To start off, this a cute hole in a wall pizza joint that truly gave off a NY aesthetic. Upon walking in you are instantly greeted by someone at the front register. I had let them know this was my first time here and if they recommended anything in particular. Surely enough, my date & I ordered 2 slices of pizza. We tried their Pepperoni pizza & Dino Pizza, along with a side of hot honey & ranch. They are 6x6 slices which is a perfect portion size in my opinion. The crust on the pepperoni was fluffy on the inside but a crunchy outer layer, meanwhile the Dino crust was a bit more flat. Aside from that in all honesty, the Dino slice stole the show. It was jam packed with flavor from the sausage, veggies and of course the hot honey drizzle gave it that extra kick. Whenever I drop back into this area, I would definitely go in for a slice. Small shop that makes great pies! I've only ordered to go so I will speak to that experience alone. Price is a bit high but you are paying for the quality so I don't mind. Pies are square and menu is short and sweet, have a daily special that's always very interesting and adventurous. Potato pizza is my go to here, white sauce, cheese blend with onions and sun dried tomatoes. Very good bite, potatoes are soft and the flavors are well balanced. Vegan pizzas are also really good if your into that. Staff has always been kind and prompt with the service although I have had the occasional delay and had to wait longer than expected (when they were busy so understandable). Worth the hype??? I've been here a couple of times and have only tried their pepperoni slice and both regular/truffle fries. The whole pizzas are pretty expensive so we also opt for the slice ($7). They also do a specialty pizza slice that rotates which is cool. Lines are long but they're always fast. Workers are also suuper friendly. The pizza is very good my only complaint is that it is also very very oily. Pizza is always oily but this one always seems very extra to me. I always have to pat it down a bit with a napkin and then it's perfect. The fries are also very good! Super crunchy but soft in the middle. Definitely need to come back to try more flavors of slices but overall would recommend just don't love the excess of oil! read more

Potato pieces weren't very distinct from the cheese - just felt like dry bits. The cheese clusters and sun dried tomato's saved it but they weren't in every bite. Talk about a gourmet pizza! Pizzasaurus Rex costs a pretty penny but you're getting exactly what you pay for. It's delicious, the service is great, and they give you a ton of pizza. Our party of 6 came here at the recommendation of a local friend, and we can see why he suggested it. We had tons of leftovers between 2 pizzas. Like I said, you get exactly what you pay for- a gourmet, fresh pie made with high quality ingredients. Great service as well. We got several slices for sharing this past Sunday... pepperoni and the dino slice (marinara, 3 cheese, sausage, mushroom, red onion, pepperoncini, parmesan, parsley). Wow, these large square slices were super cheesy, the toppings were flavorful, and I loved that the little pepperonis were crisp on top. The crust was also delicious as it was infused with the oils and flavors of all the toppings and melted cheesy goodness that went all the way to the edges, and yet the pizza wasn't too oily as a whole. Even the tomato sauce was nicely seasoned, and the ranch on the side was tasty too. Sometimes, I get slices at pizzerias and they're good when reheated but you can tell it had been sitting out for a while. Well, at Pizzasaurus Rex, these slices tasted freshly made around 8pm on a Sunday, some of the best and cheesiest pizza I've had in a while, so they are definitely doing something magical in that kitchen. Service was outstanding as well. There was a line to order, but it went fast. And it took 17 minutes for our pizza to be served at our table. The staff checked on us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed, and the tables in the restaurant were cleaned in a timely manner, keeping the environment comfortable and inviting for customers. Paired very well with a pint glass of locally produced Nitty's Cider (Gypsy Rose flavor) which was a nice Cherry Pomegranate beverage. This was a tad off putting but it did not affect the taste of the food LOL and plus it's a rainy day in sac so I'd expect nothing less. I've been here more than a few times and really like it as someone who's obsessed with pizza. One time me and a couple of friends got half combo and half pepperoni and the combo side was meh. Idk why when it had meat and a good variety of toppings. The pepperoni was much better than the combo for whatever reason, it's delicious and tasty. Then their potato pizza? Omg so yummy with the white sauce and sun dried tomatoes, delicious. Recently, same group of friends, we tried their rotating special which had white sauce, red onions, mushrooms, sausage, and parsley and it was delicious. We've also tried the truffle fries which were delicious. One time I came in to have a slice with another friend and the 1 slice is enough to fill 1 person up, it's a big piece. It's not the individual size of slices from their whole pizza. I'm not sure if this slice was from a pizza that was over cooked or when it was reheated it was over cooked? But it was too well done with the crust being somewhat burnt. Again, this could've just been this one instance with this