Water damage, left unevaluated and unrepaired.

Took my car here to be serviced after a windshield technician took my windshield off in a downpour. The car was drenched and we were told by Planet Subaru that the mats and rugs needed replacing and that the parts were back ordered. They had my car for a month and they left saturated rugs in the car for weeks during the summer and now the car smells like mildew. They were supposed to remove the dashboard to ensure that there wasn't any water damage and that the car was functioning properly The digital display is messed up and showing lines and it took 10 minutes for just inches of clear windshield after running my air conditioner and the front and rear defrosters yesterday in the rain. I had to use a paper towel to clear off my windshield. The service manager, Niki, will not return phone calls We were told to bring the car back in so they could evaluate it, which is what they should've done the first time. So no, we aren't bringing my car back to Planet Subaru. I was told by a friend who is in the industry that the entire car should have been gutted and repaired and that this is inexcusable.

Ronda took the time and effort at Planet Subaru to make the purchase my best dealership experience yet. (this is my tenth car) Clean and honest dealership, living up to their great reviews. I picked this dealership based off those reviews and they did not disappoint. Well worth my two hour drive. Very professional and great transparent communication.

I am a little late on this, but wow this place is amazing! About 6 weeks ago we totaled our car and were looking to get into a Subaru. We went to all different dealerships in MA and this was our last stop. Thankfully we waited because the experience we had here was out of this world. Our "sales" man was Joe. And I wouldn't really even call him a salesman. All of the staff here was so happy and professional, there was ZERO pressure, and DOGS! read more

The Serpentine Belt Fiasco December 3, 2008 Odometer: 59956 miles My 72 year old widowed mother on a fixed income takes her 2002 Subaru Outback to Planet Subaru for its 60,000 mile service. She had to schedule an emergency appointment because the serpentine belt broke. The serpentine belt typically runs accessories like the alternator, power steering, and air conditioning. The standard 60,000 mile tune up cost $773.39, but the serpentine belt (sometimes called a V-Belt) costs $527.02. (For those of you interested, AutoZone charges $13.99 for a serpentine belt) Here is the bill: 23950AA011 BRKT Air Conditioner 1 $128.92 809221100 V Belt 1 39.95 23771AA000 Bolt-Pulley IDLER 1 2.10 23772AA000 Cover-Pulley IDLER 1 2.10 73039TA020 PT211297 O-RING 1 1.62 SOA635015 Refrigerant R134A 2 39.90 73039TA040 PT211297 O-RING 1 1.62 Labor $285.00 Tax $10.81 Misc $15.00 Total $527.02 What had happened is that the idler wheel bearing wore out and destroyed the air conditioner bracket on which it was mounted. The mechanic claimed he had never seen anything like it before. I understand that mechanical failures can happen and cause a lot of damage. I was concerned about the cost, but I figured there is always a premium for work being done at a dealer and assumed that, at least, it would be done right. I also expected a discount for labor as they would have had the car apart for the 60,000 mile service. Maybe it really was $285 dollars for labor, but without knowing what they charge per hour, its hard to say what that represents. If it is $57 and hour, that's 5 hours of work. ($285 divides by 5 evenly), it seems like a lot unless they did the 60,000 service, put it all back together, then took it all apart again, then worked on the serpentine belt, and then put it all back together again. While that seems like a stupid way to do it, it seems like that is how it was billed. Far be it from me to question their billing ethics. Maybe it didn't happen that way, who can say? Just a thought. January 10, 2009 Odometer: 60556 miles My mothers car was making noise under the hood. She was worried. So I took a look. The serpentine belt had jumped a couple tracks and was being cut by the pulley wheels and strips of it were flapping around the front of the engine. I called Planet Subaru and told them we just had this replaced and would they please fix it. We dropped off the car in the morning. We were told it would be done by 5:00PM, but had to wait until about 7:00pm because they were running late. It was inconvenient, but I know that sometimes these things happen and I wasn't too upset. I remember looking at the bill, it said that they replaced the serpentine belt. The tech said the belt was defective. I was pretty damn sure that the serpentine belt wasn't defective, manufacture and inspection of these things it pretty rigorous. I suspected that they screwed up the first time. I "trusted" that they would have realized they screwed up and fixed the problem. I also expected that they would have kept it to themselves to save face. That happens all the time in service organizations, I know I've told white-lies to customers - but only AFTER making sure that everything was fixed. Seriously, the point is that a new serpentine belt was destroyed in just 600 miles, not by wear, but by misalignment. It is my opinion that a competent mechanic SHOULD have inspected the path of the belt for damage or misalignment and check the other pulley just in case. (I know I would have.) I believe most mechanics would have inspected the path on the first incident where the idler pulley destroyed the air conditioning bracket, but since it is so rare, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. February 4, 2009 Odometer: 61048 miles My mothers car was making noise under the hood, AGAIN. I looked and AGAIN I saw the serpentine belt frayed and cut, like before, only this time I saw the tensioner pulley visibly wobbling as the motor was running. So, I called Planet Subaru and informed them that it was broken AGAIN. Here's the bill: 23769AA003 Tensioner AY V Belt 1 $120.20 23772AA000 Cover Pulley-Idler 1 $2.18 23771AA000 Bolt-Pulley Idler 1 $2.18 Labor $150.00 Tax $6.23 Total $280.79 This bill is the very reason for this web site. At a minimum I believe I should not have been charged for labor. They had two incidences where they were able to inspect the pulley and either missed it or ignored it. Conclusion It took three tries to get a fairly trivial repair completed. It cost over $435 in labor alone. The money is an issue, of course, but it is not the primary issue. The issue is the safety and reliability of the vehicle. Like I said, my 72 year old mother drives this car. She sometimes transports my 3 year old daughter. I do not trust their workmanship. It is my opinion that they are either negligent or incompetent. It is also my opinion that this problem could have been detected the first time and negligent there after. read more

