    12/19/2025 - Funghi Pizza

We'd been holding onto the remnants of a gift card for at least a dozen years. We rarely go to San Francisco anymore. Traffic, parking, crime, panhandlers and more, while each is bearable individually, all combined at the same time simply makes the trip not worth it. And it drives us crazy because there are so many great restaurants that we would love to eat at. So, we were in the Peninsula to check out a newly opened business and I decided to go a little out of our way to get a great pizza and use up the gift card. While I walked the dog up and down Burlingame Avenue, she went inside to place our order to go. Turns out that the gift card was so old, the team member had to go upstairs to the office to look up the value. We ordered the Funghi PIzza and the Saffron Arancini. Perfection! Both dishes! She also got a Pomegranata Soda which she enjoyed. Food, excellent. Service, excellent. Timing, it took a bit longer than the 15 minutes quoted to get our food. Eat there again? Absolutely!

Pizzeria Delfina is still a solid spot in Burlingame and I used to enjoy coming here for some pizza, but it's gone a bit downhill. We stopped in on a Saturday night and were able to get seated quickly with no reservations. Nice to not need reservations, but too bad it's just ehh now. We ordered the corn soup for a starter, noci pie, and tonnarelli all' Amatriciana for a pasta. The corn soup was nice to start with. I used to love coming here for the fennel sausage pizza, and opted for the noci pie per the server's suggestion this time. To my dismay, the pizzas are now pretty soggy and greasy on the bottom. The actual flavor of the noci pie wasn't bad, but the dough was too thin, causing it to be too soggy and greasy to hold up the ingredients. The pasta was just alright and portions in general were a bit small. Gluten free dough is still available for pizzas. Our waitress seemed annoyed at us for almost the whole duration of our meal. I had dirty utensils and had to ask for a new set. She asked us about ordering dessert, to which we said we could take a look at the menu. We didn't find anything interesting and opted to go somewhere else for dessert instead. She wasn't very attentive during our meal and didn't bring us enough to-go boxes and we had to ask for an extra box, to which we received a half eye roll. She was extremely quick to get us our check without us even asking though and there were plenty of tables available. Ok... We ended up at a nearby restaurant for a dessert to end our night instead and even though it was only a dessert there, we received great service. Burlingame has plenty of other Italian restaurants and other great restaurants nearby as well. Seems like other people seem to think Pizzeria Delfina has gone downhill as well, and I think I'll be steering clear of it to go to one of the other nearby spots I like more for both better food and service.

I've been a fan of Pizzeria Delfina locations in the city. The Burlingame location is smaller but the layout is better. The food was good but service is a bit scattered. Favorite was the pizza and pomodoro. The pasta had a great chew. The salad was a bit salty and small. Prices are on high side for amount of food you get but it's good. Multiple people came and dropped off dessert menus and took awhile for the bill. [[HIGHLIGHT]]No outdoor seating[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Street parking

Been eating Defina from the Mission to Burlingame Avenue. Simply the best pizza. Manager in Burlingame appreciated our positive feedback and asked us to look him up the next time in (which will be soon)!

First time coming here and I already know it's not going to be the last! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is so nice -- sitting outside on a sunny day with a cold beer just felt perfect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I started with the olives and the crispy little fried bites (so good, crunchy outside and soft inside). The pizza with arugula was amazing -- super fresh, light, and full of flavor. Everything tasted authentic and made with care. Service was friendly and fast, and the whole vibe of the place is just easy and welcoming. Definitely one of my new favorite Italian spots.

Pizzeria Delfina has been a solid spot my family's been going to for the past few years. With that being said - in our most recent visit the quality of the food seems to have dropped off a bit from what I remember. My favorite dishes from our evening were the salsiccia pizza and duck ragu. Everything else seemed to be missing something and just lacked flavor. With that being said, the staff has been and is always so friendly and accommodating each time I've been here. I really hope the food quality improves, I'd love to keep coming back.

Came here for a quick bite after checking out the Burlingame tree lighting and Winter Marker. We ordered the saffron arancini, the Star Route Escarole-Persimmon salad, and the clam pie pizza. Honestly I was a bit disappointed at the food. Everything was just OK with lack of flavor. The standouts are the roasted hazelnuts in the salad and the tomato sauce on the pizza. Everything felt overpriced for what you get. I likely won't be back as there are better Italian pizza options throughout Burlingame.

