    SPICY TUNA ROLL
    Juls X.

My vegan / vegetarian friends and I love this place. It's very good plant based food. I've taken my meat eating friends here and they were surprised by how good it was. Definitely sign up for their rewards program because you get a free birthday dessert. The ambiance is great albeit a bit noisy when the dining room is full. Definitely a great date spot or somewhere to catch up with friends. Service is also excellent. They'll bring the dishes as they're ready! Order and share so you can try more items. My favourites are the udon noodles (so creamy!!), spicy tuna roll, tuna nigiri, and matcha cheesecake. This visit I tried the lemon matcha cookie sandwiches, one of their specials. Must try if you like matcha! One of the best matcha desserts I've had.

I am not vegan. If it weren't for our friends who are, and having eaten already at the kopino fest, we probably would not have gone. Funny enough, we met our only other vegan friend there. So, from the vegan perspective, this is a popular and tasty place. We started with drinks, being lunchtime, we opted for non alcoholic drinks, the matcha colada and the salty maple macchiato. The matcha colada had a nice color but tasted mostly like coconut and pineapple which was still yummy. Friends ordered 3 different kinds of sushi and dan dan noodles with tofu. I was confused with the sushi as I thought vegans didn't eat fish...so yes I asked and was told that they probably made the "fish" with tapioca. I did try a bite of each roll (I was still full from the fest) and I was surprised that it tasted pretty good. They did a nice job with the roll and presentation. The matcha cheesecake was nice and creamy. I would not have known it was vegan. I don't normally like food that pretends to be something else because it usually doesn't live up to the real thing. The idea is that it is not pretending to be something but rather substituting with vegan options, I do think from a health perspective, I am more open to trying more vegan foods. Ambiance felt upscale and wait staff were helpful and congenial. I hear dinner time gets packed here. I may have to try again when I have not eaten already.

Came here for happy hour and it was so good ! We had the mezcal ginger drink and the margarita. For food we devoured the unagi eggplant with a delicious truffle touch. We had the spicy tuna roll and the crispy rice, both amazing although the toasted coconut detail on the spicy tuna took it over the edge! Service was delightful with Miguel as our bartender. He maintained conversation and recommended both the crispy rice and the mezcal drinks which were both hits. Ambiance was great with a cooling down and low exposure vibe on a sunny and warm day. Will certainly be back and bringing friends !

Tucked away and worth the find! This little gem was near an errand I was running and glad I found it. The team members are all great! They take pride in their restaurant's offerings, as they should. My server was wonderful, offering suggestions to this first-timer. I started with a Volcano Roll - hearts of palm substituting for fish. Well balanced and delicious. Next was broccoli "beef" - fresh broccoli and shitake "steak" with mushrooms really balanced the dish. I ended with something so unnecessary and so wonderful, I'm glad I did it: The sticky toffee pudding. Just pure delight. It was relatively quiet when I was there. I could see how it could get a bit noisy if it were crowded. But even so, the people who visit are friendly and I ended up having a great conversation with the table next to me. I'll be back. I'm not exactly local, but it's definitely worth the trip! Planta is on my faves list now!

I came here by myself at 5:45 before a 7pm show and I had plenty of time. I was the first person to be seated downstairs that evening. The lights were low and the tables were quite close together. The service was prompt but thorough and the food was delicious. Thankfully the server suggested a side of steamed rice to go with the "beef" and broccoli. Together it was delicious.

How do I love being able to order anything off a menu without any tweaks!! PLANTA Queen Nomad offers just that as a premier vegan restaurant! And you cannot go wrong with their menu! The cuisine is Asian flair and it does not disappoint. We started with the crispy gyoza and bang bang broccoli and I cannot tell you which was better because both were fantastic. The gyoza had the perfect crunch with the softness of the cabbage filling. The broccoli was seasoned to perfection. For my entree I had the beef and broccoli which was quite satisfying and tasty. There was tofu sprinkled throughout the dish which gave a nice variation of texture but did not really add to the overall flavor of the dish. My husband had the Korean chicken sandwich which I tasted and it was amazing. I'd definitely order that for myself upon return. For dessert we shared an amazing carrot cake that melted in my mouth. It was tremendously flavorful with the right combination of spices. The restaurant on the whole I had two levels. The top is a bit noisier than the downstairs which is where we ate. However much to the set up of many restaurants in tight spaces, tables were quite close to each other. Another small issue I had was the lighting that would change periodically...not sure why. At one point it was so dim I could hardly see my husband across the small table!! Gladly they adjusted it relatively quickly, but it just seemed odd to have changed suddenly. Despite the proximity of the tables and lighting, PLANTA is a must go to especially if you crave vegan Asian fare.