So my family has purchased multiple cars at this dealership and has had repairs done for the past 6-7 years. I have had okay support from the dealership when it came to warranties and repairs when it came to this particular dealership. My friends brother used to work at this dealership and got fired because he was caught persuading customers to go to his friends shop to save a lot more money then what Subaru charges (Who can blame him?). With the new dealership of Quirk Subaru in Braintree opening, prices have definitely shot up in Planet Subaru due to the lost of customers. On this, he told me what goes on inside the dealership on warning on purchasing a car and repairing: 1. Never call to check on your vehicle on problems. If you call concerning a problem with your vehicle (check engine light, warranties) the person on the phone's job is to get the customer to bring the car to the shop. If you ask if warranty covers it, the operator will need to play stupid and pretend as if they do not know. As soon as the customer figures out they are getting no where, they bring the car to the shop to further examine the vehicle. 2. Regardless, you WILL be charged. Subaru of New England has no control over the prices and charges that a dealership charges their customers. Planet Subaru charges $85 just to check on the check engine light or problems with the vehicle. This $85 is considered "waived" if the repairs are done through there dealership (Which prices are marked up depending on how well the dealership is doing and commission on parts/repairs that the department receives). If it is a simple fix, they have the "face" of the repairs (I believe his name is Matt, goatee mustache) call and explain the repairs needed. The "Face" of the company are known for speaking well in persuading a customer to get the repairs done on there vehicle pretending it is a good deal because the $85+ is considered waived, making the customer think they saved money. Every company has one. 3. Even if it IS covered under warranty, Planet Subaru NEVER checks. Regardless, there job is to receive money from the customer, Subaru of New England does NOT pay Planet Subaru. On saying this, the Customer has to call/e-mail Subaru of New England to confirm that they will pay for the repairs according to there warranty. Planet Subaru will "pretend" saying they have checked and will ALWAYS say they were denied or not covered under warranty. This is the customers job to ensure it is indeed covered under warranty. 4. Lousy repair shop. Because they Have the Subaru title, doesn't mean they will do a great job. They are known to use USED auto parts laying around the shop in order to cut ends. Be sure to ensure all bolts, covers and parts are installed onto your vehicle BEFORE leaving the dealership. If you notice a problem (Missing part) you will be charged and the "face" of the company will pretend they are unaware of any missing parts and will give a price quote on the actual part needed to be replaced. 5. Underestimate. My friend stated in order to get a customer go through with the repairs needed, they under estimate by at most $100. When you get a repair quote, they will say something like $520 which sounds much more appealing then the ACTUAL $600. This is to get the customer to do with the repairs until they need to pay. If you choose not to do the repairs, they still get your money with the $85+ diagnostic fee (Actual price for the machine itself.) 6. NEVER buy a pre-owned vehicle. The pre-owned vehicles are known to need to be repaired in the future. e.g. A transmission will fail within 10k miles, the previous owner instead trades it in, no repairs are done and they sell the vehicle at a promising price. When the transmission fails, it will need to be paid for out of the customers pocket, leaving a good time gap of negligence passed onto the customer and off the dealership. Quirk Subaru of Braintree has just opened, even tho they are competition, they have free check up (Not $85) and actual price quotes since I've switched. Customers will be suckered into Planet Subaru as soon as they drop of the car. Don't say I didn't warn you. read more

Planet is still using the same bait and switch tactics regarding service "guarantees" as Mary R., below, a couple of years ago. My daughter and her husband bought an Outback recently and were promised free routine servicing (oil changes, tire rotation). When they recently went to have the servicing performed, they were charged $180!!! Subarus are great and we recommend them, but I'd buy one from a different dealership than Planet. read more

The "Un" dealership! Cute! If you are overcome by solar panels, baby-changing rooms and an old weimaraner you might like this dealership. Planet Subaru appears to be helpful but my experience over the past few weeks buying a car there has been horrendous. If you are not going to buy their warranties, service products and "truecoat" you're going to feel it. I didn't sign up for anything, just wanted a car. I had my own financing and had done all of the research and legwork beforehand knowing exactly what kind of car I wanted. When it came time to order the car it took over 4 hours and they wanted to keep us there longer. Also, be prepared for no negotiation. They won't budge. Period. Its MSRP or higher. "Well my manager has never done this before, you can have the SALE price." (Which was MSRP! When we went to pick up the car they tried to sell us warranties for about an hour and told us to go have lunch for a few hours. When we asked why the paperwork was taking so long, and we said if this can't happen in the next hour it isn't happening, the "paperwork" miraculously appeared, from the back room... Fast forward to today, a full week later and we have no copy of our registration so we can't even drive the thing, or even get it inspected. When I called to find out where the registration was I get "I have to go out back to see if there is anyone there to do the paperwork". If you want an experience like the Coen brothers movie "Fargo" go to Planet Subaru. "Un"convenient, "un"efficient and "un"believably living up to the car salesman stereotype. Its kind of amazing to have a great new car that you can't drive... read more

They wanted $1000 down to test drive a car that would be gone off their lot for an hour so I walked out! Hey, look we are both taking a chance here-not just the dealer. I asked if I could take this car for a test drive and also swing by my local mechanic look at it- 2 min. down the street. The salesman wrote down all my info; name, address, cell phone #, took my license to make a copy. Then told me he needed me to put down $1000.00 to take it out on test drive and to my mechanic (which would take no more than an hour). I felt it was ridiculous request and insulting. The manager told me that was their policy. They said they need this money because they are taking a chance of losing a customer during the time the car is out. I told them I was taking a chance too, wasting time, missing out on other cars out there, paying a mechanic, etc. This rule did not make sense. They wouldnt budge. I left right then. Well, they lost a real customer over an imaginary prospective customer that may on some random chance come during that hour (at 1pm during a workday). read more

I bought a pre-owned Subaru Outback from Planet Subaru and the experience was absolutely horrible. I paid more than $24,000 for my car and when I asked for a valet key I was told that they couldn't give me one because they don't come with 'used cars.' The paperwork was delayed because the person that was supposed to get it together was, last minute, out of the office and no one knew what, how, or when my car would be available to pick up. I took a day off of work only to get the run around from them. Half the time, my calls went to voicemail with no call back. The kicker of my whole experience with Planet Subaru...... A month after I bought the car, my mechanic told me that two of the tires had low tread and shouldn't have been allowed out of the dealership. I went back to Planet Subaru and told them what my mechanic said and the guy at the service desk actually agreed with him and they ended up replacing three tires on the car. That is when I asked to speak to the manager (EVERY time I tried to speak to him by phone he was unavailable). He told me that I should be very happy that they gave me three new tires. I responded should never have left the lot in the first place. It was also during this conversation that I was told 'used cars' don't come with a valet key. Planet Subaru is a horrible dealership. They are dishonest, lazy, and rude. Bottom feeders get a higher rating from me than this business. read more

We really enjoyed our sales person,Houng. He was extremely helpful and streamline the process for me every step of the way. However, the signing and discussion with the financial person left us with a bad taste. I have never seen someone up sale the long-term warranty coverage So much in all my days of buying vehicles. I have owned Subarus since the 80s and I am a big fan. This guy almost badgered us into purchasing extended warranty. And he did so by telling us all of the horrible things that could go wrong with the car. Not a strong endorsement for someone just buying a brand new car. And then when we declined his response was "you're making a big mistake". I don't appreciate someone trying to make a financial decision for us; layout the issues and options and let your customers make their own decisions. Why are you trying to make your customers feel horrible about their new purchase? Fortunately Houng Rescued us and showed us all of the awesome features of our new car. read more

Bought a 2011 Subaru Outback..love the car. Both my husband and I understood we were getting the PASSPORT program with the car which we were told included all oil changes,tires,wipers,batteries as needed. I drove the car 3000 miles and returned for a OIL CHANGE. When the service was complete I was handed a $122. bill for oil change and tire rotation. Lesson learned...READ THE INFORMATION BEFORE YOU BUY THE CAR...if I continue to bring the car to PLANET SUBARU for service I could probably buy tires every year with what I spend on oil changes! It also took almost two hours for the oil change (with an appointment) . read more

Buyer beware . Neither the salesperson or their literature disclosed that regularly scheduled service is not covered when you buy a new car. This adds over $1000 to your acquisition cost over the initial 3 yr 36,000 mile "warranty". read more

I would put a negative if I could. They might as well take your wallet. The service department is so smug on top of ripping you off. I liked them when they did my head gasket under warranty. I asked for my car to be washed before I got there. I asked for it and the lady said (I'm paraphrasing here) "aww, too bad. Not like " I will take care of it sir". No big deal. A few months later, it cost me a hundred dollars to have them tell me I needed a $600.00 tune up when the engine check light came on. When I went somewhere else they told me that there was oil on my spark plugs from the previous job. When I complained I didn't get a call back until I called them a week later telling them that I will not do business with them again. The service manager was defensive and had the air he was not interested in keeping me as a customer. I find that the service people are not interested in cultivating the client / business relationship; it seems they are interested in a coffee run. Almost like they are in between jobs. One day, they may regret that stance. All for a buck. read more