    Alex A.

Stopped in for pizza and wine. Had the clam pie and it was super salty -- almost inedible and not much else for flavor. Crust was crunchy, almost dry, and lacked chewiness and depth of flavor. Service was slow. Host staff was gracious. Wine = expensive. With all the other pizza choices, I would not recommend this place.

This is a great place if you want some delicious and fancy pizza. It's located in the heart of Burlingame. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is chic and inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff is friendly. Service is quick. The food was so delicious and tasted fresh. I ordered beef tripe and it surprisingly yummy! I will continue going back.

    Pasta Carbonara
    Daniel L.

This place is a mixed bag. First, the good: Their pasta is great. They have proper, authentic carbonara, with eggs (not cream) and guanciale (not panchetta or bacon) which isn't too common in the USA. Since they have "pizzeria" in the name, you'd expect them to have good pizza. They say it's Napoletana pizza, but it's not really. I tried a Margherita. The base is too thin meaning the pizza basically falls apart, while the crust is way too thick and is bland, tasteless, and too dry. Compare the pizza here to somewhere like Doppio Zero, Terun, or Napoletana Pizzeria, which have actual (AVPN-approved) Napoletana pizzas and you'll immediately notice the difference. Finally, they add a 5% junk fee. This is a sneaky way to increase prices in a hidden way, without adjusting menu prices to reflect the actual price of items. This is anti-consumer and I'm taking off one star as a result.

Easy pastas and pizza. We got a bunch of things to share and a bottle of wine. Service was friendly and [[HIGHLIGHT]]ambiance has the same warm summer casual night in burlingame.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They are also dog friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They use to have a back patio open during covid where the back parking lot is. I enjoyed that more than the street and uncertain why they did not keep that open.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Total came to $50/person.

Great service: Friendly and strong customer focus. Great food: delicious, nicely presented and clean flavors. Nice ambiance : high ceilings, pleasant breeze from large open windows.

Good pizza! They make their own sausage in house it's excellent! The dough is very good and chewy. Service is attentive but not too much they leave you alone enough. I tried the sausage salsica and the other was mushroom added sausage both very good. Great relaxing place for a pizza with calm music playing. I like that they use the qr code for the bill if you want to pay by phone. They do add 5 percent for employee mandates. I really don't like that but it's not the fault of them. Overall a great place for pizza.

How many people can one pizza serve?

One pizza is good for two people with regular appetites or 3 if you have just 2 slices each.

    Gluten free pizza/pasta?

Yes to both! $3 extra for gluten-free crust.

When will you bring back the carbonara pizza and can you make it a staple item? Love it!

I just ordered the carbonara off the current menu. Does that answer your question?

    Fried chicken monday?

Every Monday, 3 pieces for $15!

Do you have whole wheat pizza's?

Waiter says not 100% whole wheat, but the dough does have whole wheat in it.

Made with Bread, parmesan, garlic, oil and herbs. They resemble garlic bread but better in my opinion. Dip that in their pesto ranch, and it's a combo that can compete with anybody. Not to mention their pizza and wings are good too. The dough is soft but still holds strong. Although the sliced pizza might be sitting out for a while they reheat it in the oven before serving. The whole pizzas are made fresh. The pesto ranch alone is enough for for me to keep coming back. We went on a slow night and still dealt with a total "slow turnaround" and some classic operational gaffes. They couldn't find the bottle of wine we actually wanted and then spent way too much time trying to sell us on a different bottle we had zero interest in. It was a bit of a circus just to get the basics situated. But then the food arrived, and that's where the magic happened. I've seen reviews complaining about a "lack of flavor," but that was not our experience at all. We started with the beet salad--the honey-lemon notes were nice, though nothing to write home about. But once the mains hit, everything changed. The Carpaccio was spot on, the Ribeye (prepared perfectly to medium) was delicious, and the Branzino special was fantastic. And the Rigatoni Rustica? Believe the hype. It's a classic for a reason. Bottom line: The service is definitely sloppy, but I wouldn't dismiss this place because of it. The food is genuinely good Italian and the prices are reasonable for Burlingame. My advice? Skip the salads, ignore the service "monkey dance," and go straight for the classics. I'd definitely go back just for the steak and the Rigatoni alone. Highly recommended if you actually care about what's on your plate. An A++ local find.
