Being a member since 2021 I've seen that this Planet fitness location has maintained their equipment routinely. They've also recently changed the layout to accommodate for the different types of workouts. I've been a member of the YMCA, 24 hour fitness and Planet Fitness and this location offers ample floor space for ppl to simply stretch and/or do core workouts in lieu of having to navigate around equipment and/or infringing on a class like at the Y. I value things like that. They also offer different variations of leg, core, upper body strength training equipment so you don't have to constantly wait for machines like I've found at other locations. Now this may happen from time to time during peak hours but Ive found that the mornings it is a good crowd but not overwhelming. Women's locker area and bathrooms are clean. I wish they had saunas but there's not much more I would change, especially at this great price point! I did take off a point because outside of the app and/or occasional notes on the door, there's been times the gym has closed for emergencies which is an inconvenience when I'm not notified. I've been a member for quite a while and never had any issues with the equipment or the facility itself. However, I haven't been able to come in for the past year due to health issues. When an unexpected annual charge appeared--with no prior notice--I cancelled my membership the same day. Given that I had already paid $10 per month for over a year for a service I was unable to use, I reached out to request a refund or some form of consideration. Unfortunately, they were unwilling to help in any way. When I called the local location, I only received what felt like a scripted response rather than a genuine attempt to resolve the situation. If and when my health improves, I'm honestly not sure I'd feel comfortable providing them my account information again. read more

Water fountain is out almost every other week. Power and ac seems to also go out monthly where sometimes they have to close for 3-4 days to a week. Since power goes out the fans won't turn on a result even after the power is on for a few days. Also women's showers have such small curtains that they don't even close all the way and the restrooms flood often. I read the review that mentions that a/c has been out and now the gym has been closed for 2 days waiting on repairs. The response from Planet Fitness was talk to the GM. Problem is the old one left several months ago and no one knows if they have hired a new one. That is apparently why they are constantly running out of paper towels and the cleanliness of the place has gone downhill. I for one don't care if I have to workout in a gym without a/c. Close when the part comes in if that is what you are waiting on - or at least give paying members an explanation and some kind of time frame as to when you expect the repairs to be completed. read more

Clean and huge black card member area. There are a lot of cardio machines. The only thing it lacks is that the weight equipment is older compared to what I've used at my home gym. Some of the equipment I could not use because I could not adjust it to my height as I am only 5 ft or it was in disrepair. Besides that the gym is really nice. If you need a gym open late/ early hours this is not the place it looks like they close at 10:00 during the week and 9:00 on the weekends. read more

This PF is awful. No none seems to care that the paper towel dispensers are usually empty. I reported this to the manager last week and already this week there are two dispensers empty one again. No one reminds anyone that we are to wipe down the equip after we use it. SOOOOOOOO many people ignore the process. It's disgusting to watch someone just walk away and not care. The floors are filthy, especially in the rear [yellow room ] are full of hairballs and dust. When I am on the mat I can see that no one has swept or cleaned this area for quite some time. The front door of this place is so dirty I hate to touch it. I have gone to the front desk numerous times and the help is always on their phone while we have to walk from the back all the way to the front just to get a paper towel. I have tried to bite my tongue but no more! The manager here just doesn't give a rats butt about this location. Numerous people I have spoken to in the gym are frustrated about this location. We try to honor the request to wipe down the machines BUT HOW CAN WE WHEN THERE ARE NO PAPER TOWELS TO DO IT WITH!!! We need a manager who cares this. This one obviously does not. read more

If you look at maps you'll see that this location is one if the few that closes ridiculously early. That combined with a like a row machines really makes it to where I can't give it a five star review. Also there are times when Ive stood at the desk waiting for someone to help me out. Also had some strange folk rambling on their phone, keep that nonsense at home this is a gym, not a Starbucks, which by the way would be a pleasant add on. Also when leaving the gyms main parking lot driveway you almost need a 4X4 just to climb the hill and not bottom out which clearly many many vehicles already have. Equipment is never down like you see in most gyms. They keep track of their equipment here which is nice to see. Very affordable. Recommend here with it being first of the year and all. read more

