I thought i had posted a review for this (original location) already...weird. The pizza is a solid choice for lovers of thin crust. Local ingredients make for a solid range of options. Garlic knots are fully loaded with good garlic and a mass of oil. (That matters to me as I find it delicious and a hallmark of good knots.) The sauce served on the side is clearly the same as on the rest (lotta places do NOT do that and think folx can't tell...idk why). While I don't go for extra sauce typically, it saves for a good two days and can be used at home for other eats. Solid spot for take away. read more

I so wish I could rate it like a 4.5. It's sooo close to being perfect, BUT as a North Jersey native, I know my pizza. The crust is a pinch too thick and a bit chewy, and it needed considerably more salt than usual to bring out the flavor. Easy fixes: stretch the dough thinner and add a pinch more salt when cooking. Otherwise, it's spot on. It tastes like a Passaic County pie as opposed to a Bergen or Sussex. So it's better than most of what you'd get in Maine. It could pass for a Jersey/NYC pie. read more

I love this place so much, the staff is so friendly, every shift, they are beyond kind. Me and my friend come in routinely, and the all employees here remember our order. The food? FANTASTIC. Ain't nobody got pizza sauce as divine as Pizzaiolo. New york style. Quality cheese on that pizza. Affordable for college students. Unlimited pizza slices on Tuesdays (AWESOME). Entering the establishment on a cold day is akin to when you come home after playing in the snow all day as a kid. I go to college nearby, and even after a winter break where they hadn't seen me or my friend for over a month, the staff here remembered us, our order, and were excited to see us again. We ordered a large porko pizza and a small catering specialty salad the other night to go for the four of us and were really happy with everything! I've noticed the buzz about this place and the debate of "is it or isn't it" NY style pizza. To be honest, I was born and raised in NYC and find this whole line of conversation kind of annoying. The no-pizza-will-ever-match-the-corner-shop-of-my-childhood-in-brooklyn groaning and moaning. Frankly, I find it exhausting. I prefer to take a "love the one your with" approach to food, and on it's own, as a stand alone product, Pizzaiolo's pizza is pretty damn good! The other big win in our order was the salad. First of all, the fact that I could order a small catering size for $20 gave us MORE than enough for four people with plenty left over for a few lunches the next day. It was an amazing salad, loaded with roasted sweet potato, bacon, goat cheese and candied walnuts, over super fresh mixed greens. As an added plus, it came with a generous amount of house made blue cheese dressing which was EPIC!!!! There will be no "WAAAHHH, this wasn't as good as the salads of my childhood", because the salads of my childhood pretty much sucked across the board. THIS salad was special-trip worthy! This has been our go to pizza since we moved here 3 years ago. My favorite is the White Stone Spinach. I have had no problem paying $28.00 (pre tip) for that 16 inch pizza. I love that you can add pasta dishes, having that option is always a win! The garlic knots were really good, a favorite for sure! My husband ordered The Bronx Pizza and I ordered Cheese Tortellini with Meat Sauce and a Meatball! We both shared the Garlic Knots. We also ordered Cinnamon-Knots and Cheesecake. The desserts were really good and the Cheesecake was really really good! The pictures are kind of dark. Food was delivered in the evening once the sun went down, so sorry about that. Writing this right after I finished the pizza. Y'all. This is SUCH A HIDDEN GEM. I've had pizzas throughout New England + NYC and this cannot be beat. My partner and I ordered The Bronx; mushrooms, pepperoni, onions, garlic, green pepper. The pepperoni was not the typical deep red, burnt, greasy deal. It was tender and complementary of all other ingredients. Bonus? They deliver - on time!! On cold nights, rainy days, or anytime when you just wanna stay in. I've been searching for a classic pizza place in maine for some time now and Pizzaiolo hit the nail on the head when it comes to classic NY style pizza. My neighbors growing up were from Brooklyn and owned a pizzaria- this is the closest thing to it! You can tell they make the dough from scratch and its just the right thickness... not a slab of bread below your pizza and not a crispy cracker either. All the toppings are classic, fresh and delish! After reading all of the amazing reviews, I had really high expectations for Pizzaiolo........ and I have to say that I was rather underwhelmed. One random weekday night that we didn't feel like cooking, we decided to order some pizza. With the great reviews that we read on Pizzaiolo, it was a no brainer to order here. They had a decent menu with a good selection of specialty pizza's to choose from. We ended up going with 2 large pizza's, a buffalo chicken and the Bronx. I called in to place the order and requested delivery. The gentleman on the phone stated that it would be about 40 minutes for the pizza to arrive. After waiting about an hour and 20 minutes the pizzas finally arrived..... which I have a hard time understand the delay given that we live in the east end and the restaurant is fairly close to our place. By time we got the pizzas and were ready to eat they were lukewarm. Given our current state of hunger, it really didn't bother me, but would have definitely preferred a nice hot pizza..... especially for paying nearly $50 for 2. The Buffalo-iolo Chicken was good but I felt that the chicken was rather dry. I also felt that the pieces of chicken were rather large which made for some awkward bites. Other than that the flavor was great and the pizza dough and crust was very tasty. The Bronx was my favorite of the two. It was generously topped with all toppings and was really delicious. This one had mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, onions, peppers, and garlic. Super yummy. Overall, the pizza was decent. However, based on the extended wait, with the relatively high cost, and the lukewarm pizza, I was disappointed. However, my husband really loved it.
