The burgers and fries here are pretty good and I'm mostly giving the 3 stars for the value. We did two burgers, a side of regular fries, and a side of sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were awesome but the rest was mostly in line with what we expected. The bottom line is that 2 burgers, 2 sides of fries, 1 beer, and 1 iced tea was $38 and that was a bit much. I'd probably go again if it was a work dinner (where work was footing the bill) because the food is pretty safe, customizable, and the interior is pretty nice. Plan B is as good as it gets for a burger joint around my area. There's 5 Guys, Prime 16, and a bunch of others. Plan B always has the best customer service and rarely ever disappoints. I've only had one bad experience there and it was just with a cranky waitress who had to manage the bar as well (understandably not fun for anyone). The burgers always come perfectly cooked and if they don't come as the standard "pink" you're notified well in advance. For example the four cheese burger is cooked without any "pink" in the burger but it still comes out juicy and delightful. The desserts are also out of this world good. Checked in this afternoon for lunch around 2. The place is so funky and cool and totally bumping. Took only 10 minutes for us to get seated, but that was the amount of time it took to read all the fun and funky beers they offer! We ordered the tavern burger and the chicken sandwich. They were both very flavorful and delicious. The parmesan fries were awesome! Did not choose a beer, instead just some water so not to get too full. Here's where it gets only 4 stars... There were so many babies crying and screaming, that we wished the parents had chosen plan b* before having children. So loud and intrusive, not a place for kids if you ask me. I work all week. The one thing I want to do at the end of the work week is reward myself. I want to treat myself to dinner. I think I am ultimately looking for is to sit at the bar, order a well done burger, have a beer and a shot, and have intelligent conversation with the patrons next to me. I can honestly say that Plan B in Milford, Connecticut delivered on this Thursday July 3, 2014. The bar was busy but I was able to get a seat. I was able to get a beer in a timely manner. They don't have my favorite beer Guinness there but the server recommended a Harpoon dark beer. I can't remember the name but it was good. I was pleased. I ordered the Baja burger which is listed as "Fresh Avocado, Jalapeños, Tomato, Jack Cheese, Lettuce & Chipotle Spread". The server recommended putting the chipotle spread separately as it and the jalapenos would be overpowering. I said okay and just asked for my burger to be cooked well done. I want it to be a hockey puck. I don't want to see any red. I had two different intelligent conversations while I was there. I was talking to a guy who was like me in liking Guinness and well-cooked burgers. I was later talking to a young woman who has celiac disease. She was telling me the reason she was there was the fact that Plan B has an excellent gluten free menu. Her boyfriend Brian works at the Prime 16 in Orange and it is on my list of places to check out. She also recommended I check out Joey C's Roadhouse. According to my receipt the server's name was "Laurie C". On my check the words "well done" was in bold print. My burger was well done and I was extremely satisfied with it. The french fries were good. They weren't anything to brag about but I did enjoy dipping them in the chipotle spread. Server Laurie C did an excellent job in taking care of me in a timely manner. She was busy and I was impressed. I was not stuffed from my meal. Plan B is a chain and being there reminded me of being in a TGIF's, Chili's and AppleBees. Cool feature. My fiance and I came here for the first time about 3 weeks ago. Our server was friendly and extremely knowledgeable and taught us all about bourbon and the menu items. Made some great recommendations for us. Burgers were decadent...the one I had with mushrooms was personally phenomenal. Not for those on a diet, but so worth it. Atmosphere: very cool bar/restaurant with a bar area and a dining area in the back. A little loud depending on how close to the bar you are but very ascetically pleasing. Food: Last time I visited I got the burger of the week and was blown away, honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had. I've also had some of the burgers off their menu and was not disappointed. The rolls are a little to big for the burgers which is surprising because the burgers are huge. The lobster is very fresh and make for a great lobster roll. Presentation: the plates come out and they look great but in reality most of the presentation is to cover up them giving you a smaller portion. Everything is very dressed up and it distracts you from home much good your actually receiving. Overall: in conclusion I would definitely return here and would continue to for a while. I had lunch here today with my friend and it was delightful. Great ambience and good food. I had the lobster sliders appetizer which was nice because it came with fries and was the perfect amount of food for me. I wish they had given me a side of melted butter with it (I didn't ask for one- I'm sure they would have given it to me if I had, but I was so hungry and didn't want to wait). There was a good amount of lobster meat in the 3 sliders- all claw and knuckle meat- my fave! At $15.95 its pretty pricey but hey, its lobster. This place is great for my friend because she has severe gluten and lactose allergies and Plan B has a whole special gluten free menu. Just ask your server for it. I always love going here cause they have gluten free options. I love their gluten free chicken tenders as I can never really get them anywhere else. My boyfriend had the western burger with "some pink". Interestingly enough the