Pizzasaurus Rec is a small cozy spot that gets a lot of foot traffic. Service is good and our slices came out quick. I like that you can order by the slice or a whole pizza. My partner and I ordered the dino slice which was a chicken, artichoke, spinach, olive pizza was well as a pepperoni to share. My partner loved the dino slice and I'm more of a plain pizza girl so I preferred the pepperoni. I would like to try the potato pizza one day. Hoping it's offered as a dino slice when we go next!
One of my favorite pizza places in sac! Came by on a Sunday night, waited in line about 15 minutes. Portion size is pretty big! And lots of seating inside and outside!
This place is still my favorite pizza place in the city. Just great pizza that you can get whole or by the slice. I usually get a half-pepperoni and half cheese pizza. The cheese pizza here is great; it's topped with dollops of ricotta and ribbons of fresh basil. They have a daily special: the Dino slice, which I'll often get as well. Sometimes the toppings are fun (e.g. pickles) and other times more run-of-the-mill (e.g. salami, bell peppers, etc) but I've never been disappointed even when I thought the flavors would be odd. They used to be pretty good about posting on Instagram what was on the Dino slice was, but I don't see it quite as often these days. If you're into saucing up your pizza, you can get ranch or hot honey or Dino sauce. It's been a while since I had the Dino sauce, but I recall it being tangy and cilantro-y with a bit of a spice kick. It sounds a bit different/odd, but I like getting it from time to time. The Dino eggs, from my recollection, are basically pizza dough balls. Mostly bread, which is fine since their bread/pizza crust is great, but I'd rather just stick to the pizza, so I only tried these once. The fries are good. Though, I probably wouldn't order them alongside the pizza unless you're looking for a carb bomb of a meal (which is what I had done the one time I ordered them). They're probably best if you're just looking for a snack to go with your beer & aren't planning on eating a whole bunch of pizza. They're quite good though. Nice and crispy. And it's a pretty big serving size. They have a dozen or so taps of various beers. Some local, some not. And they have a selection of cans and bottles as well. There isn't a ton of inside seating. A half dozen or so tables? And a few bar seats. There's probably more total seats in front and in the outside side patio. There's only street parking & there's lots of small shops nearby, so you might have to take a short walk from your car to get there.
Number One Spot For Vegan Pizza! SITREP On our way back to my place after a successful haul at the Saturday Midtown Farmer's Market and we come across this spot. We were hungry. We LOVE pizza! What's not to try? THE SETUP What is novel about their business plan is that they cater to BOTH vegans and carnivores! Often you get into a spot and you discover that the restaurant has no viable vegan options, OR it's a vegan spot that has no options outside that. PIZZASAURUS REX.... ...welcomes ALL! We wanted to try their Vegan Pepperoni Pizza - with both vegan mozzarella and vegan pepperoni (all plant-based) - generous portions of all the ingredients including the sweet basil! INCIDENTALS If you enjoy walking, getting there on foot is a better option considering all the parking is on the street. If you live in Midtown hood, you don't have to worry about it! THE LOWDOWN The pizza is delicious and reasonably priced considering the size of the rectangle-shaped pie!
My wife decided to try this place for dinner. The location used to be the old Rick's diner. We found street parking around the block. Two hour parking no meter. Nice They have seating outside in front on the sidewalk. Also some outside dinning in the back of the place. You order first from the counter and then find a place to sit down and eat. They have a water station near the counter. Also the bathroom in to the right of the counter. The lady at the register was very friendly and explained the special by the slice pizza. Also you can order a pizza half one topping and the other another topping which was what we went with. We got the regular combo and the vegetarian the other half. I got a table at the top in the back. The table was a little dirty and had not been wiped down. Had to do it ourselves. The manager was across from us but didn't say anything along with another worker. Oh well. It wasn't very busy inside. They had a couple of people on the outside tables and two tables taken inside. Pretty empty otherwise. The lady told us that it would be 22 minutes for our pizza to be ready. I think we got it in 20. These are not the traditional round type. They are square and a good size to. It was 44 bucks for this pizza since we had water to drink. They crust was the best part. Nice an crispy. The vegetarian was not bad. I Liked it . The Combo was just adding salami and pepperoni. It was alright. I liked the veggi better. A lot of my wife's friends said they really liked this place. I thought it was nice but the drive from Elk Grove was a bit for this pizza. Which I thought was just ok. At least we tried it. Not bad. If I was in the area then yes.
Super cool pizza spot! So first off the name alone was what sold us! The restaurant is pretty small but gives a cool cozy feel to it. The staff were super nice and helpful! And super welcoming. They serve alcohol here so perfect spot for a drink and a slice! The pizza was so good! They offer a lot of different kinds of pizza but we went with a pepperoni pizza. Super good and tasty! The pizza is a little more on the oily side but i suspect it's from the amount of pepperoni, which I'm not complaining about I love a good pepperoni pizza! Especially when they don't shy away from the pepperoni. Also ordered some truffle fry's and I'm personally not a fan of but if you're a fan of truffle that will be right up your alley! I will say the fry's were not soggy at all and had a great crisp to them and stayed having that crisp so that was really nice. All in all will be back here for some more pizza and to try some other stuff on their menu! Great spot, great people and great food Would highly recommend!

