    "Beef" and Broccoli
    Monika K.

Got their plant powered lunch. It includes your choice of 1 starter and 1 main dish. Everything on the menu is vegan/plant based. For the starter, I had the spicy "tuna" roll which had ahi watermelon, avocado and toasted coconut. This roll was just soo good! You can't even tell it's vegan. Will definitely get it again next time I'm here. For the main I had the "Beef" and Broccoli which was wok seared shiitake 'steak', tofu and sesame. Still very good dish and the shiitake made very realistic steak, but the spicy tuna roll was definitely the star of the show.

Still great! This time I tried the Watermelon Lime and Basil mocktail and it paired perfectly with everything. Make sure to get the matcha cheesecake if you can! Service was great and the restaurant was the perfect place to stop in for a weekend lunch. Heads up - they do brunch from 11am to 3pm

I am not vegan. If it weren't for our friends who are, and having eaten already at the kopino fest, we probably would not have gone. Funny enough, we met our only other vegan friend there. So, from the vegan perspective, this is a popular and tasty place. We started with drinks, being lunchtime, we opted for non alcoholic drinks, the matcha colada and the salty maple macchiato. The matcha colada had a nice color but tasted mostly like coconut and pineapple which was still yummy. Friends ordered 3 different kinds of sushi and dan dan noodles with tofu. I was confused with the sushi as I thought vegans didn't eat fish...so yes I asked and was told that they probably made the "fish" with tapioca. I did try a bite of each roll (I was still full from the fest) and I was surprised that it tasted pretty good. They did a nice job with the roll and presentation. The matcha cheesecake was nice and creamy. I would not have known it was vegan. I don't normally like food that pretends to be something else because it usually doesn't live up to the real thing. The idea is that it is not pretending to be something but rather substituting with vegan options, I do think from a health perspective, I am more open to trying more vegan foods. Ambiance felt upscale and wait staff were helpful and congenial. I hear dinner time gets packed here. I may have to try again when I have not eaten already.

    MATCHA CHEESECAKE

Came in on a Sunday afternoon and sat at the bar, the atmosphere was exactly what I needed. Quiet, relaxed, not too loud or busy. A really nice vibe overall. The service was excellent. My bartender Lewis/Luis was incredibly attentive, frequently checking in to see how everything was going. He also recommended the Avocado Sushi with truffle miso to go alongside the Bang Bang Broccoli I had already ordered, and it was a great call. The Bang Bang Broccoli is good the tempura is well done and the sauce is delicious but after a couple of bites, the sauce starts to overpower the broccoli and becomes a little too saucy and salty. I found myself reaching for water more than I expected. The Avocado Sushi had a really beautiful smoky, rich flavor, though I do wish they'd pack a little less rice. With so much rice in each piece, it's hard to get a balanced bite cutting it down by half would make it perfect. The Matchatini was a standout. Creamy on top, with just the right amount of alcohol not overpowering at all, just enough to complement the matcha. As tempting as it was to order another one, I wanted to savor the moment, and I'm glad I did. For dessert, I had my eye on the Matcha Sandwich Cookies with ice cream, but they were sold out. Fellow reviewers saved the day though, pointing me to the Matcha Cheesecake and they were 110% correct. That cheesecake did not disappoint. Though it didn't seem to be a lot of food but I couldn't even finish it on my own so I got it to go.

Holy moly!!! What did we just experience on our wedding anniversary?! I had heard so much about this place and had been dying to try it for years. I never got the chance when we were in DC, so it was at the very top of my list for this NYC trip--and wow, it exceeded every expectation. As a vegan, this place is absolute heaven. We ordered three entrées because we wanted to try as much as possible, fully expecting leftovers. Nope. Every single plate was wiped clean. We had the Chili Crunch Ramen, Dan Dan Noodles, and Pepper Steak Lettuce Wraps, and they were unbelievably delicious. The Crispy Gyoza lasted about a minute before disappearing. For drinks, my Kombucha Mojito and Pom & Get It were fantastic. My husband loved the Sunday Beer Light so much that he ordered a second one. And then came dessert... The Chocolate Brownie and Matcha Cheesecake were the perfect ending to an incredible meal. The food, drinks, atmosphere, and service were all top-notch. If you're looking for an elevated vegan dining experience in NYC, this place is a must-visit. It's definitely on the higher-end side, so I'd recommend making a reservation in advance. 10/10. Already dreaming about my next visit.