burger wasn't fully cooked on one half. He didn't notice till he ate that half and when we told our waitress she was nice enough to give us a free dessert. She also comped the burger! So despite the rareness I think it was very sweet of her to comp the meal and give us dessert. We got the gluten free chocolate cake and it was amazing! Plan B gave me the opportunity to experience some exceptional junk food that was surprisingly not so junky. The other folks in my party wanted an appetizer and they chose the freshly fried potato chips with blue cheese and bacon topping. The chips were miraculously non greasy and perfectly crisp. The toppings were very generous and extremely tasty. For my entree, so as not to go for a completely fat laden choice, I opted for the Burger Salad. It was a beautifully lean hamburger patty served on top of a very fresh salad. It was sprinkled with pickles, finely chopped bacon, tomatoes, fried onion strings, tater tots, and cheese. This is by far a great place to go when looking for some tasty burgers. It has some great burgers whether you are vegetarian or meat eater. There are a variety of very tasty fries. To be 5 star, you have to be consistent. Unfortunately, my go-to item here, the Cobb Salad, was a mess on my last visit. First, the romaine/iceberg "blend' was essentially all iceberg, which in a Cobb Salad is ridiculous. Secondly, the chicken was horribly dried out. In the past, service has been a strong point, but not this time. When I asked the waiter about the lettuce, first he claimed it was supposed to be Iceberg. I asked if he was sure, at which point he went to look at a menu and came back to inform me it is supposed to be a blend. Anyone could see there was absolutely zero darker green romaine leaves in the salad, but got no sympathy or offer to change anything from this waiter. One of my coworkers always talked about this place. When we found out there was one in town, he said we had to go. We got 2 appetizers; the jalapeño poppers, which were really good, and nachos, which were also very good and apparently the chips are made in-house. I went with the West Coast Burger since I love eggs. It didn't disappoint and the truffle fries were a good compliment to the burger. I'd definitely eat at another one of these when given the opportunity to. Well it's strike 3 for Plan B. I wanted to be fair to this place. I went on opening night and it was trrrible. I waited a few months so they could work out the bugs and it was terrible. Please see my other reviews. Well I went back last Friday night. We ha to wait an hour to get a seat but that wasn't bad, we hung out at the bar and had a few drinks. In the past I ordered a burger that was either on the special menu or was recomended by the staff so this time I just ordered a plain cheeseburger with L,T,O, Mayo and Ketchup so I could get a true taste of the meat. Iwas however talked into getting the disco tots ( tater tots with cheese and gravy). One bite in and I couldn't hvae been more dissapointed. The meat tasted bad. Almost like it was old or left out overnight. The roll was cut so that there was 2 inches of bun on top and 1/4 inch on the bottom. By the time I took 2 bites the bottom was soaked and falling apart. Had I wanted to finish the burger ( I did not!!!) I would've had to eat it with a knife and fork. Disco tots: Microwaved tater tots with about 1 oz of gravy that covered maybe 2 tots. It was suposed to have cheese but I guess they forgot. All in all a nasty side dish and I love gravy fries. So to sum it up. 3 strikes. Sorry but I will never go back there again. We've been to Plan B in West Hartford a couple of times and the burgers were top notch, so we were sure they would be the same at the new Plan B in Milford. We've eaten there twice in hopes of the eating best burger in Milford but Plan B came up short both times. The burger was dry and cooked much less pink than how I ordered it (with pink). The service was good and the beer selection is great. But it's tough to name your restaurant ".....Burger" and not have outstanding burgers. While her Maine Lobster Roll and Salad were fine, my Burger with Onion Rings left a lot to be desired. You have two different cooking option for burgers Not Pink and Some Pink. The burger was fired rather than broiled. If you want a fried burger better to go to Five Guys. The onion rings were tough. I've bought frozen onion rings from the supermarket that were better. Why serve New Pickles with a burger. Better to serve a cucumber. This pickle must have been cured in turpentine rather than brine. It was inedible. The atmosphere was non existent. Loud obnoxious music designed to turn tables made you want to hurry up and leave as soon as your meal was done. A $31 dollar tab for two people for lunch with no alcoholic beverages was a bit much, too. No need to give this clip joint a second chance. I'd eat at the rest stop on I 95 before I go back to this place. You don't have to be Moses to pass over this place. Go somewhere else. Or stick with Plan A instead of Plan B. read more