I usually order online and pick up my pizza, I've only dined in once. Online ordering is straightforward and easy. The restaurant is located downtown and does have a large outdoor seating area. Pros: love their pizza, my favorite is the combo pizza. The potato pizza grew on me, it was the white sauce and cheese blend that won me over. I haven't tried the Dino slice yet so I'll be making sure to go back and try it. Cons: since it's downtown and there's a lot of local businesses around, parking can be hard to find. Sometimes we get lucky and find parking close by!
Pizzasaurus Rex is one of my favorite pizza spots in Sacramento! In addition to their friendly staff, I love the decor that uses Pac-Man machines as tables. I like the merch for purchase and ciders they have on tap. My partner and I always get 1 slice of pizza each and a Cesar salad to share and both get full, so the portions are good! We end up only spending about $25 for those 3 items or about $40 total if we add two of their yummy ciders.
This is an interesting restaurant to hangout and pizza. The interior is small yet cozy due to the friendly and helpful staff. Upon entering, you place your order with the friendliest bartender. She'll not only help you with the pizza menu, she's also ready to pour you a beverage. The pizzas are made to order, served at your table all ready to devour. The pizzas are rectangular offering a snappy crust and flavorful (limited pizza by-the-slice available). This is a nice neighborhood restaurant but be prepared to wait for seating. Do so as you enjoy the bar. Although the entire experience was pleasant, I think the menu is on the pricier side. We arrived just before the hungry crowd to find a table for 6. I suspect the wait can be lengthy.
Stopped by while I was in the area after seeing all the great reviews and ordered the Dino Slice and truffle fries. Unfortunately, it was just okay for me. The pizza was too doughy and lacked flavor, and the truffle fries tasted pretty plain, I was hoping for a stronger truffle flavor. Glad I tried it, but it wasn't a spot I'd go out of my way to visit again.
Heard rave things about this place. Unfortunately it didn't deliver. Got a pepperoni pizza - it was delicious. Not much to say here. Could use more cheese. Also got the white sauce potato pizza and I paid extra for chicken. This one missed the mark. It didn't taste like there was any sauce. And I'm not sure there's any chicken on it. Atleast I couldn't tell. Kind of a bummer.
Woowwww - pizza is huge. We got the potato one because of how much I love Majkas. This one is diff I felt like there was ruffle potato crisp chips on this. It was super soft and fluffy. Exact opposite of Majkas. So, just depends how you like your pizza? (I like Majkas potato pizza more) But, this is still super yummy and had to get the jalapeño dip with it, not too spicy. However, I like Majkas dip a big more, it was more creamy? And I love how it is just next to Biergarten!!!
Stopped in on our way to the Saturday market and grabbed a slice so we could use their bathroom LOL The pizza was incredible (and I don't even like pizza)! We'll definitely be back soon!

