It's a casual vibe inside, a bit dark inside and apparently they host a variety of community events. I tried the salmon pasta and was in awe of the salmon. It was flaky, umami and perfectly tender -- such an incredible vegan fish substitute. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the Alfredo sauce creamy without any off aftertaste that's sometimes comes with vegan cheese/dairy. I wish the portion was a bit larger for the price; I finished every last bit of it. The kbbq wings had a really flavorful sauce and dip, but I wish the seitan had more of a crunch to it. Also would have preferred a bit more of a stickier wing with a bit more of the bbq glaze. Service was great and food came out within 10-15 minutes during lunch. Went here to support a vegan spot instead of going to our usual Polish place for Friday early lunch and it didn't disappoint. The waiter was on top of it: My partner got the lasagna and I got the loaded broccoli, as I was feeling something cheesy. Wish I'd gotten the BLT, because as their menu stated, the loaded broccoli was a starter, and very one-note. But that's my own fault. I also got a prosecco which was $3 off which I had no idea about until the check came, and my partner an unsweetened iced tea which she loved. I was so excited to learn about this place. I am not vegan but I don't eat meat and try to eat plant-based as much as I can. I didn't want a full meal so I decided to just get the cauliflower bites. They were so good, as was the sauce that came with them. The cauliflower was the perfect consistency, and the breading on the outside wasn't over-fried. The place is also really cute and has a nice little vibe. There's a bar towards the front and seating area in the back. Good music and decor. I wish I had caught the server's name - he was so nice. After bringing the bites over, he came back with extra napkins "just in case." He also gave lots of great recommendations, so I will have to come back and try the other dishes he mentioned! What an incredible vegan spot, right in the heart of Chelsea! I went to Urban Vegan Kitchen to attend an open mic last week and was really in awe of the vibe they created here. They have live music and DJs nearly every night and happy hour specials all throughout the work week from 5pm to close. While I'm taking a long alcohol break, their 2 for 1 wine glasses and half price wine bottles on Thursdays is quite incredible to see. Speaking of sans-alcohol, I love how their bartenders whipped me up something perfectly gingerly, spicy and lemony right after telling them what I liked. This place is the BEST! I've only visited three times since I don't live nearby, but my meal there this weekend reminded me why I need to make the journey more often. The food is exceptionally delicious, from the apps to the best chocolate vegan cake I've ever had. It's the kind of place you can bring your meat-eating friends without a single complaint. We just weren't impressed with the food. The waffle from the chicken and waffles was the best thing we ate. Although the mustard on the waffle was rather gross and didn't fit the vibe of the dish. The chicken pieces were also different textures which was strange. The Mac and cheese had too many "bread crumbs" that the texture was off. And the mud slide pie is nothing more than a fudgy brownie. We came here for brunch and had such a great experience. Ambiance: it's got a really unique vibe with late night diner disco vibes. The seats were comfortable and it's not too loud. Food: We started with the Mac n cheese. The mushrooms were a perfect touch to add a bit of crisp and unique flavor. I really liked the texture of it too. We also got the buffalo soldier cauliflower bites. They were good but felt average compared to the other dishes we tried. Our favorite was the sizzla coconut shrimp. It was so crispy and flavorful and the sauces it came with were the perfect compliment. The Korean bbq wings were really good and had a yummy coating. We also tried the French toast and it was fluffy and the sliced almonds on top were a good bonus. Service: our waiter was very friendly and helped answer all our questions. ADORABLE little spot on 23rd between 7th and 8th Ave. Went in for lunch. They have a liquor bar, coffee, tea, mushroom coffee, wine, and juice. There's something for everyone. They have a menu for if you can't have garlic or onion. They have a gluten free menu. They have a soy free menu. There was a guy who was sat next to us who had an alcohol allergy (so like even vanilla extract or cider vinegar would be problematic), and the waitron was able to find him something to eat that he enjoyed and ate. This is the place you go to if you have folk with allergies, or have a picky eater in your midst. Buffalo Cauliflower bites were breaded nicely. They were piping hot and crispy with a mild heat to them. They weren't covered in sauce, but rather had the sauce inside the breading, so that your fingers don't get gross. Ranch dipping sauce was delightful. Beligian Waffle was served with sliced fruit (banana, strawberry, and blueberry came on mine) and a small side of maple syrup. Burgers and sandwiches are piled high with beautiful looking condiments, and if you order the fries, they're fresh cut potatoes that are piping hot from the oil. Mississippi Mud Pie was fudgy and dense, and bursting with chocolate flavor. Servers were gracious and patient, and food comes out promptly. Even if you pop in for a few drinks, and order snacks to share, I think this is a good spot to visit. If you want to swing by for brunch, lunch, or dinner, this is a good spot. The four of us were seated at one of the tables in the corner with two chairs and plush bench seating aligning the wall. Inside is super cozy with cool framed pictures all over the walls. It's a vibe. I went with the Nah, For Real? ranch salad and, because I'm greedy, a side of onion rings. This ended up being my meal for the day. It was not only delicious but very filling/satisfying. I ordered the "shrimp" naively thinking there was a chance seafood was the exception and they were real shrimp. I still wasn't sure even after a few bites! The texture and appearance were pretty convincing. I also had a bite of my friend's burger and thought that was yummy as well. The prices are... Manhattan prices. Loved the food and the staff was extremely kind and attentive. I believe one of the chefs (he was wearing white) came out to deliver our food and then came back to ask if everything was good. Two waiters also came by and did the same thing a little while later. Only negatives are the music is pretty loud for having a dining room and not just a bar, so if you have older people/parents that are hard of hearing this isn't the place to go to converse. But the decorations/atmosphere are really cool, love the vibe overall. The food is pricier but not impossible. Appetizers ranged from $13-17 dollars and entrees around $23-25. I also asked for an extra side of sauce when packing up my leftovers and they said they'd have to ring me up again to charge me for it. It was just a container of syrup lol. But the restaurant is like a 10 minute walk from Penn Station and in Chelsea so this is standard and expectant pricing; I can't really blame them. There's so much to say about this amazing spot. The first was the service. The service was seamless and both servers had great suggestions and senses of humor. When I tell you, this is the best sandwich I've had in a very very, very long time. Oh my goodness it was perfect. This was one of the specials they were doing for the day. They need to put this on the menu it is breaded oyster mushroom, fried, nice and crispy, not greasy at all then you got some house made slaw and blue cheese crumbles. I also believe there was tempeh bacon on here, but when I tell you all the flavors went perfectly together it wasn't too spicy. I have had the mac and cheese twice now and I can confirm that it deserves the hype. $18 for a smallish bowl of mac and cheese with shiitake bacon is a little steep but here I am. I think the shiitake bacon should just be a given, not an add on for $2 but maybe that's just me fondly remembering the By Chloe/Beatnik earlier days before they changed the recipe for the worst. But thank you, this is the closest thing that comes to it. The first time I visited this restaurant, I was passed between two servers as if one went on their break unannounced and so I was left alone for quite some time. I think the table service based on that experience could improve a little bit here. The empanada was decent, the crust was nice and crispy. I am giving this restaurant 5 stars because I want it to succeed and people to go here, so hopefully these suggestions will be taken into consideration. The vibe/decor inside the restaurant itself is pretty cool, but it's a little dark in my opinion.
