Both my husband and I have been long time customers of this store in particular, but also of other locations as well. I have asked them to order things for me and on more than one occasion I have never gotten a call back. However, what took place this past week makes me see more and more why brick and mortar stores are going by the wayside. Who needs lousy customer service when Amazon Prime delivers on the same day and is cheaper. Over a week ago I was in the store to buy some products and one of them had a leak. The salesperson said she would order it for me from another store and would call me. A week went by, no call, so I called the store. I got a recording so I pressed the appropriate number and was transferred to corporate customer service. She then sent me back to the Studio City store and once again the same merry-go-round of voicemail hell happened. This time I gave my name, number and product message to the person at corporate. Still no call. Went on line and had product at my door before the end of the day from Amazon Prime. Another establishment I won't be using again!!!! I love this place. Months ago, my mom & I wanted to try Jane Iredale make up so we came here to check it out. Amanda is the BEST and even though my heart was set on the Jane Iredale liquid, she suggested smashbox instead with a Jane Iredale powder to set it. Seriously, I haven't used anything else since and I get compliments ALL THE TIME on my make up! My mom ended up getting the JI liquid cause it was more suited to her, and everything Amanda has suggested we have absolutely loved and repurchased! Not a huge selection of brands, but if you're a fan of the brands they have and need help picking something out - come see Amanda. read more

I had questions about false eyelashes since I never use them and seriously the "manager" Cheyenne ( seriously, wtf kinda name is that? what are you the leader of a Navajo tribe?) could not have been more dismissive or snottier. I'm removing 3 stars from this place because (1) they have almost no organic products considering they are in a place that is an ideal market for that (Studio City area). (2) A few days ago I bought hair product and was told that I could return it if I was unhappy with it. When I went back today to return it, they said something different. They said they only accept exchanges or store credit, even after telling them that I had not used it at all. So I decided to buy conditioner just so I would not throw away almost $20 from that initial purchase. So, I ended up buying a conditioner that I'm just blah about. And on top of that, paying almost $6 dollars more. (3) The third reason for subtracting another star is that when I bought that hair product a few days ago, the lady said it was organic. But when I got home and looked at it closely, there was no description stating it was organic (this was one of the reasons I returned it, plus it did not state that it was cruelty free). But the great thing about this place is their staff. From my visit today and the one a few days ago, they were very nice, attentive, professional and greeted/asked me what I needed within a minute of entering. This week was my first time going back in 3 years. But I might wait a while again before coming back considering my experience this week. However, it would be nice if they had shampoos, conditioners and hair products that are organic, vegan, cruelty free, fair trade, local and made in small batches. But to be fair, a small number of their products are vegan, cruelty free and do not have parabens and pthalates. But to me that is not enough. read more

This place had a Groupon recently and I decided to try it out. I've never been treated this poorly in a shop. The help there acts like you are there to steal and doesn't know the inventory, although it is a small shop. I understand that groupon is just a way to get new customers. So, why not be kind and helpful instead of acting like this? I went in a week before asking for a specific nail polish, the girl told me they would be receiving inventory, but it was a lie. I went back again and the manager there told me they had no new polish at all. It's just annoying. The prices are not great and the service is rude. There's much better places to give your money to. read more

I walked in here because my friend was shopping, Frida was very kind and trimmed my eyebrows no charge. They looked amazing. I made an official appointment and again, she made my crazy eyebrows tame. However, when I got to my appointment, I mentioned that I would like a bang trim because my hair was getting too long. She started trimming my bangs and I thought everything was under control until she started cutting my actual hair!!! She chopped off an inch. I told her "wait!! My hair isn't supposed to be one length!! It's an angled cut!" I have very short hair (and angled bob) and I'm trying to grow it out and that inch messed up a wonderful cut I got a couple months ago. My layers are gone, my angled bob is gone, it's one length, it's choppy. She didn't cut it with vertical snips of the scissors, she literally horizontally lined up the scissors with the angle of my hair and cut everything off. I had told her before my appointment started that I was going back home to get all of my hair cut and colored. She asked how much I normally pay and I said $65. Now this is for cut AND color back home because my friend does my hair and is a fantastic stylist. So when Frida was done chopping my hair, she told me "okay now you don't have to get it cut at school! I will charge you $65." I looked at her like she was crazy. And I told her I didn't even want this haircut! Just the bang trim and eyebrows because that was what I asked for! I ended up paying $30 for this cut ($25 for eyebrows because I expected that). I also ended up sitting in the car and crying because it looks so bad. Sure some of the dead ends are gone, but now I have to embarrassingly go back to my home salon with hair that looks like no one took the time to do it right. Only get eyebrows done from Frida. She is a master at that. Not hair. read more