The undealership should be renamed the super sleeze dealership. David - our sales person - haggled down to the penny. Ok, I can understand this. As we were reviewing the details of the deal one final time, come to find out when we said we wanted ALL of the all weather floor mats that did not include the all weather "cargo tray". They were willing to give us the floor mats, but not the cargo tray. Seriously! Am I really arguing over a cargo tray here? They were unwilling to budge. We walked away. I will never go back. Stereotypical dealership being sleezy salesmen. read more

Full disclosure - I have never been to Planet Subaru, nor do I plan a visit as PA is quite far from MA. I discovered Planet Subaru through their quite detailed website. I actually googled some general Subaru info and was led to their site. Not only did it answer my questions, I got more useful info from their website than from all my other sources combined! If they pay this much attention to their website, I can only assume they pay as much attention to their customers. More (all?) car dealers should be run this way! read more

Planet Subaru is a great place to buy your next Subaru! On one condition, you need the right salesman. I spoke with one guy Dave, and he was so unhelpful and came across as though he had no interest in selling me a car. He didn't take me serious as a car buyer. I went back a few days later and spoke with Larry, and he was the best salesman I could've asked for! He made buying a car from them a great experience. I recommend to anyone searching for a Subaru to contact Larry at Planet Subaru. He is an honest, and nice guy that will help you buy a car. read more

My fiance and I were in need of a car as soon as possible. We looked at dealerships all over the South Shore including Toyota, Honda, and Jeep. We ended up at Subaru in Hanover and Nic went above and beyond to help us find the perfect car. Nic was extremely helpful because he knew what he was talking about, he wasn't trying to force anything on us, we felt very comfortable with him, and he made every decision we had to make feel so easy. If you're thinking of purchasing a new car, I cannot recommend Planet Subaru highly enough. After five years of thinking my wife's 2003 Forester was on its last legs, we decided to put it to rest and start the search for her next car. After seeing online that Planet Subaru is solar powered, uses goats to do their landscaping, only hires people from non-car-sales backgrounds, makes an effort to hire women and minorities, and provides new tires and batteries for life, we couldn't resist checking them out first. Once we got there, we found that they also have two dog "employees" that wander the showroom. I mean, do they know how to win us over, or what? To top it all of, the "Purchase Partner" we worked with, Scott Forrester, was personable, not at all pushy, and gave us a great deal right off the bat, without haggling. So, if you're looking for a car and are at all interested in checking out a Subaru, go here first! Support an eco-friendly, quirky, ethical business and have a great shopping experience at the same time! read more

As a first time car buyer I have to say this experience was everything I could have asked for. My dealer was Scott Forrester who is without a doubt a sales god among sales men. He listened to me every step of the way and was attentive as I was waiting for the car I ordered to come in. He explained everything clearly which I needed as someone who had never bought a car before. There was no pushing, no agressive sales tactics, just helped me buy the car. I even got a good chunk off MSRP which was nice. I've been recommending friends and family to go there anytime a dealership is brought up. read more

A year ago or so, after one of our keys to a 2012 Forester was lost, This service department replaced the key and charged us $400. However, the key wouldn't start the car. Now we find that the key code has to be programmed into a security cutout switch. We were never told this when we paid for the key. We have to bring the car in to the dealer to get this done (not your normal problem, since the car is on Martha's Vineyard and the roundtrip ticket (assuming you can get a spot) is around $180) -- and then we have to pay an additional $110 to get the key programmed in. No apologies from them, despite our paying them $400 for something they must have known would not work. They seem intent on screwing customers out of every possible cent, without any regard for basic decency. If we get another Subaru, it will definitely not be from this dealership and we will find another place for servicing. Since posting this review, the Service Manager called, and was far more customer-oriented than the first person. We are to bring the car in when we next have it off-island and he said we will reach an agreement then. More to come! read more

This was the easiest car purchase I've ever experienced. I bought a used (not subaru) car from them. Their sales people are attentive, nice, and extremely accomodating. I came from out of state and was able to do all of my negotiations and most of the paperwork before I even got there. I was in and out of the dealership in 30 minutes. I cannot speak to their service department as I do not take my car here but as far as buying a car I'd highly reccommend Plant Subaru. read more

Just thought I would let you know how un-stressfull and pleasant my XV Crosstrek purchase experience was, in the last 2 or 3 months I have dealt with a handful of dealerships and seen the entire spectrum...from old school stone age to Planet Subaru which squarely resides in the new millennium. ...I usually enter a dealership with a huge grudge and a big axe to grind but in visiting Planet Subaru, I checked my "weapons" at the door and really didn't mind, very unusual for me. It just didn't hurt at all...very un-stressful, very welcoming, very helpful across the board...and no phonies, everyone seemed to be genuine human beings....tough to quantify all of it but, yes...an Undealership as they like to refer to themselves.... read more

I purchased a used VW Jetta Sportwagen that I saw on their website. I didn't even bother trying to haggle on the price because I had been shopping for this particular vehicle for some time and knew immediately that the car was very fairly priced. I arrived late on a Sunday afternoon, having gotten lost on the way . The sales person stayed late with me and did not rush me on the test drive or walk around. When I returned the following Friday to pick up the car, I learned there were no floor mats as stated on the listing. The sales person contacted a VW dealer, got the price and they cut me a check to purchase the mats. They live up to their promises. They say they will have a full fuel tank and it was. They say they will provide the inspection sticker. When they went to inspect the car, the sales person learned that they didn't have the equipment to inspect diesels, so, they cut me a check to have it inspected elsewhere. I would recommend Planet Subaru to anyone looking for a car. With their solar panels on the roof powering the business, it is clear that they care about the environment. When I saw that, I knew right away that I wanted to do business with them. I'm glad I did! read more

Very positive experience. And I came here - after having a experience at Cityside Subaru in Belmont. Pat and RJ were transparent and reasonable, and I recommend them and the dealership to others. We just picked up our first Subaru (a 2017 Outback) from Planet Subaru a little over a week ago and couldn't be happier with our new car or our entire purchase experience. We worked with Joe Harris and the finance team, and we can't speak highly enough about the entire Planet Subaru team. We never felt like we were getting pushed around by sales people looking to close the sale, rather we felt like we were working with a team ready to help us with our investment and always ready to answer our questions, work with our schedules, etc. My husband is already considering a purchase or lease with them next and we couldn't be more happy that we chose Planet Subaru for our purchase! read more

I just brought home my new 2012 Subaru Impreza 5D Sports Limited. This was my first car purchase and working with Deb Brewster at Planet Subaru was a great experience. Deb answered all of my questions and there was no haggling over price and wheeling and dealing. Deb was straightforward, and respectful. I had to do a factory order and Deb was great about emailing weekly to keep me up to date on the progress of the order. Drove down from the North Shore today to look at a car I found online that said "price negotiable". Well.....surprise, surprise they weren't willing to budge on the price and gave me a ridiculous lowball offer on my trade. I have been to 5 other dealerships that gave me a very fair prices but apparently Planet Subaru only sells cars to 3 dudes that DO NOT pay fair and competitive trade in prices. Had they given me the low end of fair price I would have bought the car right then and there. The salesman I dealt with could have cared less about me as a customer (I had a good trade and the rest in cash) clearly was not there to sell cars. I felt like I was begging him to sell me a car and would have paid the asking price if they didn't try to rip me off on my trade. Unfortunately I will probably not do business with this place again. When buying a car I want to be sold on it by a salesperson that is excited to be there. I don't even mind a little pushy but this dude was half asleep. Oh well....this experience is making me rethink the whole Subaru thing all together! read more

