This is my second visit to PJ Piper Pancake House, and it was just as good this time as the last. I decided to try the Authentic German Potato Pancakes Served with Applesauce $12. I ordered them "Supreme" - Stuffed with Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, & Cheddar for an extra $3. And stuffed they were, which made for "big" meal (See Pic). Enough for two people. I really enjoyed the German pancakes. Great unique taste and quite filling. - Five stars for being tasty and unique. The fresh pineapple, on the side, was a nice addition. Excellent, friendly service. $19.50 with coffee and tax. By the time I added the tip, it was an expensive one person breakfast, for sure. I like to support local establishments so I'll be back, however next time, I may stick to the $7 daily breakfast special. read more

We were in Cedarburg at the Wisconsin Quilt Museum and stopped here for an early lunch. I had their Reuben sandwich and an order of fries and my wife had the Cowboy Pancakes. Others in my party had their award-winning chili. My Reuben and the Missus' pancakes were delicious. My fries were a bit soggy and the sandwich bread was a bit greasy but that didn't get in the way of deliciousness. She declared the pancakes great and the portion ample. Those having the chili also gave it a thumbs up. I had their chili during an earlier visit and it was indeed worthy of entree status. The restaurant has a small town vibe and the wait staff was friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu. If you're looking for a place for a good, cheap lunch, brunch or breakfast, look no further. read more

I really enjoyed my breakfast at PJ Piper. I was flying solo while I waited for my son's baseball practice to end so I was able to sit at the bar and there was no wait. If you're with others, you may have to wait a bit because it's a popular spot. I had a veggie hash sans egg, and it was very good. I added a plant-based sausage which, unfortunately, was overcooked. The rest of my meal was just right. The cornbread is interesting - it's fried and it has a rich, sweet taste. I liked it, but it could be a meal to itself. The staff was friendly and efficient. So are waiter did not come check on us until we were ready to leave, so when we needed something we had to ask other waitress to get us what we needed. Decor and ambience nice. What a great breakfast restaurant in the heart of downtown Cedarburg. The place is generally quite busy and there can be a bit of a wait at times, but once you're in the service is spot on. There are a few counter seats that are first come first serve, so if it's just you perhaps check the counter to try to avoid the wait. Excellent breakfast with many quality options to choose from. PJ Pipers just has that breakfast diner feel about it. Good portion sizes and reasonable prices. I don't believe I've ever left hungry or dissatisfied with a thing. Everything was not perfect about our meal.... But the way the friendly staff handled our issue was Top Notch! Stoped in on a busy Sunday during lunch and the place was packed. Had to wait a few minutes, but not that crazy. Our waitress took our drink orders and quickly returned to get out food choices. I was about to order a burger, but saw an amazing skillet come out to the table next to me, so I made a last minute pivot! It was great, loved the sourdough toast! My wife ordered the crepes with Nutella and bananas. Unfortunately, her meal came out a bit overdone. When the waitress stopped by to check on her meal, my wife shared that her crepes were a bit burnt. The waitress took the meal with not questions asked, and the manager returned with some new ones! Not only with new a meal, but they took $4 off the tab. I explained that my wife got her meal, and that was not necessary, but she commented that "we want you to come back, and we want you to be happy with everything". Awesome response! For a restaurant located in a touristy area, that was amazing customer service. Everyone was friendly,, right down to people busing tables. Great fast and friendly service. We went 3 weeks in a row and had consistently good inexpensive breakfasts off the early bird menu. Their sausage patties are the pick you want. My friend has been here a few times and had been raving about how good the pancakes were, so we set up a breakfast date. Unfortunately she cancelled on me but I had been looking at the menu and knew I had to go either way. I was seated by myself and ordered the works skillet with the fresh apple pancakes. The skillet was probably the best I've ever had and the pancakes were even more delicious. I could eat them without the apple sauce type of stuff they give you to eat on top. I didn't need regular maple syrup either. I went during a week day and was able to get in and out quickly. I will definitely be back for the fresh apple pancakes and may force myself to try one of the other delicious pancake or waffle flavors. read more

It was crowded and there was a very short wait for a table. Waitress was super nice and efficient. She was also friendly. We ordered paninis and soup or salad. Panini I had (cubano) was the best I have ever had. Not just because it tasted good, but it was toasted perfectly, still warm and had the correct balance of cheese, meat and pickles. I had chicken dumpling soup which was A+ and companion had French fried sweet potatoes. They were delicious. Fried perfectly and still warm and fresh. I have been here a couple of times for breakfast but this was the first time for lunch and will definitely return. One more thing: the restaurant originally was a house, so the decor is homey and interesting. Highly recommended. read more

