A great carry out for Chinese food on the area. The portions are massive and can last you for days!!! Yes, days with an S. Ordering online or over the phone is very easy. They're always done on time and the food is piping hot by the time you get home. Some of my favs are the Beef with Broccoli, Mongolian Beef/Chicken, and Beef Kow. All of the entrees come with white rice but I always enjoy a side of Crab Rangoon. They are also nicely stuffed! The service is friendly and it's a spacious take out location. We ordered take out for a family gathering. We ordered a Large BBQ Pork Fried Rice, Beef Cantonese Chow Mein (with extra pan-friend noodles), Orange Chicken (no spicy), Szechuan String Bean, and Teriyaki Chicken Stick. I really appreciated that the containers were filled to the brim-- in fact, the flaps of the BBQ Pork Fried Rice container were stapled together but barely being held together with rice busting through! Needless to say we were happy with the large portions given. The Teriyaki chicken stick looked crispy and well seasoned, but was disappointing how dry and hard to swallow it was. The BBQ pork fried rice was a family favorite with no leftovers and was the first to be completely devoured. The second favorite was the Beef Canto Noodles. When first served, the noodles were crispy but got soggy real quick bc of the gravy from the beef & veggie that was poured and mixed into the pan fried noodles. The service was good. I really appreciated how our order was packed. Everything was neatly placed into a box or tied tightly in a plastic carryout bag. It made it easy to transport and bring home without any spills and kept warm. This place is great for delivery/take out. The restaurant was small, with walls lined with metals shelves filled with cases of soda. Also a small section of bamboo plants for sale. definitely a simple, quick, place to pick up food for large groups. It was good value for the price. read more

Could be this isn't an appropriate name, because it's not light on flavor. Hong Kong Lite isn't light on calories or fat either, lol. It's apparently one of the best places in Palatine for Chinese food though. A lot of things are similar to typical Americanized Chinese. There's the counter with the pictures on the wall. Basic looking Chinese American restaurant to be honest. It's located in a strip mall. The food it turns out is better than it looks considering all of this. It's about $9 for an entree. The prices are cheaper at lunch. Got us some of the vegetarian items. The Bean Curd With Vegetables is made with the fried tofu. It's firmer tofu, but not spicy, actually mild . The Szechuan Bean Curd actually has the firmer tofu than the soft often used for this item in other Chinese restaurants, but this one is spicy though. Basic Chinese American type of food. It's not authentic to be sure, but you get a lot for the price. There's a good variety of items with meat, and ones that are okay for vegans and vegetarians. read more

I first got food from here as for work, and the lunch specials were delicious! My family and I came back on Christmas Eve, the food was just as good and the staff were just as nice (even though they were super busy!) I love the egg rolls! They have a delicious peanut flavor, and I can't get enough of it! We also ordered the teriyaki beef skewers, which were absolutely delicious and came with an even more delicious sauce! I loved the crab rangoon as well. At work, we got shrimp with pea pods, orange chicken, and Mongolian beef - we all loved our foods! I can't wait to eat here more often, and I'm shocked that I haven't eaten here sooner. I attached a picture of the lunch special. This is a little gem - love the way the kitchen cooks classic American Chinese and Cantonese dishes. The portions are good (tho fried rice was smaller than I anticipated). I hadn't been to this place in a hot minute, but decided to grab something from here for pickup because I was craving Chinese food & this is the closest one to me. I ordered online from their website & it took about 25 minutes for my whole order to be ready in the middle of their busy dinner rush. Although located in a strip mall in-between Yu's Spa & a Cricket Wireless, in my opinion this is the best Chinese food in Palatine. I know most people go gaga for Heng Wing around here, but seriously, this place is da bomb diggity. Even though there's no dine-in option available here (pickup or delivery only), this place is my favorite simply because of how huge their portions are for each dish. Last time I ordered from here I got an order of Jumbo Shrimp Fried Rice, Large Salt & Pepper Jumbo Shrimp, Mongolian Beef, Orange Chicken, & General Tso's Chicken. My usual faves. I forgot how big each item we ordered from here was & even though I made this order for 6 of us there was probably enough food for 12-18 people depending on how much you eat just from that order alone! Even the small size order of the Jumbo Shrimp Fried Rice could probably serve 2-4 people as a meal in itself! Anyway, I like this place a lot and feel like I get the most value for my money with all the food you can get here. We had leftovers for days! So even if the prices seem a little high for each item (they also come with a container of rice for each entree order that's not a noodle dish) remember that it's good for around 2-4 people for each item you order. I like a lot of the food here even if I have to use soy sauce for some of their dishes, but that's just my personal preference. None of the dishes are super oily & definitely NO MSG in any dish that I could taste so that's good. For overall value, flavor, & size of dishes this place deserves 5 stars. I was leaning towards 4 stars because it's not anything outstanding or spectacular, but for the price of everything, that pushed my review to 5 stars. Blame the nostalgia as I've been going to this place since I was in High School, but for my money & for something local for Chinese food in Palatine, go here. When we moved to the suburbs, I was afraid we would never find an amazing Chinese place- Our search ended pretty early when we tried Hong Kong Lite. I'd like to say I'm well versed in Orange chicken- as in home girl has tried way too many varieties of orange chicken- and this is the perfect recipe. It's not too sweet, and also not spicy! The egg rolls are hands down the BEST egg rolls that I've ever had. The portions are also enormous- so you're really getting an amazing value. I can get 2+ meals out of the orange chicken. We found that ordering pick up on their website is the best way to order. When we go to pick up, it's always ready and super hot & fresh. Overall, this place is our go to, even with an abundance in our own suburb (shhh.. don't tell Lake Zurich we're cheating on them). It's well worth the short travel time to eat here. read more