My vegan / vegetarian friends and I love this place. It's very good plant based food. I've taken my meat eating friends here and they were surprised by how good it was. Definitely sign up for their rewards program because you get a free birthday dessert. The ambiance is great albeit a bit noisy when the dining room is full. Definitely a great date spot or somewhere to catch up with friends. Service is also excellent. They'll bring the dishes as they're ready! Order and share so you can try more items. My favourites are the udon noodles (so creamy!!), spicy tuna roll, tuna nigiri, and matcha cheesecake. This visit I tried the lemon matcha cookie sandwiches, one of their specials. Must try if you like matcha! One of the best matcha desserts I've had.

i'm not vegetarian and will say the vegetarian sushi here kind of blew my mind. I was like 95% convinced by the watermelon tuna which is truly insane. definitely need a reservation on a weekday night. the olive oil carrot cake was interesting..not my fav.

Came here for happy hour and it was so good ! We had the mezcal ginger drink and the margarita. For food we devoured the unagi eggplant with a delicious truffle touch. We had the spicy tuna roll and the crispy rice, both amazing although the toasted coconut detail on the spicy tuna took it over the edge! Service was delightful with Miguel as our bartender. He maintained conversation and recommended both the crispy rice and the mezcal drinks which were both hits. Ambiance was great with a cooling down and low exposure vibe on a sunny and warm day. Will certainly be back and bringing friends !

Manhattan, NY (NoMad) - there's no shortage of outstanding vegetarian & vegan restaurants in NYC these days, and I'm all here for it! I don't do dry January, new year's cleanses or resolutions (there are 12 months left of the year to disappoint myself with - why rush into it), but after a gluttonous holiday season, it felt righteous to clear the slate and palate with something more wholesome. The Asian inspired, plant-based dishes here are full of flavor and tickled our tastebuds. My appetite demanded something heftier than the well-touted vegan sushi, so I ordered a noodle dish: an udon bathed in rich and umami truffle mushroom cream, and could've licked the bowl clean! I opted for a protein add-on of "steak" (unfortunately they ran out of the crispy chick'n cutlet that I'd originally wanted), which was less interesting, made of textured bean curd sheets that lack muscularity and chew - I'm fond of them as a popular Asian pressed-soy snack, but am partial to a beefier kind of fake meat product if it's to be sold to me as steak. Despite the impressive simulacra of flesh marketed by the imitation meat industry, haute vegetarian cuisine tends to explore the flavors and creative qualities of fresh produce and non/less processed plants, grains, nuts & seeds, and legumes, in a way even dedicated carnivores can appreciate, so don't fear missing out on meat or "meat." The surprisingly simple bang bang broccoli is bangin'! And a crowd favorite. Definitely get that. The avocado beetroot tartare and crispy rice were excellent as well. My dining companions variously ordered sushi, fried rice, and other noodle dishes, and all were happy with their meals. Service was very warm and knowledgeable. When we asked our waitress Stasia for recommendations, she rattled off a list of items and their attributes, gamely answering our questions and clearly knew her way around the menu. "One of everything please!"

    Ritvi S.

Tons of vegan options and perfect place to go with your friends. When we ordered the noodles, one of them was completely missing salt but the waiter was super helpful and accommodating. Bang bang also didn't hit like usual but everything else was amazing. Because of the number of options, recommend going with a group so you can eat family style.

TOGO STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING for the birthday guy!

