First off, I'm ashamed to say that I haven't been here in a while. This is no fault other than my own. When I picked up my food, the staff inside was personable and things were ready to go. The scent of the food permeating through my car made it difficult NOT to break in and start eating while driving. Thankfully, my commute wasn't far so I was in good hands. The moment I was through the door, I opened the box of wings with passion and leaned into what are some of the meatiest wings I've had in town. They didn't last long. The wings were enough to tide me over for a moment and made for a great appetizer. It's been a couple years since my visit to Pizzava, and it is definitely time for an update. Since my original review, I have been fortunate enough to attend charity events that were either partly--or completely--catered by Sabri and his team. What's better than a free slice of pizza? A GOOD free slice of pizza. It was pretty much impossible not to have more than one slice of spicy chicken with jalapenos, though the other slices were just as enjoyable. These folks have definitely found their footing, and it was impressive each time to see how much food they managed to serve to hundreds of folks, every slice hot, fresh, and delicious. Speaking of serving up hundreds of pies, Sabri & Co. delivered and donated hundreds of pizzas to local hospitals during the COVID crisis. Their commitment to our community is pretty damn impressive, and greatly appreciated. One of my daughters is a nurse at Renown who worked with COVID patients, and she and her co-workers were certainly appreciative of the support. As we all know, it's important to support local businesses if we want our community to thrive and survive the pandemic. I noticed at work that this place is a favorite at Renown with the nurses, so I had to try it when the opportunity presented itself. After a night of beer, this place looked inviting. It is a rather small shop but offers plentiful choices for traditional pizza and Italian eats. We ordered a medium Backyard Pizza, which is a combo pizza. I have to say it was delicious. I has an assortment of toppings (see pic), and this place Is NOT stingy. The pizza is full of flavor. What I enjoyed about this pizza place was the crust. I usually leave the crust after I eat a pizza slice, but I finished this crust. It has an enjoyable baked taste with a great grainy texture. It hit the spot for my taste buds. We've been wanting to try Pizzava for some time and finally made it! I've gotta say, Reno has home to some of the best pizza! Pizzava falls right in line with what I expected. They were COVID compliant in case you were wondering, I felt safe there. I walked in, checked out the menu and easily was able to place my order. The guy behind the counter was friendly and patient despite being busy. I ordered 'The Garden' and another pie with sausage and onion. I asked him about the Garlic Balls and appreciated his honesty. He didn't say anything bad about but said the Cinnaballs were better. He could see that I wasn't into the Cinnaballs so he steered me to the Cheesy Bread. I took him up on the recommendation and ordered the Cheesy Bread and was happy I did, it will be a regular item every time I'm here. My wife and I went next door to RSL (for the first time) and sat on the patio while waiting for our order and when the order was done, it was brought to us. Great service! About the pizza, I'm of the mindset that there is no such thing as bad pizza so it's hard to disappoint me. Would I say that this was my absolute end-all favorite pizza in Reno, no. With that said, they were excellent nonetheless. They were appropriately topped and evenly distributed which being OCD, I appreciate. The dough was a bit chewy, and the sauce complimented the toppings. Now the Cheesy Bread, just a 'loaf' of dough covered in cheese. I have been wanting to try this place for a while now, just wasn't sure if its more of a lunch or dinner place as it doesn't seem like your typical pizza place, especially since its open until 2am and they deliver . We gave it a shot for dinner and ordered a X-large 19" pizza between 3 of us, we were sold on the buffalo chicken however the double pepperoni sounded good as well. Asked if we can do half an half and add jalapeno's, they agreed. We also couldn't decide between garlic balls or cheesy bread. The server recommended the cheesy bread so we went with that. My husband likes his spice so we asked if we can get jalapeno's on or stuffed inside, unfortunately, this was not possible so we got garlic on it instead. The pizza and bread came out together. The bread didn't seem like it was cut but we found out it was cut from underneath. The marinara sauce for dipping was a bit too thick and did not have much flavor, which made me think the pizza may not be good. I was wrong, the pizza was fresh and delicious and I loved the crust. The buffalo chicken was ok, it was more like grilled strips rather than being diced chicken for a pizza. Not a fan of the chicken itself as it was not too tasty either but the double pepperoni was actually very good, the addition of the jalepenos made it perfect however I wish they were fresh, not pickled. Although they do not have drinks here, luckily one of our favorite breweries is literally next door. We grabbed some waters a porter stout and a coconut stout. Both stouts were good and went well with the food. We chose to sit outside on the brewery side as the weather was nice. The tables we sat at could have been a bit bigger but then again they're on the brewery side so no complain. But maybe Pizzava should get some larger tables on their side to accommodate. read more

Wanted to try someplace new for pizza and wings. Pizza was good-not my favorite in Reno but solid and they get bonus points for staying open late. Wings were just okay-a little too greasy and not a lot of flavor. Would not order them again. This would be the place I would possibly go to if I wanted late night pizza. I've had this place in my list forever! When I found a company that would deliver far out to my area I went ahead and ordered to the house while wanting to support local. Having tried a slice during the Nevada Diabetes association gala, left me wanting to try it even more. Ordered the backyard - I love that the crust is super well done, and super crispy. The ingredients themselves were well balanced only I felt the sauce a slight hint of sweet. I would rather avoid any sweet in my pizza. The garden salad was prepared artistically with an even amount of olives and tomatoes. The chocolate mousse was rich and "fluffy", it was pretty close to my favorite Italian bakery back in SF. I just felt for the price the volume of food should've been larger or vice versa.. I'm glad I finally tried an order and went local. I wanna start off by saying I love love love that this is a local pizza joint. It's a refreshing change of pace from all the pizza chains I usually order/buy from. And mega points for being ABSOLUTELY delicious. I ordered it a night or two ago and it would not be overselling it to call it a perfect pizza. My friends were making fun of me because I wanted to try the cinnamon balls and they were shut down! They all had nothing to say as they stuffed their face with those delicious bites. It's a gooey, dough ball of cinnamon. This is like the Goldilocks of sweet treats. Not too chewy, not too hard, not too soft, the consistency is just right. Coming out of the oven, hot and fresh, paired with that delicious icing is phenomenal tasting. The pizza also does not disappoint. It's thin crust, but there's nothing thin about the taste. The best part of this place is really the cost. Most places charge a fortune for pizza and the prices here are very reasonable! Luckily, I live very close to the Virginia St location. On Sat my bf and I were drinking and we Def had the late night pizza craving. So we placed a delivery order at midnight.