Pizzasaurus rex is great!! I am generally not a fan of square pizza, but they do it right at Pizzasaurus Rex. Though they are square, they have the taste and texture of a traditional triangle slice of pizza. Usually the square styles are a bit too doughy and thick, but they somehow found a way to keep each slice on the thinner side and easy to eat. On my visit I had the cheese pizza... and this is no ordinary cheese! I as thinking it might be a very good version of the plain cheese pizza, but not so. This one had dollops of mozzarella for each slice as well as fresh basil. These ingredients really upped the game in terms of giving the pizza a more premium taste and feel. You can get pizza by the slice (on certain kinds, including the special they have at the time). I wanted to give the pepperoni a try and it was also very enjoyable. It wasn't overloaded with pepperoni. Each slice had the perfect amount! I also recommend trying the different sauces they have available. They have ranch, a green sauce, as well as a hot honey. All are excellent, though personally I prefer the green sauce and the hot honey over the ranch. The restaurant itself is cute and has an old school vibe. It's really fun to eat inside at one of the tables. I found the service to be top notch and friendly which just made the whole experience great. The place can get very crowded at times during prime times so just be on the lookout for that. read more

I was a plus one at this spot, so I did not pick it or order. My partner's brother selected the place and handled the order, and I just showed up ready to eat. We chose Pizzasaurus Rex because they offer a variety of vegan options, which is pretty rare for pizza spots. They had two to three vegan pizzas available, and honestly, they were not bad at all. My partner, who is vegan, was really happy with the selection. I love pizza, but I usually hesitate with vegan pizza because the cheese never quite hits the same. This place did a solid job with their vegan options, but for me, the non vegan pepperoni pizza was the winner. I loved the square slices, which were light and crunchy, and the pepperoni had just the right amount of crisp. Overall, a great option if you are dining with both vegans and non vegans, and definitely worth checking out. The spot felt relaxed and casual, with beer and wine available. It is a great place to hang out and catch up with friends, or to bring family for a laid back dinner like we did. read more
Today was the first time I ordered a regular size pizza instead of the slices like I normally do. Normally, I am in heaven with my pizza, but today, it just didn't hit the spot. I put in an order for a full size pizza with half pepperoni and half cheese. My sis got a sprite and I stuck with water. It was was such a gorgeous day, we decided to enjoy our pizza outside with others! The free water they offer near the front enters is gross. Definitely from the tap. I'm not sure if they offer bottled, but that'll be the route I go next time. The pizza took quite some time... I figured because it was busy and I requested it to be crispy. If the pizza tastes anything like the video I posted on here, it's absolutely worth the wait. It didn't come out crispy. I was pretty disappointed. To me it was undercooked, flimsy. Soft, but since my pregnant sister was hungry, I didn't want her to wait longer for me to walk back, and get it corrected because we waited a while already. I ate one slice and decided to box up the rest of my half. I figured I could fix it up when I got home. For me, Pizzasaurus Rex was missing that IT factor today. Zero crispy crust at all. It was soft, which made the rest of the pizza disappointing with softer toppings. We drove all the way out here for that crunch... that taste, but today's visit was about a good as going to the local pizza joint near my house, except a lot more expensive. My sister boxed her's up, too. We sat for a while so she could rest and then we were in our way. Today was a miss. Next time, I will step up to the counter if I have time or a not so hungry sister. Or even go back to getting slices because it's probably easier for them to crispy those up... and if I have to drive home to fix a pizza so it isn't so soggy, it isn't worth paying over $30 for. read more

