Pickle Pizza
Ben K.

When Chef Ann Kim's other famous pizza spot, Young Joni, closed down, this neighborhood spot became the go-to for her creative and eccentric pizzas. Street parking available nearby! The spot itself has a local, yet elevated pizzeria vibe. The space revolves around a big, ornamental brick oven that reminds you right away why you're there! Service was great and responsive during our visit. I would recommend a reservation during traditionally popular dining times, as the place is well-visited! On this visit, we came in search of the iconic Perfect Pickle Pie of Young Joni fame, added to Lola's menu! We enjoyed every bite of this dreamy pie: pickles, ranch, and potato chips make this pizza addicting! We also had the Korean BBQ pizza, a well-known special of Lola's, which had a lovely blend of arugula, marinated pork, and BBQ spices. The perfect combo of sweet, savory, salty, and umami across those two pies! Definitely recommend checking out this spot for your next pizzeria night out or simply for a take out pizza night in!

Gochugaru wings, beer

Delicious pizza! We stopped by here during happy hour on a Thursday, the place was fairly empty but started to fill up for dinner as we were finishing up. We got 2 pizzas, some wings and a cocktail. The pizzas were great, no notes - even the single topping pizza on happy hour was super delicious. The wings were good, but we thought they were a bit overpriced, even on happy hour - I think we got 6 wings for $16. They had a good selection of beers, and a spritz on happy hour that was good, but a bit sweet. Overall, everything was a little on the pricier side, but delicious pizzas nonetheless!

amazing pizza! we tried the korean bbq pizza and my sha-roni, and both were tremendous! the korean bbq pizza has a big sesame oil presence, it tasted almost like bulgogi. this was out of my norm for pizza but definitely worth a try! the other was also very good. it was more of a traditional red sauce pizza, we added jalapeños which gave it a kick. lastly, we tried the vanilla ice cream with olive oil and salt and that was absolutely phenomenal. we ended our time by visiting the photo booth in the back, and although our first pictures came out a little funky they helped by giving us extra tickets to retake it. the vibe in the restaurant is very relaxed and they have a great playlist! totally recommend

Went to Pizzeria Lola for lunch with the family! Service was good, and the restaurant is cute! Parking sucked especially with all the snow we had this week! Food was good but nothing so extra Wow about it! Overall Food, and Vibe 8/10

Easy to find. Street parking can be tricky in the neighborhood just be patient. Cool vibes inside. Interior has eclectic decor and is clean. Service was good not great. Order: Lady zaza. The crust and dough is the star of the show. Crispy, light, airy and flavorful. Kimchi was legit. Gochujang drizzle added great depth of flavor. I know it's the style but don't love the floppy pizza. Still a delicious bite. My sha-roni. Delicious pepperoni and sausage pizza. Great ingredients equals great pizza. Soft serve with olive oil. Strangely delicious. Could not stop eating it! Overall: Really great. Did not disappoint on flavor. Just don't love the flop gelop.

False Pattern (Hazy Pale Ale)

On a Friday around 4:30, made it to Lola and wasn't sure if I was going to stay or take away. Decided to stay when I found out the Bar area requires food to be ordered and not just drinks if you want to stay. Smaller Dining area with their wood fired oven in full view-some outdoor seating also. Good selection of craft brews on draft so I ordered a False Pattern (Hazy Pale Ale)-hoppy, smooth with lighter citrus notes. For pizza, ordered the My Sha-roni (to go) and the Korean BBQ. Lighter crust with a perfect balance of toppings/sauce to crust. Cup Pepperoni and fennel sausage hit the spot. The Korean BBQ pizza, (most popular) was delicious! The Beef Short RIb isn't a typical topping with the soy-chili vinaigrette and scallions taking it over the top. I'm not a big fan of any type of fresh greens on my pizza but arugula on this one balances it all out nicely. Service was excellent from beginning to end given engaged Server team. Overall, pricey and worth it. Not hidden but a neighborhood Gem nevertheless. Food Networks/shows favorite that lives up to the hype!

My boyfriend and I tried Young Joni and had to see where it all started. In our opinion, this was even better! The vibes are great! This is a small place but we were able to grab some patio seating on a beautiful night! Inside there was a disco ball that gave off some pretty fun vibes! This would be a cool spot for a first date! Our server was straight to the point but polite and friendly. The food was delicious! We got Parma and La creme with fennel sausage (definitely add, it's sooooo good) the La creme with fennel sausage is my new favorite pizza in the twin cities! Holy yum! The wood fire pizza taste is delicious! The crust was crispy yet chewy! Looking at other tables, I just don't think you can go wrong with any option! Parking is free but street parking. Definitely a winner in our book!

