Too many children!!! My wife and I have eaten here a dozen times over the past year or so. At first it was pretty good. But with each visit, there's more and more children regardless of the time you go. If you didn't know better, you'd think you were at Chuck E. Cheese during happy hour. I counted approximately 19 children while we were there and only about 13 adults. It's loud and nearly impossible to hold a conversation with all of the children shouting. To note, we have nothing against children but this just too much. It's not a place where you can hold a conversation without shouting or just relax and enjoy a pizza with a glass of wine. Last night was our last visit. It's just not worth going back. It's become a daycare center with average pizza and crummy service. We ordered appetizers along with two pizzas. The appetizers never came out, even after reminding the server twice. By the third time we just canceled them and left frustrated. The server couldn't have cared less. She looked as if she was still in high school herself. This wasn't the first time our orders have been botched here. Nearly ever single experience at Pizzalina we've experienced some type of mishap. The couple next to us last night were constantly interrupted by two children next to them climbing up and down the wall bench seating, bumping them and stepping on their jackets. They seem very annoyed. If you're an adult couple looking for a nice dinner out, look elsewhere. You'll regret spending your time and money here. read more

I was visiting SF on a trip from LA with my daughter and pup. My daughter was craving spaghetti so after a quick Yelp review I found this dog friendly Pizza spot. We visited because of all the positive reviews. My daughter ordered her spaghetti which was $19.00 The bill came out to roughly $20 and some change I left a CASH tip and went on my way. This morning I find a charge on my card for 26.66 this restaurant felt the liberty to charge my card an extra $6 for a tip even after I left a CASH tip. I dont normally leave bad reviews but this place left me with a sour taste. The waiter barely came out to see us let alone earn a 50% tip of 10$ for a 19$ plate of spaghetti. read more

This is the third time I came here. This time I brought my family to get some lunch on Super Bowl Sunday. The restaurant is clean, well decorated, nice ambiance, felt good energy in there. The only problem is the wait staff is inattentive. They forgot to give the coloring activities for the children which is available and visible from where we sat. I guess they are more interested in watching the organize sports on television. We waited for 10 minutes to get menus and had to flag someone down to place an order. The cashier end up serving us. The Ceasarlina salad is way overpriced for what you get. The pizza taste really good but it is greasy. There are a number of other better pizzarias in San Rafael like Amici's. I recommend going there instead. Amici has gluten-free pizza and there's a lot of choices. read more

