What a great neighborhood spot! First star of the evening was our server. She was so friendly and had great suggestions. We sat on the patio which was small but so nice. Pretty quiet other than some road traffic. The food is so great. I forgot to take pictures of everything because I was too excited to eat it. We got an asparagus buratta special, insalata stellina (my favorite dish of the night), pizza stellina and patate. Plenty of food for 2! And we had a couple of drinks that were so refreshing. We've gotten pizza from Pizzeria Stellina multiple times. The pizzas are consistently good, plenty of toppings and some creative options. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. A great choice for our first time in Sellwood! We had the Salsiccia pizza and I had a Pfriem pilsner. Both were great, the pizza had a fantastic crust and a nice balance of flavors - a little sweet, a little spicy with delicious fennel sausage. Really a nice place inside. Very big fan of this place! Drinks, food and ambiance were all too notch. Can't say I've ever had a beet salad before but I enjoyed it a ton. Such unique flavors for pizzas too with really good dough. My only issue was the server didn't write things down and forgot drinks for us once and ranch after the pizza came out but it was very busy, so I'll give him a pass. read more

Food was good, customer service could use some work. We've been meaning to try this place since we moved to Sellwood but we kept coming by when they were closed. They were closed one day because it was warm outside. Great atmosphere, my drink was VERY good, and pizza was also really good. Only negative was that our server (that seemed like a manager or owner, but maybe he just acts like he is) was pretty snarky. Like, he seemed to go out of his way to put us in our place. Odd. I'm not sure why he wants to make his customers feel uncomfortable. We won't let him keep us away, but they need to tell their servers to be more plolite. I would have given 5 stars otherwise. read more

I'll start off by mentioning that one of my best dining experiences when I was last in Portland was at a Cena, so I was excited to hear an alum from there had opened Pizzeria Stellina and put it on my go to list the next time I was in Sellwood. The space is functional modern industrial farmhouse, with some my back hurts just looking at theses benches vibe, and a seemingly out of place wall mural of, who knows, Mama Stellina? Service was a few rungs down on the adequacy ladder. I was seated promptly and my order was taken efficiently, but that's where it ended. Absolutely no engagement to follow up on if I needed anything else, how my meal was, etc. While I don't expect butler style service from a local sit down pizzeria, it shouldn't mimic a notch above a counter pickup experience either. I was glad there was a water at my table. The Margherita pizza looked wonderful. The crust was charred, crisp and had an excellent chew, and albeit a handsome looking pie, it was savorless except for the undercurrent of tinny tasting tomato. A tactile win, but a flavor fail. The Insalata Stellina is their version of a Caesar salad. Crisp romaine, flavorful, loaded with freshly grated Pecorino Romano pillowy cheese, perfectly nuanced lemon garlic dressing and delectable focaccia croutons. This salad was the saving point of my meal, but not enough against the backdrop of all else to warrant a return visit. read more

Picked up a Principessa(Prosciutto, fresh mozz, basil, tomato sauce) pie from here last night, and was really impressed. How impressed? I planned to eat half... but I ate it all... in one sitting... by myself. Such sweet gluttony inducing pizza! Overall the ingredients were perfect & high quality. But what impressed me most was the crust. It was thin, with a nice crunch on the bottom, but still soft textured sour dough flavors in between. And yes... I ate all the crust too. Super friendly staff as well. And the atmosphere inside was super cozy and inviting. My only complaint is they often won't take takeout orders on Fri/Sat nights. Maybe not enough oven space? Overall, from my first impression it deserves to be right up there with Ken's, Apizza Scholls, Lovelys. And I'm lucky enough to have it in my favorite hood of Sellwood. read more

