I'm not here to join the pizza battles or the semantics of pizza vs. pie. Deep dish is something I like to grab once every couple of years, and this original location was a nice experience. I loved the small bar feel of the space, and the staff were great. I ordered an individual Chicago topped with Italian beef and giardiniera peppers. If we're going to hurt people's feelings regarding "authentic" toppings, might as well lean in and skip the pepperoni entirely. The individual size was the right choice, though it was still a significant amount of food. The beef and peppers were excellent, and the crust had a nice crunch and solid flavor. The sauce was good, and while there was plenty of cheese, it wasn't the molten lake of cheese I feared. This was some of the best-tasting Diet Coke ever, served right from the gun at the bar where I waited for my order.

Drinks were strong, well made. Pizza was hot and fresh, made to order. They make a point to tell you the pizzas take some time to make, I guess people don't know what they're getting into with deep dish? I ordered the chicagoan, in personal size which was nice because there were three of us and we couldn't agree on one pizza, so personal size is nice. The place is a bit snug, an older building with tight space for all the tables. It was a bit warm when we were there so the restaurant was warmer, but overall a good visit.

Loved The place and service was top notch! Not impressed with food very bland. We got the Spinocoli pizza and I guess I'm just not a deep dish Chicago pizza person. Crust was very hard. we also had the spinach balls the crust was very hard and again kind of bland Our waiter Eric was top notch friendly, informative and all around kind! Great customer service. His shift ended before we left so Juan and a new trainee ( Jean ) took over . Disappointed but they were nice too but I would've tipped Eric more

Great food, great service, great atmosphere! We stopped in for just a snack and settled on the Calamari and Shrimp+Crab Dip. Both were great! The calamari was not excessively oily/greasy. The crab and shrimp dip was smooth and cheesy, it's paired with toasted bread, or I was dipping my calamari in it as well! Seafood hates to see me coming. The interior is darker with cozy seating, it definitely has a nostalgic/official pizzeria smell and aesthetic. Bar probably has 10 seats. Lots of carry out going through. Nice waiting area with seating.

Thick crust, lots of cheese, rich tomato sauce, and big portions. A must-try if you're visiting the city!

You can find this location of Pizzeria Uno at 29 E Ohio St, Chicago, IL 60611. I believe the area is called "Near North Side" - I'm unsure of the parking situation as I walked to Uno from my hotel a few blocks away on Magnificent Mile. I believe this is the original Pizzeria Uno location - I've had Uno previously as there was a franchise location in Buckhead Atlanta years ago so very familiar with the style of pizza, which I've always preferred for deep dish. I figured I should visit this venerable location, actually within site of Pizzeria Due about a block away. The building is very old-school and unassuming, as you would expect for an establishment that has survived for so long - you walk into what looks to be a staging area for takeout so a couple of sets of doors to access a small dining area with a bar along one side - the interior is full of wood and once again old-school, comforting. I sidled up to the bar and looked over the menu deciding on a small deep dish sausage pizza with a starter salad. There's something about the way the sausage melts into the crust while the deep dish cooks that makes everything even better. The House Salad I received was a bit disappointing - really mostly iceberg lettuce piled up with the usual toppings (I should have opted for the version topped with Italian coldcuts - I just didn't think I could manage it and the pizza). I felt like it had way too many croutons (I left about half of them). Half the Deep Dish Sausage came out to me at the bar at about 30-35 minutes from ordering - I was asked if I wanted the rest or if it should be boxed up - I opted for the latter. As expected, the pizza was wonderful with a chewy crust that somehow still had crispy edges. It's also loaded with a ton of cheese - I wolfed down the half and enjoyed the rest later the same nigh. Service was great - the guy behind the bar had plenty of anecdotes and entertained all of us eating there. Overall a great experience.

Came across Uno's while shopping in the area. Here was our experience: -Entered the main entrance and "security" was eating lunch on the bench -Entered next door and the hostess yelled "it'll be 45 minutes wait time for food"; -Tables are very close to each other so be mindful of bringing shopping bags, big purses, only can sit on the floor -Our server Ethan was new so giving grace as he had quite a few tables to manage -We ordered a medium Numero Uno, 8 big slices -It def took almost 45-minutes for the pizza to arrive after the order was placed -The toppings on the pizza were not cooked and just tossed atop -Pizza was not seasoned UNO's will be a reference to determine if I can like deep dish pizza as I try other restaurants.

