same location and ended up closing. My family put in an online order the Sunday a few days after thanksgiving and when we arrived after ~25 minutes it was hot and ready to for pickup. We shared an order of the Calabrian chili honey wings which were very big and crispy but still juicy and meaty, although the sauce was much more sweet from the honey than spicy or savory, I was hoping it would have more kick. For entrees we got the Magg pizza which is sort of a mix between a plain tomato pizza and a margarita, with mozzarella fresh basil and olive oil on top of tomato sauce; the crust was nice and crisp, the sauce was good and the slices were thin but still satisfying. We also shared the Italiano sandwich which comes with a nicely breaded chicken cutlet, broccoli rabe, provolone, and roasted hot or sweet peppers (we opted for hot); all the components were nicely prepared including the pretty thick chicken cutlet, but I feel like it could've also used a bit flavor and a bit of salt. Overall though, everything was fresh and prepared well, and this place is a nice spot to have for tasty but approachable and casual Italian American fare.

American Boy pizza +south Philly pizza

Saturday lunch of my dreams! Our crew ordered a lot and shared :)the American boy pizza was flavorful and crisp! I didn't try the south Philly pizza w banana peppers and tomatoes and cooper sharp but my friends loved it(very unique!) . The cheesesteak does not photograph well!!! It was sooooo good and cheesey!!!!!! Drunken rigatoni was delicious and the rigatonis truly tasted homemade. Our waitress was so helpful and we had a little one with us and they were so attentive with our silly baby!

Cafe Carmela has quickly become my favorite place to come have a cheesesteak. That seeded roll, cooped sharp with fried onions just comes together beautifully. The wings were the perfect combo of sweet and spice but my favorite part is how they fry them so perfectly. My baby enjoyed her spaghetti as well. Our waiter was amazing, even told us the joke from the kids menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the floral wall decore they have and all the Sorprano pics scattered around the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I don't think you'll find a better cheesesteak anywhere else!

After some reflection, I think that this was a 5-star meal. We've been looking for a good, (relatively) affordable Italian-American restaurant and now we've found it. We had: - Fried mozzarella (pretty much perfect) - An eggplant parm (delicious and crispy but just a little undersized compared to everything else) - An Italian chicken cutlet sandwich with sharp provolone, broccoli rabe, roasted red peppers, and long hots (absolutely enormous and almost perfect; the sharp provolone was very high quality; the long hots were the red ones that have a slightly richer flavor than the greens;the bread was good but I've had better) - Kids rigatoni and meatballs (great pasta; great sauce; meatball was just above average in flavor and texture and was medium in size) - Kids mac and cheese (so, so buttery; a big portion for a kids meal) [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was great and the restaurant was lively and loud but not deafening on a Sunday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Note that they warn you that dishes won't necessarily come out at the same time, but ours did. They also came out very quickly. We'll certainly be back.

Meatball salad

Café Carmela -- Pumpkin Pizza & More! On Halloween night, I stopped by Café Carmela excited to try one of their seasonal favorites, the Pumpkin Pizza! Since the restaurant was busy (understandably so), we started with the Meatball Salad, which turned out to be a fantastic choice. It came with crisp romaine, tomato, onion, red wine vinegar, EVOO, ricotta cheese, and delicious, tender meatballs. The mix of creamy and tangy flavors worked perfectly together, a great way to kick off the meal. When I asked our waitress for a recommendation, she mentioned that Café Carmela is known for their vodka sauce, my personal favorite, so I ordered the Drunken Rigatoni. It featured San Marzano tomato, cream, Stateside vodka, basil, and Grana Padano cheese. I also added a chicken cutlet on the side (because protein goals ). The dish was excellent, the flavor was spot on, though I personally would've liked the sauce just a bit creamier. Still, I'd absolutely order it again. Then came the star of the night: the Pumpkin Pizza. If you're a fan of seasonal specials, this is a must-try! It had arugula, ricotta, mozzarella, roasted garlic, sage, and roasted pumpkin, all beautifully balanced. The flavor was rich, cozy, and full of fall vibes. Next time, I'd just ask for the crust a little crispier (personal preference), but the pizza itself was amazing. This pizza is only available once a year, so definitely mark your calendar for next fall because Café Carmela's Pumpkin Pizza is worth the wait.

Cheese ravioli with meat sauce
Justine J.