It's world kindness day today and as I thought about the kindness that was extended to me stellina came to mind. I watched at their food cart location as order after order came through during the snap shut down. I came with my sister and niece in a time that felt so uncomfortable and scary to ask for food...we were greeted with a smile and the warmest energy. Our food came fast....and when I telll you I still dream about that sauce on that calzone...........their dough and sauce reminded me of being in Italy(I've never been but it transported me there...I just know it was authentic because it tasted like nothing I've ever had before and I've had so much Italian food...I worked at a famous Italian restaurant for 4 years a while back!!) I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for feeding the community. Thank you for making me and my family feel comfortable. Thank you for going above and beyond.(they even partnered with another restaurant called Estes and gave us extra food...homemade pasta and sauce to take home and make) You will have a forever supporter in me. This place has changed hands a few times since we lived here. Previously, it was PieVino which had better food and selection but was hit or miss during the pandemic. Most recently it is "Pizzeria Stellina" which we had high hopes about originally. We came here when it opened in its first week and have been back at least a dozen times. Tonight was a weird experience. We ordered a wedge salad and two pizzas. The wedge salad came out smaller than usual and with wilted brown lettuce. The first pizza out was the margarita, which was burnt and inedible. The second out was the Pera and it was fine. The waiter came by and asked how the pizza was, in which I responded "ok, but a little more burnt than usual". He preceded to get the owner who accosted us about the pizza stating that it "was supposed to be that way [burnt to a crisp]". I said it was fine but they insisted on remaking it for us. We took pictures of several other non-burnt Margherita pizzas which came out while we were waiting. When we asked for them to box everything for us to go because it was getting late, they got even more defensive with us and comp'd our meal. I'm used to Nostrana, a similar concept, where they will refire your pizza no questions asked let alone have defensiveness about it. They wouldn't even let us pay for our drinks when they did bring out the food. It was nice they comp'd our meal but it did feel unnecessarily contentious. They remade the pizza which was excellent - I just hope the owner didn't spit in it after being so angry with us! In this business it's important to have humility and customer service. All in all giving it a 3 stars because early on it was a good concept and I'm hoping this was just an off night. read more

Super cute pizza shop in the Sellwood area. We came here with a group based on a recommendation from my friend and I really loved the unique flavor combinations. We order the salsiccia, patate, and pera to share for a group of 5 and it was just the right amount. The pizza has a nice crunch for the crust and held up well with all the toppings. The toppings flavors were balanced and not your standard. Like peach on a pizza? What! They also sell soft serve so you can end your meal with something sweet. Definitely a must get. read more

Starting a review like this is challenging. Everything was superb that I don't know where to start. Walking in the atmosphere is peaceful and subdued. A very nice variation to the common pizzeria. We were part of a group that they actually opened early for us. The service was incredible. Anything we needed they were there to help. We even broke a plate and it was like water under the bridge. They didn't even bat an eye. Appetizers were all amazing. We had the wedge Caesar salads. Both were incredible. My favorite was the wedge salad. The combo of the crisp iceberg, bacon, pickled red onions, and extremely tasty bleu cheese dressing was amazing. It took a while for the pizzas to come which actually was perfect. The atmosphere invited a cordial and convivial culture. The family had a great time catching up. When the pizzas came, WOW! So good. Presentation was great. Each pizza I tried was amazing. I struggled to pick a favorite. I repeat, everyone of them were amazing. I also want to reiterate that the service was amazing. We were doing a late Christmas celebration so we had some presents and goodies crowding the tables. They were so good about fitting the pizzas around all of our stuff. Lastly, the soft serve. Easily the best I have ever had. Came in a simple glass cup. Chocolate, vanilla, or mix. Topping options of caramel or fudge. So good!!! Love Pizzeria Stellina! The staff is the best and their pizza is electric. The crust is made in house by Gina and she has it down to an art. They have a great Italian wine selection, really good salads and excellent draft beer, they also have soft serve ice cream with a chocolate shell. I know, right? It has become my favorite pizza place in Portland for all the reasons listed above and I say that I do love pizza and have tried most. Other local favorites are Ken's, Lovely's, Nostrana, Pizza Thief and Pizza Scholls. Tonight, my family of 3 went (attempted to go) to this establishment. We put our name on a sheet and stood just outside the door (hovering and checking in regularly for FORTY FIVE minutes. There were 2-4 tables available on the patio the entire time we waited. At no time did any of the servers acknowledge our existence. Offer to seat us. Offer water or a glass of wine or a cocktail. OR EVEN OFFER A MENU TO BROWSE. The interior of the restaurant was also empty (save for one table). I'm astonished by the abhorrent lack of service. Meanwhile they were continuing to take to-go orders by phone. At 46 minutes, we crossed our name off and walked away and went down the street and enjoyed a lovely dinner. It's a bummer. We live in the neighborhood and are never again going to patronize this place. I get that staffing is hard--but graciousness isn't. read more

