We got the large size pepperoni pizza, and it had so much pepperoni on it -- it might have been too much. Is that even a thing? My husband went to pick up the pizza in person. He said the customer service was great. Overall, we were satisfied with the pizza, I would say that the pepperoni was a little bit salty though (again maybe because there was just oh so much of it). I love that they gave fresh shaved Parmesan to go! The bread dough was simple, tiny bit tough, but good.

I've been coming here for several years. This is an update to a review I left many years ago. It is still one of the best pizza restaurants in Sacramento. They have a good variety of pizzas and a menu full of items that will please most anyone. The ingredients are fresh and the sauce and pizza crust is delicious! The staff are always so friendly, personable and accommodating. Excellent customer service and delicious food! Thank you Romas for still having great service and food. A++++

My first time and I was very impressed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Decor is dated but the pizza is actually very good![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A medium seemed like a large! The slices were a good size and I LOVE the thick crust!! And I mean it was thick! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was amazed by the traffic of people coming in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] How did I not know this place was here when I passed by every day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Hopefully they can get an interior change one day, but we're there fornthe pizza and they've got that perfected.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This has always been one of the best pizza places in Sacramento, my mom introduced me to them when I was a kid so I haven't tried them in 20 years, I decided to take my wife and found out they have another location now, so I got the combo special and the pepperoni with the white sauce, my mom use to get pepperoni with the white sauce, so I got half and half and it was so good and filling, real top of the line pizza worth every buck even my kids liked it, and they have nasty taste in pizza lol

If you are anywhere near Sacramento this is a must. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's like walking into your Italian grandmother kitchen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It may be the best pizza I've ever had. All the pasta is made from scratch. I can't say enough good things about this place.

    Gnats in our pizza
    Monique M.

I am very disappointed with the last experience I had with this location. My birthday was coming up and I dont ever ask for anything. This time, the one and only thing I wanted, was pizza from here. I told my bf a month in advance that this is 100% what I wanted. We ordered the pizza on my birthday, pick it up, get home, set the box on the counter. I open the box, 2 gnats fly out of the box and theres 1 dead one on the pizza. I call and start speaking with Maria. I told her what happened, and she kept insinuating that they came from my car and they dont have flies there. She was very rude and kept telling me that they didn't come from there. I asked to speak to manager and she got loud with me over the phone and said, "IM THE MANAGER, IM ACTUALLY THE OWNER!" I told her for an owner, she was being very rude and I didnt like how she was talking to me. I told her that all my family and a lot of our friends goes there for pizza on birthdays and celebrations and I was going to let them know they shouldn't go there anymore. She tried to apologize, but wasnt genuine. They were making another pizza for us, but after dealing with her being so unprofessional, I called her back and told her we didn't want it, and it was just really gross seeing gnats in our pizza. I told her my name twice, and she still said, "okay susan." For someone who is an owner, who according to the website background, has no business experience, she should have taken some classes on hospitality. I ended up giving them a 2 star because of all the other experiences we've had here. Its sad that its being ran by someone who calls their customers a liar.

    Mediums mushroom and olive pizza

We love Roma's and have never had a problem with any meal. Last night we took our son to watch the game and ordered two pies. Yhe Pepperoni was fabulous, however, the med mushroom and olive had a badly burned crust! My husband chose not to say anything so as not to ruin a good night out. I obviously would of sent it back. I didn't know about the crust until I decided to reheat lunch today. normally I would give Roma's 5 stars but the burned pizza crust was quite disappointing.

Well we went for dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]they need more lights to brighten up the place so we can see our food[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and [[HIGHLIGHT]]please get new pizza pans ours look like so old it was not setting on the table it was kind of up from the table[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and I ordered a combination and me being Italian I could have made the pizza a lot presentable it look like they just threw it on and could have broken up the sausage instead big pieces well we won't be going back there plus there was alot of new people there

The soup was fire....Pizza toppings were of excellent quality. Pizza dough was a little rough for my liking, but taste wise everything was amazing. The sausage, salami, and black olives on the combination were the stars of the pizza. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is clean and has a very 1980s-1990s restaurant feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Not that corporate vibe restaurants offer now.

    Pepperoni & Mushroom Pizza
    Corinne P.

The location isn't in the best area, but the overall experience makes you forget, as it's a very homey pizza spot with enough seating. I came with a large group & ordered a hefty amount of salads & 5 pizzas. We had a few customizations to our pizzas; they came out piping hot & correct. Our waitress was attentive & friendly. The chef salad was yummy & didn't skimp on the salami, ham, or pepperoncinis. For the pizza crust, it tends to be on the thicker side, so I recommend asking for a thinner crust. They don't skimp on toppings either & the pizza sauce was chef's kiss. Giuseppe Special, All Meat Special, Vegetarian, & Pepperoni were all 10/10

    Lasagna al Forno

Went back for the lasagna this time and it is really good!! Nice, filling, comfort food. Lasagna noodles have a great texture, meat sauce very savory, and they definitely don't skimp on the cheese.

