Planet beauty happens to be the closest place to my house that carries a wide variety of beauty products. I really only come in for hair product, but they have a huge store with lots of different items. Much more of a selection than Sally's. Everytime i walk in I am greeted by one of the pretty girls behind the counter. They are always willing to help and answer questions. Park underground if u dont feel like waiting for a spot to open up on the ground level. Kinda pricey but what beauty products arent? read more

I would go to Sally's over Planet Beauty anytime. The prices are so expensive here. The last time I was here it was specifically to purchase a purple shampoo to maintain my bleached blonde hair. I was recommended a Rene Furterer $30 shampoo by the sales associate, and I checked online and the price was consistent... however you just have to be careful so you aren't ripped off. I was also approached by the eyebrow threading lady from the back and she handed me her business card after inquiring where I get my eyebrows done and assuring she can do a better job.... nope, not coming here for that... Their rewards program is NON EXISTENT... if you want any updates or perks, the only option is to sign up for their email list. In my opinion, it is an out-dated way to retain customers. I didn't find any email offers/ pre-sale announcements to be of interest. read more

This place BLOWS!!! Its small, doesn't have a good selection, is over priced, and the employees are less than friendly. I only came to this location because its near by and they sent out a coupon for $10 off of a $20 purchase. I thought it was a good deal, until I read the fine print which excludes damn near everything in the store except for the hair brushes. Bad deal. Like some other reviewers I noticed that there are a lot of basic products that they don't carry. Its also so small inside that many parts of the store made me feel claustrophobic. This is th best place ever for beauty products, shampoo and conditioners, candles, hair stuff and more, but the best part of the store is the eyebrow girl in the back! Great sales associates who are friendly and helpful with recommendations. This was my first visit to a Planet Beauty store, so I can only compare it to other similar stores (Sephora/Ulta). It's small and carries select beauty products. I looked online before my visit, so i knew what products to expect. Aside from having select products, i appreciated how personal the shopping experience was. I didnt have to beg for service, or elbow other customers just to pass thru the aisles, so that was refreshing! I used my Groupon voucher (bought it for $15, and used it for $30)! They have this on Groupon often - definitely look for it! Parking can be hectic because its in a strip mall, shared with a super market, rite-aide and starbucks. Great product selections, although slightly marked up. Staff could be friendlier. Would NOT recommend getting a hair cut from the small salon in the back... Gave specific instruction on what I wanted but they were ignored and the hair dresser Freda instead cut a style she thought suited me better... Was not happy to say the least. Holy crap these ladies are helpful. Especially Tammie. Ok, I just came in here cause I've been trying to learn about more hair products, and I'd heard of the wonders of pomade. That it's medium hold so not crunchy, but adds shine. But the thing is, there are so many products, and they're a little pricey if you aren't used to buying them, and then you're stuck with several month's worth of something you might not like. So I came into planet beauty and said, "I've been reading all these articles online and I'm confused, can you help?" And Tammie came to the rescue. She gave me her recommendation, her reasoning, and a couple options. Then she filled up some tiny sample containers for me to take with me to try at home. I'm not sure if it's the owner or manager but the girl with purple hair (Possibly Frida? who was mentioned in other reviews) is absolutely AMAZING! The last two times I came in here she went above and beyond as far as customer service goes. The last time she gave me a couple of small items with my purchase, which was very thoughtful! And the time before that I had a weird return/issue and she took care of it, no problem. Because of her amazing customer service, I feel like a valued customer and will keep coming back to this location even though it's not that close to home. I think somone mentioned she cuts hair? If so, I would love to book an appointment! Also, they have a big selection of Morrocan Oil hair products, which have saved my hair from endless damage! read more

I was shopping today and mentioned in passing that I had a bad experience there several years ago. I spent a lot of money on hair products that my hair had a bad reaction to. At the time I called the store and the sales associate said I could not exchange them even though. I was upset about wasting money and product but I let it go. I happened to bring it up to the sales associate, Stephanie, today as she showed me products. She went out of her to help me and apologized for what happened even though it was so long ago and the employee probably doesn't work there anymore. I don't even remember who it was. Great selection. I buy my shaving & hair products from the. Surprised at all the negative remarks about the staff. They seem friendly enough every time I've been there. Their prices are MSRP but, if you sign up & give tem your email there are specials at least a couple of times a month. First and last time. Came in here to do some Halloween shopping and knew what I wanted. No one greeted me when I walked in and I noticed the "Now Hiring" sign on the door (aka they're short staffed). It seemed busy but it wasn't. An out of towner was asking an associate about a specific lip color she wanted that they didn't have. This particular associate kept saying she was on her lunch break but kept helping her out anyway. She then goes on her lunch when her customer seems settled. The only other associate was helping another customer look for I don't know what, but whatever it was took FOREVER. She must've been a regular because they kept talking about her husband, and her kids, and her friends birthday party (I digress). There were only 3 customers in the store. I knew what I wanted but had never been in this store before so I wanted to ask an associate for help/suggestions. It is a small store so as I stood by the cash register waiting for some sort of acknowledgement I felt awkward and in the way. About 7 minutes go by and I'm still standing there. Finally the talkative regular decides to pay and there is no sense of urgency with this associate, Kelly. Kelly takes her time helping her out and they talk some more about this customer's life and a flier that Kelly was on where she didn't like her picture. They didn't even have shopping bags at the counter and Kelly had to go to the back room to grab some. I used to work retail, so I understand wanting to keep a relationship with a regular customer and being understaffed, but there comes a point when you have to speed things up a bit and you can do it without being rude to anyone. She didn't even look at me and say "I'll be with you in a sec!" which would've been nice and made me less angry. How do you expect to gain new customers if you don't even acknowledge them? When it was finally my turn, I have a NYX green lip gloss (that I found no thanks to these associates) in my hand. I ask her if I would be able to swatch it or if they had a sample bottle I could try, but Kelly says no and she can't open it. I ask if I would be able to return it if I don't like it and she says no. I ask if they have other shades of green and she suggests Lime Crime. She walks around the tiny store looking for the Lime Crime section and it is literally right by the cash register. I had already checked that section out and didn't find anything I wanted. I picked up a GREY color and she says that's gonna be the closest thing to what I want. Can someone explain to me how GREY and GREEN are close? She then hurries off to help another customer, like I wasn't worth her time. She doesn't make any other suggestions or ask if I need help with anything else. Our whole interaction was 45 seconds. Sorry if I don't look like a Studio City housewife, but I do spend more than I should on makeup. The whole time she was talking she sounded like a smug Valley Girl. I put the NYX makeup back on the shelf and walk out. My advice: Go anywhere else. In WeHo there's Ulta or Target. In Hollywood there's Sephora or Mac. In Burbank there's Morphe. This small store isn't worth your time or money. read more

I used go to go to the mall to thread my eyebrows, about $12 each time, but I was never happy with the outcome, somehow they weren't giving my eyebrows the right shape. When I met Frida she was so confident she could help me that I decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did because She turned out to be the best!!! Definitely my go-to store for beauty products of all kinds! The groupons you can buy are super fun too and cut the cost of the already-reasonable products! Tammie the Asst Manager was so sweet and helpful and hooked me up with a wonderful foundation and powder and face brush. She didn't push anything on me, was informative and professional and took time out to give me all sorts of info. I walked out with some great products and even a bunch of sample stuff. Lots of fun!!