Hands down, the best gluten free pizza I have ever had - and I don't take that lightly. I am a pizza person - I met my husband at a pizzeria we were both working at, we had wood fired pizza at our wedding, and honestly if I don't get pizza once a week I feel a little less like myself. While I can't speak for the regular crust, my husband enjoyed his Margherita pizza as well. I ordered the gluten free Perra and I honestly questioned if it was indeed gluten free (it was). It was chewy on the inside, crispy on the out with an almost tangy dough. Bonus - it even had a couple of air bubbles. As I'm writing this review, I'm sorta thinking I will stop in this week to get my fix. I've been here once, and seriously can't wait to go back to try a different pizza. If you're a fan of Neapolitan style pizzas and are in the Sellwood neighborhood, definitely worth checking out, and a must if you are gluten free. read more

We had Pizzeria Stellina delivered last night and it was delicious! We ordered the Patate pizza, which had potato, bacon, and gremolata. Since we live nearby, the pizza didn't have far to travel and it arrived hot with the bottom of the crust still crisp (a pretty impressive feat considering that it was delivered). The pizza was clearly made with care and the crust had a crisp exterior with a nice chew. So excited to have this new spot in the neighborhood! read more

I love wood fired pizza and this looked like a winner. I didn't see a ton of reviews, a little surprising considering Sellwood has a lot of popular places, but I figured this is new and seems like that is the case. Our waitress told us it was her first day and it seemed like they were still getting used to some staffing techniques. It also took a while to get the pizzas even though there were not that many people there. I say this just to give a fair warning for right now, I think they are still getting the hang of it and I don't want to diminish them for that. Anyway the most important part is the pizza and that was really, really good. The crust is that wood-fired crispness I desire. I got a basic margherita and added pepperoni and it was just what I wanted. If I have any complaint, maybe a little, the crust might overwhelm the pizza taste at times, but I'd much rather deal with that than a too thick crust. They had alcoholic slushes which is fun. We got salads which were also very good. The space is cute but small and got a little heated with the oven... they may want to open it up more. So again, they have some growing pains right now but the pizza is really good and I will be back to try more. read more

It's a real restaurant! No scanned menus . The menu is not extensive but there is considerable variety in the salads and small plates. The wine menu is quite good. Lots of variety and the three selections I tried were excellent. I believe that that, throughout life, One prefers the pizza of one's youth. Johnnys pizza in Columbus Ohio in the late 50s early 60s made pizza like Gina produces at la stellina . The crust is spectacular: crisp, chewy, charred and flavorful. The sugo di pomodoro is umami heaven. It's sweet with natural sugars. The mozzarella is not excessive and has a considerable amount of flavor. And there isn't too much of it! I had a margarita tonight so the only other ingredient was basil. Perfect. The basil was put on the pizza just before it came out of the oven. Not raw, not burnt. Now, YMMV! I'll preface with the fact that I have celiac so can only opine on the gluten free crust - which was delicious. Very good texture and didn't taste "gluten free". Husband and daughter loved their regular pizzas, and my daughter said it was the best she's had. And she's a little bit of a pizza snob. It's definitely on the more spendy side for my gluttonous family since everyone needs their own, but pricing not at all out of the ordinary. It's a small fortune to eat out anywhere these days. All in all - delicious pizza, very careful attention to solid flavor profiles and all very fresh/obviously scratch made. I look forward to returning at some point. THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD. Delicious crispy/chewy thin crust pizza with fermented crust and interesting topping combos. I usually just go for margherita when I get Neapolitan style pizza, but the other pizzas have a really good topping ratio and interesting ingredients that taste v high quality. I've now been to Pizzeria Stellina a handful of times, and I can say with all confidence, it's delicious. Wonderful flavor combinations, excellent food. The daily menu always has something excellent added to it, and it's exciting to hear the specials. Current favorite, the Wedge Salad. Additionally, it's such a cozy vibe inside. The staff are friendly and inviting, and you see the same faces every time. Truly a place where they'll know your name when you've been a couple times. The cherry on top is the soft serve ice cream.