Oh boy... well, I'm torn on how to rate this place. I thought the food was pretty good, especially for San Anselmo. We definitely lack any really great spots so this holds it's own. My problem (and this isn't really the restaurant's fault) is the parents in Marin. I mean, why, why, WHY do you think it's okay to let your kids act like monsters in public? Are you a bad parent? My guess is probably not but you allowing your child to run through a nice restaurant screaming and standing on chairs, play fighting with friends, bumping other patrons is totally unacceptable. And I'm a mother to an 8 year old boy who I demand extremely proper manners from, I mean demand. You will never find my child acting like a spoiled brat in ANY restaurant, not to mention an upscale pizza place. So, it's because of these lazy parents that I had to knock off a star... only because Pizzalina seems to have become a favorite go-to for these families and it makes it really unenjoyable to be there. Mediocre across the board: Salumi was not good. Some weird ass variety served with nothing but mustard, and only 12 little slices for 12 bucks. Was that coppa? Did you know it still had pig hair on it? Thats just bit too rustic for my taste. Pizza totally undercooked, runny and slimy. Mussels not fresh, tasting pretty gamy, which is not a quality we look for in shellfish! I've been to Pizzalina several times, but I had not had the chance to review it until now. It is, quite simply, some of the best thin crust pizza I have had in Marin county. The crust, when it comes right out of the oven, has the perfect mix of crusty chewiness, and combined with the right toppings, is heavenly. I went back recently and had an unbelievable "yolanda" which had tomato, basil, arugula, parmesan, arugula and proscuitto that was heavenly. They have a great menu selection of salads, pizzas, and a few key Italian specialties that will satisfy most palates. And the beer and wine selection is very good. The service can be spotty at times, mainly because it is a popular place on weekend evenings with families. However, despite grumblings of other reviewers with the amount of kids there, I didn't think the kids were a problem. I think the waitstaff just gets busy like at other places. I am writing this in hopes that the owner can address some of these issues. Save PIZZALINA! Because it seems to be potentially headed for a tailspin, from what I see.... I was so in love with Pizzalina when it opened. The pizza really woke up my palate and I love the decor. My only complaint was that I am a big guy with a big appetite and was disappointed by the ultra-thin everything. These were more like Hors d'oeuvres than pizzas. But I'm probably in the minority there and could stand to eat less, truth be told. On subsequent visits, though, I have been less enchanted, particularly by the staff. On our most recent visit we were sitting outside (no room inside) and it got cold. Our heavily tattooed waiter was nice enough and definitely respectful but hopelessly awkward and clueless. He could not turn on the gas on the outdoor fireplace. He brought us blankets (yes, they offer blankets) but they were awful airline cheapo things covered with animal hair and crumbs. He forgot my drink. He forgot part of our order. And forgot it a second time. And the food took for ever to arrive with narry a wait person to be seen all that time. I learned what a mistake it was to sit outside. Screaming children running all around. Dogs off leash hoping for a bite. A bunch of seemingly drunken surfer dudes loudly compared their gym experiences ... and when our waiter came out he knew them and we had to wait for them to finish their hail-fellow-well-met high-fives and bro-love chit-chat. On prior visits I've had other wait staff not know what was on the menu and forget parts of our order. DO NOT sit outside. Pizza is so thin it's cold by the time it gets to your table, and there's no attempt to address that issue, not that I have any clue what could be done apart from heat lamps and maybe stone serving platters that retain some heat. On one visit we sat inside and I had to give up trying to have conversations because of how loud it gets in there - nothing to absorb any sound. On these occasions loud kids were only a small part of the problem - seemed more like a adult WINE thing.... Maybe it's just me, but the food seems a bit hit and miss these days, too. But I'm not ready to give up yet.... Heartbreaking because it was such a great addition to the neighborhood and the outdoor seating held so much promise. But with all the borderline riff-raff, the occasional homeless dude, unruly, unsupervised kids, rude teenagers, wayward dogs and idiotic sport-moms/dads from the neighboring park, I guess we're just too lowbrow here in the Wannabe-Ross-Annex San Anselmo to support an only slightly upscale restaurant. Clueless mall owners shoulda stuck with Round Table, if you ask me, instead of pushing them out. That was a shoe that fit. read more

When going to dinner in a neighborhood place, it is important to pick good food and good ambiance. Pizzalina can only supply one. Good food juxtaposed children being coached to treat the restaurant like a parkour class only leads to subpar dining. Recommendation, to invoke parents to be parents while eating at a restaurant. Let the unruly and unencumbered enjoy. If your kids can't behave in public, please leave them home with a babysitter. It is not our job to regulate them. This is a good restaurant. We split the Cesarlina Salad, which had a nice light dressing. I loved the risotto, which had a generous portion of burrata cheese on top. My boyfriend ordered the Devil's Gulch Rabbit Ragu, and liked it, but the portion was a bit on the smaller side. As a former Sonoma County resident, I was happy to be able to order a Lagunitas IPA. The wine list looks good. The service was lacking. I know this is a newer restaurant, and I am hoping our server was new. It wasn't very busy, and there was a team of servers, a hostess, and a bartender. It took a long time to get our beers, as well as our check at the end of the meal. Also, after we ate our salad, our server cleared our plates and silverware, but then gave back our dirty silverware "so we could save it." I've never had that happen before. I've also served and bar tended for nearly four years in casual and fine dining settings, and I would always offer fresh silverware for the next course. I will be back, as the food was good, and this is one of my neighborhood restaurants. I think I'll give the pizza a try. I'm hoping the gluten-free pizza crust is worth the extra $5. read more