We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday and the overall experience was amazing! Most specifically regarding the food and the service. However, they're only getting 4 stars from me due to the horribly uncomfortable layout this restaurant has, which I'll review at the end. However, it's important to note that when you arrive, you'll find the host stand in the MIDDLE of the restaurant, towards the end of the bar. It's in such an awkward spot. We had to wait about 10 minutes for our table (despite having a reservation) and there was no where to stand where we weren't in the way. We were either blocking the bar, blocking the entrance to the kitchen or blocking the walkway for people to get by. It was soooo awkward and weird. Not the best place to put a host stand... We're vegetarian, this 100% vegan sushi restaurant is perfect for us as we know we can order anything from the menu and be "safe". We started our meal with the 1000 Layer Crispy Potatoes (recommended by our server) and they were delicious! The perfect amount of sauce combined with the crispness of the potatoes made for a beautiful start to our celebratory meal. Next we indulged in the Red Dragon Roll and the Volcano Roll. Both of which were equally impressive in texture and flavor, we had a hard time deciding which was our favorite between the two. Still hungry after sharing these three menu items, we decided to order the Kimchi Baos. I was a bit skeptical because I'm not a fan of kimchi, however I was surprised at how much I enjoyed them! I really couldn't tell that they had kimchi on them, however they did have a unique flavor that makes them worth ordering again. Additionally, I loved the combination of the crispy fried mushrooms and the soft texture of the bao bun. Lastly, our server surprised us with a Sticky Toffee Pudding on the house to celebrate my husband's birthday! That was so nice and it was actually pretty tasty considering that it wasn't made with eggs. I typically don't enjoy Vegan desserts, but I'd say this one was an exception. Okay, now to the issue with the floor plan here.... The tables are CRAMPED everywhere in this place and they are arranged in such an awkward manner. Where we were seated was definitely one of the worst spots in the entire restaurant. Our tiny little two-top table was on the end near the area with the coat racks....and was next to a table that had someone in a chair sitting in the aisle. To help you get a better idea of the issue: the person in the chair took up half the aisle, meaning every time an employee or guest walked by (which was OFTEN) they had to awkwardly squeeze by and try not to knock into us while doing so. It was so annoying. What's worse, they have these horribly awkward setups with the tables in the middle of the restaurant where there's a little half wall thing in between us and the table next to us....but it was merely inches higher than the table itself. This meant that we were basically sharing a table with the people sitting next to us. Again, this was awkward and uncomfortable because the table next to us had 3 women and a baby who were not only incredibly loud, but they were letting the baby throw food all over the place. Had the floor plan not been so terribly arranged, this would've been a 5-star experience. Instead, we spent the evening trying to ignore the chaos around us. Note to the owners: figure out a new floor plan that is COMFORTABLE for the people eating here. Yes, your current layout is "cool" and has a nice vibe, however it's not functional in a way that is relaxing for your guests.

    BANG BANG BROCCOLI
    Maya B.

The bang bang broccoli was one of the best vegetables I've ever had! We ordered a second round. I like the truffle cream udon but did find the flavor a bit underwhelming, but the crispy chicken cutlet as an add on was good! Very spacious and beautifully decorated restaurant. Now, the service is why I'm only giving it three stars. We show up to our reservation and they asked if we thought we could be out by a certain time? Since when are we enforcing time limits on customers, especially those with reservations? And while the waiter was nice enough, they didn't return to check in on us that often. We had to flag down others for help. Also all I ordered to drink was a Coke and it took forever to come. For all of these reasons I'm not exactly in a rush to go back but I'm willing to try out their other locations.

BEEF & BROCCOLI and a side of steamed rice wok seared shiitake 'steak', tofu, scallion, sesame

I came here by myself at 5:45 before a 7pm show and I had plenty of time. I was the first person to be seated downstairs that evening. The lights were low and the tables were quite close together. The service was prompt but thorough and the food was delicious. Thankfully the server suggested a side of steamed rice to go with the "beef" and broccoli. Together it was delicious.

A Hidden Gem That Completely Changed My Perspective on Vegan Food…read more Yesterday was my first visit to Le Botaniste, and I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. The storefront and fresh drinks first caught my attention, so I thought it was mostly a juice or beverage spot. The moment I walked inside, I realized it was so much more. The restaurant has a warm, inviting atmosphere, and everything looked incredibly fresh. You can immediately tell they take pride in the quality of their food. The highlight of our visit was the exceptional customer service from Alan. He welcomed us with a smile, took the time to explain the menu, answered all of our questions, and gave us recommendations based on what we were looking for. His knowledge and enthusiasm made choosing our meals easy. Alan recommended their most popular bowl, the Pasta Bolognese, and mentioned it was also his personal favorite. After just one bite, I understood why. It was rich, hearty, full of flavor, and if no one had told me it was vegan, I never would have guessed. It has officially become one of my favorite plant-based meals. For my mother, Alan recommended the seasonal Mediterranean Bowl, and it was another excellent choice. I asked her if she enjoyed it, and her response was simple: "Yes... and I want more." That pretty much says it all. The drinks were also fresh, refreshing, and paired perfectly with our meals. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on their drink menu. Even if you're not vegan, don't let that stop you from trying this place. Le Botaniste proves that plant-based food can be comforting, satisfying, and packed with incredible flavor. A huge thank you to Alan for making our first visit such a memorable one. Great food is important, but great hospitality makes people want to come back. Needless to say, I'll definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu.