I've only had deep dish twice and NYC pizza already clears. There HAS to be better in Chicago but this was an absolute travesty. Appetizers were SO mid. The calamari was absolutely flavorless and all the crust was hard, brittle, and fell off with the slightest movement. Definitely frozen . The shrimp and crab dip was aight, the garlic bread super duper mid, felt like I was eating bricks. The pizza was genuinely devastating. This can't be what deep dish is. The crust was so hard it felt like I was a union civil war soldier eating hardtack. Maybe it's because of the size we got, maybe if it was bigger it'd be better. W cope. Costco pizza is better than this Word to my dead New York pizza CLEARS.

Had the Uno Pizza, the one with pepperoni, sausage, onions, green peppers, and extra cheese. Overall it was good, I thought the crust was way too think and hard to enjoy. Also went with the meatballs appetizer, which was very good. The garlic bread that came with it was the best thing I ate. I first tried Uno's back in 2023 and loved it. When i left california to drive cross country last June (2025), Uno's was on the top of my chicago todo list. The pizza here is that good! Their iconic deep dish pizza is flavorful, crispy, and packed with ingredients. It's my favorite pizza in the world, and I've tried pizza from Detroit, new york, toronto. I particularly enjoy chicago deep dish pizza because it's not as popular around the US, it's a unique way to eat pizza and i prefer it this way since it's more satiating than traditional pizza. Both times i visited Uno's, i sat at the bar. There was no wait (since i was by myself), but the restaurant was packed regardless. The bartender, who i remembered back from my first visit, is a great guy. He's got great service and hospitality, and was able to get my order in promptly. The pizzas do take quite a while to come out (about half an hour), but they come out fresh and are well worth the wait. The ambiance is lively and fun, so this would be a cool spot to bring a group, but maybe a little overwhelming if you're on an intimate date haha Every time i come to chicago, i will be on a quest to eat at uno's. I'm getting hungry already! 10/10

Here in Chicago for work again and my manager and I love visiting this pizza spot. Love the salad and bread, which fills us up before the entrees arrive. Regardless, we both order spaghetti and meatballs PLUS a deep dish. Generous servings, reasonably priced, all a great value. Yes, can you tell we aim for leftovers to reheat in the hotel microwave? I love the refillable Diet Pepsi, which is kind of funny to have after all the food we tend to order;) The "historic" wooden decor and furnishings exude a kind of rustic feel, and do be careful not to bang your knee as you exit the booths, if you're in one. Will definitely return when we're back for the next show! We love this place!

I would say this spot is 3.5 stars overall. I've been here twice, each time because friends/family from out of town wanted to try deep dish pizza. It's in an excellent location in River North and has a nice casual old school bar vibe. It's got a lot of history! It's the birthplace of deep dish pizza, so for that it's a cool place to try deep dish. Service is excellent and I appreciate they tell you up front that the pizza takes about 30-45 minutes to make once you put your order in. (I think our medium pizza took closer to 30.) The servers are friendly and check in just enough. There was also a photographer who came to each table and offered to take a complementary group photo. He came back at the end of our meal with the printed photo, which had a memorabilia vibe with some pizza and other images printed around our group photo. He also showed us the photo with a physical frame ($25) and one where they made us into cartoons (cute!!). We opted to keep the free photo without the frame. A nice touch to the overall ambience of the place, which is popular among tourists and out-of-towners! Among the 3 of us who were quite hungry, we ordered garlic bread (giardiniera) and a medium sized Numero Uno pizza. We finished the garlic bread and ate half the pizza (1 slice each). And we were so full! The pizza had nice flavor, with the sausage providing the saltiness and the tomato offerings a tanginess. The crust itself is very much like a pie crust. It's crumbly and crunchy and thick so takes some work with the knife. The garlic bread was good and I liked the kick of the giardiniera though it was more cheesy than I prefer. Overall the place is solid for its pizza. I definitely prefer it to the chain deep dish spots around the city. I like it's history, it's service, and general vibe. The bathrooms could be a bit cleaner though I know they're pretty busy. Overall I recommend it if you you're visiting the city and are curious about deep dish. Great location nearby lots of attractions and fun streets to walk around!