This review is not for the planet fitness of Rockwall, but for all planet fitness, when I first started going to this gym I really liked it. I knew there were a lot of anti planet fitness sentiment around but i didn't care. The thing that made me love pf was their late closing hours. The machines were mediocre, some seemed very pointless or a waste of space, and I wasn't fond of the set up. But all that stuff is subjective. I started working at ymca and got access to the gym there but I still used PF frequently because of their later closing hours . I had to take a break though because I just did not have the time to go since i didn't have a fully personal car, and was in school and the YMCA more often. My account was charged and I was super low. I take responsibility for that, so I called them up and asked if they could pause my account cause i wasn't going to use it anytime soon and i had made the choice to be financially more efficient even if that ment working out earlier which I disliked.the guy over the phone told me I would typically have to go in to pause my account but I just did not have the time, luckily he said he can just do it over the phone and it will be fine. He said that on my life. If he said otherwise than he should said it differently. So yeah he says he can pause it for me without me coming in and I thanked him, i was grateful.fast forward a month later and I'm financially cooked, I was being charge for Amazon products I have never bought, my account must've been compromised or something, then all my reoccurring payments come in to charge me and tell me why planet fitness is one of them, I'm at school, and I'm already in shambles and overwhelmed, it's the end of the semester. I call up pf customer service, and the lady reassesses my problem very clearly and correctly. But then she tells me that since my account wasn't paused I still have to pay. Meaning since this wasn't a technology issue then it's my fault. She try's asking me if I remember the person over the phone the initial time. And I say no since how the hell would I remember his name after a month. And she told me that I could come in before January to avoid getting charged again. And even if I don't care since he's not the one that took my money. Everyone makes mistakes so I respected bro or whoever "tried" to pause my account but I was so pissed when she told me to have a nice day, I mean I was done with pf. I had already been played by Amazon since they told me they can't help me. But now something as simple as a human mistake is causing the mega fitness conglomerate from giving me back my money. The lack of thought for contingency plans angered me, and it showed me that pf couldn't care less about their customers. I have had problems with Spotify and PlayStation. They have all been able to help me, but not pf. Im starting to see their schemes and how they trick their older clients. Now I'm stuck paying over draft for pf and the large amounts of money are bringing me back into red as I type this. The holidays have passed and I have a lot of things to purchase. Clean environment. Nice staff. Had been going there for the past year. However the last couple of times, I had an encounter with the workout Nazi. This is a muscle bound older guy who thinks it is his mission to critique everyone using the equipment. He thinks he is trying to help but he is just arrogant and condescending. Great gym!!! I needed a second gym membership where I could get more of a cardio workout to supplement my HIIT training. The staff is really friendly and always there to help. I signed up for the black card membership which includes the use of the tanning and massage beds. They were running a special so it was only $20 a month. The one thing I love is they are open 24/7, varies for holidays. Every time I have been there have always been more than enough machines and no waiting. The gym is kept very clean by the staff. They have numerous stations around the gym with paper towels and sanitizer. From what I have seen everyone is very respectful and wipes down the machines and weights after using them. They do have scheduled classes but I have not done any yet. I started tanning for a summer vacation and was really impressed with the beds that they have. They carry a wide variety of tanning lostions and with my gym membership I get a discount, I think it was 10-15%, anything helps! The beds have always been wiped down really well. They have both lay down and stand up beds. I know that there is an option for just a tanning membership if you don't want to join the gym but it's more expensive so I don't know why you would do that. I haven't tried any of the massage stuff yet but I saw they had beds and chairs. Overall I would recommend Planet Fitness over the other beg gyms. It's cheaper, I think better, and you can go to any of the gyms in the country too. read more

This is a terrible business. I have been trying to cancel my membership since COVID. We moved out of the Dallas area in 2018. Our memberships have sat dormant for over 5 years. Went to a local PF Gym and was told i had to cancel through my home gym online. After trying to cancel online, i was told i had to call the home gym. I called the gym and the girl i spoke to said that I had to mail in my request to terminate. I've sent at least 10 letters and they supposedly don't receive them and ask me to do it in person. I live 4.5 hours away. I'm not driving to cancel my membership in person.. I still keep getting charged every month. I'm very frustrated. We want our memberships cancelled. It is ridiculous that I am told every time that I can only cancel via letter. A letter I send several times and they have never received... DO NOT SIGN UP HERE! read more

Not a bad gym overall. I am disappointed in the amount of time it takes to fix a urinal in the mens room or a piece of gym equipment. The staff needs to spend more time filling the paper towel dispensers and less time staring at their phone all huddled up behind the counter. Changed my rating to one star after the blow off response from corporate. The correct response when someone makes a complaint is for corporate to say "thanks for bringing that to our attention, we will make sure those problems are addressed. If I had actually ever seen a manager there I would have certainly said something about these issues. read more

Worst worst worst place ever. Zero customer service and zero competent employees. Just about every single time I tan they do not turn on the beds. I have to redress and go up front and remind them to do their jobs. Also, I have notified Corp on multiple occasions due to this problem and them not cleaning beds. Corp doesn't even care. R Update. Planet Fitness Rockwall has been dishonest with their long time customers. They still have not resume normal 24 hours access. Advertising for years a 24 hour gym and then closing at 8pm is just downright unethical and false advertising. They say "We took down all the 24hour posters" You promoted 24 hour gym and that was the agreement when I signed up years ago Planet Fitness Rockwall is in breach of contract and has lied to their customers. i'm leaving 3 stars because I love the staff and the gym has great cleaning practices, but i'm done with "out of order" so i'll leave the next for corporate. Why cant you fix a broken stairmaster within a week? It's ridiculous a multimillion dollar company is this short on maintenance staff or find a better vendor for repairs. This is also consistently a problem with the stairmasters. ..almost weekly. You are definitely not taking advantage of our annual fee that we all graciously pay for "upkeeping / invest back into the club" . staff is awesome repair time is a beatdown and a joke. read more

