In March 2019 I have got a membership in one of the Bakersfield's branch (2300 White Ln, Bakersfield, CA 93304). After couple of month I've moved to LA and ask stuff to cancel my membership since non of Planet's Fitness location been suitable for me in my new home. Of course, I was totally agree to pay cancellation fees, but I haven't noted that Planer Fitness have ridiculous and absolutely non-customer oriented policy - you cannot cancel their membership by email or phone, but by visiting the Home location only. Just think about it, what you can do online: - open a bank account; - pay your taxes; - set up an LLC or Corporation; But, you cannot cancel a stupid membership to Planet Fitness, who have you phone number, name/family name and email. I love coming to this location. It's always clean and the staff is attentive. Most machines are in working order with an exception once in a while. The female locker room is always clean and stocked. The majority of the patrons wipe down the machines and weights when they are done - along with hydro massage and chairs. However, I still see some people not wipe down. Today (07/12), 2 female staff members got up from the two hydro massage beds and didn't bother to wipe it down. Of all people; you would think the staff would follow the little signs to set an example for the customers. A little disappointed to see that. Overall, I don't have any complaints for the gym. Ok so here's what happened, apparently the reason why they didn't open was because inspection didn't pass. Regarding them withdrawing the money, it was credited back to my account. The gym is clean and staff was friendly. Equipment was clean. Large facility, new equipment. Some already have "temporarily out of order" signs. Very clean, large locker rooms with showers and changing rooms. Tried out the hydro massage (there 3 beds), feels very good and relaxing. Friendly and helpful staff. But I'm not sure if they are short-staffed or what because every time I want to check in, the front desk is empty or they have you wait a bit. So far, so good. Hopefully they keep it up. read more

FINALLY this place is open! Their opening was delayed almost a month, but they still took my money. Jerks. Whenever I would try to call to see if they were open yet, no one would pick up the phone. The ladies who signed me up for membership didn't seem to have a clue what they were doing. You're better off finding out information from the comfort of your own home using the Internet, because these girls will stare at each other and guess the answer. Two stars. I like Planet Fitness because I do not feel weird coming here. Most people here look a lot like me, carrying a few extra pounds and trying to do something about it. PF is proud of the non-judgmental tradition, and I really like that. They have plenty of treadmills, steppers and bikes, as well as plenty of free weights and other workout stations. I've never felt rushed, and I am kinda slow. I like the emphasis on hygiene, with plenty of cleaner and towels around to clean the machines you use. I once watched an employee spend several minutes cleaning a treadmill, and not just the handles. She scrubbed the actually tread, the sides, the pockets, AND the handles. I hope this is indicative of all the employees and all the machines. For $10 a month, I am getting more than my money's worth. read more

I love coming here after work and workout for an hour or so. Very clean and very friendly staff. Normally I don't have any complains but when I went for an hour to workout and wanted to use the hydro massage bed one of them wasn't working so I went to the front desk and told the lady that was working. She came over and looked and told me to go to the other one while she sets up. I have been a member of Planet Fitness for around three years and have visited several different locations in cities such as Louisville, KY, Morton Grove, IL, San Diego, CA, and now Bakersfield. If I'm being perfectly honest, this location is the most blasé out of all of them. A lot of the staff I have encountered are not very friendly or helpful. There is a young man that walks around the facility and cleans. That would be all fine and dandy if he didn't attempt to clean the machine you are using. I have also used a bench press and had staff clean the mirror in front of it. I use the mirror when I am using the bench press to check my posture. I think they may be oblivious to how rude that is. However, this gym I almost always clean and well maintained. I will give them that. My only qualms are that they do not have a water filter at their water fountain (in Bakersfield-really?!) and their bathrooms always seem to be out of soap. I also wanna give a shout out to the two managers here. I will have to find out their names, but the identifiers I CAN give is that they are two ladies in their mid twenties. One is blonde and one has blonde highlights. They are always so friendly. I would've signed up at In-Shape a long time ago if it weren't for them! read more