I've been a fan of Chicago style pizza for a long time, however I'm particularly fond of the pizza here because of they're buttery crust! It's crispy on the outside and just perfectly cooked throughout. I love this location as it reminds of what an old school pizzeria back in the day might've looked like in downtown Chicago. Dark walls, just below street level with windows laced around the top portion of walls. There is almost always a wait (for good reason!). Yesterday I opted to duck out of the frigid afternoon and get myself a personal deep dish with Italian beef & mushroom....perfect

We came to Pizzeria Uno for real Chicago deep dish pizza after a recommendation from our Uber driver on our way into downtown. We came for lunch and had the individual size pepperoni, and one individual size numero uno, which had pepperoni, sausage, onions and green peppers - yum. We both loved our pizzas. The crust was perfectly flaky, filled with sauce and cheese and goodness. I usually don't like my pizza too saucy, but deep dish with GOOD sauce is an exception - like Pizzeria Uno. They also had a good selection of beers on draft, including a few local ones we got to try. Definitely recommend if you're looking for some real Chicago deep dish! read more

Horrible experience from checking in and all other aspects of the visit. Arrived at 5pm on 3/3/17 and the young lady checking people in had a very hard time multi-tasking. They sat us right next to the bathroom and nothing is more disgusting than hearing someone excrete their waste as you eat. Nell or server was even worse. She took about 10 minutes to come to our table. We ordered salad and drinks. We got 2 of the drinks right away and the other 2 WE HAD to go get them because Nell was on her phone and couldn't be bothered. We got our pizza but one of us ordered pasta and that came 10 minutes after the pizza and it was HORRIBLE. Finally we had to listen to a manager tell one of his seasoned employees that another employee wasn't cutting it and will be terminated that night. HORRIBLE experience. read more

First time having a Chicago Deep Dish! Excellent!!! Sat at the bar, Sergio was such a sweetheart! The pomegranate margarita was great then the pizza took a bit but you could tell it was fresh and made with love. I got the personal individual size Numero Uno with no mushrooms(allergic) they added on green peppers and onions, wasn't in the description but tasted great. Better yet DELICIOUS! Efficient in terms of how they handle the checkin. Pizzas take 45 mins to cook and that is generally the wait for a table, so you get to order when you or your name down. Wait was about 20 mins or the pizza once we got our table. Service is less than average from Steve. My friend ordered sangria and after 20 mins we had to ask. The server barely said anything and brought it about 10 mins later and didn't apologize. read more

Finally got to try the birthplace of deep dish pizza! Really having a slice of history here transported me back to the 40's! The place definitely has that historic feel to it both from the inside and out. Luckily we went at a time where we were immediately seated which was nice. We were going to get one large pie but we decided to get three small pies that way we can try different pies. We got their original specialty pizza, spinach, and BBQ chicken pizzas. It did take almost an hour for our food to arrive but thats understandable because deep dish pizza does take awhile and we ordered three different kinds. But other than that all three were great! I would say their numero uno is the best. I love how it has a bed of sausage and cheese at the bottom yet the crust throughout the pizza was nice and crispy. If you're ever in Chicago this is a must try if you want to have a little slice of history! read more

Joe (Poncho) and Cassie ARE an AWESOME TEAM!! They are welcoming! I'm from Dallas, Texas and was in search of my Favorite pizza!!! First of all this restaurant SMELLS AMAZING even before entering. I was able to easily sit at the bar and order a pizza to go! Easy as pie (play on words). Both Joe and Cassie busted their butts serving drinks NON STOP the whole time I was at the bar waiting for my medium so longed for pizza. They were so conversational with all customers and made SURE EVERYONE was included not neglecting ANYONE, EVEN the mom who came in looking for her son's lost credit card! The crust is way too buttery for me. I also really couldn't taste the cornmeal in the crust, that Uno's is supposedly known for. I enjoyed the flavors of the sauce, quality of veggie toppings, and ratio of crust to sauce to toppings. However, the crust is way way too heavy for me (and I love my carbs!); I ended up eating the toppings and leaving most of the crust behind. I'm not looking for a croissant with my pizza. I'm glad I tried this, but won't be returning. Also waiting an hour for pizza...no thanks. If you are a meat eater, you may enjoy sausage,etc. with this pizza and perhaps it goes better with the crust they serve. But this pizza is not for me. Maybe I just don't like deep dish pizza who knows. read more