Insanely good and creative! Love that the slices are squares first off. The flavors are super fun and even the traditional ones taste more flavorful than regular slices! I'm so glad I was recommended the Dino eggs they were so tasty and the dipping sauces were both amazing! Service was so nice, very fast and very welcoming and kind. Fun to see them interact with regulars who came in as well. Great lil spot in sac with a super cute logo. Have been here once before with a friend for dinner here going out and the energy was amazing. Great quality and portion for your bucks! Def will be back soon. read more

The is one of our favorite places to get pizza. We commute 45 minutes there and back for the pizza! The potato pizza, add chicken and bacon (if you like meat), is the BEST! The Dino art is cute! The location is lovely. read more

I was on a mission to find the best pizza by the slice on the grid. This was my fifth stop. I have been here multiple times over the years and would agree it is one of the best slice spots in Sacramento. I love their dino sauce. For the purpose of this search though, a cheese slice was the control. The price is fair compared to others and the service is quick and good. I love the interior and their beer selection as well. The flavor is well balanced, and the sauce is great. The touch of ricotta and fresh basil on top adds a nice boost. The dough was crisp but not chewy, and a bit doughy in parts. Overall, a great slice, moderately priced, and a good vibe. I have come back before and would come back again. read more
I had heard good things about Pizzasaurus Rex, but I wasn't completely impressed. The crust was a little doughy and chewy, but didn't have the snap or crunch to it that I like to look for in pizza crust. The sauce and cheese were fine; not memorable. Where they really lost me was the veggies. You have the option to add things like basil, mushrooms, and olives to your slice. I guess I naively thought that they would bake those things onto my individual slice, but they kind of just toss all of those ingredients on top of your slice, *raw*. It wasn't my cup of tea. But, I really liked their truffle fries. Service was casual and easygoing, didn't have to wait too long. You order at the counter, grab a seat, and they bring it out to you. The interior is small and unassuming, but there's also some outdoor seating in the front as well as the side. The vibe is simple and homey. The experience was ok; I know they do different slices by the day or so, so I'd like to try it again sometime. read more

Pizza was great. They have the expected options, not too many but they do have supreme which was great. The service even accommodated so one half of the pizza did not have certain ingredients. The crust was not too thick and not too thin. There also wasn't a ton of sauce which I like. read more

This place was fire! We went Saturday night. Came out so quick. They hand you a number and bring it over to you. Nice place inside and great seating outside. If it's cold they have heater for the outdoor patio area. The pizza was delicious and fresh. We will be back! read more

Came in specifically wanting an edge/corner slice. Got a middle piece with no crispy edge. I told them I thought Detroit-style was all edges and asked if I could swap, but they said I should have specified at first and wouldn't do it. I get that I should've said something earlier, but still frustrating service. Pizza was good, but I didn't get what I came for. Not to mention they also forgot about my order the people behind me got their order first. read more

I've been wanting to come here!! They sell full pizzas (you can do half and half) but they also do slices which is perfect for one person - decent size and you can add toppings! They have a Dino slice which changes frequently! Great concept great location read more

Such a cute place! Staff was so helpful in helping us navigate our way through our options. We ended up getting one of each of the individual slices offered for the day and split them. It was the perfect amount. Now for the pizza! It was so good. The pickle pizza was the highlight. It was unexpectedly amazing. Each slice had their own unique flavor and was cooked to perfection. I recommend giving this place a try. It is so cute inside with their decor. They have outside and inside seating and the food is amazing! Definitely going back! read more

Working through the pizza joints of Sacramento and this place was yum! Square thin crust pizza with unique topping options. A tad amount of oil to make it tasty without being gross. We did the rotating specialty. It wasn't super busy when we came so we got our food quick. Also quite the fun beverage menu. Will definitely come back. read more

Hi Yannet, I am sorry, we do not offer delivery. We max out our kitchen with in store orders and could not handle the volume while still serving an amazing pie.

Hi Anna, Yes we still do Trivia every Tuesday night. It starts at 7:00, but I suggest arriving early, as most of the tables fill up by 6:30.
