We come here every year to celebrate three birthdays. Staff is very friendly, attentive and helpful. Very unique and delicious Chinese dishes. Very large sushi menu to order from. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I went here with the wife and her sister after a 5.5 mile hike. I was impressed. The mapo tofu was good and the sushi tasted fresh. I had the dynamite roll, California roll and hotate nigiri. All good.

Love this place, this is now our favorite Chinese place the food was Amazing and our server was great

So happy to finally be able to try this place ! Very cute inside and we were seated immediately. The server was lovely and attentive. We tried the crab Rangoon chopsticks as an appetizer, they were pretty good. The star of the show was the lo mein- tons of wok hei and so delicious! One of the best lo meins we have had. Also tried the angel roll and it was huge and delicious! Fresh sushi and well made. Presentation was great for everything. Definitely will be back.

We finally get our waitress and we get a couple physical menus. It's pretty dark upstairs. They also have menus online. We joked that the waitress had to take the only elevator up and down to bring drinks and food and that's why she disappeared for long periods of time. Haha. We get our drinks about 40 minutes in. After an hour since arriving, we get our 3 appetizers. The Ahi nachos were absolutely amazing. The Asian lettuce wraps lacked chicken for the overall size of the appetizer. It wasn't enough for 4 people, let alone 6. One of our friends ordered the steak and scallops. Both came out burnt on the outside and were sent back. I'm not sure why someone orders steak at a sushi restaurant but oh well. By the time the fixed dish came out the rest of us were 75% done eating. Somewhat awkward. They did comp us on the steak. The sushi did taste good. I had 2 signature rolls which was plenty. My wife had two regular rolls. We walked out of there 2.5 hours from the time we arrived. Downstairs was 90% empty at that time. It's a different ambience and world between upstairs and downstairs.

Even if we don't consider its rarity, Da Local Boy is a winner in every category. The prices are very fair for the enormous portion sizes, the decor is fun and appropriate, the service is friendly, and food is phenomenal both in flavors and textures. The only possible criticisms are that the space is a bit small for how popular this spot gets, and the parking in the area can be a bit limited around popular meal times. The food here shines, making it worth a special trip -- both again for the rarity but also the quality. For me, the poke nachos are a must order item, just the perfect mix of large chunks of tuna with super crispy wontons, fresh avocado, and a good helping of sauce. Amongst friends, we've agreed that this is a must order item. The huli huli chicken is also unreal in flavor and texture. Besides being marinated and sauced well, the chicken is melt in your mouth tender while simultaneously having a delicious crisp skin. Think brick chicken, but with more flavor and a much better price. The rice and macaroni salad that accompany this are also well done -- and feel more like a core part of the meal rather than an afterthought. The grilled pork is pretty good as well, though I kind of wish it wasn't sliced as thin, as certain pieces felt a bit dry. The spam musubi with a light touch of furikake also provided a flavorful, fun dish to accompany the other delicious items I tried. Overall, delicious and consistently surprises me with the quality of the execution and bold flavor combinations. This is on my top places to visit in the area and has never disappointed.

The vibe is also awesome with a great reggae playlist and welcoming staff. Literally every single bite was so good but my favorites had to be the short ribs, chicken katsu, and poke. These mac salad was a little sweet but it definitely worked well especially with the heavier mains of the plate. Poke was really fresh btw and def had my eye on the poke nachos so gotta go back! Def a must try for anyone craving real Hawaiian food in Chicago!

Make no doubt about it the food is great. 4 star great. How did they ever turn this into a 1 star…read morereview? We were not regulars. It is a noisy place full of older customers that know everyone in the place. Lots of customers hugging the staff, talking with the owners, and other tables. A great atmosphere if you are a local. One of the owners even suggested carrot cake for our desert. Really good by the way. We did see a number of regulars tables that were receiving complimentary appetizers. I get it, but you should treat first time customers the same to make them repeat customers? The issue was with service and how we were treated after we had to get service. Our server disappeared once our main course was ordered. Yes the place was packed, but the server made sure she kept on touching base with the regulars tables and we received less attention. Well like no attention. Well like we had to go to the bar to one of the owners to get our check. Well and when my significant other tried to comment that we had a lack in service the owner walked away from us. She turned a really nice first time experience into a never going back and write a bad review experience. (And my significant other was mad the whole evening, which made the event worse for me.) So even though I wanted to at least give them a 2 star review I had to tie it back to the tip we gave of $1. Regretfully we will not be going back to The Green Room.

I typically can always count on Green Room serving up great food and drinks, however my last visit…read morewas a bit of a disappointment. I ordered the Pad Thai with tofu, the staple menu item I order each time I visit. My guest ordered the Mongolian beef. My pad Thai came out visibly different than times past. It looks almost watered down and the tofu was not coated and seared with the beautiful crust it normally has. I ate it and it tasted... sour. Normally this pad Thai leans savory over sweet, but this time it just straight up tasted sour. The tofu was nothing to write home about, which is typically not the experience I have here. The Mongolian beef tasted like it had more sear on the meat than actual beef. It tasted over-charred. The rice and veggies were good, but that's kind of a simple feat. I ordered the Pomegrantate martini which was good. The space was also very hot, I understand it's a hot day and a busy restaurant but my legs were dripping in sweat the entire hour we were there. I will give them a try again, because I know from previous experiences the pad Thai was usually great. That tofu is what I keep coming back for! Hopefully next time it'll meet my expectations. This was this past weekend on Friday night.

Love the decor, but it can get busy and a little noisy. Servers are nice, but at times get a little lost, as you might sit for a bit when you need something. Room for improvement. Occasionally sticky tables or wet chairs. Been twice where we needed things rewiped. Room for improvement. Food is always good and very fresh. Depending on what you order, can be a little higher priced, but still fair. Good value, Reservations are through Rezy and they have ePerks if you signup through their web store ($10 signup bonus + birthday rewards). May take a few days for email to arrive after processing. Absolutely one of our favorite places. This trip, ordered Spider and Rainbow Rolls, with my wife ordering Kung Pao Chicken Noodles. We went for Happy Hour and were seated at the bar because all of the tables were apparently reserved. We were greeted by Adam who was the only server in the bar. For Happy Hour they have a few drink specials and all Small Plates are half off. We asked about GF options and he was not too helpful but we made it work. My wife started with a Ginger Pina Martini with grilled pineapple infused vodka. She loved it ,I thought it was too sour. I tried their Toshi Old Fashion with Iwai 45 which is a Japanese blended whiskey. Very good. For our small plates we had Spicey Tuna Crispy Rice,Chicken Lettuce Wraps,BBQ Lollipops and a Philadelphia Roll. Hands down our favorite were the BBQ lollipops..sliced New York strip wrapped around lemongrass with a delicious sauce. On Tuesdays they offer half price rolls which makes us want to go back as some of their signature rolls sounded amazing. Plenty of parking is available and reservations are suggested..even for Happy Hour.