Maxwell was a wonderful server!!! First time here (yes shame on me, lived in Chicago my whole life) and it was wonderful! Blows Lou's and Giordanos out of the water. Bbq chicken pizza is to die for. Highly recommend!!!! Updated review- Melissa was a PHENOMENAL server! She made us feel at home and had us laughing the whole time! Will definitely be back to see her. Food ordered: pomodor (penne with marinara sauce) which also comes with house salad and garlic bread Value: four thumbs up, pretty good price for all the stuff u get, but... Flavor: the marinara sauce tasted like it's from a can. Doesn't taste like homemade. The garlic bread has no garlic flavor whatsoever. The salad was okay, nothing to complain nor compliment. Service: server ignores you and doesn't seem welcoming at all Location: very convenient and they closes in midnight. So if you don't mind the food quality, just needed something to eat late night, you might consider this. BUT I won't come back for sure. read more

My wife and I took the pizza making class and ended up being the only two that day. Nel was our instructor and did an AMAZING job. Awesome when you get someone that is passionate about what they do. She gave us lots of fun history about deep dish pizza and UNO's. Would highly recommend this class. After class we were able to buy some already seasoned pizza pans right out of the kitchen and can't wait to get home and make some for the rest of the family. Our first pizzas turned out great in the class. A shout out to Lupe who convinced management to offer this class. Thank you and this was one of the highlights of our visit to Chicago. read more

I started going here over 40 years ago. Moved out of Chicago 35 years ago and had since been back rarely and not in the last 10 years. In town to see an old friend and was fearful to try Uno's because I had tried the sorry excuse Uno's chain restaurants that are a poor copy. Great news! It was as good as I remember. Split a sausage pizza with my son, he raved about it. Brought home two pieces to my wife who ate it a day later. She loved it.(I took her there 30 plus years ago on a trip to visit the area) This is a the place to go for the original Chicago deep dish. I see reviews mixed in here for the chain and different cities. Don't confuse the two, the original is still outstanding. read more

Ordered a so-called deep dish for delivery last night. Egregiously awful! It was inedible! It is a slab of dough buried in a super thick (3/4") layer of (straight out of a can) tomato paste. NO cheese could be found. None. No seasonings. It was supposed to have sausage; we couldn't detect any. Half cooked mushrooms floating on top of this tomato bread slab. Truly disappointing. We had to make eggs for dinner! You can come pick this back up, Uno's--we saved it for you. We are pursuing a complete refund. read more

Now I've been to 3 different famous chicago pizza spots. I had the best service from STEVE at Pizzeria uno compared to any other pizza spots or any other restaurants in the area! Very polite and engaged. Not just to my table but every table. Even though it was busy he was polite and kind to everyone. read more

Why why why why their pizza is so good! Because it's the OG. I had a veggie deep dish pizza, a coffee and a salad. I love all of them! I actually went to Lou the day before but the I liked the salad and pizza at Uno much better. The service is also very nice. I will totally recommend it to anyone who visits Chicago and want to try deep dish pizza. read more

The pizza was delicious. Not greasy. Not hard. Crisp. The tomato sauce was yummy. Fresh. I don't think I can eat deep dish again unless it's Uno. Nothing will compare. Not bready. Simply good. Pizzeria Uno was our first taste of pizza in Chicago. It is always fun to go to original locations. They have a full bar with pretty good cocktails. That's always a plus in my book. We ordered a garlic bread with cheese and small Numero Uno. We were seated in the back by the kitchen where we got a great view of employees eating and their personal belongings all over. That was a bit of a turn off. Besides that service was friendly. Pizza was good. It wasn't my favorite in Chicago but def a solid choice. read more

Deep Dish Pizza I've been debating whether or not to leave a review, given the negative nature. However, I decided to do so as a way to provide valuable feedback that could actually be beneficial. My family have previously dined-in at Pizzeria Uno and enjoyed the deep dish pizzas. I was downtown and decided to stop by for an individual sausage deep dish (7/21/20). I must have caught the establishment at an odd moment because the pizza was a true dud. Crust was tasteless, dry, bland, and overly crumbly; the tomato sauce lacked seasoning and was overly wet; the sausage circle on top seemed undersized and slapped on. Overall, I was really surprised by the absence of quality and flavor. Disappointed...this time. read more