We did not feel comfortable leaving our car in the parking lot at this location due to the high rate of break ins and theft. Tried to cancel but due to the Covid we were unable to go in, which according to them, you have to do it in person. Finally when they reopened, we went in and cancelled and turned in our id's. Ok, a couple of months go by and then BAM they start debiting my checking account again !! I call as soon as I see this and am told that there is a note on the account that says we only asked for the membership to be suspended for a month! Umm, what? No, we did not. We turned in the membership ID's and cancelled. Said I need to come in and cancel. I WILL NOT come in again ! Had to file a dispute with my bank. The bank said maybe they will get the idea and cancel it if I file a dispute every month. We shall see. read more

The gym itself is fine, but the process of ending your membership is not. I ended my membership months ago and moved, and they kept charging me. The only way to cancel is in person or certified mail. The place is under new management and isn't helpful. If your company doesn't do something right, it shouldn't mean the customer has to jump through 15 hoops and call third party billing companies to try and finally end the membership and get their money back. read more

They keep this gym incredibly hot. It will be hot, humid, and muggy outside and it feels the exact same way when you walk inside their gym. The heat alone inside this place will make you feel nauseous and can easily cut your workout time in half. Also, if you enjoy stair climbers they only have four and the majority of the time one of them is broken down and the others are constantly taken. Meanwhile, they have a dozen bikes that are never used. Read your audience, PF. read more

I have only had a membership for two days at this specific gym and have had nothing but the best experience so far. The staff gave me a great tour and even let me use some of the equipment to test (after they thoroughly cleaned it before and after my test). I would highly recommend this specific planet fitness just for the great hospitality, always clean facilities, and all-around great price for what they offer. The entire environment is a truly judgment free zone and everyone there is encouraging one another at every turn, bidding the other to achieve their fitness goals in a communal way. I have asked 3 times for the staff to clean the floors thoroughly but they have still failed to do so. In fact this crawled on me while I was working out. My kid really gets picked on at school about his weight so we joined Planet Fitness. We had worked out all week with NO PROBLEMS and then this week, all of the sudden they need me to bring his birth certificate and they need me to sign the consent or he can't workout. NO PROBLEM.... BUT, I accidentally forgot the certificate in my school books, and He has been working out there for 2 weeks already, 1 MORE day is not gonna hurt anything because I already signed the consent....we only had 1 hour until I had to go to school and I did not want to let my kid down. HE WAS DOING SO GOOD!!!! They said NO he could not workout without that Birth certificate ‍ But the real kicker here is when I went back up there on my way to school with that stupid birth certificate the lady was gone , but the ASSISTANT MANAGER..... TAYLOR , was there! IN THE ROCKWALL GYM! And I said because of this BS, I will NOT renew my membership, there is no reason you couldn't let him work out (since he's been working out for 2 weeks without it anyway) and you let me bring it up tomorrow. And the response I got from an assistant manager named TAYLOR......WHAT'S 1 CUSTOMER... OUT OF 10,000... OH WELL LADY! She was RUDE and SMUG. I couldn't believe any ASSISTANT MANAGER would think that it's ok to say that to a customer. Awesome huge gym as opposed to the Garland locations.! Hydrotherapy, massage chairs & tanning beds available for the black card members. Friendly staff...! Updated cardio equipment & nice selection for hitting the weights..! Well organized including the automatic paper towels & sanitizers which is a plus to me for wiping down machines. Smoothie shop next door. Oh & a heads up if you're new & not paying attention entry is on the left the doors on the right that look attached are actually for kids gymnastics. Was told I have to pay $10 for ONE DAY which is in fact, the same price as a whole membership. I joined a month ago I could have just got the regular membership for 10 dollars but wanted the hydromassage so I pay 20.00 . This gym only gives you 5 minutes at a time , yes it's unlimited use but after every 5 minutes you have to get up and go ask again and if there's a line you have to wait for next guest . They should at least give 10 minutes at a time by the time you sit down and get situated it's over . It's never busy at the times I go I actually go twice a day and it's never busy they should do it during certain times or something if not I'm just gonna downgrade back to the 10 dollar plan . I genuinely enjoy coming here. There are many many cardio machines, and usually double any of the weight machines you'd like. They have a stretching area that is very private, where you don't feel like you're stretching in front of every one. The women's locker area is gorgeous, always clean with lighted vanity mirrors. ( and private changing rooms). I have the black card membership for 20$ a month, and it really comes with everything you could hope for with that price. Tanning, massage beds AND chairs, and an infrared booth. I've NEVER had a problem with the gym staff, and have always received friendly service. Yes, there are "buff" and very fit people that also work out there-- but never rude or cocky. Like I said, I look forward to coming here! read more
