Crispy CRIPSY BBQ SEITAN BURGER (V)
    Dan B.

Teensy tiny little place serving vegan and vegetarian food with many Asian options. It's basically just a kitchen with a register so you can only order for take away. They have breakfasty items as well as lunchy and dinnery things. Plus smoothies and desserts if you want something sweet. The food comes out fast and there's usually not a crowd of people outside waiting, so it's an easy spot for a quick pickup. I wasn't expecting the food to be that good, but the bbq seitan burger was amazing! Not only was the seitan smothered in bbq sauce (and a tasty one at that), but there were tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, VEGGIE BACON?? AND another extra secret sauce! It was so messy but delicious! I think this will be my go-to spot any time I'm in this area.

5 stars from my vegan bf 4 stars from me (non vegan) We ordered two bahn mis, some delicious garlic fries and a juice which he highly recommends Everything was very flavorful and well seasoned. I preferred the beyond beef bulgogi bahn mi and he preferred the seitan one- to each their own! He loved his carrot beet banana juice and really recommends it! delivery was quick. This place is made for delivery and is very small inside

Wasn't a fan of the dumplings or the fact that I paid $17 for them + fries. Feels like a fast food place without the fast food prices. Still, I suppose if you didn't have any other vegan options around this would suffice.

Oh my god. This place is a game changer. I was visiting my parents in the city and looking to order something for lunch when I stumbled upon this place on Uber eats. I'm vegetarian so I completely lost it when I saw their menu. They have everything I can't usually order like a gazillion buns, dumplings, rolls, subs, wraps, etc ALL VEGAN!!! Like, these are things that are usually completely off limits for me. Typically, GF and I binge together so I can use the excuse that I'm ordering for the two of us when I order enough food for a party. Unfortunately, I was just ordering for myself but I came up with the idea to order extra to "bring home for later". Needless to say it took me an inappropriate amount of time to narrow down to what I actually ordered which was the vegan beyond bao buns, Seoul pancake dumplings, and char siu banh mi. I haven't had the bao buns yet but they look like they could be on the cover of a food magazine. The Seoul pancake dumplings were INCREDIBLE. The sauce they provided for dipping was literally so good I had actually planned on using it to season some fried rice but GF threw it out so I will have to hold a grudge over that for the next 12 hours. The banh mi was delicious as well. It was stuffed with shredded daikon radish (initially thought was onions and almost gave myself an aneurysm), carrots, jalapeño, cilantro, cucumber, and soy meat. I do wish there was a little more soy meat but I was pleased with the amount of veggies. If I fucking lived within their delivery radius it would not take long for me to try every single thing on their menu.

Yum!!!! It's the vegan/vegetarian place this neighborhood has sorely needed! Seems a little expensive BUT everything is super fresh and portions are big. Did the Vegan Smoky Tempeh Avocado Wrap for lunch - crispy tempeh, creamy avocado and crispy chips and more avocado (!) - guac on the side. For dinner, tried the Seoul Pancakes Dumplings (my favorite) and Beyond Dumplings - both come w a delicious chili red sauce that has the perfect amount of kick without overpowering your dumpling. Had the Sesame Medallion for my entree - soy chicken, w brown rice, teriyaki sauce and kale. I can see myself ordering here every week because it's so nice to have creative and delicious options that are usually meat based elsewhere so I can't eat it. Everything is packaged nicely too. Takeaway only. Correct direct line is: (917) 261-7940 to order without fees.

Some of the very best vegan food I've ever had, not cooked by me hahaha. I was in utter shock at how meaty everything tasted. There's not a bad thing I can say about anything I ate. It was prepared quickly, served hot and tasted great. Note, this is not a sit down restaurant. It's just a storefront that caters to takeout / pickup orders. I used Uber ways to love my order. I cannot stop raving about this place!

The IMPOSSIBLE BANH M (VEGAN) is great! One of the best banh mi's in nyc and I am not a vegan. I always look forward to the store's seasoned impossible meat, fresh vegetables, and fresh baguette. 10/10.

Really truly incredibly take out hole in the wall. I'm not exclusively veggie, but I would be a happy man if this were as popular as McDonald's. A MUST TRY. bring your meat eating friends here, they'll be blown away. Had the banh mi and the impossible cheesesteak and both were absolutely incredible. Nice staff. Delicious food!!!!

A Hidden Gem That Completely Changed My Perspective on Vegan Food…read more Yesterday was my first visit to Le Botaniste, and I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. The storefront and fresh drinks first caught my attention, so I thought it was mostly a juice or beverage spot. The moment I walked inside, I realized it was so much more. The restaurant has a warm, inviting atmosphere, and everything looked incredibly fresh. You can immediately tell they take pride in the quality of their food. The highlight of our visit was the exceptional customer service from Alan. He welcomed us with a smile, took the time to explain the menu, answered all of our questions, and gave us recommendations based on what we were looking for. His knowledge and enthusiasm made choosing our meals easy. Alan recommended their most popular bowl, the Pasta Bolognese, and mentioned it was also his personal favorite. After just one bite, I understood why. It was rich, hearty, full of flavor, and if no one had told me it was vegan, I never would have guessed. It has officially become one of my favorite plant-based meals. For my mother, Alan recommended the seasonal Mediterranean Bowl, and it was another excellent choice. I asked her if she enjoyed it, and her response was simple: "Yes... and I want more." That pretty much says it all. The drinks were also fresh, refreshing, and paired perfectly with our meals. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on their drink menu. Even if you're not vegan, don't let that stop you from trying this place. Le Botaniste proves that plant-based food can be comforting, satisfying, and packed with incredible flavor. A huge thank you to Alan for making our first visit such a memorable one. Great food is important, but great hospitality makes people want to come back. Needless to say, I'll definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu.