Since we were there for brunch, I decided to try the P.S. Breakfast ($22) which is tofu scramble, spinach, portobello mushrooms, and corn muffins. My friend got the P.S. Burger ($20) with a gluten-free bun ($2). For the breakfast, the portobello mushrooms were the highlight of the dish. They were very juicy and had strong umami flavor! I love spinach even plain, but I think it could have used a touch more seasoning. The tofu scramble was seasoned, but it could either use more seasoning or more moisture. The corn muffins were dry and crumbly, definitely the worst part of the dish. My friend said that the sauce brought the burger together and hid the fact that it's a Beyond burger. She also mentioned that she didn't feel heavy after eating the burger, which was nice. Despite us telling the restaurant that we had to go to a musical, service was on the slower side. My friend also had to try several times to get to the bathroom, since someone was always inside. However, the staff was friendly and made us feel welcome. I would only recommend P.S. Kitchen if you have a dietary restriction and want a restaurant that has a relaxed ambiance before your Broadway show.

It just has that something-special quality- there's a good premise (veg/vegan mexican food makes so much sense), nice ambience, extremely yummy drinks, and a solid vibe. The first time I got a reservation with a friend; the second time I walked in and sat solo at the bar. Both times I had very friendly, helpful service. I've tried tacos (with vegan chorizo, don't see it on the menu at the moment), a quesadilla, and if I remember right, the fried mushrooms. They were all great - the tacos were amazing. And both times I/we got the churros, which are FIRE - I'm not even a dessert person but I highly highly recommend getting them if you like churros / cinnamon / chocolate at all. This is a lovely spot for a date, friends' hangout, parents in town, but maybe a little small to expect a big group to fit nicely. It was loud but not too loud. Expensive for sure but it feels really nice, not just a regular overpiced spot. And I'm not a vegetarian (neither is my friend), so take that into account.

We got the Philadelphia maki roll, spicy mang, and the chicken yakitori skewers (my favorite). The skewers have a tangy sauce that make it so good. The drinks were also unique and beautifully served!

Beyond Sushi was in Midtown near where I was staying, so I ended up coming here---on Valentine's Day, which happened to be a mistake! Since I didn't have a reservation, the lady who checked me in told me I had to find a seat at the bar. Her attitude was not the best, as when I looked over the menu and made a decision on what I wanted to get, she dismissed me when I waved her over, saying she is not the person taking orders. Um, okay? Then who is? One guy at the bar was nicer, and was able to take my order. I started off with a hot tea since NYC was cold in February, and then decided to have as much as I could of two dishes---the "chicken" yakitori skewers and the Korean BBQ skillet. The skewers came in a set of two, with a white mayo-like sauce drizzle and pickled cucumber on the side. Super delectable, though very filling because of the protein! The skillet was made with classic Chunk Foods protein, the go-to plant-based option for all the meat dishes at City Roots restaurants as far as I know. This was incredibly filling, but the sauce and the texture were all around delicious as well. I could NOT bother to finish the brussels sprouts the skillet came with---way too much to stomach, and I was going to focus on the "meats" since I can always have brussels any other time! The bill by the end of it was PRICEY. That's why I only go to one of these restaurants as a special treat when I visit NYC. Watch out if you order hot tea...$13!! I guess that's the NYC way, but still!

There were so many options that we ordered 2 more entrees to go. The service was fast and it's definitely more of an upscale feeling to the place. We had reservations but it wasn't too busy. This sandwich is usually not something that is available vegetarian so i was curious to see the flavors and textures. The steak is chewy and meaty so if you are not a fan of faux meat then i would proceed with caution. I enjoy the cheeses here as they are unique and different from each other. The sandwich overall was okay though not my favorite sandwich ever. - smoked Mac and cheese (7/10): macaroni with smoked goat cheese, cheddar, mozzarella baked in a cast iron skillet and topped with vegan pancetta and breadcrumbs. This was a cozy appetizer especially on a cold day. The flavors of the cheese are rich and smoky with a hint of saltiness from the pancetta and breadcrumbs. I would have liked it to be a larger portion and offered as an entree. WOULD I GO BACK? Maybe. I liked the ambiance and the option to try dishes that are usually meat heavy but the cuisine is not my personal favorite.