Food came quickly, chicken wings were yummy but we were really looking forward to the deep dish pizza that unfortunately came out looking like a NYC Brooklyn style pizza, it was super floppy and generally pretty standard. When in Chicago one must enjoy it's famous deep dish pizza. But be prepared to wait in a long line if this is the restaurant you choose. We were asked to place our order when we placed our name on the waiting list for a table. And once we got our table, we still rated an hour and 15 minutes for a pizza to arrive! While definitely delicious and served by a friendly waitress, one shouldn't have to wait nearly two hours for their meal. Moral of the story, eat before arriving so you're hungry by the time your pizza gets to your table. read more

We usually go Giordanos pizza because Uno is a chain restaurant.. until our friend invite us to Uno last October. I wasn't in a pizza mood that day but their dip dish pizza really impressed me!! An excellent choice for deep dish pizza in downtown Chicago!! My friend and I were craving some deep dish so we decided to give Uno a try. Both of us have frequented many deep dish pizza joints and this was one of the best. We went at around 12:30pm and the wait is around 15 minutes. We got a table outside because it was really nice outand we wanted to people watch. This turned out to be a not so wise choice since there were so many bees outside trying to get on our food later on. We ordered the buffalo wings and a small size deep dish pizza with two flavors. The buffalo wings were absolutely delicious! I felt like I was in buffalo city, NY. Then I tried the deep dish, where we had a sausage + jalapeño flavor and a pepperoni flavor. They were amazing as well! The crusts and the bottom were relatively thinner, softer, and more buttery compared to other deep dish pizzas around Chicago. We also noticed that it has less cheese. So it's a personal preference really. Anyways we got super full and the bill was around $30 to 35. Definitely a great place to visit in Chicago!! read more

Had dinner before going the Cubs games deciding factor for the World Series bound. We stopped by, my friends were running late, I was still seated and taken care of -the hostess still had patience with me because the wait was about 30 min or so (traffic congestion). I took everyone's order over the phone and told her. I started on my appetizers and drink enjoying the outdoor seating. Finally all arrived and continued on, the food and drinks was delicious. Customer service was excellent, prices reasonable due to it being directly downtown, great ambiance. We got a souvenir glass to remember this experience. This wasn't my first time going to Unos but I brought my friend who was visiting the city from Iowa! Let's say this place was already my favorite pizza place in the city but after our visit I can't believe how amazing this place and their staff was. We had Melissa and she was THE BEST SERVER! She went above and BEYOND. After cracking jokes with her about my friend being from Iowa she made sure to make sure we felt welcomed and honestly like we have known her for years. After the delicious deep dish pizza she heard about my friend wanting to get souvenirs for their family so she came back with a surprise gift on her behalf. I normally order from their sister pizzeria, Due and because the opening times at Uno's are more extensive, I have placed several orders through Ritual, the APP. My orders are always accepted but when I expect to pick up , the restaurant responds that, they cannot fulfill the request. This is a great disappointment as I have to forego my desires and get a faster alternative restaurant and food choice. It is quite frustrating when you are hungry and have limited time. I cannot recommend this Chicago location. read more

I came here on a layover between trains a while back and, it being my only taste of Chicago, I'm sold to the city. The staff, from the boy who sat me at a window seat, to the waiter who recommended the pasta, to the man at the bar were all warm and genuine. I very much enjoyed the music selection, tasteful contemporary tunes along with classics. The pomodoro pasta was sensational, a perfectly done meatless dish; not a lick left on the plate. The atmosphere is memorable. I took a while to walk around and just look at the place- it folds out into further extensions and books and walls of clippings and art. Hooray pizza! Usually I only eat pizza in an oversize shirt and foot jammies, in front of a computer screen, with a sixer of beer, and a pile of trash nearby. I guess Chicago pizza is worth flying out to try, even if I can't schlep around. The Numero Uno pizza is okay. Less saucier than other non-Chicago-but-Chicago-style pizzas I've had, but makes up for that in fillings and a flaky, light crust. A "small" size can feed 3 people. Calamari appetizer includes cute little squid legs and the Caesar Salad is nice. Would I switch out my hobo costume to eat here again? Perhaps. read more

Discovered this little gem after I couldn't eat any more Chicago pizzas, hot dog or beef…read moresandwiches. The place was packed on Tuesday night so make sure to book a reservation. I ordered the item charcuterie and chose coppa, prosciutto, and a French Brie. The meat and cheese were good as expected but that quince spread really took the dish over the top! It was the perfect complement to the fatty meats. Next was the Mushroom dish and while the mushroom purer wasn't a looker, it was a huge umami bomb! Really good pairing with the other mushrooms on the plate. Lastly, I got the milk braised shoulder and it was so tender and flavorful. Good size portion, too! Took leftovers and made a breakfast sandwich the next day and it was still good! I regret not ordering the beef marrow, the table next to me did and I had food envy the whole time but honestly, I had no more room, I was so stuffed! Drinks and service was great, too! Highly recommend you go here if you are in downtown Chicago.

