I never check but something inside told me and I listened. I went back in. When I got home I got everything I ordered. Flavor wise everything was good. I have watched a lot of master chef mind you. I know about flavorrrr. In terms of the wonton soup I wish the wonton wrap was thinner. The soup and wontons themselves had good chicken broth flavor and I think inside the wontons was pork, very yummy. Shrimp egg rolls were good but I wish I was given sweet and sour sauce and soy sauce like when you go to any other Chinese place. I understand prices are crazy for inventory but giving soy sauce and sweet and sour should be formality and the brand new customer shouldn't be surprised when they get home. Charge an additional dollar per order to give that or something if cost is the problem. RED FLAG! Combination pan fried noodles was a good flavor also. The noodles resemble the crunchy ones in the bag just thinner and they give you more noodles. Yummy, maybe I'll try lo mein next time. I expect soy sauce and sweet & sour to be included plssss. She tells us they won't do AYCE because their sushi bar is short staffed. It's an empty restaurant. We ask if we can order sushi in general, and that's apparently okay for us to pay full à la carte pricing for the same short staffed sushi bar. We'd already been served drinks... we had to pay $17 for 5 fountain drinks to be told they didn't have what we came for. We ended up leaving and going to a different restaurant. This all could've been solved if they'd just put a sign on the door, or told us when seating us that they weren't doing all you can eat for the night. It was especially annoying that I raved to 3 of the 4 others in our party how good the food was and they drove the longest distances to be there just for this to happen and we ended up driving to the other restaurant back closer to where they all live. The food may have been good on previous visits but the service tonight was not customer friendly at all and I finally understand why despite how good their food is the place has been nearly empty every time I've gone there.

Really disappointing to see the dip in quality here; my family and I have been coming here ever since it opened and we've been living in this area enough to peruse all the Asian restaurants around here. Pl8 used to be one of the best and idk if COVID got them down, but the taste quality has suffered tremendously in recent memory. Some of my go-to's that have gone downhill: Seven Flavor Chicken - a sort orange chicken variant, but with more heat and less sourness that you see in some orange chickens that put too much of the fruit's rind in the dish. My absolute favorite...or at least, before it became over-breaded, dehydrated fried chicken as of late. Also noticeably less-densely packed in the container, so I'm paying the same for less. Honestly - and with all due respect - Panda Express's orange chicken is now better on average. Black Peppered Garlic Beef - self-explanatory dish, but exemplary of one of the principal bad habits Pl8 has gotten into of adding waaaaayyy too much garlic to a dish (Crunchy Garlic Shrimp and Buddha's Vegetables suffer the same grim fate). Also very strange breading on the beef that makes the beef pieces have a really unsatisfying crispiness on the exterior that gives way to a kind of mealy internal texture that is, frankly, one of the most repulsive texture-based eating experiences I've ever had. Basil Garlic Chicken - this one is still actually pretty good and has a nice, complex profile of spiciness which I love. Maybe there's just a bad cook in there sometimes, though, cause on occasion it'll wind up a watery, bland mess. Calamari - they made a pretty substantial change within the last couple months to make this more like calamari you'd find in many places, even non-Asian ones. Pl8 used to have a unique way of doing it that would (I think) stretch out the squid pieces to a thin and even line that formed a ring that kinda looked like a miniature onion ring. It sounds weird, but I assure you it was actually divine - the best calamari I think I've ever had. Now it's just...typical, with the tendrils and suction cups mashed about in a pile of breaded bits. Still taste good, but was sad to see the exceptional variation that Pl8 made be reduced to something typical. You might be surprised to hear me say that all this wouldn't necessarily be a death knell. But it's true; however, that's notwithstanding the fact that Pl8 is slightly more expensive than most of its competitors. All that being said, there really isn't much reason to go here. Naomi Sushi off of Main and 59 (near the Jewel) and Yummy Asian Bistro off of 14 and 22 in the opposite direction are better and cheaper alternatives. read more

I'm not going to keep this place a lunch secret anymore. Great late lunch hours till 3:30. Very private with a lot of seating options, booths, tables, bar and partitioned private areas. I'm a big fan of their delicious whitefish glass noodle soup with pickled veggies & chilis. Has always been the perfect complex mix of the fish, pickled veggies & light roasted sesame oil and not too salty which happens other places a lot. My second choice is always the Tuna Tataki salad, fresh & crisp & the seared black pepper tuna is always perfect. Love the soy garlic dressing. A much quieter & darker red vibe than Shakou. I like it. Many other choices & appetizers, all good. More expensive than your $10 Schaumburg lunch & doesn't include tea, but worth it. Service has always been very helpful & attentive but this isn't fast food. I see service complaints here that I haven't experienced. If you are expecting these people to be running, you're in the wrong place. Very casual relaxing vibe that I seek out on some days. Cool little bar too. Almost feels like a private club. I love this restaurant. Though I've only been there a handful of times, each experience gets better and better. The food was great. I ordered the firecracker shrimp and potstickers as an app and the chong ching soup as a main course. It did not disappoint! The service was pretty good. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The servers assisted me a lot by explaining many of the dishes in further detail because personally, i don't think they are specified enough on the menu. The hostesses worked pretty well with a rude customer in front of me in line and i was greeted as i walked in and as i left. I HIGHLY recommend trying out this place! read more

Between the Chong Ching Noodle Soup, spicy chili fish, traditional shredded pork and chinese chives you can not go wrong! It is only a couple week old and is going GREAT for a new restaurant!!!! Just the right amount of crispy, spicy and delicious! The special: Brussel Sprouts with pork belly was one of the best ways to eat Brussel Sprouts that I've experienced. We had one of the special deserts (Chocolate Molten Cake) and it was to die for. This is not your typical Chinese restaraunt so if you're looking for free egg rolls and soup your not going to find it here. More of a downtown feel restaraunt with unique tastes and flavors.