Korean BBQ

Korean and pizza is my kind of fusion! Pizzeria Lola has a really cool copper wood-fired oven which really did its job, so well in fact that two of our pizzas burned and they decided to rebake them. I was a little turned off by the copper dinner tables, which left a metallic smell on my hands, but a small complaint. I loved the taste of the Korean BBQ pizza! While there was more than a jungle of arugula, I think the flavors really worked well together. I didn't taste much of the scallion but a bite of the short rib together with creamy mozzarella, slightly bitter arugula, and the sweet/spicy vinaigrette made for a great slice. I'd love to try some of their other pizzas, keeping in mind it is a bit pricy for a personal pizza. A nice treat at a DDD-featured restaurant!

Leek and egg pizza
Cianna B.

A highly hyped but ever-delicious staple in the MSP pizza scene. We hadn't been here in almost 10 years and my parents had seen it written up as a top pizza place in the country recently and we decided to give it a go again. We made sure to have a reservation as I remember the wait being super long here in the past. Unfortunately there were still some issues when we arrived and we ended up waiting over a half hour for our table even with our res. We got the seasonal corn caccio e pepe corn appetizer which was quite tasty and a side of kimchi to tide us over until our pizzas came. Pizzas themselves were quite tasty, our favorite is still the leek with egg in the center, so unique and a wonderful savory experience.

A great place to enjoy good Neapolitan crust pizza! Kid friendly and a good wine and beer list! Yes, they have cocktails too! so, adult friendly too! Definitely get a reservation or you'll be waiting a while. Overall a good casual place to enjoy good food with people you like!

Lady ZaZa (4/5)
Ryan S.

I got the Lady ZaZa, which was good (4/5)! It is definitely a more unique pizza that you do not see all the time. The crust is thin and crispy, and the toppings give it a good flavor. It is on the more expensive side for what it is (priced almost as much as a full 16 inch at some other nice pizza restaurants), so the value could be better. The service was ok (3/5). Our waitress was nice, but we had empty waters for a while. The ambiance is where the restaurant shines (4.5/5)! It is a nice environment; the photo booth and all the strips hanging on the wall are a nice touch!

Chocolate Budino
Jay S.

Knowing that this place has the same owner as Young Joni, I already expect the pizza to be very good, and I was not disappointed. Their pizzas are probably some of the best, if not the best, I have had in the Twin Cities. I will definitely recommend this place to those that visit Minnesota if they want a good pizza experience here. All pizzas that I had ordered in two occasions were hits. The marinara had the right amount of garlic and the tomato sauce offered a raw yet delicious flavor and the olive oil gave a pinch of extra layer of flavor. The margherita had fresh cheese on top of basil and the same tomato sauce as marinara, and was just delicious. The xerxes provided an interesting flavor juxtaposition with feta cheese, almonds, olives, and spinach, along with mozzarella. It had an abundant amount of ingredients and they altogether provided many types of flavor and texture. The lady zaza pizza had kimchi, Korean sausage, and gochujang on it, so it was basically like staple Korean food on top of pizza dough, which was innovative and worked pretty well in my opinion. The forager had many kinds of mushroom like crimini, shiitake, and portabella, and was flavorful because of the spices like tarragon and parsley, and fontina cheese. If there was anything I would be critical about, it would be the desserts. The lime ice cream was so sour that I couldn't even finish it, even if it looked really pretty. It was soft serve ice cream which I wasn't sure if that had anything to do with the concentrated flavor, but I would highly suggest changing to another type of fruit for flavoring. The chocolate budino was hard and had underwhelming chocolate flavor, almost as if it was pre-made and taken out of a fridge. The smooth and velvety texture of a pudding that would traditionally define a budino just wasn't there at all. Regardless, I am still giving this place a 5 because the pizzas were just too good. But if one has read all the way until here, then one would know that I do not recommend getting desserts at this spot. I would, however, encourage people to try their other non-pizza dishes as well and see what they think.

It's a humble-looking spot inside, but it doesn't lack in its food. Most is a self-service situation where you're choosing your table to sit at, grabbing your own water, and bussing your own table if you have the time. Casual spot with some interesting pizza. Boludo seems to be Argentinian-owned and family-run. I ordered the Porteño and asked for extra parmesan because of an Instagram reel I've seen with parmesan covering the crust. Due to a small misunderstanding, they ended up giving me something even better.... A fully parmesan-covered pizza. It was probably the best thing I've eaten that entire trip. Truly a great blend of salt, acid, fat, and heat. The second day I tried the Campo and tried to ask for the same cheese covering but ended up with the style I saw in the reel with the crust covered in cheese. It was still good, but not as good as my first order. They have a pretty solid Caesar salad as well! I would genuinely fly back to try this place again.