This is the second gym I've joined in Bakersfield. The first one was the 24 Hour Fitness on Gosford. That club was fine. No issues really. But my membership ended and it took awhile for me to get back in the gym habit. I choose Planet Fitness' $10 a month plan to keep my costs down. With the lower price, my expectations weren't super high. But 6 weeks in, I'd have to say that it's better than the 24 Hour Fitness I went too. PF is much cleaner thanks to their staff keeping up on it, and the customers also clean the machines themselves a lot more here. The machines are new and almost never down for maintenance. Obviously, no gym is perfect, but I like that I'm spending a lot less and getting the same or better. read more

I liked this gym because there was no commitment and no sign up fee, because let's face it, who knows how long I'll stick to it. I enjoy tanning so that's a definite plus for me. And I don't feel uncomfortable here at all. But for some reason on Monday nights it's ALWAYS super busy. More than normal. And I haven't figured out why. This gym I've heard has some people not wanting to join for 11 bucks got the basic package the time I go it's empty and machines are always available, who cares if there is purple everywhere I just want something to work out on. Nice staff parking is close (old Walmart parking lot) but the air doesn't seem to work as well in the far back but they have plenty of treadmills which everyone loves, TV's all the way, weights, and a lot more. But since this gym is open 24/7 it's good for early birds and night owls who can't go during the day, 30 min work out area a 12 min an work station and so much more to offer so far it's something different then body xchange with everyone cramed in it read more

This review is based only on their costumer service. I am from Delano but saw the ad on Yelp for the Delano location with a phone number so I had to call! Stephanie helped me over the phone, she answered every single question and was so friendly and helpful! Update: My friend and were in Bakersfield and made a stop at planet fitness. Stephanie was working again and let us take a tour around the gym and then answered my questions and my friends questions! I don't know Stephanie, never met her before today, but she's doing an awesome job. Planet Fitness is an average score for me. They need more things such as; workout balls, extra yoga mats, more fans. Also, they need to stop serving PIZZA once a month. How about you serve some healthy food? Fruits? Samples of workout shakes or snacks? NOT PIZZA. That's so rude and defeats the purpose of what we're all trying to do. This place is absolutely terrible!! I WOULDN'T EVEN PUT ONE STAR IF I DIDNT HAVE TO. The workers are extremely rude, I have the black card but they would not let me bring my sister in, there's hardly any good equipment and it's usually dirty, they charge me twice every month and when I brought that to their attention they say it's for maintenance fixes. I've tried to cancel it but they won't let me. I'm missing one month of payment so they won't let me use my card but they still charge me. It's totally just not worth it and I highly recommend In-Shape instead. read more