I got a turkey burger...small and dry....and an order of onion rings...about 10 rings on a skewer for $4.50...they were cold, and tasted like frozen food instead of fresh...I think if i'm getting 10 onion rings for $4.50 that they better be hot and taste fresh. we each had 2 vodka drinks w/ our meals.....total bill $63.00 + tip. I reeeeally was hoping to like this place... but it fell short on every angle really. When you compare this place to Prime 16 in New Haven, its very pale. The food is not very tasty. It is bland, and lifeless (harharhar) and leaves no lasting memory what-so-ever. The beer selection is OK, but honestly just Ok. There are better places a short stones throw away (and again not nearly as good as Prime!!!). The decor is great - BUT a lot of good that does, it doesn't come on a plate... Our server was so over the top phony it made me lose what was left of my appetite - but hey maybe some people like that thing... Ive heard their bourbon selection is great, and that may be so, I can't comment on that myself... In short, just drive a mere 15 more and head to PRIME 16!! That place is a real Plan A!! ...So sorry Plan B, but you are definitely a 'B' (or C or D) next to an A like that... A 2 star review means, 'Meh Iv experienced better', and thats a great way to explain this place. Great concept...terrible execution. That pretty much sums up my recent experience to Plan B in Milford, CT. The idea of the great Three B's (bourbon, beer and beef) on the same menu is one that truly resonates within my soul. I mean, what is not to like about any of those three? And, the idea of a great combination is something that would surely excite even the most difficult of carnivores. Sadly for Plan B, their beautiful idea goes horribly wrong shortly after you arrive. The service seems to be severely overwhelmed (probably just novices as the restaurant was not very busy) and their attention to detail was very poor. The burgers were all miscooked or prepared incorrectly and the sides were all very cold (not even a heat lamp could solve this one). Also, you may want to have them lighten the amount of lettuce and tomato they put on each burger as it was far too much and made the bun very soggy. If there was a bright spot, it seemed that the quality of the meat was quite good so, if prepared / delivered correctly, one would have enjoyed it! In addition, many of the beers they had on the diverse tap list were either "kicked or no longer available" which was somewhat frustrating as this took away one of the Three B's that they promised! Lastly, the bourbon we ordered at the beginning only arrived when the check did (40 minutes later) and the waitress was disappointed that we asked to have it removed from the check. Let's just chalk this one up to being new and hope that someone there reads what Yelpers have to offer! Wanted to check out this place after hearing about it in some sorta advertisement somewhere, where it was escapes me at the moment either way i went. At first arrival we were told the wait was an hour for two people, so as we have come to do we creeped in the bar area where its every man for themselves. Within about 2 minutes we were able to creep hard on a table that had a giant group around it waiting and we asked them if they were sitting and NOPE they were not (which was easy to tell they weren't since there was like 20 of them and only 2 seats) so we snatched it up. I HIGHLY SUGGEST DOING THIS. i would underline and bold this suggestion if i could. We ordered a couple gandhi bots from the waiter who seemed a tad overwhelmed, which seemed to be the general vibe of all the waiters. I just wanted to give them all a pep talk and say ok guys just stop, take a deep breath in and relaxxxxxxx...everything will be OK! so drinks came out fast and soon after we ordered i had the portobella burger (i cant remember the name of it) and the boy had the california burger, both were EXCELLENT and came out fast though the waiter kept acting like he was so sorry it was taking long....which it wasn't at all. Overall i had a great experience, and would definetly go back. I most likely won't ever sit in the dining room just stick to the bar area. Three times been and each time, burger was over cooked! The final and very last straw was when my husband's burger came out minus the actual meat. It was a joke. Couldn't track our waiter- or any waitstaff for that matter-down for another few minutes. We finally got the food runner to help us out. They took his non-burger away and brought back a solid brick of beef. Of course, we asked in the beginning for ours to both have pink. It was inedible! So pathetic. I didn't even eat mine b/c I felt so bad for him. We always try to give restaurants a chance as we are both formers in the industry for many years. But this place manages to get at least one thing wrong every time. I don't think they are prepared to handle the volume of people that come in and out of there. Their kitchen is obviously challenged when it comes to cooking a simple burger. We'll stick with Temple Grill + Prime 16 in New Haven if we want it done right. Those two know what they're doing. I went there because Plan B is well known up to Hartford area and I have been to the one in West Hartford where I had a good time. Plan B Milford is a little bit disappointed for me. I went there twice, and both time were just alright. The first time when I went there, the waitress wasn't doing a good job. She was running around like a lost kid. I ordered a salmon burger which was pretty bad. I didn't even finish it. When I think of a fish burger, I think of a piece of fish fillet but the salmon in the burger looked and tasted like the salmon in the can from stop&shop. The bread was very dry, so the whole burger was dry, taste less and kind of made me feel disgusted. The second time was better. We went there for lunch, and just ordered some apps. The waiter was friendly and food was alright. It's a cool place to hangout, I guess. But if you are looking for a good burger, I think you better go to the red robin in the mall or 5 guys down the street. read more

Pricy, sloppy, and disappointing. I went into Plan B expecting a great burger and experience but received far from it. The restaurant has a lot of choices for burgers and chicken sandwiches but what surprised me was they don't cook burgers to order. You're given the choice of some or no pink because they claim the beef is fresh ground daily and loosely packed. While this sounds all well and good the reality is the burger falls apart and I ended up eating it with a knife and fork. This was a huge disappointment and when I inquired with the waitress about it she said it's simply how they make the burgers.