This was our 5th visit, and each time we have been VERY happy with the quality of ingredients, the portion sizes served, and the high quality of service from the staff. Our absolute Favorite Pizza ever, is from Diavola in Geyserville, however, Pizzalina is a VERY close 2nd, and is an absolute MUST try if you love thin crust, Neopolitan style pies, the freshest seasonal veggies, roasted in their brick oven, super salads, and a lovely list of wines & beer. Still haven't made up my mind about this place. I've been here four times since they opened-three times eating in and one take out. The first time was great-we both really enjoyed our meal. The second time, was so-so. Take out night was a disappointment-we live 5 min. away, but by the time we got them home, they were pretty soggy and lackluster. The last time I went, I went alone for lunch and was a little shocked to realize my bill was $20 and all I'd had was a pizza and tap water. I heard they used to offer a lunch special, but didn't see any signs of it in evidence. The margherita and mushroom pizza are the best-the potato pizza (don't remember their name for it) was disappointing. Service is good, but it is LOUD when the restaurant has more than a couple tables-wish they would've invested a little money in better acoustics for the place-makes for a more pleasant dining experience.... read more

Tried out the wood fired pizza and risotto tonight. Pizza was just OK - nothing special and the risotto was a little under cooked but had good taste. The server was very nice and often asked us if we needed anything- and the food came quick which was nice. I would try it out again- my husband on the other hand... Eeeh I do have to say- the kids run around like crazy which is annoying - they are directly next door to a baseball field. To be fair, the pizza is actually really good. Nice taste, thin crust and they gave plenty of arugula. I was tempted to give 2 points, but that would be only related to the delivery and that the pizza was cold. Not sure the driver liked his AC or simply had no warming bag for the pizza. However, that's not related to the quality of the pizza place. No 5 stars her because they only have one size, so no leftovers for me. And it's like a large medium size and thin crust... so I ate it all. A little bit more toppings in general and it would be a 5 star for me. Oh, I got 2 packs of spicy toppings, I am so used to it that someone just places a handful of Parmesan and spices in there. Kind of cute...btw, the Parmesan was fresh, came in a plastic cup... so, I liked it. Pricing for the pizza is normal for here, and it is worth it. Great pizzas in this next to my house location. I ordered the Alto which consisted of rosemary potatoes, leeks, garlic and parmesan cheese-delicious. I was here before and had a pizza with figs on it, but did not see it on the menu. Nice appetizers with a burrata and a type of bruschetta. Service was on point, the manager is present and making sure that all runs well. They have a nice fire pit outside for eating a fresco. read more

Used to come here just for the pizza and salad, both of which are outstanding, however, you have to try the entrees. Four of us shared the Caesarlina, the Winter Caprese Salad (Ramini Bufala Mozzarella, mixed winter citrus, Marshalls honey & toasted almonds) an incredibly delicious combination, a Margherita pizza, the Wood Roasted Prawns and the Devil's Gulch Smoked Pork Ragu with Cipollini onions on pappardell pasta. The only thing left on the plates were the Cipollini onions (they needed to be cooked more) and that was it. We mopped any sauce with bread. For dessert we shared the Rosemary Olive Oil Cake and a side of 3 Twins ice cream. Again, not a bit remained. Great food, good staff and lovely owners. Happy it's nearby. read more