They call Planet Subaru the "Un-dealership" because you don't get deals here. Service as well is not good. Do your research and shop around. I have been a patron of Planet for a number of years and only go here when it is absolutely necessary for me because there is not another Subaru dealership within a 20 mile radius of where I live. I had a recall on a catalytic converter for my Outback so I called a few weeks after getting the notice in the mail to make an appointment to bring my car in. They told me that I had to wait 10 days to 2 weeks before they could get the part for my car. I thought that was kind of stupid because the dealership should be prepared with parts in advance to service any customer that will be calling in for service like this. On my own, I called another Subaru dealer in Raynham, MA. They had everything they needed already in stock and prepared to service my car the very next day. Epic fail Planet! read more

I bought a 2006 Subaru Tribeca at Planet Subaru. While I live on the northern side of Boston, I found their Yelp reviews to be positive and they had the car I wanted at the price I wanted, so I drove over an hour to get there. I dealt with Shawn. She was very friendly, though I'm wary of that when I am talking with a car salesperson. But she was in fact genuine. When the car I wanted was taken while I was pondering, they provided an even better deal. I was returning a leased Tribeca, and when I came to pick up my car and return the leased vehicle, Shawn noted that I'd forgotten to take the roof racks off so I could put them on my new car. If she hadn't noted it I'd have driven off without them. While I did the paperwork, she took them off herself (it was evening, and the service department was closed). Stephen, who handled the paperwork, was also friendly and helpful. He did talk me into buying an extended warranty, which I wish I'd researched more beforehand, but I'm okay with that. All in all, I found them to be straightforward, genuinely friendly, and helpful. I'd happily go back there. read more

Me and my wife recently purchased our first Subaru here and we are very happy not only with the car but with the experience we had buying the car. The guys here are welcoming and professional. We went through the entire process from initial phone call to coming in for a test drive to sitting down with the finance department. Our sales person Scott Forrester was very kind to us and really put in the extra effort to making sure we were comfortable and also made sure we knew about all the features our new car had. He seemed to be very knowledgeable about the cars which was nice because we came in knowing very little about Subaru's. Our financing agent was James Greene who was also very helpful in securing a car loan that worked for us and helping us to find the service plan to fit our needs. I would recommend Planet Subaru in Hanover, MA to anyone I know. We will be returning here within the next year to upgrade our other car. read more

We had to purchase a new car because we wanted to upgrade our old Subaru, from 1997, after the birth of our first child, so we rented a car and went car shopping on a cold Sunday with our 6-week old newborn daughter. We visited several Subaru dealerships in the area and were not convinced, nor pleased with the way we were approached (many were trying to gauge our budget, our older car for trade-in, had to go and "talk to their manager" several times, etc.). We were tired, wanted to go home (as did our daughter), and decided to make one last try and stopped at Planet Subaru. Lauri Blaauboer welcomed us as we walked through the door, offered us coffee, and we felt immediately welcomed. She was very straight forward about the way they do business, showed us the inventory on her screen within our price range, told us which cars could have a bit of wiggle room for negotiation, etc. She was never pushy or asked questions to try to see what to "negotiate" from us later, etc. She even advised us to sell our old Subaru on Craigslist instead of trading it in because we would get a better deal. We left and still needed to do some more research on other dealerships. We went to one in New Hampshire which offered some good prices, but we preferred the service we received from Lauri. We wrote her with an offer and within a day we were able to close the deal via email. The day we went to pick it up one of us had to go back to Boston for work and she even bought my wife lunch, while she waited for all the paperwork to go through (and fed and changed our daughter, while sitting on a couch in front of a warm fireplace). The service was excellent, but we would have never closed the deal if it wasn't for Lauri's customer service and attention. She was wonderful. Planet Subaru brands itself as the "undealership" and to our amazement it was true. read more

Extremely unpleasant experience! My wife and I were interested in a particular used vehicle on their website. So I called ahead made sure the vehicle was still available, and it was. It was actually on the showroom floor. I had asked if there was any negotiating on the price before I drive all the way there, she said not much maybe one or two hundred. She then said let me look at the inventory and see if theres anything cheaper and I will call you back. So she called back and left a message saying there was nothing else and to call her back if I wanted to still look at the car to come down and she would have it pulled out and waiting. I was still interested so I called her back and left her a message saying I am still interested and want to come down. I did not get a call back so I left home and started driving down hoping I would hear back on my 40 min drive. Never heard back so I pulled in the dealership went in and was greeted by her shortly after. She showed me the car which was still on the showroom floor and told me she can't take it out of the showroom. I was a little confused because this was the used car I was interested in and was told originally I could test drive, but OK I can understand it may be difficult to pull out. Then she said she would check out back for a similar car that I could test drive but only in the parking lot and if i like it she would then take the car out and I could test drive it. How are you supposed to sell a car if you can only drive it in a cramped parking lot. Never heard of this type of process before. Before we got to the parking lot test drive we started talking about my trade. She offered me $5,000 less than the blue book value. I had gotten a trade in appraisal from four different reliable sources, all within a few hundred of each other. Why couldn't this dealership give me a fair trade in value? At this point I knew I wasted my time and and left. When I returned home I researched some more used vehicles and found one at Cadillac Of Norwood, which was a very similar car and had the same price point. I drove down saw the car and the salesman gave me the keys and told me to take it for as long as I wanted. I loved it and better yet they appraised my trade at $700 over blue book value and a total of $5700 more than Planet Subaru. That's how you do business maybe Planet Subaru and other future car buyers can learn something from this experience. read more

In short on paper it looks like the best XC 90 I had ever purchased but in reality, it is the worst car I've ever purchased in my life Especially being a Volvo, which is usually the king of luxury and comfort at a reasonable price. The suspension is completely shot on this car. It's one of the roughest rides I've ever had. Most of the interior was broken and a lot of the wiring is wrong because random codes just turn on and off whenever they want don't be fooled by the cheap prices in low miles. In Bob's defense, he did fix the bare minimum of what he needed to fix but I personally would never buy a car from him ever go to a real dealer

When I picked up my car, The GPS was not working, The phone was not working, the radio was not working, the climate control was not working, in fact the entire screen was blank. They charged me $250 dollars and gave me back a car that was in worse condition than when I brought it in. If I had known they would be breaking my car, I never ever would have let them touch it.