Place is much bigger inside than it looks from the street! It's on a quaint little street . Parking on the street and behind the restaurant. The food was reasonably priced with huge portions! I got the San Pedro skillet! Has taco meat , veggies, eggs and hash browns. Delicious :) My husband got the big sky breakfast . He loved the wheat toast . Soft and just lightly buttered. We came back, looking forward to delicious pancakes because we'd had such a great experience during our last visit. This visit was nothing but sadness and disappointment. Maybe we should have come just as they opened, while the cooks weren't slammed. We went closer to 1130am and waited a bit (30mins) to get seated. They did have a nice system where they texted you once the table was ready. The food was disappointing. We actually ended up ordering pretty much exactly the same thing we ordered last time, but the primary difference? Nothing tasted good. The stuffed potato pancakes weren't seasoned while being cooked, were soggily oily, and was bad enough that we only ate half of it. The pineapple upside down pancake was bizarre - we don't understand how it could taste bland and without any pineapple flavor or even caramelized sugar. The pineapple bits were smashed in the middle and were flavorless. How can canned pineapple have no flavor? It wasn't even sweet! Anyway, we didn't eat everything - we ended up going out to lunch later on to get some real food. I guess my advice is to go early when the cooks aren't slammed and just churning out food in order to keep up. read more

This place is amazing. When you walk in, you are greeted immediately with a smile. The dining room is cozy without being cramped. The coffee was hot and wonderful. I had the soup of the day, Chicken and dumpling, perfect for a chilly fall day, and their special, Chilaquiles, pulled pork, tortilla chips, fresh salsa, and three eggs over easy. Even though I wasn't this time, it is a perfect hangover breakfast, yet light enough to not overfill you on a Tuesday morning. Eggs were cooked perfectly, pork was tender and juicy, salsa was fresh and just the right amount of flavor to cut through the richness of the rest of the dish. Service was quick without being rushed, and I felt welcome at every step. This was a recommendation from my wife and it was well received. They were full, but it didn't feel stressed at all. I took a friend to Cedarburg looking for a good, inexpensive meal. We wanted good service and comfy food not fru fru fancy over priced pretentious nonsense. Neither of us had eaten at PJ Piper but we'd both heard nothing but good things about the restaurant so we decided today was our day to check it out. First, there was a 15 minute wait but the hostess made it very pleasant and worth our while by showing genuine interest in accommodating our needs. She immediately asked if I would need special accommodations because of my service dog.. I was blown away by that simple courtesy! Most merchants treat me with disdain and make me fight for the right to spend my money in their establishments. I was immediately made to feel welcome and appreciated as a customer for choosing their business. Nobody challenged my right to be there because of my need for the clearly identified service dog. That almost made me cry. I very much appreciated being treated with so much dignity. Once seated, our server was kind , friendly, and informative. She knew the menu and was able to make suggestions to "the rookie diners" based on her preferences, our strange dietary needs, and her familiarity with the menu options. It made making choices and asking for reasonable accommodations easy. Our food arrived and the portions were a great value for the price. Neither of us could finish our orders! You will definitely get your money's worth. I ordered an omelette. I'm not sure what kind of magic the cook uses but my spinach and Feta NEVER taste that good with eggs! It was scrumptious!!! I never got around to eating all the fruit or cottage cheese. I didn't even order toast or pancakes. Thank Goodness! My friend ordered the apple pancakes. I'm not sure she liked them because she never said a single word to me the whole time she was devouring them! LOL She never even got around to eating the bacon -- which the dog happily ate on the way home in the car. He seemed pretty happy about that. So, I'm going to have to say WE were ALL impressed! First, I would love to praise our server, Carol. She was very attentive and such a sweetheart! We ordered the maple irish coffee and it was so good with just the right amount of sweetness. Gyro meat was cooked perfectly, scrambled eggs were fluffy, and pancakes were the traditional old fashioned style- everything was very good. Country style eggs benedict was very good as well, just wish the sausage in the gravy had a little more flavor- but overall very impressed with the food and portion sizes for the price!! I stopped here for a late breakfast, right around 11 a.m. on a Tuesday. The service (Yoshi?) was excellent. The iced tea was good. The French toast was fine but, gee, you don't need to put powdered sugar on it. I get syrup - isn't that enough? The sugar made it incredibly sweet, but it was cooked appropriately and had the right balance of moisture and doneness. The bacon was very crispy - one slice quite overdone, but OK. I was asked if the bacon was too cooked (it was, and gee, who brings overcooked food to the table and asks that question?) but I said no because I didn't want to wait. The hash browns were also WAY overcooked. They should be quickly cooked on one side, and then flipped to the other, so that the insides are soft. I think someone broke them up on the griddle and therefore they got way way way too cooked. Overall, a good experience, but their cooking techniques (and evaluation of what makes something acceptable to a client) need work. read more

Drove up to cedarburg for a Sunday brunch and found this lovely place. The chorizo Benedict and Greek skillet were so delicious. The Benedict was prepared with two chorizo patties on a slightly sweet cornbread and covered with flavorful sauces and Benny eggs! Such a sweet and savory dish! The Greek skillet was also great (I chose scrambled eggs) which went pretty well with the sauce. The service was also great, nice environment. We will definitely come back again! read more