Very knowledgeable, i didnt catch her name but one of the girls who helped me out was nice , and real- real by saying she could be a friend . she was cool and helped me with everything i needed and she didn't even have to try. Next time ill get her name but i would reccomend this store because when it comes to cosmetics and skin , its a personal thing when shopping for products to hide your imperfections , and bcuz of her this will be my new local beauty supply store. read more

They have everything I need so I try to overlook their bad customer service when I get desperate and need some last minute items! However, this weekend I was there (to pick up some conditioner) and their eyebrow lady approached me and told me my eyebrows were all wrong since I had "puffy eyelids and a round face"! I let her know that saying that was very rude and walked away from her. Insulting potential clients might work on insecure birches as a way to drum up new business but that is not how I roll. I think this is a really sad, predatory tactic in the beauty world and it's lame. Change your game, eyebrow lady. Step up your customer service, planet beauty! Occasionally I walk in here due to convenience and ambiance. What a clean, nicely laid out store I notice each time I walk in. Soon enough however I am reminded that the staff here appear to be severely checked out and have the worst customer service skills I have ever witnessed on a human who is standing upright and sober. Each and every time -- without fail -- I feel as though I am bothering the staff when I walk in. They are usually chatting with one another, often gossiping loudly enough that I overhear personal things I'd rather not. The last time I walked in was about a week or so ago. I had been meaning to replace ALL of my makeup with Jane Iredale since I have become newly aware of the toxicity of the makeup I was using. Lucky for me, this store carries Jane Iredale, so I walked in and went to the section to find my colors. I found it odd that the sales ladies didn't come over even though it was obvious I needed help - but no worries I thought- I will just go get in line and then have them help me. What a mistake. There were two lines at the time. Each register had a sales lady and a customer. Here's the thing.... one of the customers (plastic surgery disaster victim) was just BULLSHITTING with the staffer... for at least 7 minutes while I waited. She was not PURCHASING anything and the sales person did not ask her to step aside so that she could help the actual customers! The other customer was engaging in small talk well after her transaction was completed. I sat and waited politely until I began to get offended. These ladies just could not give a F*CK that there were customers who needed help - so I left and will never go back. What a shame. read more

My skin clarity has drastically improved since I began working with Michael as a result of his product recommendations that were precisely tailored to my needs vs. being tailored to meeting a sales quota as was the case when I shopped at department stores or spas. I am also a dedicated devotee to Frida as she is by far the best aesthetician that has ever shaped my eyebrows. I visited Frida after an unfortunate wax job at a local salon, which left my eyebrows in a horrid bare state. Frida was able to repair the salons job on my first visit, and over the past several months, with each visit, my brows look better and better. I highly recommend Frida's services as she is superb. In summary, next time that you are in need of a beauty product or service, forego the department store hassle and visit Planet Beauty. read more

Kelly is the sweetest! I usually shop on Sundays and she seems to be the only person working on that day.....and she handles all of the clients patiently, she acknowledges everyone and doesn't look stressed when clients start to look impatient. And she works like her manager is lurking even though no one is around....meaning she suggestive sells, she is kind, not pushy and always points out whatever product is their "featured" item. And, I have run in as they are pulling in their sign to close up for the night, and they never do what most shops / employees do, which is to curtly tell you they are closed, or closing. This review is for Frida the stylist. I have been going to her for eyebrow threading for about 7 months now, and she is without a doubt the best eyebrow "stylist" I have ever seen. She took my eyebrows from thin, uneven and messy to absolutely perfect shape and thickness. I used to line my brows every morning for 6+ years, and now I don't have to do that AT ALL anymore. I can honestly say I will be a lifetime customer! If you are even remotely unsatisfied with your natural eyebrow in any way, go to Frida and she will fix them for you!! read more

I have been going to Farida (Frida, who works in the salon at this location) to have my eyebrows threaded ever since I moved to LA 5 1/2 years ago. I was blessed to find her working at a different salon shortly after arriving here and I have followed her wherever she has gone since. I will not let another living soul attempt to shape my eyebrows. Frida is an artist at what she does. Every few weeks when my brows start to grow in, I just go to Frida and I feel pretty again. I stopped in out of the blue and was happy to find that they carry a wide range of products that I normally don't see in other beauty supply stores. They have skincare, makeup, candles, hair products and accessories. Some brands included Pacifica, mommy-targeted balms and lotions, baby products, Smashbox, Too Faced, and Sweet Spot. They had a good variety of false eyelashes as well. I only perused the place, but it's nice to know where I could go to purchase these high-end things in the future. read more

Parking can definitely be awful, especially on Saturday's. I like going in to this store because they have many products that I use, especially a great selection of skin care. I normally shop Saturday mornings and Silvia is awesome. At times the store will get busy but she is very thorough and helpful with any questions I may have.