Much better than the two Asian places i have tried since coming back home to IL, however, the rice was very dry. It was swimming in gravy but was hard and dry as if they precook it for a week and keep it just for reheating. There is no way this rice was freshly cooked, it was exactly like when I cook a pot of rice at home and forget abt it for a week and reheat it for lunch. That goes for the chicken fried rice as well. The eggfuyung was delicious and so was the gravy, seasoned perfectly for soy sauce to be added, but the dry, hard, precooked, old rice ruined both dishes for me. Too bad. I thought I found a favorite place for Asian food, I can only suppose this is their regular practice, so for a small egg fu young and a small chicken fried rice that were made with old rice, for $19, no thanks. I wasnt disappointed with the portions either, but I want fresh food, not week old when I am paying these prices. Thank you P.S. They say the business owners can not buy their votes on yelp, but any review 3 stars and under are under the "Not Recommended" review section. I give places a fair chance, i tell them when its my first time at their establishment, but if they dont care to impress their new customers, they won't t care about impressing their loyal customers. People should know the truth abt what to expect, before waisting even $20 on 2 small dishes. This was great quality Chinese food. Meats did not taste as of second rate cuts and flavor on everything was quality w/o tasting like everything was in the same sauce. Portions are large but you are paying a good $ for an entree. Only criticism is if they say spicy they mean it and that is fine for me just not for my kids. Next time orange chicken will be ordered not spicy. My fault not theirs. Great find and will be back. Happy first time customer. read more

Hong Kong Lite has made me a fan! I placed an order for pickup, showed up 10 minutes later and it was ready. Wham, bam, thank ya ma'am. They were friendly and already off to a great start in my book. Their lunch specials are well priced at $5.50-$7 each. I love the lunch specials here because they come in a nice plastic divided container which is way better than the normal styrofoam lunch special containers from Chinese places - see my pictures! The lunch special comes with an eggroll & a can of pop which makes the deal even sweeter. I've tried the Sesame Chicken lunch special and the Orange Chicken lunch special. Both dishes are fresh, crisp and above average in taste. I thoroughly enjoy both dishes! Both the sesame chicken & orange chicken specials are just $6.25 each, woohoo! Great deal! Lately a lot of Chinese places I grew up and loved have been closing. Finding a new one is like playing roulette. I'm lucky to come across this place. We were in the shopping center and zoomed in the map to see what was around. Figured we'd give it a shot. Got a couple of things to try. I am always on the lookout for a good Mongolian beef. Mongolian Beef Beef is very tender, and i loved it. I asked for it extra spicy, and they came through. This place is 5 stars just based on this dish. I will get it every time. Singapore Noodles Not the best version I had. This was a little lighter in flavor than I am used to but it tasted very fresh. Not bad at all and hit that craving. Potstickers These things were huge and packed with meat. So good. Portion size on everything we got was ridiculous. Way too much food. They are very generous with their portion sizes. What I thought was enough for one meal was enough for 2+. The cashier was so nice. She seemed very happy. A gentleman came out and gave my kid some mochi candy while we waited. They were very busy while there and a guy I talked to there was raving about their food. I look forward to trying new dishes soon. This place is a gem and my new go to spot. read more

We haven't ordered much Chinese food since our go-to place (Fortune Cookie) burned down a few years ago. But we were in the mood for it tonight, so we decided to try this place. We ordered the appetizer platter for two, broccoli and beef, chicken almond ding, and chicken lo mein. The app platter included spare ribs, crab Rangoon, was supposed to have shrimp, but that was missing, and some kind of pork thing, also beef on a stick. The crab Rangoon was obviously cooked earlier because it wasn't crispy anymore, although the creamy crab filling was good. Didn't like the pork rib or the other pork pieces. They tasted old. The beef thing on a stick was super tough and dry as well. The beef with broccoli was probably the best thing... at least it had some flavor. The other dishes had absolutely no flavor. Bland, bland, bland!!! What a waste of money this place was. Will never order from here again. I miss Fortune Cookie! read more

We ordered delivery and the food was delivered hot and fresh within the times specified. The food was good and the portion sizes were good. My only quibble (about the ordering experience) was that there was no option to change anything...For example: Fried rice vs white rice. No problems at all with the food. Rudest delivery staff member I've ever encountered. This store uses their own staff to deliver, even when ordering from a 3rd party app like grubhub or DoorDash. Driver arrived at my home, very clearly marked with the address, but does not get out of the vehicle. He then proceeds to call me over and over again while sitting in the driveway (instructions were to leave it at the door), he continues to call for about 5 minutes, not even stepping foot out of the car. I finally step out of the house, he rudely gets out of the car, asks my name to verify the order and said there's no address posted on the house. I said "yes it's right there if you had gotten out it's very easy to see". He then demands the total, I said "'no I paid online". He's like "well it doesn't show me so I've got to call management". He then calls as he gets back in the car after handing over the food. I stand waiting for the all clear, as I'm an honest genuine person. I gave a thumps up to confirm all clear as He finishes his call and he just rudely backs out of the driveway glaring at me. Who knows what his deal was but his attitude, laziness to properly deliver then give me death stares as he left made me never want to order from here again. Very poor service and rude delivery. Ordered pea pods and rice. Got home and there were shrimp with the rice and pea pods. We don't eat fish. Another order, pea pods with rice. This time we didn't get shrimp but were given old reused reheated pea pods that were so old that they had no form, they were all one big SLIMY BLOB. Worst place in Palatine.