This prompted me to go check out what was on the menu. When I was greeted by someone to order, it seemed like they were a bit impatient or a bit annoyed that I was between two entrees. I understand that businesses get busy, but it is always important to treat everyone with respect! That being said, I ordered the brisket sandwich and it was great! The potato salad as a side was the perfect pair. Portion sizes were great and overall a good experience! I would go again to try some of the other options.

OK so we've been here for about 45 minutes and the pizza is still not here my sister ordered chicken wings I grabbed one just to try because I got hungry wile waiting for over 45 minutes for my pizza, when I took a bite from the chicken I realized that I was eating some kind of a weird flavor that looked like a chicken but taste like mixture of jelly and fat, I think this was the most disgusting chicken wing I have ever ate. I think they forgot to inject chicken in that chunk of antibiotic. It has been one hours now and the pizza still not here.... 65 minuets , pizza is here , I ordered a veggie pizza with chicken , first bite Analysis: The vegetables were randomly thrown over a tomato sauce that 10 years old Kidd can do better, The crust was lame no flavor what so ever and feels like a sponge soaked with oil, the chicken topping I asked for looked more like an expired slices of chicken breast. Although I'm not typically a fan of Chicago-style deep dish pizza's I decided to give Uno's a try. Personally I find that with deep-dish pizzas there's waaaay too much stuff going on. You can't really enjoy a meal without feeling greasy and disgusting afterwards! But before I get too ahead of myself, let's start with the restaurant. The place was very small, but had a nice homely feel to it. Our party ordered mostly salads accompanied by their signature special. We ended up waiting almost 45 minutes for the food, which was explained to us - takes quite a bit longer to bake then traditional pizzas. The salad was ok, nothing special. I was pleasantly surprised when the pizzas arrived. The crust was a bit overbearing, but the actual pizza was very good. I was stuffed from just one piece! There was a lot of sauce which helped lighten the huge amounts of veggies and meat that were piled on. I'm still not a fan of deep dish pizzas, but will probably come back again if I'm ever in the mood! read more

I came in last week with my co-worker to meet for dinner! It was my first time in, and it was a great experience. The hostess, I believe her name was Tearra maybe, greeted us with a smile and was very calm and collected even though the very small waiting room was crowded with people eager to get seated. She took our pizza order early so that it would be ready by the time we sat down. She also offered to charge my phone and let us know we could get drinks at the bar while we waited. Our waiter was also super kind and helpful, and boxed up all the extra pizza in separate boxes to bring home to our significant others. The deep dish pizza itself was of course amazing. Hit up Pizzeria Uno in River North last Saturday with my niece, it felt like I was back in a classic Chicago staple. We ordered a medium deep-dish "Numero Uno" pizza loaded with sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers, plus a side Caesar salad. That deep-dish was everything you want: thick buttery crust, gooey cheese, and chunky tomato sauce, classic since 1943 when Uno created it. The salad was crisp and hit the spot, even though the place felt more chain than cozy. Service was friendly. Overall the food delivered and hit those Chicago pizza feels, but the combo of price and wait time is why it's four stars. read more

My husband and I took a Deep Dish Pizza Class on Saturday and it was so fun! Lupe, the instructor, made it such an enjoyable experience and gave the best tips/tricks to making the best Chicago style deep dish. All the ingredients were fresh and our pizzas tasted great. After learning how to make salad dressing we were able to try it with their house made salad. In addition to being a fun experience we learned a lot about the history of the restaurant. We were able to have a drink of choice and left with a cute handout with all the recipes. We found the class on Groupon! Highly recommend for anyone who loves pizza! read more