This is a long review. Scroll to the bottom to see list of Pros & Cons if you're in a rush. Ok, It's been 10 years since I last bought car...Last time when I was in a stealership, it was a nightmare (Quirk Nissan) Quirk changed the terms in my contract 3 times...and I caught them THREE times. I was at that Quirk stealership for 4 hours just reading the contract. They literally tried everything and anything to scam me...including calling me 2 days later after I had my car to go in to sign a new contract for a HIGHER interest rate. (Yeah Quirk..you'll NEVER have my business again!!) Oh...and 2 years ago, I was going to buy a Range Rover Evoque (Land Rover Hanover) I customized it, ordered the car, waited 3 months for it to arrived...and the day we supposed to pick up the car, the stealership added extra $500 on to the final price. Yes, 1% increase ($50k car)...base on principle, not money....I walked out. I guess they were shocked. Anyhow...after those 2 experiences...as much I needed a new car, I wasn't looking forward to it... After numerous research & visiting several other Subaru dealership, we chose Planet Subaru based on all the raving reviews on Yelp. My husband and I were still skeptical. Our salesperson is Eric Urbanowicz - He is wonderful~~ We walked in a couple of months ago into Planet Subaru, Eric greeted us at the front desk. The first thing he asked me was if I contacted any other person at Planet Subaru, online, on phone or in person (How honest is that?? At previous dealership I went to, the salesperson will always try to "steal" other people's customer) Moving along...we wanted to try the 2018 Crosstrek in manual (Yes, I'm still a believer of manual beats automatic transmission during New England snowstorm...) They didn't have any '18 manual in stock so we test drove the '18 automatic Crosstrek and 2018 manual WRX - Eric was patient, he wasn't pushy. I know the 2018 Crosstrek inside out because I've been doing months of research online, but he knows his stuffs (unlike most car salesperson). Few things he wasn't sure he honestly told us he wasn't sure & went to do some research and get back to us. Anyway, fast forward, Hubby and I went to different Subaru dealership (Quirk Braintree) to test drive the 2018 manual. The salesperson knows NOTHING about the car and he was extremely pushy...and the manger there, literally, wouldn't let us leave even after we told them we are there to only test drive the manual. And at the "best offer" they gave us...they purposely left out the $915 destination fee. How sneaky? Well...we're back at Planet (went to Braintree just to test drive the car). The negotiation with Eric was quick, to the point - no hidden numbers, no hidden fees. We agreed on the numbers and yay~~ car ordered. Ah...I also had a car for trade in...I know I won't get much for my car, it's a 2006 VW GTI (and I didn't). I brought my car into Planet 2 weeks before the Crosstrek arrive to get an estimate. Fast forward 2 months later when we pick up the car and trade in my old one, even though the second hand car market dropped like a rock, Planet still kept their words and gave me the price we agreed on 2 weeks ago. We met with 2 finance managers, Jamie and Dave. They both are wonderful~~ Jamie explained everything in details, she showed us all the packages that we could get, telling us all the terms, costs...etc. not pushy at all...just facts. And Dave stayed late last night just so we could finish all the paper works (I took my sweet time checking the car...for scratches, stain, paint, accessories...etc) My Hubby and I are nerds (he's physicist working at an investment firm and I'm an engineer buying energy) so ofcourse we have our own spreadsheets with tax, finance, and all the dollars calculated...etc. Our dollars, match to the PENNY~~ Both my husband and I are pleasantly surprised, we were pretty floored by this experience. Originally my husband wanted to get an Audi for his next car but now he's considering getting a Subaru at this particular dealership just because everything was so painless & pleasant. Summary: Pros - - Trustworthy!! (Trust me...I'm not an easy person to please...) - Knowledgeable (Again, I'm a nerd. I do my homework and these folks know their stuffs) - They have DOGS...(I got greeted by 4 dogs yesterday...I'm a happy customer) - Professional (The "un-dealership" is true) - No hidden fees, no hidden cost (we did our own math, everything tied out to the penny) Cons: - It was snowing last night. I wish they kept my car indoor until I pick it up. I asked Eric to move the car indoor so I could do my "inspection". It was difficult because the car was wet, but it's all good. I even asked him to check the tire pressure and he did. -Wish Eric told me I could add orange stitching to side panels of my door where I paid extra for leather. Kinda disappointed to find out AFTER all the leather were installed. In short...HIGHLY recommend Planet Subaru =) read more

I've been a repeat Planet Subaru Leasor and Service customer since 2008; I've had to once or twice go to my "closer" Subaru dealership to do routine service, just for convenience and curiosity if there was a "difference"--and the answer is "YES!"---all auto dealerships visited with relatives, myself as stated are NOT like a Planet Subaru in the sense of true, relaxed, no-pressure from "Sales Staff" who don't even ask, approach you with "May I help you with something/car you're interested in today?"--type lines; you can walk in like any other customer just waiting/hanging out on the showroom to peruse the cars available, and the sales staff really don't intimidate/bother you at all!---You would really have to stop a staff to ask a question IF you needed to---I'm not saying Planet Subaru staff no matter what their job title "ignores" you---it's just not their business "philosophy"--Planet Subaru's motto is and want to be known as "your Undealership"--they don't where name pin/tag with job titles; no one wears a "shirt & tie" or even dress slacks; They have comfy lounge area; their dealership is so casual, down-to-earth; some of the staff/Owners bring their own dogs to the job regularly, and the dogs become part of the "family", walking around, hanging out by their owner's desk in the pet beds, and the dogs are a JOY to see and pet! Their pet dogs/cat professional-quality, casual photos are hung in the waiting areas. Just go onto Planet Subaru's website to view their entire, very educational topics of the Subaru's cars in comparison to each other and other Model/Make, when undecided, i.e., the difference between a Subaru Crosstrek vs. Forester, etc. You can learn a lot!---NO other auto dealerships regardless of Subaru puts out so much free, insightful, customer-oriented, upfront educational material on their websites! Planet Subaru is very transparent and post photo and bio history of all their wonderful and kind staff; you will note that none of the "Sale Staff" had official "car or sales" jobs or education prior to their current position at Planet Subaru. Also, Planet gives complimentary car washes and interior vacuum regardless of inclement weather, should customer opt to, as well as no extra charge (besides refilling used gas) Subaru loaner vehicles for unexpected or prolonged car service. (No other "non-luxury" car dealership offers these services!---I can attest, as my daughter HAD an older Honda serviced at local Honda dealership, and she picked up her dirty car in same condition car was dropped off for expensive repair services, multiple times! I can't say enough excellent things about Planet Subaru; it is worth the 30 miles each way for scheduled service and time for new leased vehicle. You just have to plan your servicing time/day accordingly and expect the normal 2 hours wait just like any other time one has to service their car, regardless of what dealership/local auto repair shop; just bring a book, phone charger, and chill--that's all. :-) For the record, I've dealt with Deb Brewster since Day 1 when I interacted with her 10 years ago at Planet Subaru, and although her job has evolved and been promoted since, and she doesn't handle the actual in-person car sales transactions anymore, she has always assigned the "perfect fit" staff to assist me with my leased vehicles every 3 years. I make it a point to always stop by her glass-windowed, shared office just to say: "Hi Deb!", to check on how she and her family have been, and rave about how much I like my current leased Impreza, or now Crosstrek, and I'm just in for servicing type chats. She is so genuinely kind and helpful, and was Planet's first female sales staff over 10 years ago---I've felt that was so important as being a Single woman who has to independently acquire a vehicle at an auto dealership, it's less intimidating, and women just "understand" each other better on thoughts and issues about things. Deb Brewster is a true asset! I also want to give a "shout out" for the Customer Service Desk Staff who are always calm, polite, pleasant, professional, and explains technical/servicing things in non-confusing terms, and fully disclose no pressure suggested, Auto Technician's service recommendations to the customer (which I've also overheard to other awaiting customers nearby); Nicky and Matt Ryan have been there manning the Servicing Dept's Front Desk for at least the 10 years since I've been a Planet Subaru customer. read more

