I've been to Sentir twice, and it's been one of the best nyc restaurants I've been to in a long time. It just has that something-special quality- there's a good premise (veg/vegan mexican food makes so much sense), nice ambience, extremely yummy drinks, and a solid vibe. The first time I got a reservation with a friend; the second time I walked in and sat solo at the bar. Both times I had very friendly, helpful service. I've tried tacos (with vegan chorizo, don't see it on the menu at the moment), a quesadilla, and if I remember right, the fried mushrooms. They were all great - the tacos were amazing. And both times I/we got the churros, which are FIRE - I'm not even a dessert person but I highly highly recommend getting them if you like churros / cinnamon / chocolate at all. This is a lovely spot for a date, friends' hangout, parents in town, but maybe a little small to expect a big group to fit nicely. It was loud but not too loud. Expensive for sure but it feels really nice, not just a regular overpiced spot. And I'm not a vegetarian (neither is my friend), so take that into account. read more

My husband and I had such an incredible experience at Sentir that we ended up going back the very next day... and honestly, I'd do it again tomorrow if we didn't have to head back to NJ! Sentir is 100% vegan, and I would confidently bring even my carnivore friends here without hesitation. If nobody told you it was vegan, you'd simply think you were eating some of the most creative, flavorful Mexican food you've ever had. It's that good. From the moment you walk through the doors, you can tell this isn't just another restaurant. The atmosphere is warm, stylish, and inviting without feeling pretentious. Every member of the staff was incredibly kind (thanks Camila who served us both days!), knowledgeable, and genuinely excited to talk about the menu and the other restaurants in the group. Their passion for what they do shines through in every interaction. The food completely exceeded every expectation we had. Every dish was beautifully presented, packed with bold flavors, and unlike anything we've had before. We found ourselves talking about every bite and immediately discussing what we'd come back to try... which ended up being less than 24 hours later. We were so excited by the food on our first visit that we completely forgot to take pictures! (It became a complete afterthought because we had already scarfed everything down. ) Thankfully, we redeemed ourselves on day two! The cocktails also deserve their own standing ovation. They're creative, beautifully crafted, and every bit as memorable as the food. If you're looking for a restaurant where every detail has clearly been thoughtfully considered from the atmosphere and service to the food and drinks, Sentir absolutely delivers. We travel to NYC often and almost never eat at the same restaurant twice because there are so many amazing places to try. The fact that we chose to come back the very next day says everything you need to know. Sentir has officially earned a permanent spot on our "must visit" list every time we're in that part of the city. What We Ate (and absolutely LOVED): Sentir Guac - Easily one of the freshest and most flavorful guacamoles we've ever had. It was served with chips and a deep fried tofu that was reminiscent of a "chicken skin" or something along those lines. I've never tried anything like it and it was good and unique! Carne Asada Tacos - Perfectly seasoned with amazing texture and incredible flavor. Al Pastor Chicken Tacos - Sweet, savory, smoky, and absolutely delicious. Cream of Corn - I wasn't expecting a bowl of corn to stand out the way it did. It was warm, comforting and cheesy. I just wish it came with something to dip with. Unfortunately too much was dripping through the fork and I wanted to savor it all! Chile Rellenos - Beautifully prepared with layers of flavor in every bite. It was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth! Tamal de Carne - Tender, comforting, and packed with incredible flavor. What We Drank: Sentir Michelada - One of the best my husband ever had. The chose Modelo as the beer Little Pitcher - This was a bunch drink. It had grapefruit & orange juice (among other things) but it was shockingly unique and dangerously easy to drink. Café con Ron - The perfect twist or play on an espresso martini but a million times better! Nutty Olivia - I believe this was on "special" and it was a mooth, creative, and another cocktail I'd order again in a heartbeat. It contains gin, which my husband doesn't like but he must have stolen at least 3 sips before I told him to worry about his own drink! Final thought: If a restaurant is good enough to make us skip trying somewhere new in New York City and instead return the very next day, that's about the highest compliment we can give. Great experience at Sentir. I posted up at the bar alone and was immediately greeted with friendly service by the bartender. I ordered a drink and a chile relleno. The drink came out right away and was good, but expensive. The chile on the other hand was excellent and filling. The flavor was surprisingly unique and the impossible meat filled the pepper perfectly. The ambiance was cool, definitely date night energy. I'll be back! read more