I've been here a ton of times but always for take out. The restaurant is self service meaning you sit yourself and get your own water. It was really busy when we went but food came out in about 20 minutes for how packed the restaurant was. The empanadas are a must. I've tried most of them but the carne is my favorite. And the chimichurri is so good with a nice vinegar kick with fresh herbs The Campo pizza comes with chorizo, mushrooms, onions and mozzarella. The best part is the parmesan cheese they put on the crust. I would like the amount of cheese on the crust they show in pictures match what you get in person. Our pizza was really heavy on the mozz and not enough balance of the other ingredients. Also got the flan which has candied pecans and dolce de leche on top and the custard below. It tastes the best when you have a bite of everything but the jar they put it in makes it difficult. If you like flan it's a good dessert to try.

I ordered thru Uber eats and the delivery driver decided to take his sweet time to deliver the pizza. As I waiting in the lobby of my hotel for him, I saw him pull up to my hotel and he sat in his car for nearly 10 minutes doing God knows what as he left his vehicle. He slowly walked towards the entrance of the hotel holding my pizza while on his phone laughing. I'm pretty sure he was on Instagram. Seen a very funny post while my pizza is getting colder and colder. I contacted Uber eats and they told me it wasn't their problem. I would have to contact the restaurant. So I did and I got in contact with Emily. She was so helpful. Very respectful and showed so much urgency for my concern. I told her I'm pretty sure this pizza is delicious. However, Uber eats told me it wasn't their problem. It was a restaurant's problem. Emily helped me by calling Uber eats herself and they told her I should call Uber eats myself so they can refund me well, Uber eats policy is if the food is cold it's not their problem. Even though I didn't get a hot pizza, with the amazing customer service Emily delivered, I will absolutely be coming back to try a hot pie from Black sheep. It has a lively but comfortable atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy your meal. The staff was friendly and service was impressively quick from start to finish. We started with the app bread, which was super good and a great way to kick off the meal. I decided to order two pizzas and split both in half, which let me try four different varieties. It was definitely the right move. The bacon and golden pineapple pizza was one of my favorites. It was refreshing, had a nice little kick, and further confirmed that pineapple absolutely belongs on pizza. The lemon ricotta with goat cheese was also tasty, but the cheese was so rich that it started to dry out my mouth after a couple of slices. The meatball and ricotta pizza was a classic done really well. The meatballs were especially flavorful and clearly high quality. My favorite of the four was the hot salami and chili pepper pizza. It was absolutely divine with just enough heat, and the salami was perfectly crisped. The only downside to the pizzas was the crust. It was very thin, which made it difficult to hold all the toppings without them sliding off. There also was not much sauce, which made some bites feel a little dry. Overall, Black Sheep delivers creative and delicious pizzas in a fun atmosphere with fast, friendly service. Despite a few issues with the breading of the pizzas, I would definitely come back to try even more of the menu.

When my friend and I walked in, we came into a fairly spacious dimly lit space with loads of people inside. We were immediately informed that there would be over 1.5hr wait for a walk-in table. We were given the option to wait for bar seating as it would probably be quicker - and surely, it was. We did have to wait quite a bit, but it was a tolerable amount of time and definitely less than what it would have taken for an actual table. My friend and I decided to share 2 pizza pies as we wanted to get a taste of two different flavors, so we eventually settled on Korean BBQ & Perfect Pickle Pie. KOREAN BBQ As it was created by a Korean chef, it definitely had true authentic Korean flavors. As a Korean myself, I was very familiar with this soy vinaigrette and have tried this on many salad before - so, it was hitting home for me. Also, you can't go wrong with the bulgogi/beef short ribs known to all those who had Korean BBQ before. The combination of the sauces that they use for this pizza is definitely very rich, full of umami. I personally enjoyed it. PERFECT PICKLE PIE This pie was a totally different flavor to the Korean BBQ. It's less rich and maybe can be overpowered or considered more bland compared to other pizza flavors. But when tried together with the BBQ, it balances out the richness of the BBQ with the more subtle/less umami flavors. This pie gives more of a tangy/sour taste that pickles provide and more of a crunch due to the chips that are added on top. The dill is present, but not overpowering. It's a nice low-key kind of taste that people who like pickles will enjoy. Overall, the flavors were very rich in every pizza pie that we had that our mouths were bursting with flavor. It was definitely the most unique pizza toppings that I've had and can see why it's so highly regarded. I can tell that they really are meticulous with their every process and that their pizza guy by the wood fire oven is expertise in what he does. My friend and I walked out quite satisfied and I was honestly more full than I expected.