Here's a summary if you don't want to read my novel: AMAZING EXPERIENCE, HONEST, NO PRESSURE, EXTREMELY FAIR PRICE, PUPPIES, FUN. I drove to Planet Subaru thinking two things. 1) I wish I didn't have to get a new car (Mine was part of the VW TDI recall) and 2) I really don't want a Subaru. I had already test driven the VW Alltrack and loved it but made myself visit Subaru to at least compare it to another wagon option. The doors opened and I was immediately greeted. (This didn't happen at VW. My husband and I awkwardly stood in their lobby waiting for someone to acknowledge us). We met Scotty Forrester and he immediately offered us a coffee and brought us to sit down. On our walk to his desk we passed a puppy sitting by another desk as it's apparently okay to bring your dog to work at Planet (major bonus points). Scott was fantastic and took his time explaining the differences in models. He was never pushy, extremely knowledgeable and completely honest. He encouraged us to test drive both the 4 & 6 cylinder models and we were allowed to go without him lurking in the back seat. Upon return, I told him I was shocked with how much I loved the car but I would not be purchasing today. I wanted to wait for my refund check to be cleared by VW first. He was beyond understanding. Again, no pressure at all which I could not say the same at the end of my VW test drive. (VW even hounded me after our test drive with phone calls and emails and hinted that their "loyalty deal" would be expiring soon to get us to decide more quickly). Scott gave me a packet of information and a business card for another co-worker since it was his last day on the floor (He is now working as a Business Manager there). Scott actually brought us over to Joe Harris so that we could meet him and feel comfortable working with a new face upon our return. About three weeks later we turned up again ready to buy. Joe was right at the front desk and actually remembered us and the car we were interested in despite the fact that we spent less than three minutes with him weeks before. Impressive, right? Again, we were immediately seated (not far from the same puppy as before!) and offered a beverage. After we let slip that we had limited time (infant at home), Joe made the smoothest and quickest transaction imaginable. He's a Dad and totally understood. He listed a price that was beyond reasonable and we immediately accepted. This was a shock since my husband and I literally tried to strategize "bartering tactics" on our way to the dealership. WE DIDN'T HAVE TO! The price they offered was amazing. The rest of the transaction was just as painless. We actually got to know Joe well and it felt like we had been friends for years. We laughed. A lot. For a process that I dreaded, we were actually having fun. Jaime McGuinness continued this laid back approach that Planet seems to have. She helped close the deal and help figure out our finance options. Not once did I feel pressured or uneasy about the decisions that I was making. Overall, this was one of the most pleasant experiences I've had making a big purchase of any kind. I couldn't recommend the Planet dealership more. No one in my family or husband's family has ever owned a Subaru and I couldn't be happier with my decision and the location that I chose to purchase it from. I purchased two cars from Planet Subary in 2007, which I purchased at the same time. They are a 2008 Tribeca, and a 2007 Impreza WRX STi. These are two of the best cars I have owned. The sales process is very different from other dealerships, which is very refreshing. I worked with Deb Brewster, and the process was starting with the invoice price of the car and go up slightly, understanding that it is a business and they need to make some money. (Most dealerships start on the retail price, and go down as little as possible.) I was very satisfied with the price I paid for the two cars. I'm sure they were also thrilled to be selling two cars in a single transaction. I have taken both cars to Planet for every service. First of all, I am very happy with how I am treated by every member of the service staff. Whenever I have an issue, the service person I work with listens carefully to understand my issue, and then works with my on resolutions. I really like the loaner car program. I don't always take a loaner car, but it's nice to know it's there if I need it. I saw another review saying they never have loaners available, but I have never experienced that. If I make an appointment ahead of time, I have always been able to get one if needed. I don't always take the loaner, because of the waiting room that Planet has with the office. I often take the first appointment in the morning, then I park myself in the office with my laptop, and get some work done. It's quiet and I enjoy this. This makes sense to me since I work in Cambridge, and I usually avoid the morning traffic waiting for the service to be complete. Planet offers tires for life on cars purchased from them. I have taken advantage of this numerous times, and it's great. If you have replaced 4 tires on any car, I don't have to tell you it's expensive these days between the cost of the tires and the installation. At Planet, they cover everything, I have paid $0. Soon after I purchased my STi, Planet changed it's policy, and doesn't cover the STi for tires for life. However, they grandfathered me into the program, and have honored tires for life for me. I appreciate this gesture. I have also taken advantage of the batteries for life, although this is usually not much of an issue. I have done it once on each car, as the batteries went around 6 years old. Brett Quinn exemplifies customer service. I often arrive at Planet early on a day I go for service. If I know I'm going to be early, I can let Brett know, and he'll come in early so he can let me in and let me use the office to work. He has also worked with me on some repairs that have been in the grey area of being covered by warranty. I think they will try to explore every option to help a customer out that has an issue with their car. I can tell you that my next cars will be purchased at Planet. read more

My wife and I recently leased a 2020 Outback and a 2020 Ascent from Planet Subaru in Hanover, MA. It was our first time working with this dealership, and it was by far the best car buying/leasing experience that either of us has ever had. We have each leased our last 5 vehicles, so between us that adds up to a total of 10 leased cars over the past 15 years - and those leases have been with Nissan, Honda, Toyota, and now Subaru. None of the dealerships or salespeople that we have worked with in the past have come anywhere close to the excellence that we experienced at Planet Subaru this time. In fact, prior to this we had begun to absolutely dread the process of getting new leases. Thanks to our past experiences at various other dealerships, we had come to regard the entire process as a soul-crushing chore every three years due to: hard and aggressive sales pitches, lack of transparency, questionable truthfulness, financial tricks and games, and a general lack of respect for ourselves, our time, and our preferences. Thus, we cannot stress enough how completely different and comparatively awesome the entire process was this time around. Everyone that we dealt with at Planet Subaru (including Sales Manager Jaimie McGuinness, Scott and Derek from the Business/Finance area, and our outstanding Purchase Partner Klaire Perkins) was excellent. Everyone was welcoming, sincere, friendly, helpful, polite, professional, honest, transparent, and determined to earn both our business and our trust. We especially cannot say enough good things about Klaire Perkins, who is quite simply the best car sales associate that we have ever encountered. Klaire was always: honest and transparent with us, highly responsive to our emails/calls/questions, extremely respectful of our time and our wishes, and happy to go the extra mile to do any little thing necessary to make this as positive an experience for us as possible. So far we love our new Subaru leases, and we definitely cannot say enough positive things about both Klaire and Planet Subaru. In 2013 I decided to give Planet Subaru a try because they are a very generous supporter of Standish Humane Society where I volunteer. I really loved the Forester! The visibility was unbelievable and the comfort and ease of handling was top notch. Fast forward to April of this year. I had been toying with the idea of purchasing a new Forester especially because of all the new safety features. Klaire Perkins was there to help me find my "perfect" car. I finally decided to buy a demo car that was in the showroom. Klaire was so helpful! She explained everything including giving me lessons on how to use the features it came with. This past April I drove out of Planet Subaru's parking lot in the car of my dreams. She explained each feature and showed me how to use everything! I was even more grateful that David Spellman in the business office advised I get the tire protection. One day I happened to notice the air pressure was low. I drove into Planet Subaru and they immediately said they would look at the tire. Imagine my surprise when I was told they found a nail in the tire that could not be repaired. Even more of a surprise was that I drove away that day with a new tire at NO COST. Six months later in September, I parked my Subaru outside a post office. To my horror, a lady had accidentally hit the side of a car, probably became so nervous that she rammed into my car. It was a total loss. Heartsick, I immediately called Klaire and told her of my loss. I wanted the same color car with the same features. Unfortunately, the new 2019 Forester did not offer the same color as my 2018. Planet Subaru was able to locate one of the last 2018 Foresters in the color I wanted with all of the same features. Everyone at Planet Subaru did whatever was necessary for me to get another dream car. Thank you to everyone at Planet Subaru for being there for me at a very difficult time. Also, thank you, Planet Subaru for your commitment to the community and to animals. I will be buying another Subaru when the time comes. Fingers crossed it won't be in another six months. I want to take this opportunity to compliment and recognize two of the extraordinary members of the service team at Planet Subaru: Andy Ryan I have had a number of positive interactions with Andy over the last couple years and every time I come into the undealership he greets me by name and with a warm smile. He is such a pleasure to interact with and one of the many reasons I continue to service my vehicle at Planet. I have never met a more genuine team of service professionals in my life and Andy is a shining example of this. This morning's visit to Planet was another example of Andy welcoming me to Planet regardless of whether he will be coordinating my vehicle's service for the day. I really appreciate that and feel so valued for my business with Planet. He is a true gentleman! Allie Webb Allie welcomed me into the undealership this morning for my scheduled 60,000 mile service. She was, as she always is, very welcoming and friendly. I always feel like I am leaving my car in very capable hands. Allie takes the time to clearly explain the details of the service and makes sure I am fully aware of every important detail. Later this morning she contacted me to advise that my driver's side front tire should be replaced due to a puncture on the sidewall that I was unaware of. She suggested that an alignment be completed as well with the replacement of the tire and also provided a clear service recommendation for fuel injection service. I was so impressed by how knowledgeable Allie was and how accommodating she was with the use of the Passport loaner vehicle. Since purchasing our 2015 Subaru Outback, I have been a fan of Planet Subaru. From Sales to Service, my wife and I have been treated like a valued part of the Planet Subaru family. It is because of the unprecedented level of service from people like Andy and Allie, that we will continue to service our vehicle at Planet and plan to purchase many more Planet Subaru vehicles in the future. read more