Fried cheese - comes with four mozzarella squares topped with grated cheese and fresh basil. This would be a solid go-to for an app. Ravioli - comes with three or four (I can't remember) jumbo sizeed raviolis with generous meat sauce. The eggplant parm sandwich I would forgo. While it's toppprd with generous fresh arugula and drizzled with balsamic, it was a cold sandwich.

From the street it has a really cool look and the inside leans into an industrial style with a great aesthetic. It's a comfortable space with a nice vibe. We ordered a couple of cocktails: a lemon drop and a Manhattan. Strategically we decided to split a Detroit-style pizza called the Iron Pig. Good call because one square was the perfect amount for dinner. And now we have a few meals to heat up for the next few days. The drinks were excellent and the pizza was outstanding. Great flavor. Our server Ally was welcoming and friendly and top notch on service. It is the middle of winter so we weren't considering outside dining, but they have a great outdoor space near the street. Looks like a fun place to hang out. It's definitely a place we'd consider visiting again.

They don't have server tunnel vision, they work as a team and it shows! The vibes are so cool here. I mean, if you're gonna open a cafe next to a scrap yard, you have to lean in to the theming. I love the vibes, I love the appearance. The food is amazing top to bottom. First, their coffee drinks are always spot hitting, partly due to the fact that they roast their own coffee beans on site. The cocktail menu is always enticing an even though I'm not a huge drinker, I'll be working my way around this. The breakfast options are plenty and if you don't get their bacon you are missing out! The lunch sandwiches are served on a house made ciabatta style bread. Packed with fresh meats, cheeses and veggies. Every ingredient is perfectly seasoned and added delicately, not just items slapped on a roll. The Detroit pizza is what initially drew me in. While they have some options with more toppings, I'd say go for some of the more simple Detroit pies to really allow the famous crust to really shine through. My personal favorite so far is the white pie they do with roasted portobello mushrooms. I have only been for breakfast and lunch but with all the craft beer options I need to go back for dinner to sit and relax with some friends and family!

There wasn't a printed menu inside, so we were directed to view it online. We ordered the square white pizza because we were told it was thinner than the round pizza. We added chicken and sausage, and the total came to about $20. The pizza was okay, but it wasn't my favorite. I would have liked more sauce, and I found the chicken to be a little dry. The sausage had much better flavor. The crust was not crispy like I prefer. The restaurant itself is very spacious, with plenty of seating if you want to dine in. I also liked the old-style bench near the front where customers can sit while waiting for their order. Parking is probably the biggest challenge. There isn't a dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to find street parking, which is limited. Many of the nearby spaces seem to be occupied by neighboring businesses. One thing I did observe that concerned me was food handling. I saw a few employees using their cell phones in the kitchen area. After using their phones, they appeared to go back to handling food without first washing their hands or putting on fresh gloves. The employee who prepared my pizza was not one of the people I observed doing this, so I felt okay about my order. However, cell phones can carry a lot of germs, and proper handwashing before handling food is an important food safety practice. I hope management reminds employees to wash their hands and change gloves after using their phones. Overall, the service was fine, but I wasn't particularly impressed with the pizza for the price. I'm not sure if I'll return, but I appreciate the convenient location and hope they'll continue to focus on food safety and consistency.

I live an hour away from Verona so when I heard this place was only a 15 min drive away from our hike, I knew I had to stop by. The well known Verona's did not disappoint. Unique to this pizzeria, the pizzas AND cheesesteaks are award winning. The wife and I ordered one of each. When we pulled up, this place was packed for 12PM. It hustlin and busslin! I ordered at the desk and waited maybe 25 mins (not bad at all for ordering in the spot and with the place being busy). Pizza: we ordered the "Hot Honey" at $27. We attacked this thing within 2 minutes of coming out the oven. Incredible dough with depth and texture. Perfect balance of sweet (sauce/honey) and savory (pepperonis/grated parm). Topped with fresh basil and hot honey. I wished there was more hot honey but to each their own. Elite pizza!! I highly recommend Cheesesteak ($18): we ordered it with fried onions and Cooper Sharp. Delicious bread, I'm assuming it's home made and if it's not it's definitely high quality bread. Tender ribeye steak chopped and mixed beautifully with the cheese and onions. Meaty sandwich for sure. I prefer my cheesesteaks a bit more cheesier but I was a happy camper as was my wife. All in all, this joint is pumping out top tier "pizzeria food". This will be my post hike reward anytime I'm in the area. Dare I say Verona's goes toe to toe with Angelo's Pizzeria (highly regarded pizzeria) as best in the state! 5/5