Grabbed a late vegan lunch with a friend at Planta Queen in Nomad, Manhattan NYC. Favorite dishes (they were outstanding) were AVOCADO BEETROOT TARTARE pine nuts, citrus soy, sesame, cilantro, taro chips And RED DRAGON ROLL carrot salmon, avocado, pickled watermelon, masago, spicy mayo. Dan Dan noodles, fried mushrooms and general d cauliflower was just OK. Service was quite good. Seated immediately. We were stuffed after these dishes. #vegan #gf #glutenfree #vegetarian

Still love this spot! I went for their lunch special, it was $28 for two courses, app and entree. We shared the dragon roll, bang bang broccoli for apps and the mains the Singapore noodles and the poke bowl. I loved all of the dishes. I really needed a veggie download and Planta always hits the spot for me.

Manhattan, NY (NoMad) - there's no shortage of outstanding vegetarian & vegan restaurants in NYC these days, and I'm all here for it! I don't do dry January, new year's cleanses or resolutions (there are 12 months left of the year to disappoint myself with - why rush into it), but after a gluttonous holiday season, it felt righteous to clear the slate and palate with something more wholesome. The Asian inspired, plant-based dishes here are full of flavor and tickled our tastebuds. My appetite demanded something heftier than the well-touted vegan sushi, so I ordered a noodle dish: an udon bathed in rich and umami truffle mushroom cream, and could've licked the bowl clean! I opted for a protein add-on of "steak" (unfortunately they ran out of the crispy chick'n cutlet that I'd originally wanted), which was less interesting, made of textured bean curd sheets that lack muscularity and chew - I'm fond of them as a popular Asian pressed-soy snack, but am partial to a beefier kind of fake meat product if it's to be sold to me as steak. Despite the impressive simulacra of flesh marketed by the imitation meat industry, haute vegetarian cuisine tends to explore the flavors and creative qualities of fresh produce and non/less processed plants, grains, nuts & seeds, and legumes, in a way even dedicated carnivores can appreciate, so don't fear missing out on meat or "meat." The surprisingly simple bang bang broccoli is bangin'! And a crowd favorite. Definitely get that. The avocado beetroot tartare and crispy rice were excellent as well. My dining companions variously ordered sushi, fried rice, and other noodle dishes, and all were happy with their meals. Service was very warm and knowledgeable. When we asked our waitress Stasia for recommendations, she rattled off a list of items and their attributes, gamely answering our questions and clearly knew her way around the menu. "One of everything please!"

Tons of vegan options and perfect place to go with your friends. When we ordered the noodles, one of them was completely missing salt but the waiter was super helpful and accommodating. Bang bang also didn't hit like usual but everything else was amazing. Because of the number of options, recommend going with a group so you can eat family style.

Decor has a sophisticated look and nice color scheme. It would be a pretty date spot. The food came out quickly and was tasty. My observation is that rather than closely imitating real meat, I can still feel the food is all plant-based, which doesn't bother me. The beef was chewy but tasted a bit like mushrooms. For the 1000-layer potato, I didn't like the faux cream, but liked that the faux caviar wasn't fishy, and the potatoes were crispy.

TOGO STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING for the birthday guy!