I love this gym. My favorite Planet Fitness location in town. The staff here is super friendly and welcoming and is always eager to help you out. The managers are always willing and it makes your workout even more pleasant. Ok..so I can review this PF as a comparison to the one in San Diego-being that both are fairly new and I did see white lane when it first opened, vs recently changing to SD as home base location..and I can tell you it does make a difference in how ..oooh brb..(excuse getting Massage be back in about 04:22 mins..lol ) ..how you feel about the atmosphere right?atleast yes I like both sites I dont feel the "gymtimidation." So staff are equally friendly with genuine smiles and positive attitude thus far no complaints really..I gave 4 stars because there slight differenced extra-aka cosmetically- so heres the pro cons list Rolando site (san diego) vs. Bako White Lane-just a few things lol: 1. Water area:(+) has a water bottle refillstation so u bring your own and can refill as u need to vs. Fill via fountain is ok but can be messy if you have horrible aim into your bottle 2.Womens-Locker area: (+)has loaner lockers no need to bring your own you just put yer stuff in set a code u can remember to open it later and your good to go..convenient I really appreciate they did that... but 3shower stalls vs. Bako 4: has privacy door vs r curtainw/ shower stall-curtains & both have dedicated stalls to change in same area 3.Black card area--(+)hydromassage has pillows so u don't have to guess which end is where u lay your head**this happened to me Bako doesn't have them on but to the side on sum and I was all ready n then noticed the screen was showing my lower body getting worked but um I think was apparently at my head lol(I had to turn around and adjust myself n wasted about a minute from my session lol..no pillow.. --however I did like how bako- centralizes there stuff in a square type layout the middle has sitting area n tv right tannin n there are 4 tbe in bako to 2 in SD, then to left are3 hydromassages and 3 seated massage chairs near front entrance/exit SD kinda squashed u gotta go around a corner n bam equipment is there,few tables before u round corner. Lastly for now , 4. All equipment to is laid out so you can just go where you need too in SD they have a few rooms separates focus areas..which is good if you like different rooms Overall both places are good gym for those who like me just want to get in and get out. I love this gym very much. Equipment, people with memberships there are awesome as well. However, the employees aren't very friendly at all. Most of them give attitude when asked a question, etc. of course, there are those really nice employees who I appreciate. Since I have the black card membership, I am able to to bring a different guest with me everyday unlimited times. The process of having my guests put into their system is not difficult, but these employees make it so difficult on themselves with their nasty attitude as if they have anything better to do. They have the worse facial expressions like they don't want to be there. Which is understandable, but if you're going to be rude about it maybe you should look for a job elsewhere. If the employees were a little more welcoming, I would give this gym 10/10. A lot of the employees who work front desk don't even say "have a good day" when you're leaving. Understandable if they're busy, but everyday I go, there is not a customer at front desk asking questions, etc (probably because of their horrible attitude), so I would appreciate it if they said goodbye at the least rather than it being awkward walking out. I love this gym. It's affordable, clean, the staff is friendly, there is a great variety of machines and the best thing is there are no contracts. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the gym is in a not so good area. I worry about my car being vandalized or broken into while I'm working out. The parking lot and shopping center itself are rather dirty and there is graffiti on some of the buildings. The planet fitness truck even had graffiti all over the side. Planet fitness needs to work with the owner of the shopping center to get a security guard and to have regular gardening and cleaning services for the lot. read more

It's ok they just need to keep everything filled like napkins toilet paper cleaning spray etc. Also their steppers are always broken and never get fixed.I guess you get what you pay for.Oh and they should hire a security guard to patrol the parking lot cause cars are always getting broken into including mine you can't really workout right when you have to be worried about your car. read more

I'm going to give this gym 4 stars. I am giving 4 stars primarily because of the price. The gym is average size. It isn't extremely small, like I thought it would be. They have plenty of work stations as well. I was quite concerned with them having leg presses, stair master, and enough treadmills. They have approximately 8 stair masters, possibly 20 treadmills (I didn't do an exact count), and various other machines. They have sections for free weights, leg machines, arm machines, and cardio. There are sprays to clean your machine after use! They also have locker rooms with lockers, of course, restrooms, and showers. The gym does not have a sauna, or a pool, but they do have a massage machine if you pay for the premium membership, which also allows you to bring a guest for free. With the premium membership you can also go to ANY planet fitness in any city, which is cool being that I live in LA, but often visit family and friends in Bakersfield. You get a free T shirt when you enroll, which I liked! The staff is nice, but I wouldn't say helpful. No one gave me a tour when I signed up, which most people would prefer. I wanted to write a review because I was unsure of how much equipment there was, and if they had the equipment I wanted to use. So do not fear, they have plenty of machines, so you're not arm wrestling one another to see who gets the machine next. And they have multiples of several of the machines. Also, if you enroll before January 14th 2016 you only pay $10 for enrollment fees and then $10 a month thereafter. No commitment, no contract, you can quit any time! Overall this is a wonderful gym. If you are about getting in, getting your workout done, and getting out this is the gym for you. The equipment is nice, a nice variety of machines, and it's a clean facility. The only bad thing that I have seen is that they seem very understaffed.