Like many of the posts I have read here, I've experienced the awful service and treatment from Quirk in Quincy when I owned a Chevrolet Equinox. I switched to the Best Chevrolet dealership in Hingham for my service and liked them quite a bit but the vehicle was a piece of junk with very pricey maintenance. I felt it was time to try a Subaru and I was sure glad I did! The Sales & Financial Manager at Planet Subaru in Hanover worked with me every step of the way. They really understood my needs as well as knowing the product they are selling. The quality of their vehicles well surpassed my expectations. Between the handling of their vehicles to the solid construction with plenty of safety features, I am still impressed 5 years later! Brett Quinn the service manager has gone above and beyond for me even with the silliest concerns over the years. The Service team gets me in and out in a very timely manner and there are plenty of comfortable areas to sit and wait while your vehicle is being serviced. They even have a quite office space with a computer if you need to catch up on emails or just a quite space to surf the web. I really like the fireplace area with the big comfy leather chairs. When Blue the dog comes by for a visit, it feels like home. And don't forget the FREE coffee! I am especially impressed that this UNdealership is fully powered by solar power! I highly recommend this dealership if you plan to purchase a vehicle or service on your existing vehicle. read more

I had no idea where to begin when looking for a new car, but I knew I needed AWD and I was told Subaru would be a good place to start. I remembered Planet Subaru in Hanover and after reading through dozens of reviews, speaking to Subaru owners, and comparing to a few other brands/models that I was considering, I knew I wanted a Subaru and that Planet was where I wanted to buy from. The experience I had with Planet Subaru absolutely reflected every compliment and positive review I read about this dealership (or "undealership"). They truly work as a team to create the best possible buying experience and you certainly feel like you're working with a "purchase partner" rather than buying from a sales person. I absolutely love my car (as well as the Passport Program membership that came with it) and am thrilled to know I'll be in good hands when servicing my Legacy at Planet. I would definitely recommend checking them out if you're considering a new car, whether you have any interest in an AWD vehicle or not. I was very surprised at what they had to offer and how simple they made the whole process, and I'm beyond satisfied with the whole experience. And maybe it's just me, but I think the fact that they bring their dogs to work and have a solar panel coffee table speaks to the character of the company as a whole :) Check them out! read more

My wife and I went to Planet Subaru in the market for a new car. It was the first new car we had ever bought, so we weren't sure what to expect, but Planet Subaru did not disappoint! We worked with Bob, who was very friendly, knowledgeable and zero pressure. When we test drove cars, he would tell us about the car and point out some features, and then let us take the cars out alone. We landed on the 2013 Subaru Impreza because it's fun to drive, 36 MPG and AWD. Unbeatable. Bob helped us select a package that would allow us to take delivery of the car as quickly as possible (this was important because I was starting a new job soon). When we went back to pick up the car, Bob gave us a thorough walk-through and pointed out the features - and he even set up my phone to connect to the car's Bluetooth. We got a great financing deal and the dealership took care of everything - plates, registration, cancelling our old plates, and called the insurance company. They also let me leave my old car there to donate it to the Special Olympics. I didn't have to lift a finger and I already got my tax receipt. I can't say enough positive things about this dealership and the people we worked with there. My wife and I had such a good experience, we actually went back to Planet Subaru for a second Impreza a few months later! read more

Not like your typical car dealership. They didn't try to force any sales on me, I knew which car I wanted when I went there and they were very friendly and polite. They took care of a lot of the little annoying things for me like insurance and getting plates and they saved me a trip to the rmv. I also love that they have a dog there who walks around and you can pet him. Bonus points for that. When I bought my car there I had to order it since it was brand new, I was really excited to get the car and they called me immediately once it arrived. By the time my car had arrived they had all of the paperwork sorted thru and all I needed was to sign a couple papers and I was able to leave with my brand new car. My only suggestion is to not opt for the passport program. I originally signed up for it and it includes free tires and free car washes with a couple other goodies as long as you get your oil changes and maintenance done there. What they didn't tell me was that the free tires were only for normal wear so when I got a nail in my tire they wanted to charge me $290 for a new one. Also the services are really expensive, so that program really isn't worth it. Other than that, this is an excellent dealership and I will be back when I'm in the market for another new car. read more

They say they are the Un dealership and its true! We have bought a few cars over the years and this by FAR was the easiest. no pressures, no "let me talk to my finance manager" crap. They started out with the best price ( and it was a lot lower than N.A.D.A ) explained all the fees and gave me a complete total within 3 emails. They explained all my options from financing to service contracts with ZERO push to buy, they just wanted to make sure I understood all the features and benefits of everything. They came to me for the test drive and let me take my prospective car thru its paces for over an hour, Laurie was happy to let me drive this thing loaded with my kids as we drove all around and fell in love with our new to us car. They ran the carfax report, gave me all the maintenance records from the previous owner and even put the car on a lift and took pictures of the undercarriage to calm my possible fears of the underneath being a rust bucket ( it wasn't, they really seem to be picky on what gets re sold and what goes to auction ). The whole thing from start to finish couldn't have been easier. DON'T hesitate to shop and buy here as Planet Subaru is not your typical car dealer, they are so much better. Car buying is usually a trying experience for me. I know what I want, and how much I will pay before I walk in the door. We either transact cash for car...or not. As simple as this plan seems it's rare when it happens. The atmosphere of the Planet showroom was casual even though people we negotiating for what for most is their second largest purchase after their home. It's unlike the tense "boiler room" feel of many dealerships. The people are pleasant and very "un-car salesmanlike". Our salesman Eric Ubanowicz had in depth product knowledge and knew the function of every button and widget and had endless patience explaining them. He was polite and respectful of our time. He always followed up with helpful information at the right time. Our price discussions were quick and the out the door price was exactly what we agreed to with no surprise "doc or availability fees" at delivery. I'm confident we got a very good price on a limited availability car. However we didn't buy the "price", we bought the quality of the vehicle and the relationship with the dealer that will be taking car of it for the next few years. So the purchase was as good as it gets. I'll check back with Service Dept. experience in the future. read more