I was out running errands and had to take my medication which requires food and I remembered I was near this place. I've been wanting to try it for a while so I decided to stop in for a quick appetizer. I got the arepitas because I loveeee chunk steak and they were so good. The sauce was the perfect pairing and even finished that whole bowl too lol! I was by myself so I sat in the window, the wait staff was very nice and attentive which I loved. I hate when I'm dining alone and waiters just forget about me since I'm solo. But my waitress kept checking on me and wrapped up so quick I didn't feel like I wasted my time sitting around waiting for someone. She was so sweet too! My only complaint is that it wasn't even 7 pm but the volume of the music was so loud I couldn't hear myself think, I'm talking nightclub level loud. And it really wasn't that crowded on a weeknight so the people that were dining were practically screaming at each other just to have conversation. It kinda killed the vibe a little bit, I'd expect that music volume on a later point in the night like maybe after 9 pm, but it was very early like 6:45 when I went. Also the stairs going to the bathroom is very dark, and I was worried I'd trip and fall near the bottom, I think they should put a little lighting down there for safety reasons. The food is so incredible, innovative, satisfying, beautiful, and you will feel filled and nourished by all the delicious goodness. So I gotta do repeats on my favorite spots, so for my 3rd time visiting I had the tomato tortilla soup, the grilled Caesar salad, and my favorite mushroom tacos. Happy to report it is still good, especially the tacos (though by the time I got there, I was full and could only eat the filling of my second taco). Went with the Living & Dreaming mocktail that gives pina colada vibes and skipped dessert cuz I had Venchi chocolates waiting at home. Not sure if my bartender/waiter was the very same Alex from last time, but he remains kind and attentive (and let's be honest cute). I don't know why I keep trying it, like I will one day find one I like. The fig preserve on this was delicious though. My friend and I checked out @sentirnyc, a Mexican vegan spot in NYC (you might recognize their sister restaurants, Anixi and Willow ), and wow, I was blown away. My friend ordered the albóndigas (braised meatballs) which came with two vegan fried quail eggs that actually had a runny yellow center. Yep, yolk and all. I don't know what kind of culinary sorcery that is, but they nailed the taste and texture of real eggs. We also split the champiñones fritos (fried oyster mushrooms), which were smoky, crispy, and super satisfying. They came with an avocado crema on the side which was creamy, cool, and perfect for dipping. I wasn't expecting to be obsessed, but here we are. For my main, I had the arepitas--mini arepas filled with pulled vegan steak from chunk foods which was scarily realistic and meat-like. If I didn't already know the brand, I wouldn't have guessed it was plant-based. The arepas were buttery, the vegan mozzarella melted beautifully, and the whole thing just worked. Portions were generous (honestly, the apps were plenty filling as a meal), prices were super fair, and the food? Creative, flavorful, and comforting without trying too hard. The food, presentation, and service were excellent. They were informed of my nut allergy and the server was very articulate about which foods to avoid. The guac came with fried bean curds which was interesting. I got the tamal con carne. Everything had a nice, deep flavor. The carne asada may come off weirdly realistic for vegetarians and vegans. Best vegan birria tacos are here!! I was very impressed by the food at Sentir. My friend found this spot and I'm always more than happy to try vegan food to see how chefs reinterpret common meat based dishes in innovative ways. The host was very welcoming and sat me right away. I flipped through the drink menu and thought it wasn't really friendly to non-drinkers. When she got there we had asked what our options were and they had 3 mocktails at the end of the menu. We ordered Guava Limeades and two mains to share: Chicken mole and Birria tacos. The mole was pretty tasty but the "chicken" texture was a bit chewy for me. I fell in love with the birria tacos though. The "steak" was on point and Adobo consommé is magical. I'd dip anything in that consommé, it was so so good. The servers were lovely and attentive, and the dimly lit restaurant was like a cool lounge. Overall a great dinner experience. After my experience at anixi, and with the owner's response to my review listing his additional restaurants, I was running to the next suggestion. Sentir caught my eye so I had to try it out. I am so glad that I did. My server was exceptional and personable. He was attentive and answered all of my questions and offered amazing suggestions. I want to start off by saying how lovely the vibes of this restaurant are. The ambiance is date night ready! Super beautiful lighting and oh my god the music ! I couldn't stop dancing in my seat! I had a glass of champagne and my girl got a tequila flight which felt really special. The bartender explained in detail the notes of each mezcal and how to truly savor the flavors of each which I thought was a beautiful and thoughtful touch. Okay, now the food, o m g ! DELICIOUS !!!! We were convinced to order this based on our server's recommendation. It makes a great appetizer to share between two people. The vegan steak is marinated in spices and pulled to give it a meat like taste and texture without being overpoweringly umami forward. The avocado and mozzarella add just the right amount of creaminess while the salsa is tangy and fresh. - albondigas (9/10): soy based meatballs in a poblano sauce topped with vegan fried egg served with corn tortillas. Although this comes under the "entradas" section, the portion is good to feed one person. It could also be shared if you decide to get a bunch of smaller dishes and do family style. I was most amazed by the vegan egg which I later found was by a brand called Yo Egg. It oozes like a fried egg yolk and has the salty taste that egg has. The poblano salsa is spicy but not overwhelming. The tortillas are very thin and make the perfect vehicle for sopping up the juices from the skillet. - grilled chicken enchiladas (9/10): two tortillas filled with marinated vegan chicken and bathed in a salsa verde. The highlight of this was definitely the salsa verde. It is tangy and lime forward which offsets the richness from the other dishes we ordered. This place is truly inventive and magical. I don't personally like vegan things that try to imitate non vegan things but this place did it so well. Tried the salmon ceviche and it really did taste and look like salmon. The benedict also had a fake egg that really seemed like a real egg to me. Pros: The ambiance is very chill and I appreciate that Latino music is played. The grilled chicken enchilada is a must have, I really enjoyed it. The tuna ceviche is refreshing and flavorful. The beef taquitos are also full of flavor. The vanilla ice cream was creamy and refreshing. The service was good. Cons: The drink I had it was a bit sour and did not really like it. I have been going to all the chefs restaurants and this one is a bit more expensive for less food, but I get it. The tres leche is the reason I took off a star. I was so excited to try this. As a Latina I know what a tres leche tastes& looks like. Obviously I know that a vegan version is not going to be exact, but it was very cake heavy and not wet like how a tres leche should be. The "whipped cream" did not taste good at all. The sponge of the cake wasn't bad it just wasn't 3s leche. What a great addition to Chef Guy's (City Root Hospitality) list of restaurants! Being a loyal Beyond sushi customer, I was super excited to try this vegan Mexican place. True example of modern twist to Mexican cuisine. We were returning from Hamptons and found this one place open till late. Yes they are open until 11:30pm over the weekends! We went in at 10:45pm and pretty much had the restaurant to ourselves - quite a private experience. Lol. Love the ambiance - such a cool, hip and trendy look with beautiful artworks and murals! Started off with coconut ceviche - yum!!! What a refreshing taste it had! Loved the creativity of how ceviche can be made vegan and healthy, still to tasteful. Then we had spicy chorizo tacos - an absolute flavor bomb!! It did transport us back to our amazing Mexico City vegan food truck experience. This was our favorite. It just had all the right flavors packed in. From the mains we had Grilled Chicken Enchiladas. This one had the soy chicken which had an amazing taste. We are usually not a fan of the green sauce which comes with Enchiladas but loved theirs as it was not super tangy for our taste bud. The service was great! They were quite attentive and responsive. The only downside is $17-18 for 2 tacos felt a bit expensive. So yes the overall prices are a bit on higher side and the place cannot become a casual regular. Occasionally - YES! read more