We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday and the overall experience was amazing! Most specifically regarding the food and the service. However, they're only getting 4 stars from me due to the horribly uncomfortable layout this restaurant has, which I'll review at the end. However, it's important to note that when you arrive, you'll find the host stand in the MIDDLE of the restaurant, towards the end of the bar. It's in such an awkward spot. We had to wait about 10 minutes for our table (despite having a reservation) and there was no where to stand where we weren't in the way. We were either blocking the bar, blocking the entrance to the kitchen or blocking the walkway for people to get by. It was soooo awkward and weird. Not the best place to put a host stand... We're vegetarian, this 100% vegan sushi restaurant is perfect for us as we know we can order anything from the menu and be "safe". We started our meal with the 1000 Layer Crispy Potatoes (recommended by our server) and they were delicious! The perfect amount of sauce combined with the crispness of the potatoes made for a beautiful start to our celebratory meal. Next we indulged in the Red Dragon Roll and the Volcano Roll. Both of which were equally impressive in texture and flavor, we had a hard time deciding which was our favorite between the two. Still hungry after sharing these three menu items, we decided to order the Kimchi Baos. I was a bit skeptical because I'm not a fan of kimchi, however I was surprised at how much I enjoyed them! I really couldn't tell that they had kimchi on them, however they did have a unique flavor that makes them worth ordering again. Additionally, I loved the combination of the crispy fried mushrooms and the soft texture of the bao bun. Lastly, our server surprised us with a Sticky Toffee Pudding on the house to celebrate my husband's birthday! That was so nice and it was actually pretty tasty considering that it wasn't made with eggs. I typically don't enjoy Vegan desserts, but I'd say this one was an exception. Okay, now to the issue with the floor plan here.... The tables are CRAMPED everywhere in this place and they are arranged in such an awkward manner. Where we were seated was definitely one of the worst spots in the entire restaurant. Our tiny little two-top table was on the end near the area with the coat racks....and was next to a table that had someone in a chair sitting in the aisle. To help you get a better idea of the issue: the person in the chair took up half the aisle, meaning every time an employee or guest walked by (which was OFTEN) they had to awkwardly squeeze by and try not to knock into us while doing so. It was so annoying. What's worse, they have these horribly awkward setups with the tables in the middle of the restaurant where there's a little half wall thing in between us and the table next to us....but it was merely inches higher than the table itself. This meant that we were basically sharing a table with the people sitting next to us. Again, this was awkward and uncomfortable because the table next to us had 3 women and a baby who were not only incredibly loud, but they were letting the baby throw food all over the place. Had the floor plan not been so terribly arranged, this would've been a 5-star experience. Instead, we spent the evening trying to ignore the chaos around us. Note to the owners: figure out a new floor plan that is COMFORTABLE for the people eating here. Yes, your current layout is "cool" and has a nice vibe, however it's not functional in a way that is relaxing for your guests.

Highlight of our trip to NY! Just one word-- spectacular! This restaurant was very close to our hotel; given how frequently this came up in our searches, we ended up making an excellent decision. We got the mint lemonade and What are you waiting for, and for starters it was the 1000 layer crispy potato with caviar and bang bang broccoli. Vegan caviar was Wow. Wasn't too sure about the coconut foam as the nuttiness was overpowering the flavors. Bang Bang Broccoli was superb. The Red Dragon Roll sushi with carrot salmon and spicy miso was excellent-- just too good! The truffle fried rice was mind blowing. It had the right flavors.,The Dan Dan noodles were not as spectacular as all the other items but still good. 100/100 for the variety of items on the menu. Service was also a 100/100. Our waitress was really sweet. Service was very quick! Highly recommend for anyone looking for one of a kind vegan food!

We also shared the Kalbi, which are Korean short ribs, and they were outstanding. All three of us were on the same page about those. My son added two salmon tacos to the mix. He enjoyed them but said they did not hit quite as hard as his Mew Special Roll, which was clearly the standout of his night. It features raw tuna and what I believe is a combination of salmon and seared salmon on top. Either way, that sear flavor is really good. Worth trying if you get the chance. The space was lively and busy, which gave it a great energy. We ended up at a long communal table with another couple, but it never felt cramped or uncomfortable. There was enough room to breathe and enjoy the meal. My son mentioned his back felt a little tight from the seating, but that was a minor thing in an otherwise great night. Izakaya Mew delivered on every level. Great food, great atmosphere, and a dinner I am already looking forward to repeating

Great tasting food that will surprise. Tried the toro taku crispy rice, it was a recommended item,…read moreand this one surprised me the most. Great variety of textures and taste. The creamy kimchi udon was ok. It didn't feel like one dish, but tasted good. The una don was great. Good sauce and blend of supporting veggies to enhance the taste. Service was super quick. Everything was rapid fire: order taken, food comes out quick, water gets replinished before asking, plates are taken the moment they are finished, and check comes immediately after asking for it. Interior was cramped and loud. Really fitting as many tables as they can in the space. I saw others mentioning to make reservations. I went without one and got lucky. There was a table opening 30 minutes out. Would recommend having one, but you can definitely try walking in. First come first serve basis Overall, solid spot for great tasting food. Great for smaller parties of 2, but expect it to be tight with spacing
