Super chill pizza spot right literally steps away from the water in imperial beach. The location alone is a win , you can literally grab a slice and walk straight to the sand. They've got both indoor and outdoor seating, but on a hot day I'd definitely recommend sitting outside because it gets pretty warm inside. Atleast outside on the deck you can get a breeze. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference. We tried a mix of pizzas. Kids got classic pepperoni & cheese (NY thin style) I got the mushroom pesto (good, flavorful and light) Hubby got a Hawaiian with jalapeños (deep dish style) Loved that they offer different styles depending on what you're craving. I stopped by Pizzeria Luigi about 45 minutes before closing. Their kitchen had just closed so they had slices from the case available. I went with three slices, the first was pepperoni slice, the second was the White Girl which had chicken, bacon, and spicy ranch; and I can't remember the name of the third slice. The slices were heated up again in their oven. The pizza slices were just okay, not special, I think it's because it was from the case and I went late at night. I would like to go back and try as freshly baked pizza. The customer service was great, the guy working was very nice. My total for the three slices and a drink, including tax was $12.23. Rather than make a big issue out of it, I simply chose not to return for a while. Recently, with family in town and living just down the road, I decided to give Luigi's another chance. I ordered a standard pizza that was half pepperoni and half cheese, along with four garlic knots. When I was told the total was nearly $37, I was honestly shocked. I understand that nobody forced me to place the order. Once I had already ordered, I decided to go through with it. However, what bothered me most was the complete lack of price transparency. While waiting for my food, I looked around the restaurant and could not find pricing displayed for the pizza or other menu items anywhere inside the restaurant. The total was given verbally, leaving customers with little way to verify what they're being charged before committing to an order. What makes this even more frustrating is that Luigi's online menus still appear to show older pricing. Customers who check the menu before visiting may reasonably expect to pay those advertised prices. Yet once inside the restaurant, there are no visible prices displayed to compare against. If prices have changed, they should be updated online and clearly displayed in-store so customers can make informed decisions before placing an order. The pizza itself was decent, but nothing extraordinary. Paying nearly $37 for a basic half-cheese, half-pepperoni pizza and four regular garlic knots felt excessive for what was received. Several customers who came in while I was waiting even commented on the lack of visible pricing and agreed that it was frustrating. It's disappointing because Luigi's has been a local staple for years. As a longtime customer, I expected better transparency and a better overall experience. Unfortunately, this visit confirmed the concerns that kept me away in the first place. I won't be returning. That's not a huge loss for the business, but it's disappointing to see a longtime neighborhood pizza spot move away from the level of service and transparency that local residents deserve. The pricing feels excessive and lacks the transparency customers deserve. I hope Luigi's improves its pricing practices and customer service, but for now I'll be taking my business elsewhere. We were in IB over the July 4th weekend and wanted something walkable from our condo so we didn't have to drive. Pizzeria Luigi's was down the street so we looked up their menu on Yelp. We had the Crime Scene and Mona Lisa pizzas. They were both really good!! We had 8 people and we had 2 slices left. Their pizzas only come in one size and it was big. The last pizza stop I made was Village Pizzeria on Coronado. I definitely like the crust here more. It was nicely crispy after going back into the oven. I got a slice of the buffalo chicken looking one and a slice of the ricotta, marinara, and meatball concoction they call "crime scene." The lady at the counter said that's their best seller and a customer favorite, and I can taste why. Something about the way the marinara is portioned makes it super appetizing. Like, I'll take two bites of mostly ricotta cheese, and it'll almost start to feel cloying. But then I get to the next section of marinara, and it's like my taste buds are refreshed. In contrast, the chicken one was not great. I thought it was drier than it looked, and the chicken was too lean, bland, and overcooked for my preference. But the crust was still good. You can also order whole pies of your favorites and their menu has options that might not always be out so make sure you check it out if you're ordering a whole pie. Flavor is always on point and slices are always hot and fresh. They also have bomb garlic knots and selection of drinks to choose from. It's a small cozy interior, they have bar seating and low top bench tables, a bench out front, and a whole patio full of seating. So even during busy times you can always find a seat. Folks sorry to say I was recommended this local little pizza place while visiting Imperial Beach area this past week. Being from Michigan I love Detroit Pizza and thoroughly enjoy a good pie no matter where I go. Unfortunately this place was not it . The inside was dirty to include how the staff was dressed. What happened to this place? I've been here twice, both on a saturday in the last two months. The line is insanely slow with no apologies from staff. Employees saying they're short staffed is a common theme. It is hot while waiting 20 min just to order food. The restrooms are disgusting. I get they were going with the graffiti theme but at least keep them sanitary. A pregnant sweaty woman takes your order while simultaneously running the kitchen.