I am so thrilled to have Pizzalina close enough to my house that I can walk there. I needed a place so good nearby! I've been there about three times and after being obsessed with Pizzeria Picco and knowing that the founder here had worked there for many years this seemed like a dream. The pizzas are great. My favorite aspect is that they even offer a gluten free crust which makes the place accessible for people with special dietary needs. I haven't had anything I didn't like there. The ceasar salad is great but is served as whole romaine hearts so it's a bit more work than I like with my salads. I eat a lot of salads and prefer they not require a knife. Just a word of caution. The service is great and they have a great wine and beer selection. The space is absolutely beautiful. The open kitchen is done mostly in amazing marble, but I do feel like it makes the bright light required in the kitchen spread into the vibe of the eating area more than I would prefer, so if you're seated facing the kitchen it might be a bit bright for you. I haven't been left hungry enough to try dessert there, but hope to one day. Timing on delivery between appetizers and the main course was off the last time I ate there and my entire meal arrived at the same time, but I'd rather have that to deal with than the opposite. I find things like this to generally work out with time. Nothing I have to complain about keeps me from going back. I look forward to each visit. Had great gluten-free pizza and salads here last week. All the food was of good quality and reasonably priced. They have a nice selection of wines by the glass as well. We especially enjoyed our 'winter caprese' salad with assorted citrus, fresh mozzarella, and pistachios. Our server was super friendly and attentive as well. The only downside is the abundance of kids running around the restaurant and talking at top volume. However, this doesn't really surprise me any more with Marin restaurants...unfortunately. Definitely is not a quiet date night experience. Sitting at the bar can offer a bit more peace and quiet. We will return! read more

Stopped in for a quick Monday night dinner. Five stars for the pizza. It was amazing and totally delicious. The Margherita toppings were good and tasty and just as they should be but the crust I felt was a step above most other wood fired pizzas around. We also shared a small tricolore salad that was nicely dressed and tasted mighty fine as well. The only downside is the location, tucked away at the far end of the Red Hill shopping center. But at least with Chuck E Cheese there are things to distract children so that they don't just run around and knock over chairs and bump into people. Granted, a lot of this is the parents' fault, but the restaurant does nothing to discourage it. To add to the challenges, the acoustics in the inside are so bad we couldn't hear each other (over the screaming kids). Service was a bit challenging as well. We were seated promptly, but after waiting 15 minutes at the table and not even getting a glass of water offered to us we left. The pizza looked and smelled pretty good, but it just wasn't worth the stress. Maybe next time we'll try take out. read more

I was amazingly surprised coming into this place. We wanted to just get something to eat, and it was the HighTech Burrito and Pizza that my wife heard was next door. I chose Pizza, expecting a simple pizzaria. What happened was an amazing dining experience with some of the best food and flavors. We didn't order any pizza but their antipasti, entrees, and dessert. Everything was exquisite and knocked our socks off because we weren't expecting such great food. The atmosphere is casual, homey, and very warm. Quiet too. Be sure to try the Winter Caprese and the Dungeness Crab Salad (its not what you think it is, and quite fresh). Will definitely stop by next week and pick up some pizzas to try. read more

Louise Franz has created a true winner. Her new restaurant is like stepping into a pizzeria in Naples, only cleaner and more modern. The pizza cooked in a ceramic wood-fired oven is authentically Neapolitan. There is a nice choice of pizzas with each made from scratch. The waiter, Marco, recently arrived from Italy, is charming and professional. Louise, the owner, was certified as a pizzaioli by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana. A kind of Nobel prize of pizza making. She is on hand, making pizza or welcoming guest. All-in-all, a fabulous change from the "throw-it-at-your" pizzerias that populate Marin County. read more

Happiness in a pie. This is a great little restaurant with an energetic vibe and really sweet staff members. The entire experience from the moment we stepped inside was perfect. We sat at the bar and made quick friends with our server and the couple seated next to us. The caesar salad was a little weak on flavor for my liking, but still good. The arugula salad my wife had was pure heaven. And the pizza is fabulous. The best we have found so far since moving down here in April. It is definitely a place we will go back to for the service alone. Thank God they have great pizza, too. As an ethical vegan, I sure love opportunities to get delicious cheesy food that is cruelty free! Pizzalina is now carrying Miyoka's vegan mozzarella which you can put on any pizza.