No Pressure Atmosphere, Friendly and Knowledgeable. I stopped in to Planet Subaru on a whim with my girlfriend this weekend because she is in the market for a new vehicle. She doesn't know exactly what she wants yet and doesn't need a car immediately so we were nervous about getting pressured into a purchase. We were pleasantly surprised when we were able to walk their entire lot without interruption by a salesman. We then decided that we wanted to test drive a WRX, so we went inside the showroom for help. Scott Chandler met us at the door and dropped what he was doing to help get us in a car, despite the fact that it was only 1 hour before closing time on a Saturday. Even after we told him that we were just starting our search and that we lived north of Boston, Scott was very helpful, and explained the ins and outs of leasing vs. buying, and how difficult it is to find an automatic WRX. He was very knowledgeable and spent 45 minutes with us even though he knew that we wouldn't be buying a vehicle with him. If I lived closer to Hanover, I would go back to Planet in a heartbeat and work with Scott again. If you are considering a Subaru, go talk to Scott and the team at Planet! read more

I absolutely LOVE this place! I walked in and got greeted by two dogs named Pabst and Blue, like what?! Yes please! Can I just move in? Then I got to meet Lisa, the internet sales women who I was speaking to online about a Crosstrek that I wanted to test drive. She was lovely, and personable and set me up with Nic, one of the purchase partners. Nic chatted with my husband and I about what I was looking for and he was very honest, knowledgeable, and kind throughout the whole experience. I did not feel pressured at all which was truly a lovely experience considering every other time I have ever went to a dealership I felt like running out and never looking back because of the pushy employees. I didn't end up buying the Crosstrek that day, but that was only because I decided that I would save up for a bigger deposit so that I could have lower monthly payments. I will 100% be returning to Planet Subaru to purchase a vehicle soon and I can't wait to go back! I have never felt more comfortable and pleased at a dealership before, and I would absolutely recommend Planet Subaru in Hanover to anyone who is looking to purchase a new car! I am so happy someone told me about checking out Planet Subaru to buy a new (used) Forester. I went to a previous dealership (Cityside) where I immediately felt like they only wanted to sell a car for the commission and told me the car I was looking at had "just sold" even though it was online for days afterwards and the manager said it was available when I called a couple days later. They also pushed me into buying a particular car (the most expensive new-used car). I worked with Derek from sales at Planet Subaru who treated me like a human; he listened to what I needed/wanted in a car, was understanding, and didn't push me at all in making the decisions along the way. The price for the car was very reasonable and I was able to get a very good trade on my old Forester. I was able to decide on buying the car and was given a good loan payment option within one short visit. The entire process was smooth and they explained everything along the way. They even helped with registering the car-thank you, no trip to the RMV! I would highly recommend the drive to Hanover! Coming here saved me thousands of dollars! And they are dog friendly! read more

this is our third subaru purchased from planet so i might sound biased. while i am sure if we spent hours on line or driving from dealer to dealer we might find a better price but i doubt we would find a dealership that truly appreciates its customer base. our salesman, scott forrester was a perfect example. i met scott when i assisted a friend buy her new forester ( despite his name , scott knows the entire suby line and im sure would be glad to sell you an outback as well ) and his quiet informative manner made my friend, who dreaded buying a new car, very much at ease. we knew what we were looking for before we went in as planet's website is up to date with inventory and prices and gave scott a call. its a busy place so a call before going over is recommended scott met us, found us a plate and let us try two models of the forester we were interested in. no pressure, no back room deals and no raised platforms for the management to peer over your shoulder! we signed the papers picked up our car and didnt feel like we had been taken advantage of. if youre in the market, planet, and scott, forrester, should be tops on your list. read more

I recently purchased a used Subaru at Planet, and despite being very leery of going to a dealership, I had a great experience. They truly are a no-pressure organization; I emailed about two possible vehicles and there was no push to sell me the more expensive model. My salesperson gave me plenty of time to go over the car and make my decision. When it came time to take delivery, she even helped me set up my bluetooth and once again gave me time to say goodbye to my old Subaru. The finance team understood I had my own financing already lined up, and while they did try to offer their own as an option, they didn't overdo it and simply let me know their rate and let me decide for myself what to do. Additionally, when I discovered later that a pair of cosmetic lights weren't working (they were passenger side puddle lights so I never noticed...), I had no problem bringing the car in and getting the lights fixed for free. Everyone at the dealership seems very accessible and friendly. Overall, a very good experience at this dealership if you're the type of person who doesn't want the hard sell, typical car salesman schtick. read more

If you're looking for a traditional dealership, go elsewhere. The entire sales, deliver, and service experience with them has been amazing. I did almost all negotiation over the phone and through email before I went in to drive the car. There was no pressure, EVER. They even let me take the car out on a test drive on my own (I hate when salespeople sit shotgun and fiddle with nobs while I'm trying to get a feel for the car). A day after I took delivery an electronic module failed on the car, nothing critical, but annoying idiot lights came on. When I called them they were incredibly apologetic. The service manager called me directly and said they were going to send someone to my office with a loaner vehicle and transport my car back to the dealership for diagnostics. It's a new car and there is sometimes a "break-in" period. I dealt with this with a new VW I bought, though they treated mechanical failures as a chance to sell me a new car. All in all I would HIGHLY recommend Planet. I dealt with both Deb and Dennis, though the entire staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. read more

I'm not a Subaru owner myself, however, I have a very dear friend who recently purchased her Subaru from Planet Subaru. She could not say enough positive things about her experience with Planet Subaru and her Outback. From the friendly, pressure free sales experience, to how neat and clean the showroom is, to the fantastic service department, a definite 5 star dealership. And she loves her Subaru Outback! She's already driven to Florida and back with her dogs twice. We all know Subaru people are pet people. I told her I was aware of Planet Subaru from their continued and exceptional donations to Standish Humane Society in Duxbury where I volunteer my time. Without Planet Subaru's generous donations to Standish we would have a difficult time providing many of the pet related services we perform. I say kudos to you Planet Subaru for giving back to your community and making people happy for many different reasons! And when my present vehicle is paid off I just might be in to see you for a ride in a WRX. Always wanted to take one of those for a spin. ;) read more

I had some issues with my transmission and Kim confirmed it was under warranty which I didn't know about. I bought my car here 10 years ago and glad to know that some things are still covered! Once they knew my repairs may take a while they immediately put me in a free brand new CX5 rental. They send updates by txt msgs which works way better than playing phone tag. I've tried going to a few other service places to save some money but they don't always do the greatest job. Glad I came back here and could not be more thrilled. I'm actually really digging the rental and may consider buying it (I know they did this on purpose!)

I was sold a car with scratches all over the hood. she said there is nothing we can do about it so right now, another dealership is fixing that and she told me now that another Mazda dealer is touching my car they can no longer touch my car at my original dealership which isn't true.