This was a wonderful experience. Very delicious plant-based authentic Mexican food that you really can't get anywhere else. All the dishes were top-notch. We had the Birria tacos, chile relleno, Caesar salad, mango salsa, and chips and to top it all off the chocolate mouse tart. I love them all, but the tacos were ethereal. I don't even know how to describe them, especially with the consumme dipping. I don't even know how to describe the dessert. You just have to order it. Sentir is a newish vegan Mexican restaurant with an upscale vibe in Flatiron perfect for a nice night out.  We ordered: Three Cheese Empanadas - I don't love fake cheese, so these weren't my favorites, but the fake cheese taste wasn't as overpowering as others I've tried. Elote Asado - These were great, but also left a slight aftertaste of fake cheese. Also, this is served on the cob (sliced pieces) so corn will get stuck in your teeth!  Arepitas - These were my favorite app with a nice balance of flavors and a delicious aji sauce for dipping (or pouring!). Pescado Frito Tacos - My favorite dish by far! The banana blossom and garnishes were perfection. Grilled Chicken Enchiladas - This was my least favorite dish. There was way too much fake meat, so I couldn't taste anything else.  Chile Relleno - This was also a disappointment. Too much rice in the filling, which made it dry and underwhelming.  Overall, the dishes are hit or miss, but I love the concept. Also, they have a great happy hour if you're able to make it in time! If you're vegan or vegan curious, I would recommend trying at least once. read more

Siete may come off stronger in flash and concept than execution, but the allure of 100% vegan and Kosher Mexican cuisine is tough to pass up. We did our Cinco De Mayo dinner here and were greeted and seated quickly on a busy evening. The menu spans some familiar offerings (tacos, chiles rellenos, mole), all made without animal products. At any Mexican restaurant, I seek out a good mole, and Siete's didn't disappoint: the texture of the "chicken" held up well to the mole, which carried the depths of spice and flavour, while the handmade corn tortilla was charred in just the right places. My girlfriend's order of pescado frita tacos (fried banana blossoms in place of the fish) were crisp and paired well with the smokey chilled elote. Unfortunately, the order of birria tacos we split was a miss: the flavour of the shredded "beef" was overly soy and the melted "cheese" was too thin and oily. While the dusting of cashew based cotija was a nice touch, the consomme for dipping didn't pack much flavour. Dessert fared much better: the lime carlota (vanilla crust + cashew lime cream + condensed coconut milk + lime gel + crumbled vanilla wafers) had the bright, intense flavour of the best key lime pies. read more

I read about this restaurant a few months ago and have been curious to check it out. My friends and I finally went for dinner last week. The service was pretty attentive and the food was excellent! We were really impressed with how flavourful everything was and we didn't miss the cheese or meat on the entirely vegan and Kosher menu. The guacamole and chips were a delicious starter. I had the oyster mushroom tacos: lots of colour and all the different textures and flavours paired really well together. My friends ordered the quesadillas (so good!) and the echilada, which I didn't try, but my friend cleaned his plate.