Friedman is an absolute must-visit if you are looking for an incredible burger in NYC. I honestly…read moredid not expect to be this impressed, but this ended up being one of the best burgers I have ever had -- and quite possibly the best burger of my life. I ordered the burger with cheese, and everything about it was perfect. The burger itself was THICK, incredibly juicy, and cooked beautifully. You could immediately tell that the meat was high quality, and knowing that they use Creekstone beef made it even better. The flavor was rich and beefy without being overwhelming, and every bite was incredibly satisfying. The patty had that perfect combination of a beautifully cooked exterior while still being extremely juicy and tender inside. And the bread deserves its own paragraph! The brioche-style bun was excellent. It was soft, slightly buttery, and substantial enough to hold the thick patty without falling apart or becoming soggy. It complemented the burger perfectly rather than taking away from the meat. The combination of the juicy Creekstone beef, melted cheese, and that excellent brioche-style bread was honestly phenomenal. What really stood out to me was how substantial the burger was. This wasn't one of those thin burgers where you finish it and immediately feel like you could eat another one. It was thick, hearty, juicy, and incredibly flavorful. Every bite felt like you were getting exactly what you want from a great burger. The fries were also excellent. I really appreciated that they weren't overly fried or greasy. They had a great texture and were crispy without feeling heavy or excessively oily. Sometimes fries can completely overwhelm a meal because they're so fried, but these were much more balanced and paired perfectly with the burger. Overall, Friedman absolutely exceeded my expectations. The burger, especially with the cheese, was outstanding, the Creekstone beef was incredibly flavorful, the brioche-style bun was excellent, and the fries were the perfect accompaniment. If you're in NYC and love burgers, this is a must-go-to. I would absolutely order this burger again and would highly recommend Friedman to anyone looking for a thick, juicy, high-quality burger. Easily one of the best burgers I've ever

The atmosphere is super sweet and cozy. The restaurant was empty when we first walked in, but the second we sat down, it completely packed up! The waiter was very friendly, and even though they weren't able to split the check at the table, they did provide an itemized receipt to make figuring it out easy. The food was great overall--the Mac & Cheese bites and the corn were especially good! We also tried the cheesecake and molten cake. Plus, the neighbors sitting next to us were so sweet. A wonderful spot with a fun vibe!

I came on a weeknight with a reservation, was seated right away, and sat at the bar before a Broadway show. The bartender/server was very nice, attentive, and helpful when I asked for recommendations. I ordered the carrot bisque, scallop paella, and a lavender martini. The food was flavorful, and it was my first time trying hearts of palm. I'm not vegan and eat seafood, so I wasn't expecting the "scallops" to taste like actual seafood. They were made to look like scallops, which was a fun touch, but the texture was different. Overall, the paella was enjoyable and made for a unique dining experience. The lavender martini was interesting, but not for me. It had a floral, citrusy flavor that reminded me a little of perfume or floral soap. It wasn't unbearable. It was just not my personal preference. Service was efficient. Definitely on the pricey side and feels more like a treat, but life is too short to worry too much especially for a nice meal before a Broadway show. I'll definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

Since we were there for brunch, I decided to try the P.S. Breakfast ($22) which is tofu scramble, spinach, portobello mushrooms, and corn muffins. My friend got the P.S. Burger ($20) with a gluten-free bun ($2). For the breakfast, the portobello mushrooms were the highlight of the dish. They were very juicy and had strong umami flavor! I love spinach even plain, but I think it could have used a touch more seasoning. The tofu scramble was seasoned, but it could either use more seasoning or more moisture. The corn muffins were dry and crumbly, definitely the worst part of the dish. My friend said that the sauce brought the burger together and hid the fact that it's a Beyond burger. She also mentioned that she didn't feel heavy after eating the burger, which was nice. Despite us telling the restaurant that we had to go to a musical, service was on the slower side. My friend also had to try several times to get to the bathroom, since someone was always inside. However, the staff was friendly and made us feel welcome. I would only recommend P.S. Beyond Sushi was in Midtown near where I was staying, so I ended up coming here---on Valentine's Day, which happened to be a mistake! Since I didn't have a reservation, the lady who checked me in told me I had to find a seat at the bar. Her attitude was not the best, as when I looked over the menu and made a decision on what I wanted to get, she dismissed me when I waved her over, saying she is not the person taking orders. Um, okay? Then who is? One guy at the bar was nicer, and was able to take my order. I started off with a hot tea since NYC was cold in February, and then decided to have as much as I could of two dishes---the "chicken" yakitori skewers and the Korean BBQ skillet. The skewers came in a set of two, with a white mayo-like sauce drizzle and pickled cucumber on the side. Super delectable, though very filling because of the protein! The skillet was made with classic Chunk Foods protein, the go-to plant-based option for all the meat dishes at City Roots restaurants as far as I know. This was incredibly filling, but the sauce and the texture were all around delicious as well. I could NOT bother to finish the brussels sprouts the skillet came with---way too much to stomach, and I was going to focus on the "meats" since I can always have brussels any other time! The bill by the end of it was PRICEY. That's why I only go to one of these restaurants as a special treat when I visit NYC. Watch out if you order hot tea...$13!! I guess that's the NYC way, but still!