Love that they are true to their original. Some restaurants always seem to want to follow the trends. Ordered the four cheese pizza and it was amazing. Love the flavor of the pesto. Quoted 30 minutes for a table and we were sat in about 20. Service was very pleasant. We didn't order any appetizers because we wanted to save room for our pizza. We ordered a medium for two people and ended up taking some back to the hotel. We did order the cookie dessert and it was worth it even though we were beyond full. Definitely recommend coming here. A Chicago tradition for a reason. read more

I tried this place after a really bad experience and I must admit I walked in with a chip on my shoulder. Living in Chicago for about a year now and I have never tried chicago style pizza. Don't understand what all the hype is about. Better pizza than anything in New York, but I guess the hype is what made me hate it the first time. I guess it takes getting used to because the same pizza didn't go well with my taste buds till the second time around. I would def. recommend this place but I here there are better places. I had to give Uno Pizzeria a try, given its reputation as the birthplace of Chicago deep-dish pizza. The pizza itself was rich, hearty, and loaded with toppings--definitely a unique experience. That said, I have mixed feelings. While I can appreciate the history and craft behind it, the heavy style just doesn't match my personal preference. I'm more of a Brooklyn-style fan and will likely stick with that going forward. Still, it's worth trying at least once if you're in Chicago--it's an iconic spot for a reason, even if it's not for everyone. read more

The location isn't bad in River North, but the place has a lot of history (read: older established location/building). I sat downstairs, where it was dark, cramped, and 'intimate' to say the least. The salad was my favorite part. The deep dish pizza was a-ok, but nothing worth recommending to others. I should point out that it took over an hour for the pizza to arrive, hence, the salad, which came up in 5 minutes. My server was also the bartender. He was great - without him, it would have been just a 2-star experience at Pizzaria Uno. read more

I don't understand all the hype. I suppose the restaurant itself is kind of fun to be in once you get past waiting 2 hours to be seated in a cramped area but you can get MUCH better Chicago-style pizza elsewhere. Growing up in the north burbs, I personally think Lou Malnati's is the best but I would take Giordano's and Gino's East over Pizza Uno any day. To be honest, I'd probably take a frozen Jack's pizza over Uno's.. and I'd save quite a bit of money and only have to wait for my oven to preheat. read more

I prefer Lou Malnati's and their delicious butter crust, yummm, but me and my husband decided to try Unos on our night out because we hadn't been. Got here on a busy night apparently because the wait was about 45mins-1hr. So me and my family ordered up front. The hosts were friendly but not really genuine at all, seemed a bit dingy. Couldn't give us any suggestions on what they might have liked or anything. Overall our waiter was nice and made the transition from the door to the table very smooth. read more

Pizzeria uno is a fantastic pizza place. The corn bread crust for the deep dish pizza is amazing. While going dinning in, the host, Hannah, was extremely polite and accommodating for us. Our server, Elise was also very nice and kept both our waters and other drinks full. The pizza was amazing and so was the service. Pizzeria uno is easily one of my favorite pizza places in Chicago. I've never had Chicago style pizza. This was my first time, so I don't know how credible my review will be, but I was not expecting to wait an hour for my pizza (apparently it takes that long to cook). And yes, the crust does taste a bit corn-mealy. But I like the atmosphere and OMG is it good the next day! The tomatoes aren't as acidic and the crust isn't as crumbly. I'd go again. read more

There are so many amazing pizza joints in Chicago and this is no exception. I love the vibe and atmosphere here. You're packed in a little tight, but that makes it more fun. My Friend & I wanted a real Chicago deep dish experience, and this provided it. It was my first time eating real Chicago deep dish so can not compare to anything else, but I thought it was pretty good. The atmosphere here is fun, and very busy, we had to wait 10 minutes to get a table at lunch. The tables in the booths are super tight, but it all added to the fun. read more

This is my favorite deep dish in Chi-town, I've tried all of the notable ones. They claim to be the original deep dish pizza. This pizza is great and the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because deep dish pizza is not my favorite style. I consider it to be an open faced stromboli, but theirs is great! I'm from chicago so i thought I would order pizzas by mail. They were horrible. Pizza stuck to the pan it came with, so I couldn't get it out. Nothing like i remember. This place has gone south big time. Been going here since 1988 and they've changed the pizza. Avoid. Try Lou Malnati's if you are looking for a much better chicago style pan pizza option. The sauce is no longer chunky tomato but a sweet tasting puree that reminded me of superrossa. Will not be going again. read more