pizza. Because their whole pizzas are cooked to perfection and the crust is light and delicious. Their whole pizza is an entire cookie baking sheet so between 2 people you'll have a few slices leftover. With 3 people we finish it and are very full. I prefer the whole pizza fresh since it's been much better than the individual slice. But the individual slice is more than enough for one person. Dino sauce is a sweet and savory sauce that reminds me of green chutney with a bit of a twist. Really solid choice to go with the pizza. It's a bit pricey but I like that the pizza comes in a tray and is pretty large. Can easily feed 4. We got the Dino eggs on our last visit and I enjoyed them when they were hot a fresh. What first grabbed my attention about Pizzasaurus Rex (besides the name, obviously) was their super cute pizza boxes with a little dinosaur on them -- so fun and creative! (Sadly I do not have a picture) I've ordered takeout from here a few times and also dined in, and I definitely prefer eating in. The pizza is 10/10 fresh out of the oven -- hot, crispy, flavorful, and just perfect. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it doesn't reheat quite the same. It's still good leftover, just not as amazing as when it's fresh. They also offer a variety of beers, and you can sit outside to enjoy your pizza, which is a nice touch. The staff is always super friendly, and the service has been fast every time I've gone. I've never experienced a crazy wait or large crowd, so either they're well-managed or I've just gotten lucky! The inside is pretty small -- you enter, and there's a compact dining space -- but I'm not even sure if there's full indoor seating since I've only sat outside. Someone told me there are no good pizza places in downtown Sacramento and I wanted to prove that person wrong. This place is one of the places that gives pizza in Sacramento a bad name. Went on a Sunday evening. Line out the door so I thought it would be promising. The service is slow and the lady at the front talks too much and that's why there was a long line. I sat myself inside the crowded restaurant and the ambiance is awful with people screaming at the four seater bar and the music being cranked up too loud. The pizza arrived and it was fine. It was a gourmet cafeteria pizza for $40. My biggest complaint for the pizza was the sauce. It is too sweet for pizza. I'll never come back here again and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for good pizza. read more

Unfortunately, on a Friday night we placed an order at 7pm and didn't receive our food for OVER an hour. We had a group of 9 people, and the place seemed a little busy but nothing that was crazy. I fully understand waiting a solid 30-40 mins for our pizzas since we had a larger group, but over an hour is insane. We got 2/4 of our pizzas at 8:15pm (1hr 15 min after ordering). One of the best pies in town! If you need to satisfy a pizza craving, this one should do the job! They sell pizza by the slice ($6.25) or whole pizzas (under $40 and serves 2-4 people or one dinosaur appetite). These are "Detroit-style" pizzas, so they are rectangular, not round. They are loaded with toppings and have a good cheese/sauce/crust ratio.That crust is so good! But what's even better is the "dino sauce," a jalapeno cilantro mix (think chimichurri) to top your pizza or dip your fries in. It's addicting. The ranch was too watery but had good flavor. There's also a hot honey sauce that I didn't try. Menu is small and basic, with a couple salads and fries. They have a "dino of the day" pizza that always sounds interesting. You can customize (sub or remove) toppings for any pizza. Beer selection is solid and sodas are in a can. Ordered at the counter and we got two pepperoni slices, Caesar salad and the handcut fries. Omg the pizza slice was amazing with crispy pepperoni. We had a dance competition down the street so we decided to try Pizzasaurus Rex out when we had some down time. It's an interesting little place! The pizza is cut in rectangles which is different. I wouldn't say it's my favorite, but didn't bother me too much. The restaurant is small, but has seats in all these little crevices and outside. It is a cool experience. We stopped at Pizzasaurus Rex with friends from out of town. It was a busy weekend and they had run out of pepperoni, but they had plenty of other options including the weekly Dino slice with pickles- Yum! We ended up ordering a salami pizza with ricotta ($28.99) and two Dino Slices ($6.75 each) along with some Dino sauce. The pizza is entirely different go for four people easily. The crust is thin and crispy with a good ratio of sauce, cheese and toppings. The Dino sauce was a unique cilantro jalapeño mixture that paired great with the pizza. The Dino slices on their own could be a meal and this week it was truffle oil, white sauce, three cheeses, dill pickles, Parmesan and seasoned breadcrumbs. We sat outside and it was a perfect Sacramento evening for it. They have self serve water station and we ended up going back and forth for water a few times. I think next time I'd bring my water bottle (I drink a lot of water). I really enjoyed dining in with Pizzasaurus Rex, I've had take out a few times before but dine in was even better. As a Caesar salad aficionado, the one here is legit. And if you like to eat a lot of salad, it's a personal salad if you try hard enough. The server Jill on Saturdays is a consistent joy in my day.