Small Hawaiian Style Pizza, couldn't wait to dig in!
    Hilda A.

First time trying out this location, and wow! It's just as good as the Franklin location. The pizza is a little on the pricey end, but for the quality, absolutely worth it! I ordered a small Hawaiian with a soda for pick up and paid about $25. The crust was thick, but soft. The toppings and sauce, very flavorful and fresh, and generous portions. And it wasn't crazy oily like most pizzas. Definitely recommend it, and can't wait to be back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This shop is roomy, clean, and has accesible parking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Spaghetti Casserole - Bland Bland Bland
    Chef Will G.

I have been a long time fan of the Original Roma's on Franklin Blvd. I thought I would try this location. They are separate restaurants but they are family members. I called in and ordered to go. When I arrived I realized it was not in the best part of town, however inside it was nice. Giuseppe Pizza This was a delicious pizza with meat and vegetables, nice char. Rate 5 Spaghetti Casserole I asked if I can get this al dente, I was told yes. It was not, I speculate they cook a big batch of spaghetti then stick it in the oven when it is ordered. The marinara sauce was bland. If I dined in I would have sent it back. Hard no on this. Rate 2 Garlic Bread This came warm, not toasted at all. It comes toasted at other Roma's. Rate 2 Either the cooks lack experience or just don't care. This was an extremely disappointing experience. I will stick with the original Roma's.

    Hawaiian pizza.

I've been to Italy--including Sicily--more times than most people have left California, and my…read morepartner even holds an Italian birth certificate. With that context, we don't take Italian food lightly. That's exactly why Ippolito's Trattoria stands out. Nick, the owner, is there seven days a week. Whether he's running the kitchen like a true master or walking the dining room checking in with guests, his presence is constant. His wife is often by his side, and together they've built something that feels less like a restaurant and more like a family. The staff reflects that--welcoming, attentive, and genuinely warm. Now, the food. The chicken parmigiana is massive--easily two meals--and executed perfectly. The chicken is tender, well-seasoned, and balanced. We usually start with calamari or a shared salad, both consistently excellent. I'm especially particular about carbonara, and this is the only place in Sacramento that truly gets it right. No shortcuts. No cream. No smoked bacon. They respect the tradition--using proper ingredients like guanciale or pancetta and incorporating the egg the way it's meant to be. It's easily the best carbonara I've had in years. The arancini are another highlight. If you've ever made them at home, you know the effort involved--this is the real deal. Crispy outside, rich and flavorful inside, and absolutely authentic. The bread is baked fresh daily by Nick, and it shows. The pasta is artisan-quality, also made fresh, and sourced from a trusted local partner. Every detail reflects care and intention. Dessert is not an afterthought here. The tiramisu--made in-house--is flawless. And the cannoli? Outstanding. The shells have the perfect crunch, and the fillings are rich without being overpowering. Even the pizzelle cookies are done right. It's no surprise they've earned recognition, including: Best Italian Restaurant in Sacramento Best Restaurant Overall in Sacramento Beyond the food, Nick is active in the community and gives back, which only adds to the experience. We've enjoyed this place so much that we've chosen them to cater my 60th birthday for 20 very discerning Italian family members--many of whom we've already brought here, all with the same glowing reactions. If there's any criticism to address, it's usually from people saying the food isn't salty or herb-heavy enough. That misses the point. This is balanced, authentic cooking--where ingredients shine without being masked. I've been to Papa Gianni's in Cameron Park dozens of times over the years, and it's a great spot. But when it comes to the Sacramento region, Ippolito's Trattoria is my go-to, without question.

We received our bread and appetizer, but then we waited...and waited. As the restaurant filled up, we watched table after table receive their meals, eat, and leave while we still had no entrées. The couple next to us arrived about 20 minutes after we did, received their food, sent it back because it wasn't good, got replacement meals, and still finished before we were ever served. Each time we asked about our food, we were simply told, "It's coming," while the staff avoided eye contact. After more than an hour, our food was finally brought out by the owner's son. His explanation was that our steak took a long time to cook. That's simply not believable. A steak doesn't take over an hour to prepare, especially when every other table around us had already been served. I would have respected an honest explanation far more than an obvious excuse. To make matters worse, the steak was thin, overcooked, chewy, and cold by the time it reached the table. The quality was nowhere near what we've come to expect from this restaurant. I told the owner's son that I was more upset about the dishonest explanation than the delayed food. We've been loyal customers and planned to keep coming back, but honesty and accountability matter. Instead of acknowledging what happened, the owner came out, pointed his finger in my face, and became defensive because I called out the excuse his son gave. Rather than apologizing or trying to make the situation right, he escalated it into an unnecessary confrontation. Everyone makes mistakes. Kitchens get backed up. Orders get lost. Customers are generally understanding when businesses are honest and take responsibility. What I can't overlook is being misled and then treated disrespectfully when I questioned it. Unfortunately, this was the worst dining experience we've ever had here, and unless the owners learn how to handle problems with honesty and professionalism, I can't recommend this restaurant.
